We only stayed 2 nights and we had a bad time, the sheets had a stale smell, then we had to change rooms because it leaked everywhere, in the other room one of the beds had a urine stink. The pool is good and the beach too. The buffet was very limited, no flour, no milk, no ice cream, little variety of protein. Recreation also very poor. I really don't recommend it at all, it's a scam.

So, we’ve been all over, but our stay at Gran Caribe Tortuga in Varadero? Yikes. Thought we’d get some beach time in, but instead, we came back to our room to find our stuff messed with. Seriously, our hidden cash and some jewelry? Gone. And get this – we weren't the only ones. A bunch of families had the same bad luck that day. Lost money, jewelry, some even lost important papers. If you're looking at this place for your trip, maybe double-check those room locks or think about another spot. Totally bummed out about how this turned out.

Ours were robbed

We have visited many parts of the world, but a stay at Gran Caribe Tortuga in Varadero will leave the most unpleasant impressions in our memories. While we were relaxing on the beach, thieves broke into our room and stole our valuables. Everything was carefully hidden, so I'm sure it was an inside job. And this is not only our case: on the same day, five more families spoke about similar thefts. If you are going to stay at this hotel, be careful. This incident ruined our entire vacation.

We got ROBBED. Be aware!

I've traveled to over 25 countries and never had a problem until I stayed at Gran Caribe Tortuga in Varadero. While we were at the beach, someone went into our room and took our money and jewelry. We had hidden these things really well, so it feels like hotel workers might have done it. The scary part? We weren't the only ones. Five other families had stuff taken the same day, like cash, jewelry, and important papers. If you're thinking of staying here, be careful. It made our vacation really stressful.

It can never get any worse. The same menu three times a day. Non-alcoholic drinks are rarely available. It's just conveniently located. A short walk to the beach, a large on-site pool and a well-kept outdoor area provide some consolation for the disappointment. It's just a communist third world country. It's a shame actually. The people are mostly very hospitable and the island is the most beautiful in the Caribbean.

I went with my sisters on vacation, for us it was a very quiet and beautiful stay, it is a cozy place, with attentive professional workers, with good entertainment for everyone, day and night, meals and room according to the price, thank you very much to all and special to Yanitsa, Mrs. who remained attentive all the time. Thank you all

The worst theft ever. Beach towels, hotel towels were stolen from us on the protected beach of the hotel. As a result, we were also accused of not keeping track of the things of the hotel. They took the money. Security on the beach is engaged only in the fact that they charge money from the locals for the use of sun loungers. Nothing else is being monitored. In the dining room, because a place that is called a restaurant to call so the hand does not rise, cockroaches crawl and a bunch of flies fly. Flies are everywhere in salads, on tables... it doesn't bother the locals. The service is terrible, upon check-in they offered a room without a single light bulb ... they swore for about an hour, as a result, another room appeared, which was not originally there. The surprise of the second number is that not a single adapter fits the sockets. It was good to have a power bank with me. Of the positive, only the ocean, but it does not belong to the hotel ....

Great staff, nice, friendly people. Beautiful beach.

Unpleasant experience with housemates who went on weekend stays - they left a mess by the pool, in the dining room. Their compatriots, working in the hotel, were ashamed of them.

Not enough food.
Dirty and scarce towels and sheets.
Covered, plates, missing glasses to eat and drink in the buffet, bars and cafeterias.
No hot water, they took it away due to constant leaks in the bathrooms of the pool and the lobby (apart from being dirty and stinky).
Bad treatment of the staff in any area, towards the guests.
In short: Better to close it or recover it with all the conditions it carries. Because very expensive that the reservation costs.

I spent over a week there, it was awesome. Good catering service, exceptional courtesy of the staff. The rooms are well ventilated.

The attention and the bathrooms leave much to be desired, the food is poorly prepared, they lack liquids at meals and it is advisable to have a glass on hand to be able to acquire the few services it has. Desserts are scarce and in poor condition, breakfast is the only meal that has some quality.

Horrible I gave it to my family for Father's Day the horrible attention the food only fish enchilado and some ripped meats and with restincion so it is not a buffet table tremendous bad smell and a lot of churre so they give you more food you have to have happy to the workers giving them money I do not recommend it to anyone it is disrespectful

The attention is not good, the bathrooms in the lobby are disgusting because of how dirty they are, the food is poorly prepared, there are no liquids to accompany the food and you have to walk everywhere with a glass because there never is. Desserts are scarce and the few that there are are bad, the only meal of the day that is moderately worth it is breakfast

There is a lot of gastronomic shortage, the beach is good, the pool is also the room with a broken switch. Many mosquitoes to the point of being able to be in the cafeteria for more than 5min. I don't think I will return to this hotel.

