We stayed in the Turtle Cottage which was a spacious 4 Bedroom Villa with pool and beach access. There were a total of 5 adults and 4 teenagers in our group. Awesome views of the ocean from all the rooms and poolside. Massive patio where we could relax and watch the Pelicans feed all day.We did a variety of activities including golf, fishing, yoga and daily use of the gym. The golf course (10 minutes from resort) was in bad shape due to lack of proper watering. 8 Holes were closed, big bottle necks throughout, not much of a pro shop and was way overpriced (we paid about $150 pp). Fishing (5 minutes from resort) was great minus the only rain we saw during our whole trip. We caught a bunch of Wahoo, Baracuda, King Fish and Tuna. We brought the Tuna back and the chef was kind enough to filet and marinate it for our grill on the patio. Yoga was only scheduled for two days during the week but you could schedule private sessions for a fee...nice yoga platform with views of ocean and an old sugar mill. Gym was nice, decent size with plenty of equipment.Food at the Palm was average, the Cove was much better, short ride to Les Bistro was well worth it and 45 minute drive for lunch/drinks/beach/jet skiing at Sheer Rocks was a home run! We did have a private dinner on our patio one night which was pricey but well worth the experience. The senior staff was very attentive to all our needs. The island attitude is extremely laid back and we witnessed and heard about staff with a "work to get by" attitude. We went with the flow and made some new friends. Rooms were cleaned regularly and on time...not a grain of sand was left anywhere in the rooms by the time they were finished cleaning. The property is perfect size and has a great location on the water and near the airport. The water is the bluest we have ever seen and we had fun snorkeling, sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Ample pools and bars around the property with a few spots to grab a casual lunch. We were off to the side and did not feel crowded on the beach. We left wishing we had more time there and everyone agreed we would go back. True Caribbean paradise with plenty to do and see or just chill-lax on the beach or poolside. Recommend bringing binoculars and under water camera for the snorkeling. Also brought my fly rod and had fun fishing along the beach in front of Turtle Cottage. HAd the food been better we would have given it 5 stars.
We enjoyed our stay at Blue Waters. Had a second floor b achfront room whichHich was perfect. We could stay on our balcony and enjoy the beach and ocean views at the same time. Something that is not mentioned on their website is that breakfast and lunch and a few dinners are buffet when eating at the main restaurant the palms. The other two sit down evening restaurants are not open every night. Although we were disappointed in so many buffets the selection and quality was good. The cove restaurant was very nice. You cannot beat the views throughout the resort. Had various spa services which were good. The resort and rooms themselves need a little repair. The staff were the best you will find anywhere. Would consider going back but may look at other options in Antigua. Antigua for sure will be our main go to place. It's worth it even coming from the west coast of Canada.
I can honestly say that this was one of our best holidays ever (although in fairness also the most expensive!). The warm welcome on arrival (just 15 minutes by taxi from the airport) and the hot towels and welcome drinks simply set the tone for our whole stay. All the staff we met went out of their way to make us feel most welcome. We stayed 14 nights (returning on 14 February) in a beach front deluxe. Room was refurbished recently and included bath and separate walk in shower and excellent air conditioning along with Elemis products. We had asked for a quiet room and got that in block 100. We enjoyed sparkling wine on arrival, a birthday cake and a champagne breakfast during our stay as we were celebrating a special birthday and also a ruby wedding anniversary. We dined at all 3 restaurants. Booking is recommended 48 hours in advance. The Cove setting is special although in fairness we felt that the food everywhere was very good though perhaps not fine dining as some might imagine. We took a taxi for 3.5 hours one morning and visited Betty's Hope, Shirley Heights and Nelson's Dockyard....all good. Weather during our stay was consistently about 28 with the odd short shower. We talked to many guests often return visitors and even made some new friends (R and S). Blue Waters is a quiet hotel with most guests being over 50. Do go there if you want peace and quiet and relaxation (perhaps avoid English school holidays). There is usually a band in the evening (enjoy a drink at the Pelican bar) and sometimes a steel band at the weekend at lunchtime. There are 3 separate pools (one adult only) as well as the beach areas. Villas also have their own private pools. We were able to get sun beds although it isn't clear if they should or shouldn't be reserved! We were on an all inclusive package which worked for us and meant the mini bar in our room was restocked to order. Carolyn's bar was great fun and offered a light lunch although you could also go to the main restaurant too. Sometimes they had bbqs. That also offered a wide choice for breakfast including eggs cooked to order. The gardens are very well kept and we enjoyed a garden tour one morning. Yoga sessions were also available on 2 mornings each week as well as an early morning walk on some mornings. Thanks to Alastair (General Manager) and all his staff who are a real credit. I have avoided naming those whom we get on with best as that would be unfair and in any event we thanked them before we left. This was our first visit to Blue Waters and we hope to return in 2018! Anything I'd change? Add a rest room nearer the beach and consider changing the menus at Bartley's and the Cove more often although the Cove offered "specials" which changed regularly.
Blue Waters is a little piece of Paradise! We had gone wanting complete rest and relaxation and were not disappointed! Being privately owned and not too big, the hotel had a very personal feel and we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff were so friendly and cheerful and knew us by name everywhere we went within 24hours!!We had upgraded to a delux beachfront room and were not disappointed. We had a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us in a lovely room with a private balcony plus a stunning view over the bay. The bathroom had both a shower and bath. The 3 restaurants were all great, serving very varied menus. Our favourite was The Cove for its beautiful outdoor setting and delicious lobster! Breakfast was also a feast with anything you could possibly wish for including champagne! The all inclusive option is a must. We ate and drank whatever we liked and that included the minibar ( which was restocked daily) and paid no extras. Carolyn's beach bar deserves a special menu for it's fun atmosphere, delicious eats and a great selection of cocktails - which they would happily deliver to the beach! Open from 11am - sunset, it was the perfect place to chill out. Carolyn, Winsia and Anya were the perfect hostesses!!A week just wasn't long enough!! We will definitely return!
Hard to believe this was our 10th visit to Blue Waters; it continues to be our favourite escape from miserable February in the UK! The beach-front rooms are lovely, and refurnishing continues. One or two niggles (inability to control each bedside light separately and from a switch reachable lying down, nowhere in our room to hang bathrobes other than in the wardrobe!) are hugely off-set by the wonderful friendliness, affection even, of the staff who really take care of you. Gardens beautiful as ever and food excellent. The new pool-side food bar at Carolyn's is excellent although awkward to reach for people with limited mobility.Have already booked for next year!
