Visited this resort in February for a babymoon with a total of 6 adults.

Day 1 started with the wrong room assignments (paid for king rooms with water views) even though it was all booked through a travel agent, no available reservations for dinner and told to eat at the buffet, no towels by the pool and a room that didn’t lock. Overall it was not a good start to the trip.

Most of the visitors at this time were all 50s and older therefore I do not recommend for anyone in 20s-30s.

The food is only good at the pizza and sails and tails. The buffet food is always cold and the italian restaurant has super small portions. Getting food takes forever no matter where you go because they are so understaffed. You will see the same workers each day working long shifts and they will tell you how they need more people. Drink service is non existent by the main pool and you need to go to the bar which only has one bartender at a time. The bartender has her favorites and expects hefty tips every single time even if you only want some water.

The beaches are nice for people who want calm water and not waves. They have floating circles in water to relax on which is a nice addition.

The sister resort pineapple beach has much better food options if you can get a reservation.

The entertainment at night is super boring and usually just the same solo man singing. They need to incorporate more shows like other inclusive resorts but with the guests at this hotel it seemed like hardly anyone stayed out past a 7pm dinner reservation.

The resort fee is a rip off and would be more justifiable if towels were stocked, drinks were more accessible, rooms cleaned more often, stocked mini fridge, better service for golf carts and overall better attitude by workers.

Ultimately, other all inclusive resorts have much better service, food and drinks. The grounds were beautiful and the pools and beaches were great. This would be a 5 star resort if they got their staff and food/drink service under control.

This is a wonderful place. The resort is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and the food is good. Love the main beach. The rooms are very spacious. The grounds are well maintained. ❤️ this place.

Jewel in the rough. Resort is very beautiful with well maintained grounds. Room fridges are not stocked. Door handle to closet was broken. Safe used lock and key, so one extra thing to carry around. Taps not securely fixed to sink. Hot water ran out quickly. Rooms cleaned every 2 days but we were fine with that. A la cartes were just ok and service not so great there. We cancelled our remaining reservations.Service and coffee was excellent at coffee shop but they need 2 servers during peak morning rush. Surprised that buffet was not open at lunch. Beaches are quite small but the water is calm and amazing at the water sports beach. There is very loud construction going on at adjacent property, though. Still, despite these issues, we enjoyed our stay, but would probably try another locale were we to return to Antigua.

RUN AWAY!!! Do not go here.. I am going to go over why I would never stay here.

First the food is worse than I have ever had in my life and when I said something about it the server told me that was only my opinion and it was fantastic to her..

This is supposed to be an all inclusive, yet the dining times were set and never overlapped so if you were hungry at 11 am you had to wait. They do have a pizza place that was good but you had to wait 30 minutes or more for a pizza. I ordered a drink at dinner and after waiting 35 minutes, I left and went down to the bar and got one for myself, this happened more than once. The coffee shop was a saving grace as it had great coffee if you got in line early enough. Don’t try to get coffee in the buffet if you value your taste buds.

You can make reservations everyday for different restaurants but the funny part is that they never had any reservations available.

The people that worked there couldn’t care less about the people staying there. The manager would repeatedly yell at the staff and you could tell. The staff seemed annoyed with you at all times.

The pool towels were never available and when we asked for some they never brought any, ever although they always said they were bringing them.

Any time we asked for anything they would say, sure but would never do it.

The area was beautiful and well kept and the beach and pools were nice.

Our room looked like it was recently updated but the floor was full of paint, the grout didn’t even meet the floor, the ceiling looked like it was all uneven and going to fall in.

It was supposed to be an adults only place but so many parents brought their kids, the pool was loud with yelling and rough housing and these kids were definitely 10-13 years old and we had a raging teenager next door playing rap at all hours of the night.

The water sports were great, all we could want to do, but if you weren’t there by 3 (closes at 4) they won’t even consider letting you go out on a kayak or any water sport.

We were heading into the resort with all of our luggage, you had to take a golf cart to your room (you could walk but it’s super far) . No golf carts were ever Available. If we were waiting at a golf cart stop they would pass us by or they would say they are coming back and never did or drive by picking up everyone else but us. The manager even drove by with an empty cart and just kept driving.

We read the reviews and thought, yes people said this was a bad place, but we thought maybe they were just upset.

Nope it’s a terrible place. We have traveled all over the world and this by far was so upsetting.

We did rent a car and ventured out, which was amazing the rest of the island is beautiful, but this place is a definitely NO GO!! What a waste of a ton of money.

Had a really nice time at the hotel, and the staff were amazing and so welcoming and friendly, although it seems they are always on shift.

