Our family of 10 adults and I child stayed at the Rock Cottages complex. It was unbelievably good. OK, its not cheap (it is the owners own personal facility), but it offered privacy, space and luxury in the environment of a top Caribbean resort. The 5 room complex is gated within the resort with its own security guard. It has two pools and five good sized suites. It also has its own private cocktail bar which the team opened up for us on a couple of evenings -especially the evening that the catering team gave us our own barbeque event in our own complex. "Rock Star" treatment! We chose "all-inclusive". The food was of a good standard (as experienced Caribbean visitors we have a good benchmark) -in fact it was the best we have experienced. The service throughout the stay was friendly and helpful. We've come to expect this in this kind of Caribbean resort and it did not disappoint. Senior management were particularly helpful -we made a couple of specific requests which they met very willingly. The younger generation of the family fell in love with the bar during the day -swapping cocktail recipes with the team and making lots of friends. The resort team were experimenting with using in-resort WhatsApp messaging to facilitate the concierge service. A really good idea, which they are just getting to grips with.Overall our multi-generational family group had a fantastic vacation. They are already plotting to do it again in the next year or so. The Rock Cottage complex at Blue Waters is a different type of experience. If you have a party size that can make it work -lucky you, it is something special
So, the setting is beautiful, the sun is shining but we had a few minor complaints in the first few days. Slow service in the restaurants (with 2 boys aged 9 & 11 uplater than usual it matters), tennis sessions cancelled and no table tennis table as advertised. However, things go wrong and it’s how you respond. Since we aired our frustrations they have been amazing - warm welcome and swift service wherever we’ve been, tennis sessions reinstated and they bought a new table tennis table and installed it within 48 hours. Wonderful and genuine response. Thank you, with special mentions for Jasper, Derek and Karen.
My wife, 2 daughters and I had an excellent 10 days here. A great location, about 20 mins taxi from the airport, on a small private beach, with a selection of 3 restaurants and a number of swimming pools. Comfortable rooms overlooking the sea. We booked on an all-inclusive basis, so took full advantage of the good quality food on offer at all meals, as well as numerous cocktails ! Played tennis most evenings (though court and lighting both need improvement). All staff we came across in the restaurants, bars and room service were extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent quality entertainment was provided most evenings. The New Year's buffet and entertainment were especially good. We all enjoyed ourselves .......and would happily have stayed for much longer......
Just back from our eleventh February escape to lovely Blue Waters. They had a lucky escape from Hurricane Irma and the grounds and buildings continue to look beautiful. As a disabled person, I was pleased to get room 405 - a beachfront room very convenient both for the Palm restaurant and the rather treacherous steps down to the beach pool and Carolyn’s bar. The hand rail needs to be alongside the stairs, not the hideous slope – so should be on the left-hand side going down. This pool used to be our favourite spot but too big an area is now taken up with too many tables and chairs (many unoccupied on both days we used the bar for a delicious light lunch) leaving no space for sun-loungers. Does anyone really use the bar stools along from the bar? In previous reviews also, I’ve pointed out the need for a handrail at the steps into the shallow end – I know I’m not the only person who has difficulties getting in and out so that pool is now underused – but nothing has been done about it. And talking of access, it’s high time a lift was installed to get diners down to the Cove restaurant. I should also mention the need for grab rails in the showers – the floor tiles are of course slippery when wet and there’s nothing to hold onto if you need support or help with balance.A little disappointed with the menus for dinner in Palm – they look exactly the same as they did a year ago, and also cycle round once a week. Every Thursday is the same. Desserts are often rather disappointing. More variety is needed: a bigger choice of dishes each day, or else a longer cycle. All that aside, the rooms are large and elegant. Some of them have bonkers wardrobes with no full-length doors, but there’s still plenty of space. The beds are huge and very comfortable. Anything you want in addition – for instance as we did this time (an easy chair with arms) or previously (an extra table lamp) – just ask. They will do their very best to help.We will definitely return next year. It’s always such a pleasure to be welcomed back, greeted by name every day, and for one’s needs and likely orders to be anticipated. The long-standing staff are almost like family now and are a real credit to Blue Waters; it’s they who make the biggest difference and ensure the many returning guests we recognise and chat to each time.
