The experience at Hotel Sol Palmeras in Varadero was simply extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with unparalleled warmth. The staff, led by Osiris, the Quality Manager, demonstrated exceptional commitment to customer service. The natural beauty of the surroundings, with its lush trees and the stunning Varadero beach, added a magical touch to our stay. The quality of the food, both in variety and taste, exceeded our expectations at every meal. The pool, perfectly maintained, offered an oasis of relaxation under the Caribbean sun. The restaurants, with their culinary diversity, allowed us to enjoy a unique gastronomic experience. Without a doubt, Hotel Sol Palmeras is a gem in Varadero that I would recommend to anyone seeking a luxurious retreat amidst tropical paradise.

Excellent hotel, the facility is very clean, the beach too. The service is that of a 5-star hotel, the food is varied and of excellent quality, all the workers are super friendly to customers without exception. If you like to take photos, the bathrooms in the lobby are an excellent place to do so, always super clean and beautiful. My room with an incredible pool view. I'll be back. Thanks to the gex experience staff for all the efforts, they are the best thing about the hotel

very good hotel. all recommendations.

I was with my family in this hotel. I had a wonderful time. The service at another level, the customer service guys are the best. Super helpful. The beach is a dream and the food varied, I can't complain. I'll be back

Just came back. This was the third time for us and we loved it!!!! The staff is amazing! Our cleaning lady was so loving and left us some notes. The food at buffet had a lot of assortments and servers were amazing. We tried all 3 Restaurants and our favourite was Latino! The beach is the best!!! Thank you!

Such an amazing resort! Everyone was so kind and helpful. I have celiac and I was so well taken care of! I had my own breakfast made every morning. All the restaurants had GF options for me! I got to know the head chef and he was a tremendous help.

Entertainment team were all lovely!

Would definitely recommend for anyone travelling with food sensitivities!

We rested in Sol Palmeras in the second half of February 24.

The hotel met all expectations and we did not regret choosing it.
The hotel is not without its drawbacks, but they are not critical. About the cons at the end.
Sol Palmeras is an honest 4*, which is better than many 5* in Varadero.

We booked our accommodation on our own and paid upon arrival.

NUMBER.
We reserved a Junior Suite (2 adults + child 12 years old)
We lived in the main building on the 4th floor.
The description of the room says that it has a view of the pool, but in fact the room turned out to be a “garden” view (view of the courts). The bay and a small piece of ocean are visible.
They did not argue about the issued number that did not correspond to the description, because We thought it would be quieter, and overall there were no complaints about the room.

The room area is indicated as 63 m2, in fact it has a large balcony, which I would even say is too large (about 1/3 of the entire room).
The room has been renovated, but the furniture is still tired. The TVs are large and new, the refrigerator freezes perfectly. Two air conditioners (but they seemed a little noisy to me even at the minimum level (which is difficult to install).
No insects were seen in the room.

The room description also states:
- "Welcome upon arrival." It's not clear what this is about. This did not happen.
- "Daily replenished minibar." There are also big questions for replenishment. Upon arrival, the minibar was filled with water, 2 colas, 2 beers. On the second day the minibar was replenished. On the third day, no, the fourth is empty again. I asked the cleaning lady a question, she replied that she only refills water and in general replenishes only upon arrival. We contacted the service department, they confirmed that the minibar should be replenished. After the call, the cleaning lady came and brought drinks. In the following days, the replenishment occurred very strangely. At approximately 9 o'clock in the morning, an employee walked along the floor and served drinks, BUT provided that at that moment someone was in the room. That is, he knocked on the door and if someone was there, then “ok”, he refilled the minibar. The problem is that the "detour" was during breakfast, and this detour was very easy to miss. It’s not clear why replenishment cannot be done through the cleaning lady! This is not convenient and is definitely a disadvantage, albeit a minor one.

FOOD.
No complaints about the food. We never left hungry. But you need to understand that food can be very different from month to month. I especially liked the cheeses. We often snacked on burgers that were prepared near the exit by the ocean.

TERRITORY.
A large area with plenty of room to walk. Hummingbirds, little gray herons, and 3 species of lizards were observed in the area.
Beautiful big beach.

WHAT WE LIKED:
- honest 4*.
- good food, good alcohol.
- friendly staff* (*except for reception).
- territory
- beach
- animation

WHAT WE DISLIKED:
- not everything that is indicated in the room description corresponds to reality.
- the room description indicates late check-out (15:00), 2 days before check-out they came and clarified this point, they confirmed to us that it is indeed possible until 15:00, but we need to come up and inform us on the day of departure. On the day of departure, in the morning after breakfast, they approached us, unblocked our cards, but said that we had to leave before 14:00 (the arguments that we were confirmed the time two days earlier and that the website indicated 15:00 did not help).
- cleaning the area and the beach. I can't say that the area and the beach are dirty. No! But still, I saw some pieces of paper and rags for several days in a row. And this is right next to the main building, next to the path along which someone constantly walks. The farther you go, the more often you encounter garbage.
I'm not talking about leaves, coconuts, bark - this is normal, I'm talking specifically about household waste from humans.
If they clean up the beach, it is very rare and only large trash.
You only need to put in a little cleaning effort and it will be a joy to the eye.

