Our Opnion

The Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is a huge resort set amongst beautiful gardens in a very relaxed setting. The back section of the resort is where you will find The Ciboney Villa Suites, these are very impressive with private pools, but are a bit farther from the beach. A multi-million dollar renovation in 2015 features a fresh, modern design aesthetic along with seven uniquely new Gourmet Discovery Dining options and a trendy Ochi Beach Club. Like most Sandals resorts, this one is definitely recommended for couples looking for romance and relaxation.

As a vacation it's nice to get away. Our room was in a "cottage" room itself was dated but when you're away, you won't spend much time inside it. We requested for ice and some beverages one night to our room and it took 3 days to arrive. Some of the employees were simply their to do their tasks and nothing more. We felt like an inconvenience sometimes when asking for something. For people with allergies the culinary teams are very accommodating and will meet with you and make sure you are comfortable and well fed. We had an issue with one supper where we didn't order a dessert and our waiter brought food out, we were a little confused and asked what we were given and the waiter replied with "I don't know but it checked all of your allergy boxes." which doesn't invoke much confidence. We asked for the chef for further clarification as to what we were given and once they came out they immediately ask "You didn't est any of that did you?" which no we hadn't "That cake is loaded with almonds." Thank you to chef Herman and Chef Paul for making dining wonderful.

Music in the restaurants are very repetitive. One meal you will hear the same song at least 3 times.

Patrice from Hillside running the entertainment was on point. Very fun individual and makes it hard to say no to play a fun game 🏐!

We have been to Sandals Ochi, twice so far in 2024. Both experiences have been excellent. I would especially like to thank Bancroft Roberts and Reynaldo in the Dive Shop! Great people and have been very helpful to us in obtaining out Elite Diver Status with Sandals. First trip we stayed up on the hill, and the Second was down by the beach. Both locations have their benefits. We will be back!

First comment I do have is a positive one and it is for our photographer for the week. Renardo was AMAZING! Beautiful pictures, amazing customer service with him and just all around great! I give him 10 stars!

Now for the not so great experience. There were several days our room was not cleaned even with the service light on. After calling and requesting it we still didn’t get our room cleaned. Had to ask for clean towels they brought us 2. The service in itself was subpar. Watered down alcohol. The food was ehh. We had a club level suite with a semi private pool that you share with 3 other rooms. The pool was big enough to maybe house 4 people at our room.

Every single time we ordered room service something was incorrect. The pool at our room was actually pretty gross. We paid for a cabana (which other resorts we’ve been to you don’t pay extra for that stuff) actually everything other than alcohol and food was an additional charge. The Reggae catamaran cruise was good too.

We then had our flights cancelled due to weather and could not get another one for 2 more days. Had to pay $500 a night to stay the extra 2 nights in a downgraded room with an even dirtier pool. We also had to sit from 10am until 2:30pm waiting on them to get this room ready. I was in jeans and a sweatshirt due to coming back to a colder state so I was basically forced to go spend another $200 at their gift shop just to get clothes and sandals so I didn’t cook and have a heat stroke from waiting on the room. My experience with Sandals was not the relaxing luxurious resort that they advertise on tv. I have more disappointments about the experience but to many to list. Needless to say we will not visit another Sandals resort.

Jamaica is a lovely country and the Jamaicans are wonderful friendly people. The resort was very nice, but not up to the same standard as st Lucia. This may be partly due to the fact that they had a new hotel open up in dunne falls and some of their staff had gone to help out. The restaurant staff were slow in a couple of the restaurants and in the Italian we'd finished in less than an hour!
The French onion soup in the French restaurant i had to send back as it was a bowl of melted cheese and there was less than 5ml of soup in the bowl, how've it had about 20ml when they brought the next bowl, so i gave up with that. The bar staff were amazing, super efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. The grounds were lovely too. The over water fish restaurant was closed for repairs which we hadn't been told about which was disappointing( it had been moved inside) but the repairs meant that that part of the resort was inaccessible. They had a great little transport system going on between the 3 Hotel area's called 'the hop', these left about every 10 minutes. Entertainment was ok, not over powering. The large pool is in need of some tlc as some of the tiles were missing, but i think they've done quite a good job of upgrading some things since the covid lockdowns. We had one of the upgraded rooms which was more modern and spacious than the ones shown in the brochures. Would highly recommend Jamaica and this resort, we were quite close to reception, it was lovely and quiet.

