Brickell Bay Beach Club
- What's Included
I have been to Aruba several times and have always stayed at one of the main hotels. This was a last minute trip and my friends were at the Hyatt, so i figured this would be an affordable trip and right across from them. WELL, i should have spent the extra money for the Hyatt. The room was always damp and humid, my clothes felt wet every time i took something out of the closet or suitcase. The WiFi hardly worked, and when i called the front desk they said "you have to bring it down here" so i did, and they couldn't fix it either, they said it was "down". then my TV didn't work in my room. It turned on, and shut off 10 seconds later. I called them about this, and they also never fixed it. I didn't care as much because i was never in the room, but it was bad. Then one night, the AC shuts off. looks like a new unit on the wall - i call the desk, and they said, verbatim "yes, someone in another room did something to lock all the units" i said What do u mean? and she said "just wait, it will work maybe" and hung up. the room was disgustingly hot, and finally the AC came on around 2am. The room was old, a lot of chipped paint, broken molding, the closet doors didn't roll, just an old cheap place. I will definitely be returning to Aruba - but not staying here!
Stayed for one week, and we were expecting a newly refurbished hotel along with all the other facilities on the hotel's website. WE WERE DISAPPOINTED.The website states there is a cocktail on check-in and a concierge service to help with luggage. We did not see either of these things. We also had to pay $66 on check in which we had not been aware of.The hotel is not recently refurbished, at least not the parts that we saw. Our original room on the 2nd floor was dreadful. The air con was really old and apart from on and off there was no adjustment. It was rusty and the top was broken. The rust running from the bottom of it had left really nasty stains on the floor. The ceiling fan also had no adjustment to the speed and it was going so fast that it looked like ti would come off the ceiling, so we switched it off. The bathroom was old, worn and shabby, as was the bedroom. We complained to the front desk and after 2 days and much persistence we were moved to the 4th floor. This room was much better, but not boutique or newly refurbished. Most days after the room was serviced we had to wait until late afternoon/evening for towels at there were not enough for every room and housekeeping had to wash and dry them. They then forgot to bring them back and we had to ask every day. We resorted to hiding them in the wardrobe so that we could have a shower whenever we wanted! There was a bottle of water in the room, but only once and it was not replaced after the first day. There were no net curtains on the windows so we had to keep the curtains closed as anyone could see in. The seats in the pool, at the bar are very worn and the stones are really sharp and uncomfortable to sit on.GOOD POINTSHotel was really clean throughoutStaff were friendlyPool area was not busy and we could always have a choice of sunbedsReally good sunbeds that did not tip over Breakfast was fine (Eggs, potatoes, sausage or bacon, Orange juice, Tea or coffee)WiFi worked all over the hotel, including by the pool.We enjoyed our stay in Aruba but we would not stay at this hotel again until it is updated and modernised.
This was our first time staying in Aruba as we had been there before on a cruise. We chose Brickell Bay for the value. The website advertises that it is a “recently remodeled luxury boutique and has a 3-Star rating. This place is definitely NOT worth 3 stars. It was more like 1-star. Our room was far from being recently remodeled. The entire hotel, with the exception of the front desk, was very outdated. At first we gave it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the service was going to be great. Wrong again! Twice we had to ask to have our room cleaned even though there was a card in the room that said the room would be cleaned twice a day. 4 times we had to ask for towels because the room would be cleaned but the used towels would be taken away and no new towels replaced. Twice we had to ask for toilet paper. The room would have been cleaned and towels replaced but no new toilet paper. Once the room was cleaned and everything replaced but our full trash can was left behind. It got to the point where we would try to guess what they had and hadn’t done. On our last day, housekeeping showed up at 8:00am even though checkout wasn’t until 12pm. Mind you, there were times our room wouldn’t get cleaned until late afternoon. This place has so much potential due to its location and price but we will never stay here again and will not recommend this place to our friends.
My fiance and I visited Aruba recently, we booked this hotel due to the location and the price was reasonable in comparison with the rest of hotels at palm beach. The check-in was around 20 min and we were the only guests at the reception. I asked the girl how many rooms they had she answered that they had 90 rooms. We were the only guests doing the check in and it was only one receptionist, I can't imagine how would it be if 70 guests decide to arrive the same time we did. When we get to the room the key didn't work, we had to go to the reception like 3 times, and all we got from the receptionist is that somebody will go to help us. Which took 15 or 20 minutes more. It wasn't a good start, the room was ok, the cleaning was good at least, but in general I think this hotel needs to be renewed. It's old fashioned and no services at all! Not even a good service at the check in to start! 85$ per night is not worth it for what we got, besides some taxes weren't included and the confirmation didn't mention that (please, re-check your politics of booking on your web page) We will go back to Aruba but definetevely not to brickell. Hotels are supposed to make you feel good on your hollidays not to give you headaches! If the manager reads this review, please try to renew the concept of service you have too.
I stay regularly at this hotel and there service has became sub standard and what really bothers me is there extream lack of respect and loyaly to there regular customers. I will never stay there again and suggest to everyone else.
