Great service, very clean
Wonderful but avoid spring time! We (2 adults in their 50s) went there from March 19 to March 28, 2024. We went there to relax. We loved the atmosphere of the Palace-architecture and style. The staff is supper friendly, the beach is clean and the water is clear and warm. The ocean is very shallow and you can walk about 20 to 30 feet into the water. They have 5 dine-in restaurants plus a buffet restaurant which has lots of options to chose from. In addition an Espresso bar with great coffee and small selections to chose from, a bar inside and at least 2 bars at the pool and another food option at the pool for burgers. They had surprisingly acceptable white wine (Chardonnay from Spain) The place was very clean and they had several shows in the evening. We also visited the nearby Riu Tequila to check out their Friday night party although we are not party people.
You could walk for about 20 minutes to be in Playa del Carmen or take a Taxi for 150 Pesos. We highly recommend to take a walking tour of Playa del Carmen with Estacion Mexico. Donation is recommended at about 200 Pesos per person. The Ferry station to Cozumel was also there and it cost 36 US$ for the both of us to get to there. In Cozumel we booked a snorkel tour.
But what we did not like was that starting around March 22, a lot of young adults arrived starting drinking and partying; groups of 6 to 7 young men or women. The music at the pool turned into mindless and constant drum beats. We could not really relax at the pool anymore. Large families or groups at the restaurants and the wait time at the restaurants turned into 1 to 2 hours and long lines at the Espresso bar inside. Next time we will avoid Spring break time.

The hotel itself is gorgeous. Stunning. The staff that takes care of it does a great job. Very clean. The rooms do not have a separate bathroom; toilet - yes; bathroom/shower/tub - no. The food is quite terrible. Poor quality of food. They have multiple restaurants - yes. I ordered lobster and for the first time in my life - I spit out the lobster. I paid about $6.5K for 8 days and sincerely regret it. Last, it was so so so loud. The music did not stop till after 11 pm. Not conducive to early risers or kids. I usually take with me the best earplugs they make on the market and despite being half way from the hotel, toward the beach, they did not drown the music. I would not return. Not even for half the cost, not even at no cost.
Beautiful hotel , rooms are always clean. Service is excellent , entertainment is great music , coconut day on the beach , bbq day on the beach , party outside the hotel transportation included from hotel . 5 star feed back to all workers , polite , responsive , they well deserve a tip . Beach is beautiful cleaned everyday . Water sports , jet ski 65$ for 30 minutes , skydiving $290 , parasailing, diving , snowboard, snorkeling, and many others . One complaint I have , the buffet and pool food is great , the restaurants are lacking in quality. Except the Italian restaurant I heard it’s really good but I did not try it due to disappointment from the others . Beautiful overall .

We spent the week of March 11-18 at Riu Palace Riviera Maya and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. The beach is the absolute star of the show with white sand, turquoise water, lots of chairs and palm trees to find shade under if needed.
Robierto made our time at the beach even better by always making sure we had enough water and a margarita in hand. The service overall at this resort is amazing. Everyone we encountered were so friendly and hard working!
My only complaint is the pool temperature is a bit too warm for my liking, but since I loved the beach so much it didn't really matter.
Overall this is an excellent resort and I would highly recommend. I can't wait to go back!

Excellent hotel, very good facilities, very friendly staff, excellent food and location. A lot of cleaning, the pool bathrooms a melting pot thanks to Patricia who did the cleaning. The perfect location, you can walk to 5th Ave and the Xcaret parks are 15 minutes away by bus. I would return 100%
It is a recommended hotel for the whole family, including children. We really liked its facilities, since it is not a hotel that requires a lot of walking to get to the rooms and restaurants. The rooms are nice and spacious, more focused on couples but 4 people will be without problems. The beach is very beautiful and quiet with the characteristic colors of the Mayan Riviera. There were always enough sun loungers to lie down. Very dedicated and friendly service from all the staff. I found the breakfast and lunch buffet food to be very rich and varied, as well as the specialty restaurants we ate, which were the cuts and the Italian. The drinks are also very good, you can choose whatever you want from the virtual menu and you have a minibar full of soft drinks, water and beer in your room as well as liquors. At all times you can find something to drink and eat regardless of the time. The facilities are great, decorated in a way that makes them feel luxurious but without losing the essence of the Riu. We had a great time these days and I highly recommend this hotel. I would stay again without thinking about it.

We were married on the beach here in Oct. 2023. The resort is immaculate and service was amazing. We had the most amazing backdrop for our wedding day. We got super lucky with the weather! Could not be happier with our choice to get married here and lucky to have had this experience at Riu Palace Riviera Maya with 60 of our closest family and friends. Our wedding coordinator, Leticia Elisa Villalba Lara was AMAZING! She knows her stuff and was super helpful and calming, she really helped make our day that much more special. We had family and friends who sang us down the aisle and they were very accomodating with all of our our needs. Can not wait to go back!

7 day family trip.
The building structure is spectacular. We went with two children, 4 and 6 years old. The hotel has entertainment for them Riuland, the staff were great at all times. They allow you to leave them under their supervision a total of 5 hours a day, 3 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon and at night an hour of extra activity for children. Very good experience for children who also make friends there.
The cleanliness is outstanding, the maintenance staff is continually making sure that all the facilities are clean and in order.
The attention of the waiters in all social areas was also outstanding!
Remarkable service from the entertainment staff, attentive all the time and with fun proposals that invite you to spend a spectacular vacation!
I would choose RIU again without hesitation!
