SEJOUR EN FAMILLE

Thanks you for this amazing week in your resort. It was very great and all the staff is very kind specilally DEONNE! sh'es just the perfect hoste! we were with our 3 year old son and everyone took care of us. The kid club is very convenient and safe for your babies. The restaurants are very good but a bit expensive.the concierge offered us nice excursions specially the lobster cruise and the visit to stingray city. Also, we enjoyed the snorkeling in the bay with a nice boat.A good memories for us.

Great choice for a relaxing getaway

My husband and I recently returned from Carlisle Bay to celebrate our 5th anniversary and we had a fabulous time. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. it is a very mellow and quiet resort and we were a bit surprised to see how many children were there but came to find out that it was a 2-week school holiday in the UK which explained the number of families that were there. They do try to keep the adults and the families separated on different sides of the resort and we did not mind. We had a 3rd floor ocean front room with a wonderful balcony to watch the sunset. The food was outstanding, but note that like most islands, it is very expensive and we were a bit surprised at the prices of the "buffet" at the Jetty Grille. The taxes of 12.5% don't help either! My husband arranged for a private dinner on the jetty on our anniversary and the hotel did a superb job and we enjoyed every second of the dinner - everything was perfect! We also did the 3 hour cruise with Prince and Cleve who took us snorkeling and on a tour of the island complete with a wonderful picnic lunch. it was well worth the price and we had a private cruise which made it even better.Special shout-outs to 1) Jerome who took such great care of us on the beach - we can't say enough good things about him. He was so responsive and caring (even offered to buy me Off Bug Spray when he went to the market) and was a total sweet heart. 2) Mindy at the Front Desk who worked with us and Expedia to honor the beverage package that we thought we purchased through Expedia but was mis-communicated. The hotel did the right thing and we did not have to pay for any of our drinks during our stay (a HUGE savings!). 3) Michael in Guest Services who personally drove us to dinner one night when the taxi didn't show and we were going to be late for our last dinner at Sheer Rocks. In all, the service was exemplary! Now the one area where I think the resort could approve is the Spa - it is in major need of a face lift. The treatments were superb and we loved our massage therapists, but in comparison to other 5 star resorts we have been to, the spa itself, is in major need of an overhaul. Don't expect to be impressed by the environment. I would also hope that they could set up an area to get massages and other treatments on the beach itself.Lastly, I would recommend to anyone who is visiting the resort to bring their own bug spray as the mosquitos and sand fleas are viscious!! I was bitten up from head to toe and the resort only supplies an all-natural bug spray which basically did not work for me at all.

Laid back and serene

My parents, friend and I stayed at the Carlisle Bay for a week in October while visiting family and friends. This is a boutique non-all inclusive hotel (I think they have options for all-inclusive). The hotel is quaint and very high on service. Everyone who works there knows your name and makes you feel welcomed! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are well maintained and spacious. Loved the soaking tub in the rooms. All of the rooms seem to be ocean view or ocean front we were in 214 and 115 (see pictures). The grounds are well maintained and landscaped. An area of improvement is to improving the lighting on the walking path in the evening...dark with limited lighting. The hotel has good variety on food. Four restaurants on site. Breakfast is complimentary and is a full breakfast with numerous options. A recommendation would be to add some additional West Indian options to the menu. The food is well prepared and seasoned. The service is 5 stars all around. This includes housekeeping (2x daily cleaning and turn down service). The beach service including the afternoon tea and complimentary refreshments was on point. Special recognition to Cameon (sp) for his service on the beach. The service in the restaurants and bars (efficient and friendly). The front desk was also very responsive. When we called for anything it was addresses in under 15 mins... awesome. The beach runs the full length of the resort and is very calm. It was a bit cloudy when we were there due to the recent hurricane but other frequent visitors said it’s usually very clear and calm. There is a nice size pool if you prefer the pool.Entertainment is a bit light and I would recommend adding a few additional options to the nightly line up. The hotel is cozy, well maintained with super friendly and warm staff. We had a very nice time and I will definitely be returning on a future visit to Antigua.

A piece of Paradise!

