Our Opnion

An amazing hotel for those looking for a romantic getaway in Cancun. The Sun Palace is known for its romantic ambiance. Rooms are well maintained and always cleaned. The views from the rooms are incredible. You're always guaranteed to have an ocean view room when you book at this resort. The staff here are amazing in ensuring that you are served in a prompt manner. For those who are looking for a more intimate experience, the Sun Palace offers barely more than 200 suites. It can be ensured that your stay will be a quiet one. Good food options when it comes to the buffet. Better options though lie with the a la cartes. The best thing that this resort offers is the beach. It's one of the best in Cancun.

Stayed there in March '24 and it was very crowded with rich snobby people who reserved all the lounge chairs by the pool and in the 1st rows along the beach by 7am every morning. Many never even sat in their reserved chairs all day but hogged them up just in case they felt like sitting there later. Staff is always very nice but the guests were not. Resort is better during off-season when it's less crowded and more budget conscious visitors are there. Less snobbery and rudeness (like shoving their way to the front of the bar in front of us less "white priveleged" people).

This place is amazing. Service is phenomenal! Awesome pools & beach:) Food is pretty darn good too. One hell of a value$$

One of the nicest resorts we've been to. All inclusive with everything you could ever want. Gorgeous property!

They will try to corner you for a membership after check in. They are high pressure!

At Sun Palace Cancun, the only thing clearer than the turquoise waters was the realization that my wife and I are hilariously bad at synchronized swimming, yet unbeatable at synchronized cocktail tasting. This resort is where diets go to die gloriously, and love handles are just another souvenir from a vacation well-spent.

We had an amazing getaway! The staff was great and the rooms were amazing. I appreciate their use of technology to make little things like room service privacy and wanting your room cleaned easy.
Plenty of food and drinks.
While the food was a very good quality the portions were small but that just allowed you to explore more foods.

While this resort had a beautiful beach and was close to the airport, the positives pretty much stop there.

Our problems started with the private vehicle airport transportation that we paid an extra $180 for. The description of this service stated that it would provide refreshments such as beverages. Neither of our vehicles provided any beverages or refreshments of any kind.

The second issue was the room service we ordered on our second day. We waited over an hour and eventually noticed it was marked as "delivered" in the app but we had never gotten a knock or ring at the door although we were in the room the entire time. We called down and they eventually sent our food up after the phone call, but by the time we received it the food was cold.

We also had one reservation at one of the restaurants, Trattoria, during our stay. The reservation was for 8:30pm, and we were very prompt, arriving at about 8:20pm. They were not able to seat us until about 8:45pm. This restaurant did not have any waiting area to sit, so we were standing this entire time. It was disappointing as we were already quite hungry due to the late reservation time and had to wait so long past our reserved time to even be seated.

We booked a tour through the Palace Vacation planners. While the tour was very fun, the description of the tour provided by the planners was very lacking and my husband and I were unfortunately under-prepared for what ended up being a 13-hour day off the resort. Had we been provided the specific itinerary, we would have packed more snacks and beverages for such a long day. Additionally, the shuttle driver for this tour was very erratic and the shuttle was over-packed with passengers.

On the 4th day of our stay, the lock to our hotel room door broke and we were unable to use our bracelets to get in. We immediately notified the front desk who advised us that security would immediately address the issue and fix what was most likely a broken battery. After about two hours, we returned to the room, expecting it to be fixed, but security still had not addressed the issue. We waited by the room for the security guard, Giovanni, to arrive and he scanned our lock and said he would return in 5 minutes. We waited in the room for over 2 more hours for him to come back, missing out on time by the beach or pool because we did not want to miss his return. It seemed like our concerns about the lock getting fixed were simply not a priority for security that day.

Additionally, for the last several days of our stay our room and the overall resort had a musty smell that seeped into our luggage and saturated many of our belongings. Unfortunately, we will be discarding one of our carry on bags because it is not washable and we are not able to get the smell out.

The last concern we have is the lack of poolside service. There seems to be multiple poolside staff but we had difficulty getting any service or acknowledgement from them despite offering generous tips.

We did the wine tasting with sommelier Alexandria, who was excellent and if you do find yourself at this resort I would recommend this experience.

Overall, the resort looks promising but service is seriously lacking and although we notified staff of these issues both is real time and after our stay, no remediation was offered. We will not be returning to Sun Palace.