There are some areas for improvement, I.e. the shuttle service and some of the eateries being understaffed which impacted upon service delivery, however nothing major to impact upon the enjoyment of our holiday.

Amazing property and staff very helpful and welcoming , this property is so clean and spacious the views are magnificent

Ideal base camp and resort to spend 10 days

First time to Antigua and Verandah Resort. Was a beautiful week there and for the most part a lovely resort. Some great things were the grounds-so pretty and well taken care of. It’s spread out so prepare to walk. They do have golf carts for a ride but we found it very walkable. Beaches are beautiful and lots of activities to do-kids kayaked, snorkeled, we all swam, very beautiful. We had a day pass for next door to the Pineapple which was nice as well. Bigger beach with beautiful views. Smaller resort with a bit more active vibe but we loved “going home” to Verandah. Staff is friendly and helpful, but they do not have enough. Definitely slower service but we are on island time on vacation. Food was good with a couple a la carte restaurants. One upscale that does have charge if $40…we did not do, a buffet, Sports bar and coffee bar. They have pickleball/tennis courts which were busy (we did not do) but we did enjoyed a game of mini-putt with the kids. Quite fun. You can drink water out of tap so that is also nice not worrying about getting sick. We took taxi into St Johns (front desk calls) and same one picked us up. ($60 round trip). We shopped where the cruise ships docked at Heritage Quay, went to the cathedral, and museum. Then had a beer on the pier bar. Was there a few hours and cool to see. Resort is walking distance to Devil’s Bridge which was very cool along the coast. Went in the am before it got too hot but was worth checking out. A few disappointing things were the mini-fridge in the rooms had nothing in them. Most resorts we have been to would have water, beer, pop, snacks and this resort had not of that. Small thing but makes a difference. Also you needed to grab towels fairly early or you would have to go around and search. Understaffed so waiting for drinks and food was sometimes very long but overall okay and not a huge deal for us. Rooms cleaned only twice through the week, did have to call for shampoo. Entertainment was lacking. If you want a quiet resort this is it…if you want shows and entertainment you definitely won’t find it here. But that was okay for us as we like to get up and on the beach or by pool in am. Last thing was the resort fee (which is Antigua wide I believe). Extra $24 per room per night and $5 per person per night. Be prepared for that.
Overall we loved the resort, we loved the island, we loved the people-most super friendly and easy to communicate as English is the language there. Definitely would go back to the island.

Property: beautiful property, great rooms, great staff. Shoutout to Sean for always being there with a golf cart when we needed it and when we didn’t know we needed it and Craigg as well. Rooms are spacious and clean. It is hilly but it’s generally walkable and does make for a nice night walk. Also ran into the owner Rob who was driving people around on golf carts, he was very personable and really cared about our experience.
Food is generally good . The beach bar has the best food out of all the places here. Forsure get the jerk chicken or ribs, festival and beans and rice they are so good. The pizza restaurant has really great pizza as well. The buffet food is okay. Not bad and not amazing. Breakfast was good with the omelets, fried eggs (o made breakfast sandwiches) etc l. If you’re like me and like chocolate there’s not a lot here aside from the chocolate puffs (croissants) in the cafe.
Drinks are so good. I’ve been. To a lot of resorts across the caribbean and these are the best drinks I’ve had at an all inclusive. Tasty, not sugary, strong.
You can call guest services and book a guest pass to pineapple next door and use all your all inclusive perks there for a day as well. In my opinion their food and drinks aren’t as good but if you want more of a beachy and less covey feel that will give it to you. The bigger beach at verandas is nice too. Just depends what you’re trying to do. Swim in deeper bluer water or wade in more calm sand bank cove type water. Either way both are very nice
WiFi is good during the week but horrible on the weekends. Probably because of the amount of people who are here, but I wish it was faster / worked. The reviews on the beach/ pool towels are true. If people didn’t take 6 towels for 2 people they’d probably have enough but towels do go fast so even if you’re not ready yet I’d recommend stopping by to pick up some towels from the beach/ pool in the morning.
Side note, Shirley heights has a function on Thursday and Sunday people recommend going to. I would give that a 3/5 and would recommend eating at the beach grill before going.

I love this place. It’s paradise! The staff is smiling and friendly. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The view is spectacular. The food is delicious! The beach is calm and the water is warm. The sand is white and the water light blue/ turquoise. At night the tree frogs chirp you to sleep. It’s just day 2 of my vacation and I’m so has happy 😃 to be here.