The only positive: the hotel is located on a gorgeous sandy beach. The sea is the most beautiful thing I've seen so far, although I travel a lot (Mexico, Zanzibar and many more). Beautiful.

Unfortunately, the hotel and the complex are a disaster! We knew what we were getting into and that we had to lower our standards BUT we weren't aware that it was going to be so terrible.
The value for money is not right at all.

We booked all inclusive and there was literally nothing. We always went out to eat because only there was the food enjoyable and available.

The facility is in dire need of renovation and dangerous. Most residential units are cordoned off because they are in danger of collapsing and are under construction. The rooms are old and dirty, it stinks, there was no electricity (there are always power cuts anyway).

The food is not edible. There was always bad rice, even this was prepared with meat. If there was meat, it wasn't edible. Bristles on the flesh, eliminating the need for dental floss. Drinks were constantly running out, there were simply no glasses or mugs, other guests recommended us to buy a plastic mug in a souvenir shop. Milk is withheld from the guests and taken away under the hands of employees themselves. We have seen packages being taken away several times. There is cheese and butter, but you also eat it yourself and don't even provide it. Only when you get loud at breakfast and ask for the cheese is the tray reluctantly placed outside the guest area. Employees are generally very unmotivated and unfriendly. To Spanish speaking guests, you could tell the difference. Here they were much friendlier. We also noticed that on our excursions. We booked very nice excursions almost every day, where the food was so sparse but much better. We were greeted at check-in by dissatisfied guests. Nothing worked in this hotel. We constantly had to pay for the internet, which then never worked AND best of all, they tried to rip us off and pay for water several times. We then complained to the manager, who was obviously embarrassed, she apologized and made an announcement to the waiter. The situation in Cuba, although such a beautiful country, is unfortunately not very exciting BUT in this hotel it is much worse. Other comparable hotels managed it. The funniest thing was that there was an officially announced inspection one day and many bosses from the hotel chain were there. On this day everything suddenly happened!!! Even toilet paper, milk and cheese. Not again the next day.

I made a reservation (HT-1316045, HT-1318087) for Villa Tortuga, in fact we rented 3 rooms because it is a large family, the experience has been a disappointment, we fully understand that the situation in the country is widespread, but if you do the effort to pay for a rather expensive service because it was more than 100,000 Cuban pesos, at least it is to receive a good service, the rooms are in poor condition, the towels are useless, dirty and even with holes, my TV cannot be seen, the light from The room does not turn on, the bedspreads and sheets are dirty, if we go into the subject of food, nothing is useful, the salads taste like chopped, the salty fish and also they serve you with a bad face, there is no rice, I travel with two girls, one two years old and another of 4, I had to rent a car and go to Varadero to find something to feed them because the quality of the things is so bad that I couldn't feed them, honestly the worst of my experiences in my various trips to Varadero, the but of the facilities the worst of the services, in. In general, I feel totally cheated, I don't know what I really pay for. In my humble opinion they should close the facility, I just hope that it can be corrected and for future clients they do not live my bitter experience

Never again
I'm about to go to another hotel
Wanted to drink beer at the bar didn't have any mugs, but since they are quite inventive, a plastic bottle that was cut in the middle will do as well 😜 Water was cold after the complaint there was warm water
I can't describe breakfast because I don't want to use such words
In the evening there was always a flashlight, no light in the stairwell, only 1 lamp in the room worked
Rooms are clean

I am amazed at the bad reviews of the hotel😟.
We stayed for a few days in March, a cheap, well-kept, comfortable hotel with all the services, an acceptable buffet, we must take into account the scarcity of the country, and little supply.
Clean, safe, and with a beach that was like being in heaven, for our part we totally recommend it, we were delighted!! ❤️❤️

This is not a ( PET FRIENDLY HOTEL ) , they have just murdered a colony of cats that were even sterilized by the animal community. They poisoned them 😪 hypocrites😡😡😡

In this "pet friendly" hotel, the management and directors allowed for the killing and poisoning of a whole cat colony, already neutered cats tha were treated with the effort of the community
