Our Opinion
A popular choice in Antigua, the Galley Bay Resort offers 98 guest rooms with most of them just a step away from the ocean. This resort offers excellent food from its all a la carte dining options. Great for couples.

This tranquil, charming and intimate hideaway is set on 16 hectares and fronts a superb sweep of white sand beach. Take a splash in the man-made pool grotto or meander through the trails of the adjacent bird sanctuary. The unique circular Gauguin Village cottages feature charming and colourful island artwork while the beachfront rooms have custom-made rattan and bamboo furnishings, and Haitian art. This romantic, gracious all-inclusive is ideal for the discerning traveller seeking well-appointed surroundings, exquisite beach and fabulous dining.
Location: On the west coast on 40 secluded acres, 20 minutes from the airport.

Best Vacation Ever

This was the best vacation and resort I've ever been to. The staff was amazing, friendly and attentive. The room was impeccable and perfect for us (deluxe beachfront). The food was amazing and the restaurant choices were just enough for us. We were able to snorkel, hobie sail, paddleboard, play tennis, ride bikes, croquet and pool right at the resort. There was also plenty of quiet moments on the beach, chill in the hammocks and my favorite to watch the sunset in the rockers with a cocktail. The excursions through the hotel went above our expectations. We will be going back!

Beautiful beach with beautiful blue water. Snorkel around the corals to see colorful fish. Resort provides snorkeling equipment in your room. The view is breathtaking. Food is good & plenty of drinks. BUT the staff is what makes this place. Everyone treats you like family. Very friendly & accomodating. Too many wonderful people to name except I must give a "shout out" to two who went out of there way to make our visit special. Lisa always smiling & joking with us. Beautiful personality. Mayna who sent me soup & peppermint tea when I got too much sun & was too sick to come to dinner. They even called the room the next day to make sure I was ok. If you want loud music, bustle & hustle all the time skip this resort BUT if you want peace, quiet and a relaxing atmosphere then this is your place.

Amazing resort

We arrived on July 10 stayed for 10 days. What an amazing resort, food is all in, as is the drink and is excellent. We had a premium lodge, right on sea front (ask for a lower floor to open out onto the beach, palm trees etc. See picture .. I can also recommend the Coco Loco It involves rum and coconut cream :-)

Some Good. Some Bad. A little disappointed.

We are currently here at Galley Bay. We have traveled all over the carribean so we know things are different than in the U.S. My requirement for a relaxing vacation are to be able to sit on the beach, under an umbrella with an unobstructed view and not have to listen to anyone's conversations, children crying or people smoking. I really need to relax. I have been to Antigua before so I know the beaches are beautiful. Last time I stayed at Jolly Beach and we wanted to go higher end since the kids weren't traveling with us. When we arrived at check in, they gave us a cold towel and a drink, which was very nice(and needed). We got a golf cart tour of the place and were taken to our room. We were told we were upgraded to a 'deluxe oceanfront' room. All the rooms are ocean front and I'm not sure what the difference between deluxe and standard. The bathrooms do not look like they do on the website. Our deluxe bathroom needs some refurbishments. We do have a nice view from our room and can hear the ocean at night. Every room is given 2 chairs under a fixed straw umbrella(ie. can't be moved). Ours is stationed behind a large bush, which obstructs my view of the beautiful beach. Why is this a problem? This is the Caribbean and I'm trying hard not to get sunburned, but I did pay to actually look at the beach. I asked for a mobile umbrella, but they do not have one. They sent somebody to prune the bush, but they would actually have to take out 1/2 the plant, which isn't appropriate. There seems to be no solution. Guest services is not able to help me make this a great experience. If I move my chairs so it's under a tree, but away from the view of the bush, I am now basically sitting on top of the next room's space, which isn't right. Another issue I have is that this is not a non-smoking property. People are smoking all over the place and it's nasty when you are lying on the beach and a cloud comes your way. For the most part, the beach is quiet. It's definitely rougher than the other beach I stayed on in Antigua, but not a deal breaker. The food has been edible at best. The breakfast has been the best meal. We have eaten at the Sea Grape for dinner three times now since this has been our only option so far. Every night we have been one of the first couples to arrive and every night we have felt forgotten. Last night, we left before the dessert arrived b/c I'm absolutely sure they forgot about us. It's been frustrating. Also, there is an option to pay $25 to have the lobster, but I was told it's a half a lobster. Um, really? The other restaurant is an extra $42/person, but since I already paid for an all inclusive restaurant, why would I pay more? The 3rd restaurant is only open Thursday Friday and Saturday's. However, I have eaten there for lunch and it has been a better experience than the Sea Grape. Be prepared: all the food is very, very, very SALTY!! Another annoyance for a resort that caters to couples is there is no room service. The bartenders have all been very nice but the quality of the drinks varies. There is no waitstaff talking drink orders on the beach or pool. Housekeeping has been great. The spa was wonderful. We did a couples massage today which was fantastic!! Basically, I needed a break from everything and I came here to relax. I got the quiet, but I didn't feel that staff went out of their way to make things fabulous for us. I felt the staff at Jolly Beach went above and beyond. Needless to say, I'm disappointed at Galley Bay. I have 2 more days left so maybe things will change.

Antigua 2017!!!

We absolutely loved this place....Quiet, serene, beautiful. Every single employee that we came in contact with was wonderful! Food was great! Different menus each night at dinner. Great seafood! We also liked the fact that this is a smaller, very private resort. We can only hope to go back again one day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
