The service at this hotel was absolutely awful. It was as if they’ve never hosted guests before when we were this with a group 3/12/24-3/16/24. Food service was terrible at the pool (we waited an average of an hour after ordering lunch for food), room service never showed up the one time we ordered it (and we ordered ahead on the app), and all other aspects of service were highly disappointing. Not to mention, the staff was unapologetic for any of this, and the main pool was also broken the entire time without any acknowledgement. I would highly recommend anyone to NOT stay here, as it’s a terrible value and poorly trained staff.

The wedding we attended was incredible and the reception was amazing. The resort itself is very nice and most of the staff are friendly. However safety of their guests is not a concern for UNICO 20 87! My wife was bitten by a Spider Monkey on Friday, April 12th in the morning . Despite accusations from the staff my wife did not provoke the monkey. My daughter and wife were walking toward the elevator/steps on the 2nd floor until they saw the monkey and started to retreat slowly when the monkey charged them. It jumped on my wife's back and bit her twice the second time breaking skin. The event was traumatic for both my wife and daughter. The first thing Danny (concierge) told me when he arrived with security staff was it costs extra to see the medical team. We did see the doctor eventually and he waived the medical fee. The antibiotics were delivered to us for $160 American dollars/cash. Soon thereafter we received a lecture from Axel Rodriguez/host about not engaging with the wildlife. However nobody followed up to see how my wife was doing and we left on Sunday Morning. We also learned that this monkey bites people on a regular basis, it would have been nice to know that in advance. Would never go back or recommend this resort to anyone despite the wonderful wedding team.

UNICO was fabulous- service was excellent

Absolutely beautiful resort in a lovely setting. Most of all, the service was fantastic! Probably the friendliest staff I have ever encountered.

We stayed at the resort for a destination wedding, and had the best time! LH Aguirre was our concierge, and he took care of everything for us. We had a swim up room and used the gym, spa, rented a Bali bed, hung out by the ocean… it was a dream vacation. Dining, activities, staff, all perfection.

I can’t say enough about how much we enjoy this resort Laura our concierge was top notch she went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect, we will definitely request her on our next visit. It was sad to say goodbye for now to her. All the staff are very accommodating I wish I could remember all the wonderful names of our servers, but our beach butler Maria and server on the beach Louis were a lot of fun and gave us many laughs. The food is the best we’ve had at a all-inclusive 5 star.

We had an exceptional experience at Unico! Laura Flores was our local host and treated us with kindness and incredible attentiveness. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful.
We can’t wait to come back!

Staying there wasn’t a bad experience, but they sold us a future vacation that was very deceptive. You will still pay out of pocket for every adventure, the “resort credits” are as good as useless and are just used as a marketing ploy. The “deals” the owner gives people for staying are just shady marketing ploys. They present a small bit of info and leave out all the fine print. We were shown a brochure on the representatives tablet which seemed like there was only one or two pages, however they wouldn’t scroll down to any of that information. After the down payment we were emailed the exact same brochure which was multiple pages containing all the details about black out dates and extra charges and other activation fees.

I spent a few days here and I would say that it is definitely one of the nicer all inclusive hotels. The food was good just cold when brought to you. I also wanted to mention that our host never came to visit us. It was always that the host was off work and no one came and gave me a tour of the property. I couldn’t do excursions because I had no idea how to book them because of the distance from Cancun later I saw that they had an entire office in which I had no clue existed and I walked in on 3 private events. I would say that the staff was friendly but when I reached out to the front desk on leaving they did nothing about my host never showing. My experience was good but that could have turned it into great especially with the amount of money that I spent to stay here