My husband and I travelled to Carlisle Bay as an alternative booking to our original plan to go to Sandals which closed quite suddenly for so called 'refurbishment'. British Airways Holidays rebooked us quickly and recommended an Ocean Suite at Carlisle Bay. The only difference being Scuba costs would be an additional charge. We feel we were very fortunate with the change of hotel as Carlisle Bay was not known to us and is really a piece of Paradise in Antigua. From the moment we arrived, we knew we would have a great holiday. Following our flight being delayed by 4 hours we were warmly welcomed and very quickly shown to our room as well as the main areas of the hotel. Our Suite was immaculate. It has all the facilities you need an more. Excellent air conditioning, which you need! Very spacious and all Ocean Suite have a view of the bay. We were on the 3rd floor/top floor with a lovely balcony. Restaurants and food overall is very good with again attentive staff. They are happy to accommodate any changes/ dietary requirements. Could not fault the food. Indigo very nice Mediterranean food, Ottimo is an tasty italian (nice Pizza), the Jetty Grill has salads and grills and East is great for a different taste of Far eastern food. You do need to book as all restaurants do get busy.We took full advantage of most water sports activities, water skiing, Hobiecat (had a lesson with Garfield and after that we were away on our own), kayaks; we even booked a discovery dive which the hotel organised via Azure Dives. Nothing was a problem. The whole water sports team are great. We have booked a 2 hour tour with the main boat they have tomorrow and looking forward to our trip to English Harbour. There is a Spa which we did not use and many tennis courts. Rackets and balls available to use. We planned to play tennis, but it was a bit too hot for us. As others have mentioned, the sand flies can be a nuisance, so please do your research and ensure you bring the appropriate creams, sprays to keep them at bay. If you know, you can manage it.The beach is stunning within its own private bay. The staff sorting the sunbeds and bringing our drinks, afternoon tea and lunch are super stars. Jerome has been particularly attentive and a great asset to the hotel. He even came in on his day off to help out and worked in the Indigo restaurant during breakfast time one morning!Only one small comment about not enough parasols for the beds. We understand they are on order. There seemed to also be early morning 'fights' for the first row of sunbeds, so be up at the crack of dawn if you want one when it is busy! Quite comical at times it was... Not sure what else the hotel can do about that.Other great staff members I recall are Odele, Georgia, Marlene, Michael from Guest Services is everywhere, every day checking everyone is happy! There are many more but can't remember all their names. The hotel is on the quiet side, so if you are after piece and quiet as well as a good rest, this is the place to be. you can have a very leisurely break or go full out with activities. I am hoping to be back one day and thoroughly recommend Carlisle Bay.

Tranquility

If you're looking for a quiet relaxing tranquil vacation in a small boutique type of hotel in the Caribbean the Carlisle would be the place for you. I spent four nights there in mid October and really only had two minor complaints that I will get to later.First off this is not an all inclusive resort however breakfast is complimentary and they do have a good selection of food for breakfast. The food at the resort is good I'm kind of partial to breakfast anyway its my favorite meal lol. Anyway they do have three other restaurant an Asian place which I didn't have a chance to try. An Italian place that has the best brick oven pizza you ever tasted and I'm from Philly so I know pizza and one other place near the beach that opens for lunch that serves Caribbean food such as jerk pork grilled fish and the like the food here was good as well. The rooms and the resort itself they keep in immaculate condition. The service is over the top SPECTACULAR. You don't have to ask for anything its there it's like they were mind readers lol. If you did need something it was done quickly and you received a follow up. We had a problem with our screen door to our patio it was fixed in a matter of minutes and we received a follow up call to make sure that the job was done. I really like that. On a side note I like to drink White Russians in the morning on this particular day they ran out of the coffee liqueur my server offered to go outside of the resort to the store and get it for me. I was totally blown away by that no one ever offered to that. I politely declined his generosity and going above and beyond. I wish I could remember his name but it escapes me. My two minor negatives about the property were one the sandflies. They are a huge problem on the beach they tend to come out early to late afternoon and when they come out they come out in swarms its a constant battle they literally ate me alive. My suggestion is to bring sunscreen that has a repellant and bring lots of it. I'm not sure if they could actually do anything about this problem not sure if it was due to the recent hurricanes or what but they were bad. The second negative was the lighting around the resort at night. It gets very dark on the resort with their narrow winding paths its hard to see. They do have small reflectors or motion lights when you walk by but its not enough in my opinion you could easily trip or fall if you're not paying attention or after a few drinks. So if you're looking for something secluded and quiet with great service I would recommend this place just bring repellant and a small flashlight lol.
