A review of the Riu Palace St Martin

6 reasons to love the Riu Palace St Martin

A look at the Riu Palace

A look at the Riu Palace

Having just spent 7 glorious days in St Martin, I have a new found love – the Riu Palace St Martin.

I was excited to explore this captivating island for the first time, shared equally by the Dutch and the French for close to 350 years.

I was not sure what to expect of this small all-inclusive resort with 258 rooms, located on the French side. But I was impressed!

Here are the top 6 things that stood out to me:

1.The Beach! What a stunning beach, with a quiet cove and calm waters. The resort offers a wide variety of water activities, such as kayaking, boarding and snorkeling at no charge. And for adventure seekers, wave runners and fly boarding is available at a cost.

2. The selection of food was so varied, with a buffet and 3 a la carte options. I loved the seafood, especially the mussels, and all was perfectly paired with a variety of wines.

3. The rooms were luxurious, and beds co comfy, and extremely clean, complete with a  bar, furnished balcony or terrace, plus oversized bathrooms

4. The staff was extremely friendly, starting with the manager Mr Fancisco Benito, to the on-site wedding planner Tanya, to the front desk staff, wait staff and housekeepers. We were always greeted by a smile and a willing hand.

The pool is a must-see

5. There is a general feeling of relaxation here in part due to the design of the buildings. Being low rise with only 3 floors, the Riu Palace has a colonial feel, complete with white shutters. The resort is sprawling and surrounded with lush vegetation and glorious flowers. I felt I was truly on a tranquil vacation

6. During the day the pool is fabulous for a swim and pool aerobics. At night, the infinity pool is the best place to watch the stunning sunsets.

LGBT Weddings in Mexico

Same Sex/LGBT Destination Weddings

by Susan Gill

Destination weddings are now becoming a reality for everyone, no matter your gender or sexual orientation. As of 2010, the Mexican government has legalized same sex weddings, opening the doors to resorts that embrace all love.

It is important to work with a resort and a team of on site wedding specialists, who understand, embrace and nurture your ideas, sentiments, and wedding decor. Whether what you desire is an all-inclusive resort that is adult only or family friendly, I can pair you with the location of your dreams. Your desire can be a resort that is small and intimate or one that is lively and energy charged.

Destination Weddings

6 Reasons to book with Weddings by Escapes

by Susan Gill

Having a wedding at home can be extremely costly. Now more than ever, couples are considering their options. How is it possible to have the wedding of your dreams, with your family and close friends and still afford it? Well, we have the answer.
Statistics have shown that destination weddings at an all-inclusive resort can cost 40% to 60% less. Due to this, destination weddings have been on a steady incline since 2010. Plus, your guests get to enjoy a relaxing beachfront vacation while celebrating your wedding!

Here are the top 6 reasons why working with our planners will save you money:

1.Knowledgeable Wedding Planners at Escapes

All our wedding planners travel extensively and are extremely familiar with destinations, resorts and excursion choices. How does this translate to savings for you? We can suggest the perfect destination and resort that suits your particular needs and budget, and which tick offs every box of your wish list.

2. Perks for the Couple and Group

Who wouldn’t enjoy some added benefits while booking travel? Successful wedding planning is based on great working relationships with travel partners. It is because of this we can offer things like upgraded seats on certain airlines, or free tequila tasting parties at the resort. We can even snag deals such as a guaranteed room upgrade for the bride and groom or a price reduction on excursions.

3. The Required Dress Code

A gown and suit for the wedding couple can be a huge investment. But on a white sandy beach, with the sun, palm trees and blue water as your backdrop, a casual gown and simple pants and shirts are all that is needed! Guests can wear shorts and dig their toes in the sand. Perfect!

4. The Honeymoon

If you are interested in a destination honeymoon, our planners can suggest a resort for you. Popular choices include adult-only getaways, with state of the art spas, romantic beachfront dinners and ocean front rooms. If you are already in a fabulous destination to celebrate your wedding, why not save money by adding a few days to another resort? We can arrange it all!

This ensures all your guests (whether you are a group of 20 or 200) arrive to the resort seamlessly. Relax while we send you resort options, prices and excursions for your choosing. We can confirm all travel and are always here to answer any questions.
