Our Opnion

Family oriented with a good location right on a calm beach. The great kids club is what makes this such a family-friendly resort. Good food and 24-hour sports bar. Riu Caribe is also popular with a younger crowd of couples and singles. The large pool here is quite amazing. Rooms on the 4th floor and higher have the best view of the beach and lagoon. An excellent choice for anyone who wants to experience Cancun.

MAJOR party place filled with sloppy young people. Sunwings cover picture used of a big big pool is FAKE. Food is good. Drinks are very watered down. Far walk from most things.

I have been staying since last Friday and the truth is that we are disappointed with the service. During the day there are very few entertainment options, a pool table that you have to pay to occupy, a gym with very few equipment (there are no mats), an $850 “gift card” that only translates into discounts of $10. dollars per time of services over 150 dollars. At night we have not been able to occupy the common areas for three nights, due to noise and annoying behavior of North American tourists, very dirty areas and no snacks to snack on at night. It is not possible to even order at the bar! In addition, they have come to knock on our room door on several occasions and the hotel staff has not given us an answer, except that they will be more “attentive.” I really don't recommend it!

I am currently staying at Riu Caribe and the truth is I am very disappointed in the service of this hotel. As it is Spring Break season there are many young people who turned the hotel into a disaster. They have knocked on our door every night, disturbing us. We asked the hotel for explanations and they only said that they would be more attentive. We've been like this for 3 nights! Added to that is how dirty they leave everything, the interior bar area is all wet, drunk people, they don't allow us to occupy the areas of the hotel. I really am very eager, I have never
This had happened and I think the hotel's response is what upsets me the most.

Excellent hotel, renovated facilities, varied food service, all the staff very friendly, especially Guillermo who served us at the Coral Buffet for our breakfasts and lunches, and also Ana who cleaned our room. We loved it and hope to return one day.

Amazing hotel, extremly clean, very good service, great food...

For service 4.5/5 some of the waiters were not always super patient but this was really rarely.

The restaurants offered variety of food, I however expected more from the mexican cousine. Stakehouse was amazing, Sushi bar very average.

Facilities, bars, pools etc was perfect!

One bad thing, not sure is it related to the hotel but it was booked via the hotel: destination service (transfer to the hotel) after 15h flight from Europe told me I need to wait 45 min (because it is stated in the contract UP TO 45 min) or I can speed it up if I tip the guy 😡. Not the problem in 10 eur but this is not what we expected as welcome package...

All in all, I would definitly come back. One of the best vaccations I ever had ☀️

Very good hotel, excellent facilities and location
The service is terrible, the waiters, bartenders and others do not make an effort to provide good service, apparently to ask them for something you have to have a dollar bill in your hand
The tip seems obligatory but not the tribute for good service

I just recently arrived back from our family vacation at Riu Caribe. Our vacation at Riu was not great.

Our rooms were clean and well maintained. No complaints when it comes to our room and the cleanliness. The pool and beach were nice as well. To give you a bit of a background, we are a Mexican American family but we had 3 family members that flew in from Guadalajara, we are all fluent in Spanish and my brother in law is white.

However, my complaints is with the actual hotel servers, reception employees, entertainment and overall service.

To begin with, one of my family members is disabled and needs wheelchair accessibility. Days prior to arriving to our vacation I called the hotel to let the staff know that we needed special accommodation room, so they could have it available when we arrived but they said they only had 5 rooms in the entire resort with special accommodations but that they would make a note. We arrived to our vacation and update they did not give us a room. So then I let it pass but did ask for a shower chair when we checked in. I had to ask reception 3 times in order for them to provide one to him. In which they then proceeded to tell me they could provide me an accessible room but it would be a downgrade to our reservations, in which I declined. It’s very sad to see how it’s considered a downgrade, they should offer the same services.

The servers/service was not great nor did they ever make us feel special in anyway. I have traveled to other parts of Mexico where I have received by far better treatment where you happily leave gratuity/tip. They seem very indifferent and are rude. I would speak to the bartenders in Spanish and they were rude and would better assist you if you spoke to them in English apparently.

My biggest complaint was that the receptionists were EXTREMELY RUDE AND RACIST. One evening we were all hanging out at the lobby and the hotel had a table where you could grab a few board games. A few hours passed when we decided we wanted to play so I proceed to ask the reception for a board game spoke to them in Spanish by the way and they responded that they weren’t the ones that you “check out” the games out from to go over to the entertainment room. So then I walk over and ask again in Spanish and they responded with that they were gonna close so they couldn’t let me borrow a board game so then I walked away.

