Riu Vallarta is a beautiful property in the Riviera Nayarit area, about 10 minutes drive from the market at Bucerias. This is the middle property in terms of quality amongst the 3 Riu resorts in Riviera Nayarit. Riu Palace Pacifico being the best and Riu Jalisco slightly more economical. This resort is great for any couples and families looking for a fun resort with very good service. In our opinion the 5 star rating by the Riu is a bit generous, 4 star is probably a better representation for this resort.

Excellent in all aspects, the remodeling pleasantly impressive.
It is a good place to relax, at dawn you can see the dolphins a few meters from the beach, it is a hotel with many foreigners, so the entertainment will be inclined to music in universal English, the food is quality, the service is good , although compared to RIU Mazatlán, we can say that RIU Mazatlán is better since they are warmer with domestic tourists, the French-style food theme restaurant: it was an experience to remember, for the disco you have to go to RIU Jalisco they let you pass and consume even if you are staying in Vallarta.
No room service so you better eat before they close the restaurant because, what they offer in the 24 hours Sport Bar you wouldnt eat it or give it to nobody
Rooms were beautiful, modern and very clean.
Service was excellent and the staff were so polite and kind.
Location is very safe and in a gated tourist area. We enjoyed our long walks every morning on the walking path in front of the resorts!
We even walked over the the RIU Jalisco a couple nights and it was safe to use the walking path late at night. They honored our wrist bands and we were able to watch their shows, attend their nightclub and have drinks.
Great location, service isn’t good as other RIUs I’ve been at, only bad thing is the Wi-Fi is very bad, keeps disconnecting every time you move to a different spot anywhere in the hotel and the food is not great but ok
It was our first time in PV and at any Riu hotel. The location, food, entertainment, decor, pools, and restaurant service were all fantastic. The hotel and surroundings are so beautiful. The beach is incredible, like paradise. The only issue we had was that the beds & bedsheets weren't as clean as I would expect from a 5 star hotel. They were yellow, and the pillows smelled like sweat. It was impossible to get clean white pillows from guest services. Also, the beds are all full sized, not queen sized, so if you're a family of 4 with pre-teen sized kids only 1 person can fit on each bed and you will need to use the pull-out couch (which are covered in stains) or book 2 separate rooms.
I want to thank the entire Riu Vallarta staff for making my family and I feel right at home. From the bartenders to the floor staff working the restaurants. Fransisco, Abel from the bar and many others. Special thanks for Richard working the steak house for his top notch hospitality.
There is no more service on the beach
The room was great and the free upgrade was a plus for our family of 4.
The service to the room wasn’t great. We had to wait in excess of 1 hr to have enough towels to supply the four people registered in our room. Housekeeping would only leave 2 towels. We had our Tylenol stolen from our a room, and the security staff wasn’t helpful in resolving.
They had good activities for the kids for spring break to keep them entertained, and had kids club which gave us a few hours to ourselves.
The food wasn’t great, it was probably the worst I’ve had at a RUI. This will be my last visit to RUI.
Very nice but at the same time very sad since for the sake of the gringos or comfort to them they have made it A hotel for adults....
They prefer gringo money to happiness

Just come back from 2 weeks vacation. Amazing hotel. Food excellent staff very friendly. Housekeeping ladies are stars. Racquel gave us a towel folding lessons. Mimi on the entertainment is a legend as is lovely. As a person who has walking difficulties a map of the site would of been good. Rooms for people with walking issues should be on low floors with near to lifts. A lift right to the ground floor would be good for easy access. Only issue was entertainment choice could be more varied. ABBA twice in 2 week stay not good. House band Trebol were lovely. We came a 2 parties of 2 and loved our stay
You cannot eat dinner at both RIU resorts if you stay at one as some people claim. Tap water in my room was like muddy water one morning.
Food was Excellent, lots to choose from, hotel was excellent and very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful .

Wife and I wanted to go back and do it all again, we talked about it for 10 years!!! I def. Learned my lesson from last time, and we were ready to retackle this place!!!!
Welp, she got sick this time. 2 days down. She was open to trying everything at the stations, but something made her sick.
I brought pepto from home just in case, and thank Gawd I did. The price for it here is unreal.
I must say though, I tried everything I could to get the center area of the hotel, towards the top.. I really enjoyed the view last time. But COMMUNICATION is pretty lame. I called months in advance, and tried emailing also. But the # on the website goes to a off site location. They told me how to get ahold of the actual hotel, but it only sent me back to the call center.
Beings there was Months before we left I wasn’t too worried. I kept trying to no prevail. By the time We showed up… You guessed it… all booked up. Meh, wasn’t the worse thing in the World, but frustrating a bit. I understand this is a huge business.. And it’s definitely ran that way.
The activities and the staff are always fun. The new layout was much better than before, but I’m not sure why… it just felt less Magical than before. It was just.. Ok.
I’m not sure if it’s a Rui issue, or just this particular location.. We spoke with a family that has been to plenty other Rui destinations, and they said it’s hit or miss. So needless to say, This will be our last time at this place. 10 years later, I’ll give ya
