Take my word, you will enjoy everything from the rooms, services, food, drinks, people to entertainment. The staff was wonderful. 99.9% of the people that I met off the resort were very nice, and not one time was I in danger. Pier one has a few great restaurants.
Reply to St. James. I would not visit your site. Thank you.
Overall it is a nice place, just started to get a little dated... I was there 4 years ago and not much has changed accept its a bit more dated as I mentioned... I can only eat so much Jerk chicken, so it would be nice to see the menus expanded also... Still a decent place to get away and it is safe.
The staff were well trained and real friendly and accommodating.
I truly fulljoyed my stay.
Where shall I start? I’ve been to so many Secrets resorts before but this one was horrible. It does not deserve more than 2 starts maximum and that is because the weather was beautiful. The room is very average. The service is terrible and the people are very rude. First, when you try to find a seat at the beach you can’t. I woke up at 6:45 am, 6:45 AM and all the chairs at the beach and the pool were taken, at 6:45 AM!!! You can’t get a beach towel because some stupid reasons. The towel lady asked me to get her food from the preferred club buffet because she was hungry right after she refused to give me a beach towel. The food is nasty, I understand it’s an all inclusive resort but the food was terrible, the fruits were all old and mushy. To top it all off, there was at least a one hour wait for every single restaurant!! The Amstar guy was so rude, he was on his personal cell phone number while we were trying to book our horse back riding activity with him. Room service was terrible and the ladies were so mean and rude. People go on vacation to relax and have a good time, unfortunately that was not the case with our stay. If you’re planning your next trip and reading this review, please stay away from this resort.
Rooms were ok. A little out dated. Dane and chance our butlers were amazing. More on the quiete side for us we would like a bit more entertainment. Food was ok at best... nothing was like wow!!
Absolute party fun
I honestly feel like I was in a different resort after looking at the other favorable reviews. This place is absolutely terrible. The rooms and buildings are run down and dirty. There were door knobs missing, buckled floors and chipped paint. Our tub (which I wouldn't have used anyway) was not cleaned from the previous guest, as there was soap scum in the bottom and we had worm-like bugs in our sinks. At check-in, you are forced to speak with the time-share people who are rude and relentless in their duty to sign you up for a presentation. One girl said, "Quit being bougie" when we said we weren't interested. It is impossible to get a pool or beach chair unless you take an item down at 6:30-7 AM to reserve a spot. There is only sporadic wait staff at the pools or beach... so you serve yourself from the bar, which isn't handy for some of the pool/beach areas. The pool staff tries to get a Spring Break vibe going by spraying foam and playing loud thumping music... which is fine, if that's what you came to do. We were given a 45 minute wait at the Italian restaurant and a 90 minute wait at the seafood restaurant... so trying to have dinner is a major feat. We finally got room service. The food is average, at best... the meal we enjoyed the most was the jerk chicken at the walk up beach shack... which has about 4 tables... so you end up standing to eat your lunch. This resort does not have the leisure or dining space for the number of guests they receive.
We ended up leaving after only 2 days... we didn't care that we were losing our vacation $$... that's how bad Secrets Montego Bay is! When my husband went to inform them of our early check out, they acted stunned and said the manager, Serene Lloyd, would call our room within 1 hour... she didn't call. When we were catching our ride to the airport, again the check-out staff acted perplexed at our dissatisfaction and said Serene Lloyd would call or email us... that hasn't happened either!
From the reviews and website, we thought we were paying for a quiet, luxury beach vacation. If you are looking for the same, this IS NOT the resort for you! This is a run-down hotel with poor service, rude and inattentive staff, insufficient quantity of amenities for guests, average food (if you can get any!) and a dismissive management staff.
Great scenery, food, and atmosphere. The problem is that you have to get a towel at the break of dawn and bring it to a seat outside before anyone wakes up because they overbook the hotel and if you don’t do this you will not have somewhere to sit outside. The dinner service at all of the restaurants is pitifully slow because of overbooking. You will wait hours for dinner if you don’t line up atleast an hour before they open. Additionally trying to do anything offsite they had our information wrong and we were stopped and questioned every step of the way as to why some information was wrong when we had nothing to do with it. They had us down to check out a day early for whatever reason
Excellent experience. I will be returning.
I loved this place in Jamaica, it is all inclusive and the service is excellent, I have no complaints because this place is beautiful and the food is very delicious...I recommend it!!
One word: fantastic! It’s not a lavish five-star property like a Ritz or Four Seasons, but I absolutely enjoyed my stay. The customer service was outstanding for every single service and meal. The resort campus, beachfront, and pools are very nice; rooms are just a little bit dated but that was easy to overlook given the wonderful experiences we had everywhere else. Truly, no complaints.
I would go back in a heartbeat!
This resort has the best food compared to the other resorts I've been to.
We keep coming back. Food, drinks, views, pools, ocean, 15 minutes from the airport.
Amazing service. Good value for the price.
Grounds could use some work but other than that trip was great. Restaurants good food and service. Even came to our patio with drinks. Bartenders fun especially O’Brian. Front Desk great. Felt very safe even during high crime in the area. Heated pool would be a nice upgrade.
Cruze made the most amazing cocktails - super friendly. Amazing costumer service across the board & Kerrianne at the preferred pool bar is just lovely. Super helpful and attentive. 5 star review just for them, they made it spectacular !
Food was subpar compared to other all-inclusives we have done. Some staff were great, but others were not good at all. At El Patio, 3 tables that were seated after us all got their food before us, and our server was awful. Junior at Bordeaux was the BEST by far. NO LOBSTER at any of the restaurants...even the seafood spot! We will not return. The beach was not manicured. Lots of seaweed and stones/small rock.
Excellent service
Some of the rooms are a bit old but the place is gorgeous and the service is fabulous!
Outstanding experience from top to bottom. A great variety of food, drinks, and things to do. The rooms were well maintained, but slightly outdated. The only other negative was the distance between the preferred side and the dining areas. But, if I have to walk a little extra along a beautiful jamaican beach to get to dinner, then so be it. Beaches were always clean and seating was in good condition. The grounds were meticulous and safe at all hours. Our first trip to Jamaica will not be our last and we would gladly come here again
