Very nice luxury hotel but.....

The hotel is very clean and nice specially beds and sheets. This is not at hotel for kids that is for sure. The swiming pool is amazing the rooms are very close to the beach. But it is so sad to see outside of the hotel the poverty that people in Antigua have to face everyday. They don't have water in their homes and the roads are a disaster ant the total population in the country is only 90,000 people. The government of the country should be ashamed how they make look their people to the whole world. In the capital and everywhere is very very expensive to buy anything crazy expensive. And some locals are very rude outside the hotel. The hotel staff very friendly with some exceptions.the lady's at the indigo restaurant look very tired and not happy at all. The rest of the staff at the hotel very amazing. Very nice and friendly.

Beautiful calm water

We visited carlisle bay during a cruise stop. After an incredible snorkeling experience (snorkel wid Neville) we rented beach umbrella and chairs at in front of Rogers dive shop. We were the only ones here except for 2 super nice local kids. The boatyard was just a short distance away and another site one the other side of us just a very short distance away. Both of these places had 3 rows of chairs and umbrellas. We loved our spot on carlisle bay away from the crowds. The water was dead calm and absolutely beautiful. Nice relaxing place to visit. Umbrella was 5$ and chairs were 5$each. Everyone we met were the nicest people of any island we visited.

Great hotel great location

Lovely hotel in a great location. Old school luxury with attentive stuff but not in your face. The beach is right on the doorstep and the option of a number of restaurants made for a relaxed stay. Would definitely go back

Nice resort but lacking a few key things...

We recently stayed 4 nights at Carlisle Bay during Spring Break. Upon checking in, the staff was super friendly and helpful and very accommodating. And I'm not sure who arranges for the "EZ pass" through customs but boy is that awesome to skip the line when you land! Our beachfront room was spacious and clean, the bed is very comfortable but the beautiful view is blocked by massive palm trees. The bathroom is pretty drab and the fluorescent lighting with ugly grey counters is disappointing...lots of amenities on the counter but could have used a hair dryer instead of the courtesy nail file. The free bottled water and sodas In the fridge was a nice perk. The strange thing about the hotel is that it's empty even during peak season. We enjoy peace and quiet but it was oddly quiet. The beautiful bar near the pool has just a few chairs around back and not always most resorts this would be a great place to grab a bite, a cold drink and get out of the sun. Pipe in some music into the restaurant/bar areas too! Camion is super helpful and friendly when you need a beach chair, towels and food but drink service is slow to which is not his fault. I watched one bartender put our frozen drinks back on the blender no less than 5 times to mix. And mix some more. Then someone else took the blender to mix again and again. Ironically my daughter's virgin colada was watery and not even frozen. Simple glasses of wine took longer than necessary. Also, for as much staff as there were working, an outdoor seating area had leftover glasses and plates left untouched, twice even overnight. Otherwise the grounds are nice and clean and well maintained. There are many tennis courts with free racquets and balls which is convenient but mostly unused. The kids club was well staffed with eager workers and the Easter Egg Hunt was a hoot - but the club itself is really small and lacked things for older kids such as a ping pong table, pool table or foos ball. The free use of kayaks and paddle boards are nice but a go-to place for tweens would be helpful during crummy beach weather. The staff at the gift shop was also very friendly and helpful. We happened to be talking about the Egg Hunt that we thought we missed and the worker there picked up the phone without prompting and called the kids club to confirm where the hunt was and that we hadn't missed it. It may not seem like a huge favor but taking that extra step for us was so appreciated! The food at the resort is a bit pricey but at least delicious and we are pretty picky when it comes to that. Fresh local fish is on the dinner and lunch menu and even the pizza is tasty...$18 for a small soup appetizer is a bit much though. Another suggestion would be to have an expanded beach menu that features all different kinds of "pickings" such as the pizza, chips, guacamole, etc. Camion did show us a beach menu that had just a few options like calamari and hummus on it but he had to search for the menu in a closet - it should just be handy on all the beach chairs for people to order throughout the day. And have more staff handy for the beach service. The complimentary fruit kebabs, cooler of ice water and popsicles is also a fantastic touch... greatly appreciated! Kevin the manager is also a pleasure to speak with. He works non-stop and is there from breakfast through dinner greeting diners. The few mishaps we had weren't worth hunting him down for to complain so maybe that's our fault. This resort has such potential. Room rates are pretty high as is the food but it could be a 5 star resort with some help to justify the hefty price tag.

It really doesn't get any better than this!

I just got back from this property and I can't stop recommending this place to everyone I talk to. It's a gorgeous hotel with an impecable style. The food was fantastic and service was just lovely. From the moment you walk in the hotel until you step out you feel like in a Disney movie. I wish I could remember the name of all of the staff but they were all wonderful. From Kristal, Melissa, Michael, the chef, Tony at FD, Chris from guest assistant, Ben at the bar, all of the ladies at the breakfast! The rooms are very spacious and modern but still warm and cozy. I was there for work so didn't get the chance to go to the beach but even the view of the beach from my room seemed unreal. I loved it and hope to be back really soon!
