Riu app non functional. Ac non functional when we arrived. Had to call for maintenance twice. It's barely moving now, but it's ok. Pool closes at 6pm apparently. I should probably add the outlets in the room are loose and clearly show signs of hazard as they are brown.

Food is absolutely terrible quality, we ended up traveling off property to 5th avenue at least once or twice a day to get at least one decent meal a day. Cocktails are the well of the well. Location is good! Staff members were great. I would not stay again, due to the food borer line being not edible.

Soooo disappointed! 5 years in a row we come to Riviera Maya to explore different hotels. Never had a complaint. This time it started with the room conditions: 4 star motel look, toilet that you have to flush minimum 3 times to get results and for sure you'll wake up every body on the floor because it's so LOUD! For 2 days nonstop I was trying to find an excuse for the tasteless buffet food and drinks and I can't... I can only compare it with mediocre Cuban all inclusive! And at the beach ... good luck to find a chair! And the vacation is most expensive of all the Mexican vacations we've taken so far.

Food is average, location is good.great deal for the price.ho down early for breakfast and get s lounget as well before 8ish

The only complaint I would have is there's Pepsi and not coke. Everybody should know coke tastes way better with mixed drinks!!!

This resort is very dated and in need of a refresh. Food was not good at all, was either cold or dried out from heat lamps. I'd rather pay a little more for better food options. Drinks were fine, but no pool or beach service so annoying to have to go to the bar for refills. Beach was beautiful and pools were very nice. Bathrooms by reception were always gross and smelly. I did feel safe around the resort and even walking to the nearby shops/restraunts. I wouldn't come back to this resort.

Disgusting room Mold in the bathroom

We loved it, even though most of the visitors are foreigners, as Mexicans we were treated very well, from the reception, the cleanliness of the place, I don't know anything about the staff in the rooms, all the staff are very polite, my husband and I recommend it 1000🙏🙏🙏

Service that is generally satisfactory. It's a shame that employees are always waiting for tips (bribes) even for the most basic services. The system is all-inclusive. I didn't like that on the last day my identification bracelet was taken away at reception and that I always had to justify my need for food or another service to which I was still entitled.
I hope they improve.

I travel A-Lot. The Riu Yukatan was fantastic. The food was top shelf, the staff was top shelf+ I ate my weight in tacos and cheese. I’m not a party person but
we actually had fun at the Friday party. In particular we enjoyed the Ibiza pool with Juan and Damien. It was very calm and relaxing. If I could live here, I would.

Good food, lots of drinks, excellent service from all the staff

My third Riu in 1 year, I know the Riu República, in Punta Cana, and the Riu Caribe in Cancún, this one is much lower in level, the standard rooms are not up to the standard of a 5 star, the bathroom without a door, and with the minibar under the bathroom counter, total madness. The gym is destroyed, only the treadmills work (1 overheated after 10 minutes), the flat bench and the dumbbells, to do back exercises it was broken and was also a danger, I went and reported it, the same with the quadriceps one, all disassembled and dangerous, unpainted walls, in short, the rest everything is the same as other Riu, I stayed for 5 days and then I moved to the Iberostar Tucan which is next door, and the difference was abysmal, the cleanliness and quality of the hotel seemed like it had happened from a 2 star to a 5 star, oh I forgot, the theater screen is also broken, with colored spots everywhere, incredible that they don't invest being from such an important chain.

Would not stay here again unfortunately. Was just there for 10 days. Beautiful weather and location. However, unfortunately the hotel rooms itself were outdated, the shower is the tiniest hotel shower I have ever seen, the buffet food was either not throughly cooked or cold, and there was trash everywhere (cups full of drinks surrounding the pool- now while I know it ultimately should be the people throwing their own drinks in the garbage I should not have to worry as I have two young kids and there are alcoholic drinks surrounding the pool that they can easily grab), clumps of hair surrounding the outside of the pool as well as inside of the pool. When asking hotel staff if they could pick up the drink cups or dirty hair they would always just say that’s not my job.

The housekeeping staff were super friendly and fantastic. Karen and Jessica who work the outside area for breakfast were wonderful and super friendly. However if I didn’t have them there were some meals where we would go the entire meal without even being offered water.