Orlesea was one of the hostess there and She was wonderful in everyway! Levon the waiter was everywhere we went to eat, just as sweet as can be. Tanya is the sweetest & Best Coffee maker, Phyllis in the jewelry store is an amazing lady, of course I shopped...Everything & Everyone there made us feel at home! This was our 4th trip there, we love it! The food the view, entertainment was perfect! We hope to go back soon! We just got back few days ago! Until next time! Thank you Everyone 😊

This is the second year that I have stayed at the Verandah Resort and spa and I will be back. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, food is great and the accommodations are what an island getaway should be. Would like to make it my vacation destination every year.

Dont expect to get the room you booked. We chose "Waterview King Suite". Didnt get a king bed. Immediately brought to guest services and front desks attention and only got "we got you Waterview but your bedding is based on whats available". Then dont avertise KING SUITE. I would have preferred any room "view" as long as I had a king bed. 4 nights of uncomfortable sleeping arrangements later and we left bothered that we spent that kind of money and they couldn't pull of putting us in a room we booked.

Also front desk will talk to you like you're incompetent and don't bother asking any questions because one particular employee will talk down to you.

OTHER than that, the rest of the staff is phenomenal. All the bartenders and servers were all polite and attentive and made sure you were taken care of.

We visited the Verandah in January with another couple. We had a blast! I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews and I see there are still some people who are underwhelmed but I have to wonder if they went to the same place I visited.
I only gave our room a four out of 5 because there was not enough lights. Only two by the bedside - another lamp or two and it would be perfect. The room was roomy and clean and cleaned every other day on schedule. It had everything we needed including a small fridge and a pitcher we could fill to have cold water on hand.
The service was just fine everywhere we went as was the food. There was one or two meals where service was slow but they seemed understaffed on those occasions. I had to laugh when I read all the negative comments about the dining hall. You really have to go out of your way not to find something you would like to eat. Every morning I had a big bowl of fresh fruit and waffles or eggs. My husband enjoyed the made to order omelet station. The breakfast choices were endless.
We loved going there for dinner. We never had to wait to get seated and the food was, if not exceptional, really good. You could tell they were really making an effort to put out an interesting spread. There was a sushi night with big slabs of tuna and a variety of sushi rolls and a stir fry station. And roasted duck! Taco night was fun and the fresh salad bar was amazing! They have a farm right on the property and the fresh lettuce was great! The cheese station was impressive. You could have bowls full of blue cheese with your salad or an array of other cheeses. Anyway - maybe service was a little slow but are you in a hurry? We always got our drinks at the bar downstairs before heading to dinner and then, other than being served water, you can grab your seats and head up to get any number of interesting food choices. We also ate at a few of the other restaurants which we enjoyed. You DO NOT have to wait in line to get a reservation. There was always a line first thing in the morning but you can call or wait till later and get a reservation for the next day. It was not a problem.
I found 99 percent of the staff to be absolutely lovely.
The grounds were beautiful! The resort in set on something like 30 acres and is really spread out. I loved walking along the paths and admiring the beautiful plantings and birds and listening to the peepers at night.
Another thing I loved about this place were the clean and plentiful bathrooms! Every single one I went to was clean and well stocked.
We went on a snorkeling excursion offered at the resort and it was entertaining and well run. Another day, the resort arranged a car rental for us and it was only $100.
We visited the resort next door - The Pineapple Resort. You can get a day or night pass anytime. We were underwhelmed. We found it to be congested and noisy and not as clean. We had debated between the two resorts and were glad we had selected the Verandah.

A helpful review to future guests is bring drinks or buy drinks on your way. The room is well stocked with glasses but absolutely nothing else.

A review for the property is to offer more self serve food or drink options. The lines are slow but I don't blame the staff who are doing the best they can. To line up for one working bartender serving like a line of 10 for a small pop is not enjoyable. Or to line up behind 4
lattes for a little cup of fruit is not too relaxing 😌.

We enjoyed our time at the Verandah! I was a little concerned based on some of the reviews, but we had an amazing experience! The service was excellent! The food was yummy...didn't have one bad meal! The views were spectacular!!!! We had a Superior Waterfront suite and it definitely had SUPERIOR views!!!!

