Began coming to Aruba, in general, in 2016 for our Honeymoon. By day 2, we knew we'd be back...and so we bought into Interval. So glad we did!!!! We absolutely love Aruba...and the Divi properties...however chose both times to stay at the Phoenix. Over a year after our honeymoon, the staff remembered my husband and I...we were warmly greeted, just as we were our first time. As owners, we had some questions and things to take care of while we were there. Alberto and Malvina could not have been any more pleasant to work with....just as they were last year. Truly genuinely kind people! Overall, the staff is beyond friendly, inviting, helpful and responsive to all of our needs. The property itself, though could use some TLC and upgrades in regard to the elevators and some breeze/hallway cleaning, is a beautiful place! The grounds are typically pretty quiet, minus your normal Caribbean music by the bars, for events, etc. Though this time, there were some rather comical and entertaining shenanigans going down a couple of days on the beach, between 2 or 3 other parties. Again, more comical than anything else, but at times it was also annoying with regard to relaxation on the beach or by the beach-side pool area. The beach is wonderful and well kept though thanks to tides and such, a bit more rocky this year. The spa is AMAZING! Both times we've visited, Carolina and staff (Luz, Liseth, etc) are overly friendly...it is a TRUE spa experience! It is amazing how they book clients for spa services without anything overlapping and therefor, you can truly soak up the elevated waterfront view during your pedicure and the most relaxing and pleasurable massage in their serene rooms. Especially being they share a floor with the gym! Here and there you could hear some commotion through the walls however there is still a lot of renovations going on, so it is understandable. The music throughout the spa; perfect combination of relaxation and calmness. Not to mention, their bathroom spa shower is something you need to experience! Overall, wonderful experience again....cannot wait to go back in October....as Aruba has quickly become our home away from home!
All I'm going to say is this place and everything about it is TRIPLE-AWESOME! We will be staying here again and definitely getting a suite. I've stayed at the Marriott and it was awesome as well however this is undoubtedly a better bang for you $$
What a great vacation, outstanding staff at the beach, restaurant's, bar, pool.It just doesn't get any better. We had great music on the beach and the pool bar. A special thank you to the folks who took the time and effort to bring some music to the beach. I hope you come back next year.
My wife and I bought our time share on our Honeymoon 9 years ago, and we look forward to returning to Aruba on our Anniversary each and every year. There are many places that we enjoy, and return to, but at the Divi Phoenix, it's really is like going home to vacation. The Phoenix itself is stunning, always sparklingly clean, but as beautiful as the complex is, it's the staff that makes the Phoenix the destination that it is. Even with the amount of guests that they see every year, we are always welcomed home, by name, from the staff members we see every year. We can't say enough good things about Vallerie, Michelle, Pearl, Tamara, our bartender extraordinare Jude, and of course, Chido, the General Manager. Having all of these staff members greet you by name every year is amazing. The Phoenix is constantly upgrading every year. When we first started coming to Aruba, WiFi and internet access was sketchy at best. This year, every single room at the Divi Phoenix has it's own router for flawless internet connection, so I could check in on my business with ease, much to my wife's delight. One thing this year that was far from ordinary was a couple that kept complaining to the Divi management about a group of vacationers who were playing music on the beach, imagine that, - music on the beach, because the wife wanted to "read her book." Seriously???? Not only did this husband and wife team constantly complain to the management of the Phoenix who have no control over the public beach, they kept confronting the vacationers who were playing the music, and they actually called the police, which was hysterically funny, since despite the police telling them that the music was perfectly legal - (and a nice mix of music) - if they kept harassing the vacationers about their music, they were going to be the ones getting in trouble. I will never understand how some people are just determined to ruin their vacation over something that every other person on the beach was enjoying.Despite those knuckleheads, the week was still absolutely perfect, the Divi Phoenix was as beautiful as ever, the weather was gorgeous, and we had a wonderful anniversary. There are so many great venues within walking, or a very short cab ride away, that Divi is in the perfect spot for your vacation.
The Good: Our honeymoon was wonderful. The resort is located at the end of the row of hotels so it's much quieter than the rest of the hotel strip. It's an easy walk to restaurants and there is a path along the beach that connects all of the hotels. Seemed like an older crowd but we didn't mind because we were looking for something peaceful. It's nice that the pool bar is open late. The room was nice, well appointed with a full kitchen, nice appliances, and bath had a jacuzzi tub, the only thing is that the bathroom didn't have a fan and they majorly conserve water which led to some very unromantic smells coming from the commode. If you're 60+ I would recommend not getting this type of bath as it's a very deep tub and could be hard for older folks to get in and out. There are a few places to eat, there's a coffee/deli/ice cream shop on the first floor, fine dining place right next door. Gift shop has everything you need. Beach was nice, clean, quiet, and there are break walls so the waves aren't too bad. Balconies are private and in the tower everyone has an ocean view. We rented a car and it was easy to get around. If you don't rent a car though, I'd suggest staying at the hilton or holiday inn, so that it's easier to walk everywhere. My husband loved the jacuzzi but also agreed that the staff wasn't very friendly at all.Now the Bad- Staff was crappy from the front desk to the deli and bar. Not once did anyone say have a nice day or try to chat us up about where we were from which was surprising because all of the restaurants outside the hotel and tour groups were awesome. The front desk person seemed depressed, quiet, like she absolutely hated her life. Deli girl seemed like she hated her life. Our two free welcome beverages were for rum punch only, we couldn't pick, and once we showed those at the bar, the bartender lady gave us the cold shoulder. It was our first time at the bar and she kept ignoring us for the folks who were drinking heavily. Maybe they thought since we're so young were obviously not time share owners, as most are older, but still, this trip was a gift and we deserve to be treated with respect. What the heck happened to "One Happy Island"?- They were down to one elevator in the tower the entire time. The entire resort didn't seem too busy, in fact one of our tour guides said it was the start of their slow season. I'm sorry but upgrade the folks in the tower to a different room in the lower villas. While we are young able bodied folks, some of the older people really struggled going up and down stairs. At one point, both elevators broke. Elevator is incredibly small in the tower and can only hold 4 people comfortably. A well seasoned couple said they had been going there for 20 years and the elevators have always sucked. Seriously, if that is your number 1 complaint then fix it! - On our last day we had a noon check out, by 10:30am they had locked us out of our room.