We just returned from Unico, it was our very first trip to Mexico and we had a wonderful experience!
The resort is small, elegant, authentic and we can’t recommend it enough.
We had a courteous and helpful local host, LH Aguirre. He was responsive to our every need and checked on us every day. It just adds so much to your experience when you can reach out daily with questions, dinner reservations and experience bookings.
We also had an excellent experience with the Pre-arrival concierge Keyla who assisted us with booking two in-hotel experiences.
We attended a chocolate class, a cooking class and mixology class. All three were great with professional and knowledgeable staff.
The food is wonderful and the staff are trained to the highest standards-it was like dining at the best restaurants in Europe. Allergies and food sensitivities are taken very seriously.
The rooms are comfortable and impeccably clean with outstanding housekeeping staff. Our fridge was kept stocked with water, Gatorade, soft drinks and beer. Fresh towels were delivered every day and the sheets would be changed every day if you wished.
There was always lots going on to keep you busy and on the resort. We never had s as my challenges with getting a lounger on the beach or near the pool and the wait staff who served in these areas are impressive. They just never seemed to stop and were always cheerful and polite.
We loved it so much that we hope to return next year.

I came here with my husband just for a getaway, no special occasion and here is my experience:
1. Checkin took HOURS. I just wanted to walk around and be free (after plane + taxi ride). This is where they proposed we listen to their sales pitch the next day and get 75% off spa treatments.
2. We sit in on the 2 hr sales pitch the next day and the whole pitch seemed sketchy and predatory.
3. The spa prices are exorbitant
4. The beach is beautiful, but the water is rocky and has lots of shells/seaweed. Most people stay by the pool.
5. Our butler/concierge was forgetful and not very useful. We gave up on asking them for things.
6. This place is not a party place. The pool parties and club are very boring. I’m sure this would be a lovely place for a honeymoon. Lots of couples just hanging out by themselves.
7. The restaurants were mostly booked up before we got there. The few remaining options were dinner at 5:30 or 9pm.

Overall, beautiful hotel, decent food for all-inclusive, mostly excellent service. The checkin and sales pitch were definitely not how I wanted to start off my vacation, so I’m docking 1.5 stars for that.

Excellent hotel! The food is good. Mr. Silverio, who is in charge of the Palmeras bar, gave us excellent service, always attentive and extremely friendly.
The only inconvenience we had (room 6107) was that they woke us up at 8:30 am to do room cleaning service. We did not request it and both days they woke us up at that time. Likewise, the food at restaurant 2087 is a bit slow. It took us more than 1 hour for our food to be served and we ordered some ice cream another day and it took half an hour.
In general everything very good

The resort is beautiful and the people working at the resort are truly wonderful. The saxophone player that plays Monday afternoon at the pool is fantastic!

My only complaint is the check in process. This needs to be streamlined. After it took us 12 hours to get to the resort from our home they had us sitting in the lobby for over a hour seeing multiple people. This is the process for everyone. One explains the resort, the next one makes
Dinner reservations etc. Our room was not ready but for an additional $50.00 per night we could get an upgrade and not wait for the room we paid for because the official check in was not for another 3 hours.

They also push right from the minute you walk in to have a 90 minute meeting with them while you are on vacation so they can try to sell you on a long term vacation package.
The woman would not give up all week even though we told her we were there to relax and we were not interested. She texted us several times and found us by the pool several days in a row to discuss and push the meeting. Finally my husband had enough and basically said “go away we are on vacation”.

The resort is great, employees are wonderful,
But I would not go back. There are so many wonderful all inclusive resorts out there to go to.
We did not like the long check in process and them trying to sell us something all week long. This is not what I would expect from a 5 star resort. I gave the resort a 4 star for that reason.

We are here now for 5 days and this first day has been terrible.

First, the complementary transportation comes with a catch. You may have to wait another hour for other people to get off planes. After already waiting an hour for our bags, waiting another hour is wild. We were hungry and ready to go. So, we spent $400 for a private car to take us to the hotel.

Secondly, the check-in process was atrocious. When entering, our passports were taken to start the process and we were asked to take a seat. At that point, about 4-5 other groups/couples who came in after us were checked in and had their bags delivered to them. It took ANOTHER hour just for us to get checked in. After asking someone to check for us and let us know what the wait is for, the gentleman said “ok I’ll check,” and never returned lol After we received service and checked in, it took another 20 minutes to get our bags. We literally watched another couple who came in and paid AFTER us get their bags. At that point, we were the only customers left in the lobby. The guy who checked us in had to go tell them to bring our bags out.

