Very typical of "low-rise" resorts in Aruba

This review is for the Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort. (The Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort is a separate property.)I used a friend's timeshare unit that was recently renovated. Thus, I cannot fairly judge the rooms that have not been renovated, so will focus on the property. The plus side: there are onsite "shuttles" (glorified golf carts) that will take you to the beach, the casino, the bus stop (for those adventurous enough to wander into town using public transportation..I went three times,) and to your room...it's a fairly large resort. There are four on-site restaurants, a bar, and a store that sells everything from laundry detergent to wine to rum to potato chips to other essentials...not cheap but really convenient. There is a tennis court, four pools and The Links, which is a 9-hole golf course. Across the street is another resort that has some additional shops if you want souvenirs but don't want to wander too far to buy them. The negative side: walls are VERY thin! I could clearly hear a woman tell her spouse to get up because the bus was due at 6:00! If you are a light sleeper, the thin walls will be annoying. The food in the restaurants range from mediocre to downright bland. There are two levels of "housekeeping" 1) without an additional daily charge, housekeeping will replace the towels; 2) For an extra daily charge, they will come and replace the towels and make the bed! Taxis are plentiful, the bellmen (no women serve in these positions) are helpful, but seem to focus on arriving/departing guests that look wealthy. They seemed to ignore families with children and single people. I watched two bellmen attend to one guest while ignoring me completely. I arrived at 11:30 a.m. knowing that I would likely have to wait until my room was ready, sometime around 4. I was offered a pager that was supposed to flash when my room was ready. Unfortunately, I made three trips to the front desk before I got my room key, at 4:35 p.m.-- and the pager NEVER flashed. The front desk crew was not busy so I am puzzled as to why nobody kept me informed about the room, and nobody apologized or explained about the wait. Finally, you WILL be "invited" to attend a "presentation" AKA time-share selling. I went, got my free t-shirt and other goodies, but I was not sucked into the high pressure selling--and the sales people are so good they could sell ice to Antartica penguins!

We have been coming to Divi village for 22 years, every year. Started with one week and up to 4. It is a timeshare and points. The weather is perfect this time of year. Jan/Feb. prime time. Has everything you need and you can go anywhere on Island. Safe. 4 pools, tennis courts 5 places to eat. Heaven on earth .

Honeymoon in Aruba, at the DIVI Village resort

My wife are I are just back from our honeymoon in Aruba staying at the Divi village. The main criteria I used when picking a resort was the availability of water sport items, specifically the catamarans. We both love to sail and picked DIVI primarily due to the availability of catamarans. During our 7 day stay from Jan 6th thru the 13th of the 2 catamarans only 1 was in working condition for 1 day. I feel that is inexcusable. With 2 boats, at least one should be in working condition at all times. I brought this issue up at the front desk on the 8th or 9th. The next day I saw someone who looked to be in charge talking to the individuals working in water sports area. It appeared a lot of attention was paid to one of the broken boats. Later that day I talked to an individual who works in water sports he assured me the boat would be repaired and working the next day. Not only did that not happen but the general attitude seems to be “we don’t care”. At one point this same individual took the rescue boat out for a pleasure spin, when he return he laid in the boat for an afternoon nap for about an hour. Neither catamaran was ever fixed and our plans of sailing never had a chance. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. If we ever come back to Aruba you can rest assured we will not be staying at Divi. Other than that huge disappointment the facility was very nice.John
