We chose Galley Bay because it was beautiful all inclusive resort with many amenities!! The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean! The refrigerator was stocked with your favorite soft drinks, water and beer everyday! The food was beyond our expectations!! Loved the bbq night! The entertainment every night was great! The bars were well stocked and the bartenders were right there remembering your drink of chose and in most cases your name, so you didn't even have to think. We loved sitting on the beach with the beautiful blue sky, inviting water and gorgeous sunsets. The pool was fun too. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and considerate of your every need!!! After a week of special treatment by this wonderful staff, who we have now come to call family. We had the best time!Galley Bay was the perfect fit for us as you can sit and relax and have all the quiet time you need or be busy every minute of your vacation with swimming, snorkling, long walks on the beach, water sports, excursions and personal tours around the gardens and bird watching along the lagoon and dancing under the stars every night!I just want to say thank you Galley Bay for making our very first trip to Antigua a very special vacation and we are looking forward to coming back soon!
My husband and I stayed 7 nights at Galley Bay and felt like we were on our own private island. We loved the quiet atmosphere and the sounds of nature...waves, birds and tree frogs. We loved the plush landscape and the intimate size of the resort. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. We took advantage of the off resort excursions - both a water Eco tour and a jeep land tour - I would highly recommend both! We plan to return next year.
My husband and I are nearing the end of our second holiday at Galley Bay in Antigua. I am happy to say that everything we loved about our first visit to this singular island, we are experiencing again. And our stay at Galley Bay Resort could not be more perfect. What we appreciate about this resort is the feeling that we are at a completely private retreat set on one of the island's most beautiful beaches. Antiguans have to be some of the most special people on the planet, genuinely gregarious and especially (when it comes to hospitality), concerned about each guest's experience. There is not a staff person from the restaurant managers to the gardeners who does not stop us to say hello and ask about our day. From our first greeting of "Welcome Home" through every greeting since our arrival, we do indeed, feel as though we are completely at home. Our accommodations right over the beach are spacious and beautiful and the views are stunning. There is nothing like reading a good book on our lanai and listening to the ocean while watching sailboats in the distance. Three superb restaurants (and a beach lunch grill) offer constantly changing menus with outstanding cuisine. We can't rave enough about Galley Bay, and we can't wait to return.
Not much. A 5 star from us on our second stay. All the five star reviews are pretty much true. But what about the 1,2,3,4 star reviews? Were there some common threads among them? To save you the trouble, I trolled them to see. Here they are in no particular order with some random commentsNo bar service on the beach. (True. But the beach is quite long. Besides you'll avoid a blood clot.) The water in the pool was cold. (Not in April it isn't. You want warm, go to Boca Raton, Fl.) Ocean rough / too many red flag days posted. (Depends what you're used to. "Rough days" are normal days in North Carolina. It's fine, just not dead calm all the time.) The menus got tiresome. (Not really. Then don't stay for 3 weeks.) The beach loungers are uncomfortable. (They're all pretty new. I though they were very good. The resin ones are gone.) The dinner wine isn't any good. (If you're used to knocking back Premier Cru Volnays and Screaming Eagle Cabernets, then you'll be disappointed. The sparkling white and the Malbec are perfectly acceptable. There's a wine list of better wines for purchase.) The internet is slow. (True. But not that slow. I streamed Netflix in the beachfront suite on several nights without a problem.) The beach suite room decor is tired. (It's not Architectural Digest stuff, and I'm told they're slated for update. Frankly, I didn't notice since most of the day and night is spent outside.) Restaurant service is slow. (Absolutely not.) Not much to do. (If you don't read, you could be in trouble. That said, there are enough water sports on the beach and activities arranged outside the resort to keep one plenty busy.)Some of the staff aren't friendly. (O.K., "them's fight'n words". WRONG. The staff is wonderful. I would go so far as to say that it's the staff that make the place so special, and a huge factor why the returning guest rate is so high. )Anecdote. We were talking to Michael, one of the managers. I told him that I remembered the curried goat I had in the Islands 2 years earlier when we were here sailing and how good it was. I asked him if the chef ever makes it in any of the restaurants. He excused himself and returned a few minutes later. He said I would be having it for dinner on Friday, and if I liked, could have it as a Roti Saturday for lunch, The curried goat was amazing. Thanks, Michael. And thank you, Galley Bay.
My wife and I stayed in a beach front room, open the curtains in the morning and there is the beach and stunning looking sea! from 29th March 2017 for 9 nights. The place is a wonderful, secluded, luxurious location. Food at all three main restaurants varied and always really good. Hotel team and service excellent (and genuine). Atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly. Happy to respond to others looking to stay at this resort if there are specific queries, overall a top holiday and location.
