Top of the line, beautiful hotel! The Riu Palace Las Americas is near the top of the list for 5 star resorts in Cancun. Great food, service and entertainment. Champagne for breakfast! Rooms are all junior suites and are very nicely finished. The beach area is a bit small, but they make up for it with two great infinity pools. Now an adults-only resort, this is a definite recommend for couples.

Excellent atmosphere and great service
The Hotel was awesome, and the staff were fantastic. I only had one issue that I am having issues trying to get resolved. The Hotel allows agents from Expedia to operate inside the Hotel. These agents will sell you excursions that are not backed by Expedia and, in my case, Expedia refuses to correct the issue stating if you buy from their agents at the hotel the packages are not covered. Expedia will only cover issues if you purchase their packages online. I tried to resolve my issue but the Expedia agent Raul at the hotel refused to answer me. So, buyers beware when getting the marked up priced not guaranteed packages from these agents working at the hotel. Expedia put it back on the hotel but the numbers they have listed will not connect from the US.

Bedroom floors are extremely slippery. Using scooters is possible, but difficult to fit in the elevators. An elevator is needed to access all of the rooms.
We had a group of 8 people, 2 needed scooters, my 95yr old father and 56yr old sister. They gave both rooms with stairs. My father fell within 1 hour of being her because of the stairs. We requested a room with NO stairs and were given a hard time because they considered that to be an upgrade. How is a safer room for a handicap elderly man considered an upgrade?
On the 4th day we took the ferry and also brought the scooters. My brother helped to lift both scooters on and off the ferry. When we got back to the hotel, they checked for our all-inclusive wrist bands and my brothers was missing. We explained it likely came off while lifting the heavy scooters on and off the ferry. They didn't care at all and said he had to pay 2500 pesos for the wrist band. They insisted we were told that when we checked in, but we were not. 8 of us were NOT made aware of this upon check-in.
There are 2 elevators on each end of the hotel to access 8 floors. None of the 4 elevators have room for more than 1 other person with a scooter.