Third, there is a property next door. The music is so loud and obnoxious. All you hear is cheering and bass. No… this isn’t a few hours or until 2/3am which is normal for a party. We have been up irritated with the REST of the property and it’s 5am!!! It’s still going!!! We aren’t even in building one which is right next to the private beach having the party. We are on the other side of the property which I’m mildly thankful for.

All-in-all, this is not a relaxing vacation so far and we are actively seeking another place to get some sleep.

UPDATE FOR DAY 2:

Woke up this morning unrested due to the obnoxious party in the neighboring property. It lasted until 7am by the way. When I contacted my local host, he informed me that we wouldn’t be bothered with anymore issues as far as noise goes. We are on the way back so I’ll update you all about it tomorrow and let you know.

Went to Unico 2087 for the breakfast and the only good things were the chilaquiles and omelets. Just get the basics or wait for lunch. Beautiful restaurant but the breakfast was… meh.

Service was a lot better today. Everyone was attentive and super nice. We were quickly serviced at the bars and also room service was great! UNTIL I had a request.

So, I needed change today which I got from the front desk. What’s the problem? Well I asked for some pillows to be sent to the room and guess what I was told…. “Ask your local host. I have a lot of things to do and they can make it a priority…” sir huh?! After I told him I’m already here and it would be GREAT if he submitted the request as expected, he submitted the request. But what?!?! How is this great service? Then, my wife broke her shoe. I just asked if we could get some slippers to the front desk. I was asked, “Can she walk to the room?” Uhm what?!?! You want my wife to walk barefoot through your property? Talked to the concierge and they are saying we can’t get slippers from the room. Who asked for that? Just bring the slippers to the front desk. A simple uncomplicated request. But no, we have been asked to request it on arrival and wait for house keeping. What sense does that make when you ALREADY KNOW MY REQUEST?? JUST BRING THE SLIPPERS TO THE FRONT DRSK SO THEY WILL BE READY ON ARRIVAL!!! This has proven for the SECOND day to not be a 5 star resort. It is absolutely a 3 star resort with 5 star prices.

Overall this resort is very nice and the food and drinks are good. All the staff are also very nice! There are also tons of activities in the pool area. If I could give it an exact rating, I would rate this 4.7 stars due to a the following reasons such as:

1. No espresso drinks in the pool area. Just black coffee which required us to walk back up to the cafe in the front everytime.
2. We stayed in the ocean front Alcoba room but they only had the 2nd floor available with a king size bed. The palm trees and foliage prevented us from being able to see the ocean so it was a waste to upgrade to this room. Therefore, my recommendation would be to only book this room if you’re guaranteed at least the third floor.
3. There is a wedding venue of some sort right next to this resort which was blasting music with a ton of bass the whole night until 8 am. I always bring ear plugs and turn on white noise on my phone at resorts because I’m a light sleeper so I was fine but others in our group were woken up every hour.

We came here for our anniversary and enjoyed it very much. Alberto was our concierge and was so helpful! I needed ice packs for travel and he arranged for that to happen. We had a Ocean view room that we loved, it was clean and beautiful. The bathroom was spacious and had a modern design. The view was breathtaking and we enjoyed breakfast out on the balcony a couple times. Staff was great, check in and check out was a breeze. We were welcomed at check in with a warm towel and a fresh drink. Great adult resort. The cons, unfortunately one of the pools were closed due to maintenance. They tell you at check in to go and reserve a chair at the pool early and this creates a problem at the pool. We also sat through a presentation that was very aggressive toward the end, but you can easily just say No to that, but we got a free massage for enduring lol. Overall beautiful resort with great service.

Had a wonderful time with absolutely beautiful weather! We were blessed to be attended by Ricardo Renteria at Pool 20.87 every day - he was outstanding! He supplied us with towels, drinks, and iced water in a quick, efficient and extremely friendly manner. He recommended a new drink for us, The Lengendary”; became my new favorite! Make sure you find a pool lounger in his section when you visit!

Beautiful location! Beach is clean and lovely. Multiple restaurants & pools to choose from
