A luxurious and relaxing family holiday is not impossible

Blue Waters is a beautiful hotel and one that certainly we were dubious about booking for our first long haul holiday with two toddlers. Blue waters made this first voyage into new toddler territories a very easy experience with the West Indian laid back attitude a welcome relief. The hotels decor and style is beautiful and a lot of care, attention and budget has clearly been invested. The bar areas are chic and you feel as though you are in a very special place the minute you arrive (I even tried to find out the artist of the paintings in the Bartley’s restaurant as they were stunning). We opted for a two bedroom (well lounge and bedroom) luxury suite which was worth every penny as the space meant a good nights sleep was had by all. We stayed on an all inclusive basis which again was worth every penny as we ate and drank like kings in the week we stayed. The food was fabulous and what is so special about this hotel is that in every restaurant not only is the menu different but the decor too which makes you feel as though you are in a different place without ever having to leave the hotel. The cove was a wonderful classy restaurant and Bartleys perfect for an air conditioned bistro supper. The pools were all stunning and it was wonderful for us knowing there was an adult pool that people could use if they didn’t want to be disturbed by the children, hugely reducing the stress of having to keep children quiet. The staff were mostly brilliant with particular love on our side for Colene and Garry who our children adored (as did we) and the Children’s club staff who made a couple of hours to ourselves blissful. As with every hotel not everything is perfect here, the restaurant at Carolyn’s was a bit of a joke, trying to even get the attention of the (food) staff to get something to eat was tricky and don’t even bother asking Shemeke for anything, she’s doing you a favour even by being there (note the bar staff were fab especially Mitchell and Sowandy). The setting is stunning for a light lunch by the pool but it definitely feels as though the same service and management that is evident in the Palm, Cove and Bentleys is not instilled down by the pool. We had a couple of cockroach issues but to be fair the management responded very well and it is not a cleanliness issue that attracted them as much as a blocked drain in our shower, which again the hotel sorted. The final area for improvement was the introduction to the hotel. While it was super friendly and included a punchy rum punch it took us days to orient ourselves and to understand what restaurants were open when, what we could get through the all inclusive etc etc, by the time we left we had it nailed but it would have been nicer at the beginning to get a more detailed introduction. These are all very small niggles for a place that oozes luxury, has wonderful food and a staff that in general will go out of their way for you. We used the hotel for excursions, snorkelling trips, fishing trips, the crèche and the babysitting facilities which enabled us to really relax, the kids the have a blast and for us to experience the luxury we had missed. Blue waters we will miss you and hope to be back

Keeps getting better and better!!

I first visited BW in January this year and was really impressed on my recent visit in October. The changes and improvements to the lobby and restaurant are awesome!! The service is always great here and the management and owners of the hotel are progressive and always striving to elevate the guest experience! I would highly recommend BW to anyone visiting Antigua. I think you’d be hard pushed to beat this place for a truly wonderful break in Paradise!!

Lovely stay

Stayed at blue waters at the end of July beginning of August. We stayed here purely for My best friends wedding, but very glad we did!! We were upgraded to a beach view room which we were very grateful for and the Bride and groom to be were upgraded to a cove suit, which was lovely and they were extremely happy about! The room was lovely and the mini bar always a stick with what we liked as we had stayed all inclusive. The food was lovely, the palm Always a lovely selection and Colleen was great remembering us by name with a day! The other restaurants were great, Bartley's and are favourite the cove. Carolyn was a joy at Carolyn bar also! The wedding was fantastic! Food was amazing and the steel band! Only down side was some confusing in the spa when getting ready but nothing to ruin the day and sometimes some of the staff were slightly rude at times but didn't let it bother us too much. All in all Blue Waters was a lovely hotel and we had a great experience!

Fabulous, friendly resort - Cove Suites wonderful

Stayed here for a week in the Cove Suites during June. The facilities are fabulous, and pretty much every member of staff we spoke to was friendly, polite and helpful. The Cove Suites are particularly worth paying the extra for if you're used to the luxury all inclusive experience. The shared pool with the other Suites in each block are private, yet provide a place to meet others staying in the same block. This worked out very well for us as we met some lovely people who we've subsequently kept in touch with. The bed was firm yet very comfortable (and huge), and the suite a good size overall. Suites are also equipped with a personal mobile phone so you can call on staff at any time - although we never found a situation that warranted using it!The main problem we had with the Suites was the resort management put a family with very young children in the same block who everyone else in the block could hear from very early in the morning. Not a criticism of the family, rather something for management to think about when allocating rooms - perhaps put families together? There were other families with children staying in other suite blocks, and putting families together may provide benefit for those families too. It's not quite the best place we've ever been to (we've been privileged to stay in some rather exceptional places on previous travels), but it's certainly in the top 10. Angela (our poolside bar tender) deserves a special mention as was unbelievably good at making her special "Bob Marley" cocktail, for 8 of us... It's a work of art, and very tasty too :)

Best ever resort in the Caribbean

Our second visit to Antigua - we first travelled here 13 years ago - was a little like easing back into a welcoming, comfortable armchair. It certainly didn’t take us long to melt into the ‘Caribbean vibe’ at the magnificent Blue Waters Resort. What a find! The instant we arrived we were made to feel at home, which for us was an apartment in the Cove Villa Suites. We had requested a peaceful, quiet room with a sea view, preferably first floor, and this is exactly what we got. With a large pool dedicated to our villa (seven apartments) and drinks on tap poolside thanks to the fabulous and attentive staff, we were completely spoilt, enabling us to concentrate on the serious business of rest and relaxation: most of the time we had the pool to ourselves (lucky us!) The concierge service available to the Cove Suites was an innovative touch, catering for our every whim. Dining was far superior to our past experiences in the Caribbean. Although we are reluctant to comment on meals as food is subjective, we would highly recommend the connoisseur selection at The Cove restaurant (our personal favourite) which incurs a minimal extra charge if dining all-inclusive. The ‘all inclusive’ option for the drinks worked well for us with house wines to our absolute taste. The Palm restaurant was superb for breakfast and evening, with ‘themed’ and a la carte dining available. The resort is set in the most beautiful of surroundings - the gardens and grounds spectacular with many specimen trees; the diamond in Blue Waters’ multi-jewelled crown. We did not take advantage of the ‘adults only’ pool but applaud the management for recognising the need for this facility – we noted others did take advantage! The icing on the cake for us would be to dine in an adult only environment within The Cove restaurant, perhaps after 8.00 p.m. for a truly romantic and memorable experience. We rate this holiday 98.5% only because of the pesky mosquitoes: they got us despite the resorts best endeavours to fog the gardens and rooms (on request).A huge ‘thank you’ to Alistair and his fantastic team – they truly are an asset. See you next year because we’ll definitely be back!
