Loved our stay here for me 50th birthday. Yes most of the clientele are older but it really didn't matter. Food was excellent in all three restaurants and the bare foot grill. All staff were friendly especially Timothy, Lisa, Myrna and the legend Michael, the only people I would say were missing smiles were the ladies on reception which was a shame! Our room was right on the beach near the Seagrape so was handy for everywhere. On the whole we were pleased with it, yes Wifi was slow but hey we were won holiday so nothing needed to be rushed. The shower was a bit feeble and if the art work on the walls were updated it would make a massive difference to the look. Our fridge was replenished most days.Unfortunately we had red flag a few times during our stay but did manage to have a go at paddle boarding and also took out a canoe to see further round the bay, the water sports guy was ever so jolly and helpful.Choice of alcohol was good I could get used to drinking champagne with my lunch all day! It would be nice to to have a better selection of gin but the rum selection was excellent!!All in all Galley Bay felt like a hidden slice of luxury on Antigua and I hope to return one day.
Beautiful location with amazing staff, brilliant facilities and a perfect mix of luxury and peacefulness. Friendly and very attentive staff, lovely Sade beach, beautiful rooms and superb restaurants and bars.
Have stayed here 4 times and each time better than before. Welcoming and relaxing. The staff make your stay. Long serving members that remember and welcome you back. Lovely grounds. Lovely people. Highly recommend.
This is our third visit to this resort. We were in room 27 - Premium Beachfront which had been updated with new furnishings - see photo. We've had an excellent time apart from the biting bugs! No matter what we tried on ourselves and spraying the room we ended up with lots of bites which weren't very pleasant! The sea was rough for most of our stay with only one day with a green flag, a couple of ambers but mostly red. There is a lovely pool to swim in and I enjoyed that everyday. My husband enjoyed the well equipped gym.The resort is in a lovely location and is very quiet and restful. Most of the staff are fantastic. Hazeldene, Mynra and all the staff in Seagrape, Gauguin and Ismay's are exceptional and deserve a lot of praise and thanks. We found the bar staff another matter!! My word you had to work hard for a smile!!! Food is really good in all three restaurants. Everything is very fresh.Don't come expecting great wifi in the rooms. It's very flakey and frustrating!! My husband called it a 'Wifi NOT Spot' !! There's better wifi at the coffee shop and the resort is going to install fibre optic at some point which will be a great improvement. One thing we didn't like, since our last visit last year, was people taking food out from the Seagrape or Barefoot Grill and sitting in the bar eating lunch! I even saw people around the pool doing the same thing. Nothing worse than having a quiet drink and smelling burgers or wraps!!!Cedric and the management team are always very visible which was great to see. We'll miss Arlene and her hugs! Thank you.
Went with wife for 8 nights recently, staying in Premium beachfront rooms. Very good resort/facilities, food, drink, options, service, beach, rooms etc etc. We really liked all 4 restaurants, and thought Ismay's was worth the extra money and another option. Barefoot Grill and Rum Shack were especially nice aspects to visit for lunch and drinks. Wife really like the spa with 2 treatments. We found all the employees somewhat reserved in nature but think it is part of the culture on the island - but overall very nice and helpful, especially when you spent time to talk to them. We were on the end of beach in 46 above - which we liked the high ceilings, and was nice to have drinks available at Ismay's during the day. We also actually liked having a longer walk to main area, pool and restaurants for the extra steps considering the extra food and drink.....Everyone has gone thru the positives, so no need to go thru them all again in detail - but it was amazing the number of returnees to the property, how friendly most were, and it certainly is understandable and says a lot. We think we will also return, which is big for us, since there is a big world to visit. The only negative we could really find is food not really being readily available or at least publicized from 5-6p when we arrived. I heard there was snacks or food at the bar, but when arriving like another reviewer mentioned there is a window when no restaurants open ( and after a long day of travel it would have helped). We have been to most Caribbean islands, but felt the sightseeing, places to visit and shopping was limited on Antigua. We also cancelled renting a car, which we always do when visiting islands to explore, due to limited places to see after taking a tour with VIP tours (excellent), and the confusing roads and lack of driving signs. And with this resort you really do not need to leave !Again, strongly recommend coming here, with no hesitation.John