The steakhouse and the manager of the steakhouse was great. Food was delicious there as well as Shanghai’s. We were never able to eat at the Mexican restaurant as there was always a 45+ minute wait.

Majority of the front desk staff were super friendly and helpful.

The bartenders were a hit or miss. Some super friendly others not.

The staff seemed to not care to hold people accountable as there were designated smoking areas and many times there would be people smoking near or around the pool and areas where children were. This is suppose to be a family friendly resort but spring breakers would be swearing left and right, yelling, screaming all hours of the day and night and yelling profanity and awful things like ni**er and hotel staff did nothing. It was hotel guests that told these people what they were saying was inappropriate and not ok.

The monkeys and wild animals were amazing and my kiddos loved.

Unfortunately overall we would not return as there are way more cons than pros to this hotel. We have stayed at the Rui in Aruba before and had an amazing time and the hotel, staff, and food were phenomenal. That is why we choose this hotel. However Rui Aruba puts this hotel to shame and we were massively unimpressed and unlikely to stay at a Rui again.

Room was very good. We first had a room on the 2nd floor. But that bed was terrible. Very hard. And if you turned, the other one would bounce out. Glad we could get a room with 2 single beds the next day. Every day your bed is made and the sand is swept from your room. Every day we gave 20 pesos to the young man. If you didn't feel the need to have the room cleaned for a day, just hang your red card in front of the door. Beautiful environment! Everything is nearby. Service was also good. Although there were some areas for improvement.
The rooms are very noisy. Fortunately, we didn't have any trouble sleeping. Because we always wear earplugs.

In any case, we had a great holiday!

I recommend this hotel! Top notch staff and very welcoming! The food is of very good quality and the buffet is varied! The All In is very generous, the drinks too 👌🏻
The rooms are very clean although they could be modernized a little.
The beach is just beautiful 🤩
The entertainment in the hotel is also great and very varied.
The hotel is 3 km from the center of Playa Del Carmen so very easily accessible by taxi or even on foot for the more motivated.
It was our first time at a Riu and we were not disappointed!
Thank you for this quality service 🇲🇽

This hotel makes its waitresses go to work even if they are sick, and if they go to insurance due to a disability, they deduct almost half of their fortnight. Their bosses treat them the worst, they should do something about this and I say this because an acquaintance was sick and so she had to go, her housekeeper treats her like a slave, I don't understand why they allow this, I hope someone does something with this hotel has slaves, not workers

Disgusting outdated rooms (bugs and stains, and etc) bed bugs for sure. good service from Housekeepers and “bartenders” don’t dare come here during spring break. The staff could care less about upholding any sort of respectful language standards and of general respectful behavior. Essentially the staff could care less about what goes on as long as they get there tip. No type of respectful standards or expectations held up or enforced by staff. We had young spring breakers running around at 10-11pm at night saying racial slurs at the top of the lungs towards African American the hotel staff didn’t care at all and they let kids on a regular basis be butt naked with no swim diaper or anything of the sorts float around in the pool. Great to be swimming with your kids and have chunks of poop floating around after you told hotel staff there are kids naked in the pool they don’t care. This place doesn’t deserve the RIU brand. Stayed in Aruba Riu hotel a few years ago and they put this place to shame. Greeter/host at the Mexican restaurant is extremely rude and abrasive, he does not hold up to the RIU brand. RIU corporate needs to make changes here asap. Assistant GM was the only saving grace who seemed to understand customer service and professionalism. Promote him.

Food was suberb at best, very low shelf liquor and I’m not even a a big drinker. Lots of recycled food. Stay somewhere else be warned.

Great place, beautiful clean beach with palm trees, providing pleasant shade. There are charming shops, car rentals and restaurants nearby. Safe and intimate. There is a place to walk along the streets inside the hotel zone. Beautifully kept nature and animals, such as monkeys, coatis and capybaras.

We spent a week here and really enjoyed ourselves. It was very clean, location was great, lots of great activities, and staff was friendly and accommodating. I will say though the food is absolutely TERRIBLE!!!! No matter how early you got there the food was always dried out, cold and cooked very poorly at all locations. They couldn't even make tacos right haha. The rooms are also quite dated and were bandaided in places.

The truth is that everything disappointed me