Minutes later, I had my white brother in law go ask for a board game in ENGLISH and they provided him with a game. I was infuriated so then I walk back to the reception and they acted all dumbfounded. I told them that I could also speak English if I was going to receive better service.

It’s very sad that they do not provide the same service to you if you speak to them in Spanish especially because the resort is in Mexico. The resort is clearly very Americanized.

I would not be booking again with Riu Caribe, it is not my first time at a Riu resort and my previous experiences have been much better.

One last thing, your entertainment should be broader to encompass all customers that travel from all parts of the world. It’s clearly JUST tailored towards your American clientele and not your local, Mexican and Latin clients, very sad once again.

Para mis paisanos Mexicanos, no les recomiendo este resort, no les van a dar él mismo trato como a los Americanos.

Very loud music in the evening when you want to rest . Don’t let them put you in a room on the east side . First days loud music , backed up sewer and the smell was awful. Complained and they did nothing . The food was good and the pools were very nice . Just the night life and way to loud for this that want to rest or have children .

Food was terrible and staff members were not kind. Stayed for a week and lost 4.5lbs at the all inclusive because the food was so disgusting. Dishes from breakfast were often left out until lunch and lunch dishes left out until dinner. Everything tastes cheap and not fresh. The bar was okay and the drinks were what you expect, but the food was genuinely horrible, was very disappointed.

I'm a travel business owner from Minnesota, and this is the first time this resort. It has a party feel to it

Excellent experience

We've had a lovely holiday so far, but unfortunately it's getting very cloudy at the moment. A group of drunk men and women at the sports pool are behaving in an unbelievable way, shouting loudly, hitting other hotel guests with the ball, and the whole situation escalates. Unfortunately, the security staff present are not doing enough. There is discussion and in the meantime the other hotel guests have moved away from this pool. An intolerable situation for a 5 star hotel.
Until now we felt comfortable here, but unfortunately not anymore.
I wouldn't choose such a big hotel again, too much alcohol, food more mass than quality.
The staff tries hard but unfortunately many guests are completely lacking in standards.
The sea and the beach were very nice, but overall it was more of a 3 star level with a lot of alcohol and food and quite loud.
Not suitable for relaxation.

Overall had a really good time here. I would give 5 stars, but the food is lacking here.

Rooms are clean and stocked as needed with drinks. They at least always have something to eat 24 hours a day with the coolers in the sports bar. They “upgraded” us to a party room, but honestly the view sucked in those rooms and wish we would have just gotten our original room since we didn’t even get the party wristband.

Pool parties were a lot of fun and our main reason for booking here. Entertainment at them the whole time with dancers. Would come here again for the themed parties. Loved the beach access as well.

Bar staff was really quick. I’ve been to other hotels that take forever to get a drink and these were always less than a minute to get a drink. Loved the swim up bar because it didn’t have kids haha. Snack bar at the pool was a nice option too.

We tried all the restaurants and didn’t really enjoy any of them other than the steakhouse which had the best food. Mexican restaurant steak was alright there as well. The food at the Asian buffet was so dry. The kulinarium lobster and rice was also dry with no flavor at all. The buffet was alright, had it for breakfast everyday and a nice quick option. The chicken tenders at the snack bar are gross and had no flavor.

Overall we would come back for the fun vibes here. If you’re looking for something more lowkey this wouldn’t be your place.

Terrible place do not come here they are racist and get you locked up for drinking they set you up from the time they saw we were African American!! DO NOT RECOMMEND . Manager sent me and my friend to jail !! DO NOT COME HERE EVER

A true paradise in the Caribbean. The entire hotel staff was always very attentive and helpful. The recreation team put on a real show of fun both in the pool and at the nightly parties and performances. Many restaurant options with delicious food. Excellent location, quiet beach.

Without exception, nice, friendly staff. No matter where you were - pool bar, dining room, various restaurants...
Very good beach location, great animation team - not intrusive - inviting to join in.

we had gotten the party package, well don't waste your money because everything basically shuts down at 6 pm. all the outside bars close, pools are open, but you would have to go inside to get a drink. There were no good activities planned at this resort either. staff was very friendly, but the food was not great, and they skimp on the drinks by watering down shots and buying the cheapest mixers. all in all, I was not real impressed with any of it.
