Our Opinion
A popular choice in Antigua, the Galley Bay Resort offers 98 guest rooms with most of them just a step away from the ocean. This resort offers excellent food from its all a la carte dining options. Great for couples.

This tranquil, charming and intimate hideaway is set on 16 hectares and fronts a superb sweep of white sand beach. Take a splash in the man-made pool grotto or meander through the trails of the adjacent bird sanctuary. The unique circular Gauguin Village cottages feature charming and colourful island artwork while the beachfront rooms have custom-made rattan and bamboo furnishings, and Haitian art. This romantic, gracious all-inclusive is ideal for the discerning traveller seeking well-appointed surroundings, exquisite beach and fabulous dining.
Location: On the west coast on 40 secluded acres, 20 minutes from the airport.

Unreal experience

Amazing. Private. Romantic. Absolutely beautiful. My husband and I have never been to a destination quite like Galley Bay. The grounds are spectacular and very well maintained. The view of the ocean from our room was out of this world. The food was so delicious and never too heavy. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We loved the spa. We met a few couples who were spending their 2nd or 3rd time at Galley Bay and I can see why. We were beyond pleased with our stay and we hope to visit again.

Paradise revisited!

This was our fourth visit to Galley Bay, we stayed for two weeks and have already decided to stay for three next year! There are no negatives to be said of Galley Bay. The food is excellent and refreshments at the bars top notch. We were particularly pleased with the variety of locale cuisine. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The location is spectacular, the grounds are well maintained and lush with vegetation. We would reccomend Galley Bay to anyone

A fantastic glorious scenic location. Relax, enjoy and put 8lbs on!

We have just returned from our second fantastic 14 day stay at Galley Bay ResortThe resort provides a great Adult only, relaxed resort, with management engendering amongst all categories of staff a feeling that guests and staff are a family. The aim is to ensure that all guest needs are attended to... And in all fairness the Resort come pretty close to perfection. Certainly various supervisory staff ask frequently if everything is Ok and can they do anything to help. And when we overheard other guests with the odd grumble and moan, or special need it was quickly rectified. We found the food portions just right, and even then still came home 8 lbs heavier despite me looking through the gym door 4 times!Sea conditions for us in June were all green flag days, any rain was almost exclusively late at night/over night, and come on gone in no time. Occasional slight breeze pool side was very refreshing, to accompany the occasional poolside ice lollies and requests for drinks orders rather than a short walk to TeePee Bar.In the big scheme of things comes close to perfection, and when you are doing nothing all day except laze about maybe tiny trivial issues worry some people more than others. If we were picking out tiny issues that could be improved we would wish when occupancy rates are lower off season for Gaugin to still be open more at lunchtimes and evenings, instead of the focus remaining on SeaGrape restaurant; for a bit more consistency in speed of meals service in SeaGrape, at times slightly more outgoing friendly staff to be based at the TeePee Bar, But these are all just small issues in the big picture of a fantastic holiday. We met some great couples this year who we hope to meet up with again.. And have already booked for our 3rd visit in April 2018

Wedding and birthday visit to paradise

We visited Galley Bay for a number of reasons, primarily for a wedding, which we wanted to be barefoot on the beach,my wife's 50th birthday and a first visit to the Caribbean. We were not disappointed in any way.The wedding was perfect, my wife was absolutely spoiled for her birthday and we had a magnificent time. We referred to it a number of times but we felt like we were treated like royalty. ALL the staff were superb. Several stood out a bit more (Keitha, Iba, Timothy, Denval, Troya, Dwayne, Shilo and of course Ernestine and Rovena) but we had nothing but positive experiences and superb treatment from everyone, from cleaners, groundsmen, cooks/chefs, bar staff, waiting staff, water sports team, Cedric, everyone. The place is a paradise and we could not have chosen a more perfect place for a perfect wedding and holiday. The food was absolutely outstanding in all 3 restaurants and we had the meal on the beach also. Very romantic. The wedding was literally picture perfect and beautifully done. We did feel that Ismays was possibly not really worth the extra money for dining there since the food in the other restaurants was equally as great but it did offer a better wine selection and no allocated time slot, however without doubt we preferred eating in Gaugin since it was more intimate in the little individual beach huts. The only negative thing we could even say about it was that perhaps we could have had a mat to wipe the sand off our feet before going in the room. We noticed some rooms had bowls outside under the outside showers which would have done the trick but we have tongues in out head and could easily have asked for one of those but we didn't. Hardly life or death stuff! All in all, we are dying to return and will definitely do so once we have saved enough and would not hesitate recommending the place to anyone.More than willing to answer any questions and cannot wait to return.....just need to save a bit........

Amazing stay

We stayed at Galley Bay June 3rd through the 8th! I am 30 and my fiance is 28. We take a trip to a different area in the Caribbean every year. We chose Antigua this year & after months of research decided on Galley Bay resort! We had one of the Gauguin suites & i would definitely recommend getting this suite. It is completely secluded w/ a private plunge pool. We didn't even use the main pool bc we had our private pool. The main pool was stunning we just never saw the need to swim there w/ others when we had our 2 lounge chairs right next to our own little pool. On arrival we had little red ants in our room which we thought was due to the flowers they had placed throughout the suite. We called reception & asked if they could skip placing any more flowers in our room throughout our stay. They obliged but it didn't seem to help the ant problem...They stuck around and there were a lot. But we overlooked this because we weren't going to let a few small ants ruin our vacation. The room was always well kept and clean. New towels when needed & we were a small walk away from the beach activities hut where we could grab some new beach towels when needed. We reused all of our towels as often as we could bc we knew it would help their going green cause! We walked around the lagoon & rode bikes, which were provided, around the lagoon everyday of our stay. We booked an excursion w/ Wass, who was great, he took us to Bettys Hope, Devils bridge, long beach, & some shopping. If you love natural wonders like me devils bridge is the place to go, I could have stayed there all day taking photographs! Our last full day we booked a couples massage in the spa. We only did a 30 min massage & asked that they only target our backs because we both have a lot of back pain...boy did we ever wish we had done the hr long massage! It was amazing! We kayaked twice while we were there & also tried our hand at paddle boarding which was fun & interesting! We snorkeled everyday. We brought our own equipment...But if you don't have your own they provide for you. We saw many fish and even some rays along the rocks about 100 yards out from the resort. The food was great... every meal, every day! The only issue we had was that not everyone working at the resort was pleasant. We have traveled to many places and compared to our stays at other resorts we didn't seem to feel as welcome. Other than that the property is gorgeous and food & drink were phenomenal!! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
