This resort has a unique setting as it is situated on a hillside, the views of Jolly Harbour are beautiful. We were in a room of the higher numbers which we walked to most of the time as we appreciated the exercise, but on occasion we took the handy shuttle which was prompt and the drivers friendly.Full breakfast was part of our package and we ordered a hot breakfast each day which was tasty.A special mention for Clifton who was friendly and efficient at Breakfast and looked after us at the beaches, also Tony the beach shuttle driver who was a great guy getting to and from both the beautiful beaches and was brilliant helping us out on our last day so that we could get some beach time before flying home. Our room was clean and the bed was super comfy, air conditioning worked a treat.A handy tip would be to take a torch as if you're walking back to your room at night the paths could be a little dark.
There seems to be a bug infestation at the room that we stayed in. My boyfriend and I had many small red bites on our legs and arms. It seemed like either flea / bed bug bites on the hind sight. Generally the rooms need better cleaning. We saw a bag of dirty bedsheets left in our room after the cleaning lady came. The plunge pool in our room was not filtered majority of the time. The the AC unit was also making really loud noise which sounded like a house party with heavy beats at a far away distance. Personally I won't recommend the place to anyone.
This hotel is lovely small blocks of rooms nestling in beautiful gardens on a hillside. The room was immaculate. plenty of storage space, balcony with splash pool and wetroom. we were on the second level and had a lovely view over the lush green trees and bushes to the sea. The main bar, pool and restaurant were really pretty and the staff were lovely. We booked all inclusive but spent a few days out. They were very generous with portions and branded drink. Our main problem was with breakfast time. It was shambolic. Unfortunately there seem no order. Some mornings there were over 6 people waiting some up to 15 minutes. When we got satat our table. Sometimes it took a long time for our order to be taken, sometimes not. We had a couple of occasions when we did not get what we ordered. This was particularly bad on the last few days. Some of the evening times were also very slow. Most of the meals were really nice but unfortunately some of the fish meals were over cooked. We met the Food and Drinks Manager in the last few hours of our stay at the hotel and let him know about these problems. He said he understood that there had been some issues and he had that day put in place a different regime and new menus. I really hope all is well now as it is a lovely place to visit.
I will start by stating that the staff are friendly - as we found wherever we have been in Antigua, but the level of professionalism is sometimes woeful. This was only a short stay and we didn't eat in the restaurant every evening, but when we did it bordered on a shambles. On one occasion we ordered a bottle of wine and were told 15 minutes later that the bottle didn't exist because the waitress had given us the wrong wine list - bizarre that there are 2 wine lists?!On another occasion during "happy hour" I ordered sushi to be told later that it wasn't available - no big deal - but when I ordered chicken satay (which I presume would have arrived on a skewer with peanut sauce) I got pieces of honey glazed chicken on a plate with chips and lettuce. The crunch came when we gave it a last chance, but 15 minutes after we ordered from the menu the waitress returned to say she had given us the wrong menu (clearly there are at least 2 menus and 2 wine lists in circulation!). I don't always check the bill but at the end of the meal we found we had been charged for 2 bottles of wine instead of one which added US$35 to the bill. We pointed this out but after 10 minutes waiting for the waitress to return with the correct bill, I went to the "reception" to find that the waitress was arguing with the chef and hadn't started to correct our bill.It simply is a nice looking hotel, with friendly staff but a woefully inadequate restaurant at lunch and dinner time. And although breakfast is ok the standard of food is not great for the status the hotel is trying to portray and as such is grossly over priced.
We were in Room 40 which is lovely and a good little walk away from main buildings, and when we were flooded the hotel staff were amazing. The hotel is pretty and facilities are goodHowever what makes this hotel amazing is it staff who are the most friendly team ever.I cant remember the last time I went anywhere where the staff hug you to say goodbyeWe were all inclusive and although the menu at dinner isn't extensive it was very good, we actually loved the fact that there was no buffet, all the food cooked was made to orderCarmichael's was a lovely extra in the week and again it very specialBeach transport was fun and service on the beach at Crows Nest was amazingI would like to thank all the staff at the hotel for a wonderful holiday