Alejandra at the service desk was EXTREMELY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. She also refused to let us speak with someone else when we requested.
Not looking forward to 4 more days at this place. Will NEVER recommend RIU. So many options, choose anywhere but here. This is supposed to be adults only and there were many children under 10 on the beach.
Worst hotel experience of my life. Unfortunately I will have to stay here for another 2 days. Upon arriving at the room, we saw that the bathroom was full of hair on the floor. We decided to let it go. When taking a shower we noticed that the drain was blocked, forming a mini pool inside the shower when we took a shower. We called reception twice and nothing. In this way, we waste time waiting. We decided to get ready and go down to dinner, so as not to waste any more time. We went out and spoke to reception, asking the team to tidy it up and then clean it, since someone was going to work on the drain. Arriving in the bathroom we saw that there was no cleaning at all. The carpet was dirty and no one had come to clean it. The bathroom still had hair and now dirty footprints on the floor. We had to call 3 times for them to send someone, taking over 1 hour. A total disregard. When the cleaning team arrived, they had no idea what it was like to wipe the bathroom floor with a cloth (washing is not even mentioned). The bathrooms can only be cleaned with a broom!!
I never recommend it.
Adults only. Well located. Good beach. Mediocre food and shows. Hot cold foods, and hot desserts. Little presentation and variety. We have been to other Riu, Caribe and Latino, and we had different expectations. It is Palace and it should be superior in everything. Pablo very good attention. Felipe on beach service. Rebeca and Rigoberto at the Buffet. In general, very good attention and willingness of all the service staff.
But I would not return, since it is more expensive, and the food and cooking issue, my wife and I are Very Disappointed
SCAMMERS!!! We have been victims of this hotel, they charged us for this hotel and they moved us to a lower priced, lower quality hotel and we are all dissatisfied, our vacation was ruined!!!! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
A BIG SCAM!!!! We booked this hotel, with a lot of time, and when we arrived, they told us that there was no room, it was a lot of time that we lost without any solution, and they sent us to a very cheap hotel, and they did not return our money, RIU IS A BIG SCAM AND A GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!
SCAM! We made a reservation well in advance, and upon arrival they told us that there are no rooms and they transferred us to the hotel that we did not choose. DISAPPOINTING.
TERRIBLE HOTEL!!! IT'S A SCAM.
Riu palace las americas is an awesome adult all inclusive resort. This was our second time there and in spite of the newer Riu palaces in Cancun, will be our pick in the future!!
What ever Riu you choose, make sure it is a Riu Palace as they are all a step up from just the Rius. The staff is phenomenal and all deserve tips! Be generous for good service as they rely heavily on tips for their income!
Amazing place to visit. Food is a 6 out of 10, but everything else such as entertainment, area, staff and drinks make up for it. There is soooo much to do within walking distance. Will definitely visit here again. Check the videos I have attached.
spent six wonderful days at this resort with our friends had a great time. Great food, great music, great shows, great drinks! the best staff I’ve ever been around.
Do not book here
I hate bad back
Booked a room with 2 beds
Called to confirm
Only to be told they can not guarantee 2 beds
I'm a cancer survivor with back problems
This felt very uncool to me
I pride Mexico in their amazing customer service! Riu palace las americas failed
I cancelled reservation and booked a hotel that could guarantee 2 beds
Stayed at many different Rui through the years. Was very disappointing. Ordered room service for breakfast. Got to terrible coffee's with milk no cream, ask for pastries, got to pieces of cold toast. Drinks are a joke. All liquor is watered down and not as whT it says in bottle. I know my liquor and this not it. Food was less than average. They would not know a Italian restaurant if it hit them on the head. Filet needed to be cut with saw in steak house. Japanese, forget it. Beach was nice. Buffet sub par. Will not be going to Rui no more. TeribleI7
Was clean and friendly. No issues. Even got a nice upgrade!
We stayed here early February 2024. The location was awesome and they have a fantastic beach. The pools were pretty cool – there was one party pool and then one main pool. That’s much quieter. The staff was unbelievably friendly and the service was great. The hotel is kept very clean everywhere from the steps that go down to the beach to your rooms to the lobby to the pool area to the restaurants.
The only downside I have for this place was the food. Overall, it was OK. However, we were disappointed with a few of the spots based on our expectations. Namely, the black-and-white steakhouse.
If you’re looking for a hotel with great value for a higher end spot, this is definitely a great place to go.
Best vacation ever! Amazing rooms, excellent service, safe environment, amazing ocean view, gorgeous swimming pool, top notched food selections, best of all, no kids allowed.
Let me start by saying this stay was off to a rocky start. We booked three rooms and upgraded to ocean view a couple months in advanced but when we checked in we the worst ocean view rooms in the hotel. First floor in the back corner.
I will say I wasn't very happy with the situation but over the course of the week Riu won me over. The staff was absolutely incredible, the beaches were amazing and the pools were gorgeous. We had a wonderful time. Lots of fun at the swim up bar and the nightly theatre.
The hotel is a great location if you want to be in the most touristy part of Cancun. Take that as either a plus or a negative but we enjoyed venturing out of the hotel so it was a positive for us.
I would definitely stay here again but keeping in mind it is one of the more affordable hotels so the food is average at best and not very authenticate if that is what you are looking for. The dynamic of everything gave us the feeling of being on a cruise ship.
If, and probably when, we return we will ask for a better room for sure and I think knowing what to expect on the food and drink side of things we will know what to expect.
Hotel could use some new beds and a refresh on their food & beverage program.
Overall still a great place to stay in the Hotel Zone.
Everything was great about this resort except the food. Good lord it was so bad. The rooms are slightly dated but not horrible. The smell in the lobby gets old quick. The beach is awesome and the hotel staff is great but if quality of food is at all important to you, don’t stay there.
This place is absolutely amazing!! The staff is so friendly and helpful! The food is great!!
