Brickell Bay Beach Club
- What's Included
Having travelled all over the work due to my occupation I've stayed in some stayed in many hotels which were provided by my company which have been average to say the least but the Brickell Bay took the standard to a new level, unfortunately down the way! The hotel is dingy, the room I had was dated and needs to be refurbished. The air con is either on or off, on the room is freezing and off me as you have a very slippery and dangerous floor due to the dampness in the room. The sheets on the bed weren't clean and had black granules all over them, I brought this to the attention of the receptionist only to be told they were clean. My colleague also had the pleasure of a cockroach for company in his room. Not a pleasant experience to say the least. If you read this review then please don't stay at the Brickell Bay unless there are no other alternatives!
This hotel is getting old. The A/C in the room is old and moldy. You can't control the thermostat so you can't change the temperature if you are cold or hot! Also, the fan in the room is very loud and has only one speed. It goes really fast and It feels like it would fall on your head! Finally, we saw cockroaches in the room, mold basically everywhere and the door that leads to the hallway was falling off the hinges, we almost got locked out because the door was not hanging on the hinges! I would probably not stay here again.
So this review is well over due. We decided that we wanted to go to Aruba because everyone says the weather is perfect! My husband and I are a blended family and get 2 weeks a year to travel without our children, therefore we prefer an adults only resort when we aren't traveling with the kids. As usual I'm going to list the pros and cons whereas I find that to be the simplest way to read a review when I'm reading reviews.PROS It's Aruba! It is true what they say about the weather and the beaches. UNBELIEVABLE!! With that being said, the WIND. Wow. It is ALWAYS WINDY! So if you have long hair it can be quite a pain in the neck and quite frustrating at times. My husband is bald so he absolutely loved it. CONS Now the Hotel. Not what I expected at all. They said it was a 3 1/2 star which is usually as low as we'll stay and that's not often, but the pictures looked so nice and it was close to everything that we wanted. We usually travel all inclusive because it's so worth it to not worry about money once you're on vacation (other than tipping). Brickell Bay is not a 3 1/2 star, we changed our room within the first five minutes of arrival. Our second room was much better but had a loud a/c and we had a huge dehumidifier that we had to empty ourselves two times a day. The bathroom was very basic and run down with chipping on the walls and in the shower. We could never get face clothes, even though we asked several times. It said "Continental breakfast included" What a joke that was. It is a basket of beads and mini muffins which can be old. There is one good thing in the basket although I don't remember what it is called but it is fried, so it's good but not good for you. haha. No one uses the pool because you have access to the beach right down the street which was great. Be warned there is a nightclub at the back of the hotel that plays pumping music until 2 in the morning almost every night with lasers that shine around everywhere. I would not go back to this hotel and would not recommend this to anyone that is looking for a romantic adult only trip.Aruba is gorgeous! We had a great time. We ates at the local restaurant and listened to local music at Sopranos Piano Bar. So much fun! There is a bar called Salt and Pepper. What a great local bar. They have happy hour everyday at 5 and they make the best frozen Mojitos! The staff is awesome. I will say that it is very expensive so bring your wallet, but it is so worth seeing Aruba and not staying at an all inclusive where you only have the resorts food to choose from. Hint there are early bird specials at all the restaurants and the food is delicious and fresh everywhere!
We planned out Aruba vacation in a hurry and on a whim. While we belong to both a top-shelf timeshare exchange group AND a vacation club, the week we could go happened to be Spring Break and neither avenue had much to offer. We found Brickell Bay through the Aruba Chamber of Commerce and just booked it. As luck would have it, we found ourselves in the center of the best section on Aruba (Palm Beach) with easy walking access to the best beach and best attractions - we had a great time at a fraction of the cost of the surrounding resort-ish accommodations (Hyatt, Occidental, etc). While Brickell Bay is not a luxury establishment it is clean and comfortable, has a great pool, a nice restaurant right downstairs and great value - we had one of our best vacations ever (and we have been to many many NICE places. I recommend it as a "base of operations" - I assure you, with all there is to do in Aruba you are not going to spend a lot of time in your hotel.
Pure quality of rooms and clean. I stayed at ground floor, the room is dark, very few lights inside without view. You can also hear very well the othets rooms...The "smart doors" doesn' smart... The food quality at the restaurant is not good and very expensive. I suggest only pizza.