Sun Palace was an awesome get away. It’s only 15 minutes from the airport so that’s super convenient. Beach access is great because you can walk to the beach from the restaurant. Staff was super friendly and accommodating! Lots of food options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They always have some kind of show for guests at night. If you are looking for a loud party vibe with a lot of young people this isn’t the place. It’s a lot calmer than that and we loved it. We will definitely be back.

Terrible hotel! I prepaid for 6 rooms months ago and when we arrived they said they did not have our rooms available. They said they overbooked and no longer had our rooms! Can you imagine traveling all the way to Mexico and hearing this? Such an awful experience. They moved us to a lesser quality property and refused to reimburse us for the difference. I will never use Palace Resorts again and I encourage you to not book them either.

Adults-only hotel. located near the Playa delfines.
The food is good, the staff super friendly. The location is top, and the rooms are very comfortable with an incredible view.

My husband and myself are seasoned all-inclusive Mexico travellers, so we’ve experienced a wide variety of luxury resorts. This resort has felt like a luxury prison, although I’m sure your opinion will differ if you are a “diamond” member.

For us regular folks booking at this hotel, heed my warning: you will pay an exorbitant amount of money for a luxury experience, but will feel bottom tier. If the hotel is nearing capacity, you’ll need to make it down before 7am if you want a good chair at the pool, and that’s assuming there are any left since the diamond members can pre-book them. The beach usually has a few spots available, but again, about 1/3 of the beach is reserved for diamond members.

As for the food: I’ve never been so sick at a resort in my life, and had to get the doctor in so I could keep fluids down. Although I can’t say for sure that it was food poisoning, I would highly suspect it after being served multiple like-warm meals and seeing sushi from the lunch buffet sitting at room temperature.. which I didn’t eat, and hope nobody else did. I also overheard a few other people state that they’d become sick as well after eating dinner. Who knows really.. but if I’m going to get sick from the food, at least make it taste better lol. * My expectations for resort food are reasonable for the resort types we’ve stayed at. I was actually shocked at how bad the food was at this resort, and considered living off of Nutella crepes like the other person did in a previous review *

The service: The employees here really look after you, and it’s the only reason I’m not giving the resort a 1 star. They obviously tend to the diamond members more, but don’t neglect us normies either.

Will I be back again? No, but it seems like they have a decent following from their 💎 squad

Palace resorts are the best in Mexico!

Adults ONLY 💕 Beautiful and amazing location, staff is awesome, rooms are spacious with beautiful ocean views, heated pools and several resort restaurants that change the food theme every other day, I haven’t had a meal that wasn’t delicious. Staff is friendly and engaging. This is our vacation resort of choice. We loved it so much we became members of the Palace Elite resorts💕awesome shows to entertain you in the evening. Very pleased with our stay.

Post renovation one of the best hotels in the Hotel Zone. Great restaurants

Great vacation!!! The entertainment staff was incredible, especially my friend Jonathon. Lots of stuff to do. The food was good. Some of the restaurant's has slow service, but what the heck? I was not in a hurry, here to slow down and relax.

Scammers. Avoid Palace Resorts at all cost

Been one of the best experiences I have had in my life. The staff is incredible, spa treatment was heavenly. We also took a taxi to town so we could check out some shops and a local rock climbing gym, was maybe a half hr from our hotel. Pools and beach access are great! Love this space.

Fantastic everything

Our second stay... food, service excellent, staff friendly... we will definitely stay again...

This is one of the best vacations I've ever had. The resort is beautiful and great for people who are looking to get away and just relax! The Sun Palace resort is great! It has so many wonderful things to offer! A fantastic beach view, good food, and wonderful staff that are always available and extremely respectful.

I truly had an incredible time and I owe much of the credit and the fun we had on our trip to the best entertainment crew in all of Cancun! Specifically, Pedro, Desiree, Roberto, and Johnathan were amazing, funny, and really know how to get the guests involved to have fun and relax all at the same time! I will most definitely be back at Sun Palace! Also a big thank you to Eric at the coffee shop! You are amazing and thank you for taking such good care of all the guests! You're always smiling and so polite and it was really appreciated! I found a resort that I have every intention of coming back to! Loved the overall experience and the resort.