Our first time at any Sandals resort anywhere and we stayed 4 nights.
Apparently the one in Ochi was the second one ever built, back in 1989. And it shows. 😞 (We were at the lower property, by the beach. I don’t know how many pools there are, but there are a lot! The big, gorgeous main pool that they show all the pictures is at the property up on the hill, so if that’s what you’re looking for, make sure you specify that!)
The rooms and buildings have been painted, but I feel like those were possibly the only major upgrades. Pretty sure the musty, moldy bitter smell that hit me in the face when I walked into our room was from mold in the carpet. I don’t know why they don’t rip them all out and put tile in, it would make more sense in such a humid environment.
The beds were very hard, we had to ask for a bed topper, which helped a little bit. The pillows were nice and soft though. :-)
The doors creak, the door frames are old and need caulking, there are just so many things that they could upgrade and make it a classier resort. Especially if it’s a five star…. -_-

The drinks and food were unlimited, and they pour the drinks very stiff, which was wonderful! :-)
The food was nothing spectacular, but it was decent. With 16 (ish?) different restaurants, there’s plenty of variety. Unfortunately, between about 3 and 5 PM though, the only place to eat is a pizza place, which had a broken oven. And we waited 30 minutes for a pizza and then the people ended up disappearing and never came back.

Some of the people working there could also use an attitude adjustment. If you are in customer service, and people are paying this much money to stay at these resorts, you better have a good attitude. Otherwise, maybe find another job. :-/ by Tuesday morning we weren’t feeling very welcome, more like we were intruding on their personal space and we should leave. It was quite uncomfortable, but after the catamaran trip, we met some friendlier employees, and felt more welcome.
Nev was our “snuba” guide, and he was absolutely wonderful. Him and Gary are two of our favorite employees for sure, as well as Keisha. :-)
If you stay at this property, you must check out the rabbit hole— the speakeasy at the upper property. That’s probably my favorite part of the entire place!
I don’t know that I would return to this property simply because there are so many other ones to experience first, and there’s nothing I would miss about this one, if I never went back….

This was our third week-long trip to Sandals Ochi so we are familiar with the layout and we like the spread-out feel. We stayed beach-side as before, in a Club room, so we had a terrific view of the ocean. We liked our Riviera "east end" room as we didn't have the bar/patio below us. The room is the right size and very clean but well worn and the drawers in the chest did not close easily. We know rooms are being renovated, so we hope it happens quickly so we will benefit on our next trip. We enjoyed the food at all the restaurants though the service at Sky/Vista was spotty (we waited a long time for coffee refills at breakfast - the servers don't seem to be tuned in to keeping coffee carafes full on the tables, especially when one carafe only provides about one refill for each of the four of us.) It is worth pointing out that the service at the Bella Napoli was surprisingly unfriendly - we ordered from there twice thinking the second time would be better but it was not. Also, how can it be that we were told "about 20 minutes" and then 40+ minutes later when we went to check, be told again (in a decidedly unfriendly tone) it'll be "about 20 minutes." Especially when they were not that busy. Maybe the people there are annoyed at having to work near a hot oven, and they certainly let it rub off on their attitudes. Similar to another reviewer, we experienced some weak drinks at the bars - seemed spotty and depended on the bartender... as most were great - especially the signature cocktails at dinners. We had no problem getting chairs at the beach (we did stake them out at 8 am daily) and spent all days at the beach with interludes at the pool a couple days. The dock closure was disappointing as was the sea weed overgrowth in the contained area inside the dock, so we stayed further over away from the dock towards the beach activity area. In past years there were people periodically passing by to take drink orders and collect empty glasses, but not the case now - maybe a product of cost-cutting. It didn't hurt for us to get our own drinks but a "nice touch" service seemed missing and while we returned our glassware, not everyone did and they accumulated and were quite obvious at the end of the day. On a final note: The spa service was great - hat's off to Kedene (spelling?)! And the steel drum group was amazing / talented - they certainly played their hearts out. Despite some "small issues that can be improved," we really enjoyed our time at Ochi and always appreciate the warm Jamaican hospitality each time we visit.

