We received such wonderful customer service that I felt the need to write a review. The hotel, rooms, beach & amenities are all beautiful at Carlisle Bay, but with this visit the customer service really deserves the most credit. The staff made us feel so welcome & special that they deserve to be recognised for their hard work. This is a very special place & I hope we can return to enjoy everything about this resort again.
This was our family's fourth Christmas in a row at Carlisle Bay. The service as always was incredible! The beach is amazing, the staff are very friendly and very attentive. The restaurants are very good as well.
This was our second visit to the hotel and if possible, we found it even better than our trip the previous year. We had a beach terrace suite, which are spacious 2 room suites opening directly onto the beach. A lovely large day bed on the terrace to relax on and watch the world go by. With 2 children aged 4+7, the location couldn't have been any better. They were on the beach from the moment they got up to when we dragged them in at sunset. There is a lovely beach service- fruit kebabs mid morning, regular drinks waiter, filled ice boxes with plentiful water bottles and the option of afternoon tea on the beach or anywhere you might want it. There are plenty of sun loungers and this was never an issue. Our boys took part in various kids club activities, out turtle watching, Hobie cat, pool games, to name but a few. They loved it! The guys in the kids club were all fantastic and very approachable. They also had tennis lessons from Ken, which they enjoyed. For us, there was a good selection of eating options. We tried all the restaurants and our children were welcome in all bar the adults only Jetty Grill (which we went to once without them). The staff in all areas were friendly, helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. There are mosquitoes and sand flies, but this is a tropical beach destination, so I'm not sure why this would surprise people. There are repellants provided in the room for you to use. Yes there probably are some things that could be improved, but overall, we had a fantastic stay and hope we will return again soon. Thanks Carlisle Bay - we came home feeling rested and well and truly spoilt!
I first visited this hotel in Dec 2009 and it was lovely. Clean, beautiful setting and luxurious rooms. However, after returning in Dec 2016, it looked like there had been no real care and attention to the facilities. Rooms, although still lovely were a bit shabby. Stained mirrors, cracks on doors etc. Areas needed painting. With the exchange rate it was all very pricey which was probably not justified with facilities. It all felt a bit tired and deflated. This may have also accounted for the empty rooms over a peak holiday period. The staff were great as always. With my sister (a frequent visitor) and her two children it was fine. As an adult who has stayed in some beautiful hotels, I wouldn't visit again. A very expensive (3/4 star( hotel.
My husband and I visited Carlisle for two nights after island hopping to St Kitts and Nevis!Upon arrival we were greeted with a cocktail and taken on a tour of the property. We were then shown our room which was a sea view suite with unobstructed views over the ocean, absolutely a dream come true! There was a fan, king size bed, air con, an additional twin room and a large bathroom with shower, bath and separate toilet. My only complaint is there was no hairdryer or iron and when we called they didn't bring one, but that's island life sometimes. The restaurants are varied with a beach bar further down the private beach, fantastic fresh fish and lovely wine selections at the main restaurant which overlooks the sea. Great pizza, great live music in the evenings. Expect to spend a few pennies here, there is 10% tax and generally 10-15% compulsory service on top of already high prices but that's Antigua.Take mosquito spray, it's an absolute must!!! Weather was wet but still warm in mid Nov. Staff are charming, especially the concierge! Beach beds, towels and water with an ice cooler is all included, you even get free afternoon tea, most people have their special spots but if you have a sea view suite your beds (which are in front) are generally left alone until you need them. Hotel taxi service to the airport is $60USD and is booked through the hotel. Don't expect a smooth ride though.Recommend to couples!
