Worst room experience I have ever had. We were in room 419 and the minute we walked into the room we were met with a hard MOLD smell. We immediately informed the person helping us with our bags. We later complained again and a person was sent to the room to spray the curtain and bathroom with about 3sprays of deodorizer. My wife became ill, could nit breathe, eyes watering. We complained again downstairs and on our last night at 10pm we were moved to another room. To our surprise, the new room also smelled of mold but not as strong as 419. We kept the sliding doors open our entire time to have fresh air. We will never book this resort again. We told them they needed to clean the room vents and air intake.

We have been coming here for a few years and love the staff, service and views - direct ocean view from every room. But the building is not being maintained well since the addition has been slowly being done- about 7 yrs. so far! We are currently here and parts of the building have not had air conditioning for a week, and now all the A/C is out in ALL rooms! The staff is great - the management is NOT!

Been here twice with my family and will return. Very quiet resort with EXCELLENT service and 5 star fancy food. The menus rotate and they will make you anything you want to eat! Top notch 5 star all the way!

AMMENED AFTER 4TH TRIP HERE. They are no longer keeping up with building maintenance. Many things are broken and many rooms the air does not work correctly. We called maintenance, no one came.
The kicker is when my wife rode horse on The property they fell into a 4 ft hole that was covered with a piece of plywood. Both the horse and my wife are injured very badly. We will pick a new resort next year!

The staff is friendly & and has a good working ethic. The butler was very accommodating and made sure that all our needs were met & followed through with the things that were missing. The cleaning staff & waiters are awesome! 👌

Everything was super good, all the staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was very calm, super good

Terrible not a resort! This is a cheap looking hotel bad food. Front desk people lie and tell only what they have to cover the underwhelming service and activities. Never cleaned our room only changed towels. This is not a resort and not suites.

Review of Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa:

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5 stars)

Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa is a haven of serenity, primarily catering to families and elderly couples. This calm environment was exactly what my wife and I were looking for in a vacation – a place to relax and unwind, rather than a party scene.

Special mentions Armando for suggesting great tour options that added an exciting dimension to our stay. The dining experience was delightful with varied dinner options and skilled bartenders who ensured our drinks were always enjoyabl

Let me point out the Armando the pool server was the best server I have ever experienced. He will be the reason I come back

For those seeking peace, the adult-only pool offers a quiet escape. The resort is also family-friendly, featuring a kids club for those traveling with children. The beachfront location is idyllic, offering direct beach access and stunning room views.

While the room service food was average, housekeeping maintained our room impeccably. The staff’s genuine care in getting to know guests and treating them like family made our honeymoon an unforgettable experience.

This resort is a perfect retreat for those seeking a tranquil vacation. It's not suited for young adults looking for a high-energy party scene. My wife and I are already planning our next trip, this time bringing my parents to share this wonderful, peaceful experience. Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa is an outstanding choice for a relaxing and memorable stay.

Place was in a great location but the building is old, musty smell and half of the building is an unfinished construction site, which is an eyesore. Tile falling off in the "hot tub" which is lukewarm, elevator missing the button to my floor, so I had long waits for the one functioning elevator. Staff is good, food was mostly good. Front desk rude, defensive and even aggressive when approached with issues. I appreciated that there was no loud music and that there is an adult pool. Very pretty view but I felt scammed by this place because the money spent definitely didn't match the value and the photos totally misrepresent how run down the place is.

You might not get what you pay for. While the staff is friendly, as of January 2024, ongoing construction results in noise on working days. The resort, unfortunately, reflects signs of extremely deferred maintenance, evident in broken curbs, chairs, a lukewarm Jacuzzi, and worn-out towels, to name a few. Additionally, the complimentary Internet speed is throttled to less than 1mbps, forcing guests to opt for the premium version, just an example of how hard they try to monetize guests. Although there's minimal timeshare sales pressure, it's advisable to wait at least two years before considering a visit due to these concerns.

The hotel in general is good although we had cockroaches in our room and I think it is a little old and needs maintenance, the service of the waiters is very good, they are very friendly and attentive and the location is very good

Good place for a short stay—anything longer than a few days you start to see the cracks. It’s a deal and cheap which is evident through the stay. When the hotel tries to do more—they show their inadequacies.

They have a major construction project going on—building a second tower so there is construction noise throughout the day and a bit of an eyesore. See pictures.

Check-in is smooth. You meet with a time-share “concierge” before taken to your room. They have butlers but in name only. I’m not sure their purpose beyond bell hop duties.

The pool and property are beautiful with lots of space. The pool has different areas for playing and hanging. The pool staff is attentive and hustles all afternoon. The pool deck goes right up to the beach where vendors are selling things. The beach is public so there is a lot of foot traffic and noise but convenient for going back and forth during the day. We were there has a family and the kids were allowed to run amok of the main area but there is an adults only pool but is small.

The food and service is adequate if a little inconsistent across all the restaurants. Sometimes the food and service was prompt—other times we would have to check on what we ordered or flag down staff. The staff in the pizzeria were shockingly rude like they didn’t want to be bothered. The menus don’t change.

They do a lovely Mexican themed dinner one night and transform the lawn with entertainers and a large buffet. They work all day setting it up and it is a huge production and is very nice.

All rooms have an ocean view. But…the rooms are inconsistent and at times inadequate. We were originally on the 2nd floor near the ongoing construction project so the room smelled of construction and mildew. The room wasn’t well-maintained—obstructed view, visible patchwork on the dry wall, vents and mirrors falling down and a leaky toilet. We didn’t mind at first because we weren’t in the room much but by the 3rd day—the smell and decaying walls were hard to ignore. After complaining twice, they reluctantly moved us to a better appointed room. Definitely ask for a room on a higher floor on the north side of the building prior to check in. Housekeeping is also shotty. Some days the room was made up and others not. Sometimes towels were replenished other times not.

It is a chill and quiet resort but it sits right next to the hotel next door which is not quiet. Club music can be heard throughout the day.

The wait staff, bar tenders, housekeeping, “butlers” and pool attendants were amazing! The lobby staff was not as amazing. They seemed reluctant to do their job outside of anything straightforward like checking people in and out. Nobody was going above and beyond. If you need something—prepare yourself to ask a few times. They were also more responsive to men so keep that in mind when making requests. ;)

I love vacation—I’ve never been so ready to leave a vacation.

The best there can be, excellent service 🙂

Such a beautiful place to take a rest, I will definitely go back next summer 🌞

The place is very peaceful, excellent for relaxing.

Excellent place, without a doubt the best in the area.

Good service in its entirety 100% I only recommend it because it cannot be given more stars

It's a good place I recommend it

Deli deli... The luxury treatment for the third time I have stayed and I will return

Good afternoon, we stayed from Friday, November 24 to Tuesday, November 28. We booked the hotel through Bestday. They offer a 5-star hotel. The photos that appear on the different pages and the official website of the hotel are of a well-kept hotel and nice with an all inclusive plan. The hotel is quite old and there are several areas that already look ugly, such as the elevators, the dirty tablecloths in the main restaurant, the furniture in the rooms, etc. The biggest problem was that the outdoor pool was not heated, it was very cold that no guest could get in, which caused us to have to look for places outside the hotel these days to be able to enjoy our vacation, causing us unconsidered expenses, although it was not reported. They gave it importance and did nothing to solve it either.
