"From start to finish, we were guided through Pearson and Cancun airports seamlessly. We had to wait 5 minutes for our transportation to The Royal Cancun; the same amount of time I occasionally wait for the subway! We were greeted as soon as we arrived and after cool scented washcloths and champagne we were strong enough to make it to our room. Did I say room? I mean 'our suite' overlooking the azure waters and sugary-white beach. (I haven't mentioned checking in because The Royal offers online check-in where we also picked our 'room'). There was a stocked bar, fridge, Jacuzzi and a lovely washroom with a great shower! Our room attendant told us he'd gladly switch out any product we did not want and replace it with one we preferred.
Our concierge helped at every possible opportunity. Whether getting restaurant reservations or arranging ground transportation, the concierges were invaluable and eager to accomplish. The pool attendants were plentiful and the wait staff attentive and prompt. The food ranged from deliciously fat pates to prime rib to burgers and everything between. We steered clear of the 'healthy' options because that's what holidays are for but we could have eaten healthier or even vegetarian because there's that many choices! We did find their specialty restaurants to not all that special and mostly ate at Spice Buffet. Asiana has a good tepanyaki show but I've had way better at our local Japanese restaurant. Their French restaurant was okay too but the biggest and best selection was at Spice.
The SpaAzul is terrific. The staff is terrific. Tranquil whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms and hibiscus juice are all inside; properly done I might add. The Warrior Massage was one of the best massages I've ever had. Spa services are not included but cost no more than I pay here, in Toronto. This idea of doing things properly is a part of The Royal Cancun. Whether it's the turn down service, a simple greeting in the hallway, a napkin crisply folded or a very dry martini, they hit the mark time after time without hesitation, without showing off, without having to be asked and without fussing. So many resorts make a point of showing off their service which can be quite uncomfortable; at the Royal Cancun, it's just how they do things and they do it without the flourishes and formality.
I don't have any negative things to say simply because I didn't see or hear anything. The bartenders found and returned a diamond bracelet our of our friend's lost. We left our camera behind at the pool, the next day, after describing it, they retrieved it from lost and found. An all inclusive resort can go to people's head often. Their sense of sudden importance often makes them horrible to be around. Happily, the other guests were experienced enough to just trust that the staff would do their job and more. The staff was friendly but not familiar, helpful and never stuffy. Lastly, a $1 tip per meal or per round of drinks goes a long way. The staff treated us no differently than guests who didn't tip (it's gratuities included after all!) but it's a simple matter of principle for us and we felt better for showing our appreciation this way. By the end of our 10 days, we'd spent an additional $60 in tips, $1 at a time.
The Royal Cancun exceeded my expectations and did not disappoint. Did I mention the daily activities, nightly shows and amazing days trips? Keep your eyes peeled for Chuy at Spice, Guadalupe, Ligia and Miranda at the Front Bar and poolside as well as Terry, Jose and Mariel at the Spa. The concierges, both named Jessica, were outstanding. Charity and Chris at Escapes.ca are wonderfully professional and know their stuff -- thanks!" [...]

"This all inclusive resort is the best of the best. We were thrilled by the quality of the food in all five restaurants with only one needing reservations. The staff are friendly and very helpful, with big smiles and cannot do enough to please you. The beaches are fabulous, and the water clean and warm, even on days with big rollers coming in and great boogie boarding.
The rooms are huge, and each one has a two person jacuzzi. Room service is quick and efficient and we increased our visit time from one week to two weeks. We have been coming to this resort for 6 years and have visited others in Playa del Carmen, but none compare. Exquisite vacation.
Sincerely

"Absolutely the best all inclusive holiday. You could not ask for better service, more smiles, or friendly attentive staff. The beach is outstanding (very soft white sand) The resort is Luxury + and is everything it should be. No kids under 18, and fun without a bunch of party animals. You will feel pampered, spoiled, and relaxed. Great weather in November, after the rains and before the high season. Very affordable if you compare value for money spent. We have visited other resorts in the area and nothing compares except the sister resort. We spent time at both locations, Cancun and Playa del Carmen and they are both fabulous." [...]

"My husband and I had never visited Cancun. We loved the Royal Cancun! The Royal is an adults only, all inclusive resort. The room was gorgeous and the people were very nice. The food was excellent and the restaurant choices were great. We would recommend this resort to anyone seeking a relaxing, adults only, affordable getaway." [...]