P.S.: Unfortunately, I have seen more than once how vacationers from the near northern countries littered on the beach right at their feet (cups, cigarette butts), although there was a trash can 5 meters away. Just disgusting and disrespectful towards other vacationers and hotel staff.
There was also a proposal to the animators to organize an activity with prizes for cleaning the beach by vacationers, but the idea was not supported. (

We are in Cuba, so you cannot expect it to have the same conditions as a normal European hotel, for example.

Friendliness is not the strong point (it's the same in restaurants), there are positive exceptions in some areas, like the guy at the gym. They are helpful when requested. Those at the pool bar, and canoes/pedals on the beach are the minus.

There was never a shortage of food, and it was good, with a very positive highlight being the barbecue by the pool. In themed restaurants the portions served are minimal.

We took the excursion to Cayo Blanco, arranged at reception, and everything went well.

Payment by card only.

It did the trick, so I recommend it!

Charming in every way, great quality and warmth in all services

I was in this hotel with my wife and daughter. I had a wonderful time. The service is the best thing the hotel has. In Varadero this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff is excellent. Everyone is friendly. The customer service guys are always attentive and make welcome and farewell calls. The food is varied and of good quality, the beach is heavenly

The stay at this hotel has been indescribable. Totally wonderful. The best hotel I have had the privilege of visiting. Thanks to all the staff, without exception. The attention has been very special and extremely professional.
A well-deserved recognition to the recreation group, because it has kept the vibe very high and positive. I dare say that without them the stay would not have been the same.
I am happy, energized and delighted with this hotel. God willing we will return soon. Congratulations and thank you very much

We went to Sol Palmeras in March 2024, my mother, my sister and me. The first bungalow we had was stuck in the parking lot and in poor condition. We were disappointed so we asked for a change and they moved us to another bungalow very quickly. The second bungalow was much nicer, clean and definitely better maintained than the first. The service from the people there was great, they are kind, smiling and caring. As soon as we had a problem (eg: the water stopped working one afternoon) they came quickly to resolve it. Plus the buffet was very good, we never lacked anything and there was almost everything. The beach is long and magnificent, transparent water, white sand. There is a lot of entertainment (dance, shows, beach party), the staff make a lot of effort to get everyone involved. Additionally, the hotel is very well located, about 20 minutes from the city of Varadero by bus, which is very easy to take and not expensive.

Our family of five had a very disappointing experience at Sol Palmeras. We arrived in Varadero on March 10 at 8 PM as scheduled. The ground transportation kept us waiting in the bus for 50 minutes before taking us to the resort. We checked in at 9:50 PM and were assigned two bungalows in Zone 4 which is very far from the hotel. We wanted to go to our bungalows but the trolley was not available to take us. We were advised to order snacks from the bar behind the reception area since the buffet would close soon at 10 PM. The bar refused to give us any snack because the buffet hadn’t closed yet. So we rushed with our luggage to the buffet and were ushered to a table. As we were sitting down, a supervisor came over and asked us to leave because the buffet would close in 5 minutes. We went over to the Guest Services manager (Maria) and literally begged for food because our hungry grandchildren were crying and I, a diabetic, had slipped into hypoglycemia. We hadn’t eaten since noon and the Sunwing flight hadn’t given any snack. Maria essentially told us that we "should have planned to come early.” She asked us to wait for half an hour and then “purchase” a snack from the bar. Only at 10:45 PM, one paltry bread and cheese sandwich was available per head. So much for an “all-inclusive” package.

The shuttle trolley took us to our far-flung bungalows at 11:15 PM. The next morning it became obvious that it would be impossible for my 72 year old wife to walk the 15 minute walk to each meal three times a day. We requested a bungalow near the hotel but were denied. We then requested a room within the hotel (which is smaller and less expensive than a bungalow). That led to another saga of difficulties. There was construction going on in a large section of the hotel and the elevator was always out of service. Wi-Fi did not work, no matter how much we tried, and we had no access to the internet.

Our overall impression of the resort is that while employees who expect to receive tips are generally pleasant, those who do not (e.g. reception desk) have an uncaring, unfriendly attitude. Even the Sunwing reps to whom we related our difficulties simply shrugged their shoulders.

The food we ate at the buffet, the outdoor grill and in two indoor restaurants was of mediocre quality at best. There were continual shortages of certain food items at the buffet. Neither Sol Palmeras nor Sunwing had informed us before booking that food shortages are endemic in Cuba. Within the buffet hall, birds had nested in and around light fixtures and would periodically fly over the heads of guests while eating. I actually saw a bird eat out from the plate of a guest when he left his table to fetch something.

The standards of maintenance of the grounds and of the rooms and hallways are nowhere near the standards we expect in Canada or the standards we had known at other Caribbean resorts. The only good thing about this resort is the beach but then it’s a common denominator with many resorts in Veradero.

A very nice and clean hotel

Great weather
Great beach
Cold rum

Loved my stay and would definitely recommend!

My husband and I visited in February for a week. The beach was fantastic, conveniently close to the shopping mall and Dupon House (a must-visit), with plenty of food and household supplies available. However, the downside was the very weak and slow internet connection, only accessible in the lobby and pool area, with NO WiFi sIN THE ROOM. Despite the hotel's claim of internet coverage throughout, this was not accurate.

Undergoing renos but very friendly people and accommodating.

We are super, good food, the attention and reception at the reception was the best so I want to thank the people at the reception. We love good cocktails, the entertainment team is good, if you have any complaints, the customer service guys are always ready and with the best disposition and it goes without saying that the beach is phenomenal.
