Our Opinion
A popular choice in Antigua, the Galley Bay Resort offers 98 guest rooms with most of them just a step away from the ocean. This resort offers excellent food from its all a la carte dining options. Great for couples.

This tranquil, charming and intimate hideaway is set on 16 hectares and fronts a superb sweep of white sand beach. Take a splash in the man-made pool grotto or meander through the trails of the adjacent bird sanctuary. The unique circular Gauguin Village cottages feature charming and colourful island artwork while the beachfront rooms have custom-made rattan and bamboo furnishings, and Haitian art. This romantic, gracious all-inclusive is ideal for the discerning traveller seeking well-appointed surroundings, exquisite beach and fabulous dining.
Location: On the west coast on 40 secluded acres, 20 minutes from the airport.

Beautiful Resort

This resort was very clean and well Maintained. It gets a little quiet at night, not too much night life after 10pm. But the beach is beautiful and the staff was amazing. The food at all the restaurants was very good and the drinks kept on coming. Beach service was lacking but I didn't mind the walk up to the bar.

Idyllic holiday in paradise

If you want a peaceful holiday, relaxing, right on the beach, with evening entertainment from carribean groups, good food and friendly staff, this is the place to go. The management are always on hand to help solve any problem that may arise(we had none). The sea was rough in front of our bungalow for a few days, the hotel arranged transport to another beach(close by) if you wanted to go, which other hotel do you know that would do that?. Will definite return for our 4th time.

Relaxing Stay

Nice lay out of the resort. Very laid back and relaxing. The restaurants had great food and just the right portions. The beach was definitely one of the nicer and bigger ones I'd seen on the island. Loves the premium suite and the staff was very friendly and helpful!

An Amazing Place to Relax

Our first stay at The Galley Bay Resort, 8 days and nights of rest and relaxation. The beach is stunning and resort service is excellent (praise in particular to Grantley, Lisa and Natasha for their constant cheerfulness). We stayed in Room 16 (Deluxe Beachfront, one storey building) which was a great room, great location within the resort, fabulous privacy and an abundance of sunbeds, direct access to the beautiful long sandy beach. Food in The Seagrape and Gauguin was fantastic, plentiful, always served beautifully. More casual snacks at the Barefoot Grill which were good, didn't try Ismays (a little disappointed a fee would have been chargeable at Ismays and food at other restaurants was so good anyway, we didn't need to go elsewhere). One day we took a shuttle taxi to a neighbouring beach, laid on by the hotel, to enjoy a calmer swim (others who stayed at a similar time have already mentioned the swell of the sea for a few days meant 'our' sea was a little rougher than usual, one thing that can't be booked but the hotel 'fixed' it for us to enjoy the sea at Deep Bay just around the corner from Galley Bay, with a member of staff to hand and a cooler of cold drinks). After 6 days of R&R we were gently persuaded by Shiloh at Watersports to let him take us on a 30min trip out into the bay on a Hobie Cat where he showed us an underwater shipwreck (we could see a long way down in that clear sea and the swell had turned the sea to practically a mill pond by then), he told us stories about local Antigua landmarks and we even saw a turtle swim past, perfect! Would definitely recommend Galley Bay if you are looking to relax a lot and be spoilt !

Had a brilliant stay at this great resort, unfortunately for us it was only for 5 nights but certainly better than no nights!I loved the fact that it was adults only, virtually all the rooms have an ocean view and nothing ever seemed crowded. One of my bug bears is heading to the pool only to find people draping towels over 'their' sun loungers to 'reserve' them, we had no problems finding loungers every day we went down to the pool, a very refreshing change. I think the fact that virtually all the rooms overlook the sea, and also abundant sun loungers outside the rooms take the pressure off the pool. Food and service very good, 4 different dining venues is impressive especially given there are only 98 rooms, and cocktail the best I have had at any AAI resort or many bars for that matter, no weak cocktails here and all made with international well known brands, they even give you a big sippy cup you can keep fir whatever you want to put in them, whether it's water or an extra big pina colada to have by the pool, fantastic!Well recommended and would love to pay a return visit. We stayed in a premium beach front suite on the ground floor, plenty of room, great views and roomy bathroom. Only downside were very average toiletries, just a big pump thingy of bath gel and shampoo which wasn't very good at all, was expecting something better...