My wife and I just returned from a week at Veranda. Overall we were very happy with the resort and enjoyed our time. Here are some useful points:
- Food: See separate section below
- Rooms: See separate section below
- Resort: This resort is quite spread out over a large property, where all of the units are connected by small roads like a cozy neighbourhood. This give a wonderful feeling of privacy and "homeyness" to the resort, the only problem being that this is an island which means that there are a LOT of hills. The hills allow for almost every room to have a great view of either the island or the bay/ocean, but means that you're going to be in for a workout to walk between your room and the restaurants. You can call for a "go-cart"/shuttle and they will arrive reasonably quickly to pick you up and take you somewhere, but don't be in a hurry, because of the size of the property the driver will be 2-15 minutes away at peak times. I pulled a muscle snorkelling so my walks were not as fun as they would normally be.
- Pools: there are a number of pools spread around the property. The website hasn't had the pictures updated as of Feb 1, 2024, and they've completed some renovations to improve the pools. The main pool has the same layout but now has a splash/seating area inside the pool with fountains splashing to keep you cool. The umbrellas have also been replaced with covered pergolas surrounding the pool making for very good shade coverage for when you don't want to be in the Caribbean sun. The biggest problem is a combination of greedy patrons taking multiple towels and a shortage of towels in general. We saw multiple people with 3 towels each, which made the shortage even worse. We also noticed people taking a towel to a chair, not use it, and then put it into the dirty towel bin which also aggravates the problems with towels. One useful tidbit: If it's very windy (like our first 4 days) the pool with be COLD! and when it's not windy the pool with be wonderful.
- Staff: This is where we found the most variability of anything on the resort. The staff are either absolutely wonderful, helpful and enjoyable to be around and interact with, or abysmally bad with terrible follow-through. If they could fix this aspect, this resort would be significantly better. We had many staff members that were absolutely great at making suggestions of drinks to have or menu items that were good choices based on what we were looking for. We also had a couple of staff that couldn't answer a simple question like "When does the restaurant open" (an answer of "8 o'clock" was not correct nor helpful at 6pm).

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay for our week's vacation, and we are considering coming back in the future with our sons. Overall the "not so great staff" is the biggest drawback to giving 5 stars for everything at this resort.

Pack your patience if you come to this “resort”. You will be standing in line for almost everything. You have to stand in line to make reservations for your dinner. You will wait 15 minutes to get a drink. They never had the ingredients for their cocktails, so it was rum punch or a tiny beer.
The breakfast buffet - after finally being seated at a table with no silverware or coffee cups - was a huge disappointment. The hot foods were cold and the cold juices and milk were warm. Yes, intestinal distress is certain. We couldn’t get anyone to help us, so we got our own tableware. We were scolded by the staff for helping ourselves. Thank you for making my birthday breakfast so memorable! We gave up on service for breakfast and visited the coffee shop instead. Probably one of the only bright spots for service.
The two beaches were lovely, but be careful with the water sports. My friend was in horrible pain after the liquid in her snorkel mask blinded her for the day. The water sports staff just drops you off at the reef and leaves. She was in distress for 25 minutes before they returned.
Our room had a lovely view, but the chairs on the patio are short and when you sit, the view is blocked by the railing. We wanted to bring a bottle of wine to our room - nope - you only get a small glass of wine at the bar which you must carry back to the room.
This resort is not only understaffed, they are under stocked. They don’t have enough towels, glasses, plates, etc.
They are short on items listed on menus. ! Most of the staff is aloof and unmotivated.
We will not return to this resort - and probably won’t return to Antigua. There are nicer islands and better run resorts in the Caribbean.

After a wonderful honeymoon, we wanted to give compliments to the following individuals:

Leon and Kerry Anne at the Sails and Tails restaurant.

David and Cher at the wicked wavy pub.

The guy at the pizza place who we sadly did not catch his name.

Lassandra at the main pool bar.

Ashal, the receptionist at the buffet and sails and tails.

The main bartender at Rasta beach.

The three men at the lovers beach who took us out in the Hobie Cat and assisted with our kayaking.

Each of these employees went above and beyond during our week at The Verandah. We constantly talked about each and every one of them. Truly made our stay at The Verandah even better and even harder to leave!

With each employee, we had long conversations. Truly made us feel like family here.

Of course, the resort is beautiful, the amenities are wonderful, but what really made our trip were the time spent with David, Leon, Ashal, Kerry Anne, Cher, Lassandra, the pizza, Rast’s bartender and the lovers beach guys!

If you’re planning a stay here, do it! You won’t want to leave as it feels like you’re leaving family. We cannot wait for our next stay.

The moment you get out of the taxi, the resort is breathtaking. The grounds are not just clean, but it’s quiet, beautiful, fun for all different kinds of people and just wonderful. Yes it is hilly, but if you’re not severely obese it’s actually quite pleaaant. If you’re obese/lazy they have a golf cart service for you. Foods great, service is great, drinks are great and the amenities are fantastic.