We had an amazing time for our honeymoon at Ochi! The staff were super friendly and attentive to our needs and the food was incredible. Sanomi at the front desk was an absolute gem, and she was just so friendly anytime that we saw her. Shaquille was our favorite waiter, he had so much energy, and always made us laugh. Delvane did an incredible job with my massage and Facial! Then lastly Stash was just all around awesome! We cannot wait to come back soon! Only thing we don’t necessarily love is the long drive from the airport to the resort!

We had an amazing time celebrating our honeymoon at Sandals Ochi. Our butlers Kasen and Natalee were outstanding and made us feel right at home. They took care of our reservations as well as anything else we needed during our stay! I would highly recommend getting the butler service and request Kasen and Natalee as they will go above and beyond for you.

Long drive (90+ minutes) from the airport in a very cramped mini bus didn't get us off to a good start. However, the resort itself is very large and very well maintained. Plenty of restaurants and bars, as well as a bunch of pools to choose from. The food is the best I have ever had at a resort, it's delicious no matter where you go! The staff are awesome and make you feel welcome. If you're staying at the Great House, a quick bus ride on the Hop will get you to the beach and more restaurants. The grounds and gardens are beautiful!

The only 5* rating hotel has the the staff , who go out there way to make your stay as good as possibly can ,There is no way this a 5* Resort ,Lets start with the rooms we stayed in a honeymoon room with garden view, we arrived late and given a ground floor room which I had requested 1st floor one nest spoke with reception and they duly obliged and changed the room, The rooms are dated and very tired and in urgent need of upgrading and brightening up draws very hard to open window shutters closed and held shut with screws doors to the terrace had gap in them could not close properly so you heard all the noise from outside which was bad at time especially when they were collecting plates etc from outside peoples rooms the trolls had hard wheel and would clatter around at all times during the night. There were several restaurants onsite and visited most of them By a country mile the French was the best excellent food and presentation Staff most accommodating closely followed by the Japanese restaurant were we had 1 exceptional night and a second visit not so good. Piano bar restaurant very average as with the Italian , The sky vista restaurant menu very repetitive and at breakfast was like a cattle market and breakfast extremely receptive and was obviously geared for the American guest,s . I did couple of excursions and had a excellent time visiting Dunns river falls and the Bob Marley tour both excellent days over all I made the most our stay but not 5* I am used to , but would like take this opportunity to say thank to the staff who excellent

We just came back from our 7 day vacation. This resort has some age but I actually like the taste its traditional settings like the layout of all the rooms and amenities. The food was nice as usual as other Sandals, the people over there are very nice and always trying to make sure you are doing well.

Very coardenating style.

This was an amazing holiday, but the one thing that made it Magical was Robert & Peta-Gaye our Butlers.

This team is the reason we have decided to come back to Ochi! Thanks for making our short stay in Jamaica Amazing!

First time ever at Sandals Ochi and we had the best time ever! The Resort was absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean, very well maintained pools and gardens. A gorgeous setting.

We stayed in the Butler Village and our accommodation was just beautiful, newly refurbished bungalow with our own pool, it had everything we needed. Our 2 Butlers, Scott & Dontae were absolutely amazing and looked after us soooo well, ensuring we had everything we needed and they went the extra mile to ensure we had a fabulous stay. We cannot thank them enough for looking after us, absolute gentlemen!

