We have been vacationing at the Divi Phoenix for years and have witnessed a much appreciated transformation that includes kitchen renos in the tower and villas, entertainment several nights a week at Pure Beach and Pure Ocean, reliable tower elevator service, etc. That being said, I was very dissatisfied this year with the plumbing. Three out of four weeks I was showering in tubs that did not drain, so I was standing in my own dirty water up to my ankles.Unit 1301 has long been a problem and I was looking forward to moving to 1102, which historically as not had a drainage problem.I requested assistance while in both units, and while in unit 1102, I escalated to a more senior level because the maintenance (snake and drain cleaner) did not yield a positive result. By the end of my 4th week I was still standing in dirty water while showering.Cleanliness is sufficiently important to me that I cannot rate the Phoenix this year more than average. Since I heard similar complaints from some other guests, I'm guessing that there is a broader plumbing issue that needs to be addressed.I hope that the Phoenix staff and management can address this concern. I want to and expect to be delighted.
Our fifth time in Aruba and we always stay at this resort. We love the pool area and we love the beach area. The Pure Beach swim up pool bar is the best. Great food, great drinks. Pure Ocean restaurant is highly recommended. You can eat at a table right on the sand. We always get a one bedroom unit which is really roomy and comfortable. We take advantage of the full kitchen for many meals during the week. Restaurants and Casinos are all walking distance which we loved. We love Aruba!!!
Spent a week here. Had a room on the ground floor which I loved. Had a nice patio that was shaded, very near a pool. There were lots of little cabanas to sit under and be shaded around the pool and at the beach. Beach is an inlet so you don't get the big waves. Bus is very easy to use, get a day pass, it's cheaper to go downtown. Or taxi is always available. There is a walkway we discovered this time from the resort all the way to the restaurant's. Nice exercise or evening walk.We ate breakfast at the resort cafe and supper once at the Pure Ocean at resort. The rest were downtown and took a taxi to Red Fish where the locals eat. Wonderful. Did the sunset cruise with drinks and hors d'oeuvres, which is fun and the semi submerged boat to see the sunken WWII ship and tropical fish. Don't recommend it, windows leave a lot to be desired, not very clear. Did take a taxi to the Aloe factory for tour, love their products. Only rained once and cleared up fast.Had lots of clean towels everyday, whicj is such a plus. Everyone speaks English and the water is the best in the world.
Stayed at Divi for a week. Check in was fast. Upon arrival room was a little musty. Ants in room , I travel with organic bug spray (recommended) so I sprayed the room, next days ants were few. I felt master bathroom was a little small, jacuzzi was behind door taking up much needed space.Pool area clean, beach a few steps away which I love. Staff friendly and helpful.Overall pleasant stay. I would stay here again.
The Divi Phoenix is an oceanfront timeshare resort. Reservations can be made through Red Week.com. We loved the beautiful beach and proximity to many fine restaurants. A word to the wise if you want a great spot on the beach plan on being an early riser. My husband would be on the beach by 5 AM to reserve a spot, bring his coffee and shoot the bull with the Palapa boys club. At 7 o'clock chairs are unlocked and the Palapa boys club drag chairs and lounges to their respective Palapas. Beware there is Palapa police and your day could be ruin if your spot is left unattended 2 or more hours. Overall we loved the Divi Phoenix and will be back.