Every member of staff at this Resort is amazing, they always had a smile on their faces and couldn’t do enough for you. Sandals Ochi are so lucky to have such great staff!

Special mention also to our housemaid, Sherika. She kept our bungalow spotless and arranged coffee and creamer when we ran out, even though she was going off shift. She was just great.

The catamaran cruise to Dunn’s River Falls is an absolute must! Organised by Island Routes it was fab. The crew on board were fantastic and had everyone dancing and singing all the way there and back!!

Thank you everyone at Ochi, we loooved everything about this Resort and we’ll definitely be back!

We stayed at Sandals Ochi for 9 nights from late February 2024 into early March. This is our tenth time at this resort, so you know we like it. It is a big resort with buses (The Hop) to help you get around. In particular, Tenaj at Sky Vista was very helpful and always had a big smile for us.

We found the entertainment at the amphitheatre to be too loud much of the time. The sound was distorted, which made voices harder to understand. We were able to hear the entertainment at a comfortable volume from our balcony.

This is a lovely resort with beautiful gardens, lovely beaches and terrific food. We stayed on the resort almost the whole time. And it's the most economical Sandals, too. You won't be disappointed.

Great resort, something for everyone. Perfect weather. Not the biggest beach but plenty of lovely pools to take advantage of. Lots of great food and drinks flow all day!

Will be back loved it service was #1 food great recommend kimonos 👌

Me and my husband really enjoyed our visit to Sandals Ochi. The resort has a variety of activities so you never get board; however, if you want to relax, that is also available. The resort has a large number of restaurants with a variety of food options. In addition the food is very delicious. In the evenings after dinner, the resort has a variety of shows and games which are fantastic. I stayed in one of the butler suites and my butlers Akeem and Donovan were the best. Akeem and Donovan are extremely knowledgeable about the entire resort. Akeem and Donovan made me and my husband's vacation so special. This is my second time staying at the resort and we had Akeem and Donovan for our first trip and when we returned, we request them again. They did such an awesome job both times and for this reason, I will be returning again.

Shout out to :

Damonie provided great service around the pool area. Keep up the great job man. Everyday this young man greeted me and asked if everything was good and if he can do anything for me and my family.

Ralston always around the pool area by the towels, he always happy/friendly. Thank you Ralston for the towels everyday. You are a gentlemen.

Rudolph doing a great job at the beach ⛱️ . Good looking out and keep working hard. Iam glad you explain everyone the rules and regulations on the beach and in the water. Rudolph saves lives , believe it or not.

Dave works on the beach with Rudolph, and he's awesome. Dave's knows how to ride those boats safely. He makes sure all the people are alive and safe.

At the buffet Kijile, Danisha, Treshawna , all 3 of them were excellent. Even the manager man , his name is Parcival and he traveled the world and went on cruise ships, sorry if I got your name wrong . I Couldn't keep up with all the employee's .

Oh and at the Bar Maradonna was awesome how can I forget his name...he makes great drinks. One of the best drinks made is by Maradona. Must get a drink made by Maradona.

I kept bumping into Ronaldo and when I looked across Maridonna was there , I was like wow Maridonna and Ronaldo....I had to ask them if thise were their real names...I never in my life met a Ronaldo and Maridona at the same time...what a coincidence. Anyways Ronaldo is very friendly.

Hakeem is a great young man...he brought up my suitcases to my room carefully.

I wish I could have stayed longer. Beautiful resort. Great Food, Room, Employees, I truly loved this place.

I can't believe I remembered alot of employees names. I never do at all the other resorts .

I hope this review is brought up to management and all the employees I mentioned get credit.

Our first time at a Sandals resort and it did not disappoint! You can tell the difference in service and amenities compared to non Sandals. I highly recommend Ochi if you like a more lively resort.
