Me and my wife we got married in our beautiful island st kitts and decided to visit another beautiful island which is Aruba we decided to stay at the mill resort because It seemed affordable as well as It seemed like a place we would have a Good time so we book for a week and the week was very wonderful the service of the employees was above and beyond It may Not be the Hilton but the service was great staff was very helpful even though spoke Spanish and didnt quite understand us the still made sure we got assistance the room service was wonderful the air condition in the room was very well as well and the pool was awesome as well as the view of the hotel we had from our room we had a lovely time and in the future when we are to visit Aruba we will choose the mill resort
Hurricane Matthew caused a backlog at the airport and we wound up spending an extra night in Aruba. We booked online because it was $40 cheaper than the walk in rate. We had a 2nd floor room. It was clean and spacious. The bed was hard with a memory foam topper. we did not notice that the room had no towels or washcloths until in the morning when we went to take a shower. They brought up 2 towels and we had to call down again and ask for wash cloths. So they had to come back again. If we ate in the restaurant, they will deduct $25 off of your bill if you charge it to your room. The restaurant was offering all u can eat pasta but we ate off of the menu. The red snapper fillets in creole sauce were delicious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They found me an herbal tea bag that was delicious. The next morning before we checked out, we stepped out onto our balcony and spotted an iguana on the pool. I took videos of him walking along the pool. I was amazed that it did not bother anyone and no one bothered him.
The room was adequate. Housekeeping was poor. There were no pillow covers on the pillows until I spoke to management. The counter tops, sinks and table were not cleaned unless we asked the office to instruct the housekeeper to come back and clean. We had to ask for clean towels and shampoo more than once. Complimentary coffee was provided for one day only but no one bothered to let us know. We bought our own coffee on the second day, which was fine, but no one told us in advance that coffee would not be provided after the first day. The concierge was pleasant but only knew how to sell excursions (some of which we purchased). He could not provide basic information about sights or directions other than what was offered for sale. For example, he could show us on his map where to find the tourist trap natural bridge but never mentioned that there was a larger, more scenic and closer natural bridge near the lighthouse. We asked about sights we had found on the internet but the concierge could not tell us anything about those sights. Neither the concierge nor the front desk would offer helpful information like parking in Orjanestad had to be paid in local money so take florins with you when you plan to go into the town. Finally, the maps were impossible to follow. There were few street names or markers to follow. The bartender was nice but political. The walls between rooms were paper thin and we could hear everything said in the next room. When we asked to move rooms because our neighbors were loud, we were told that we would have to complain three times to security before anything would be done. We did not complain again. We just lived with neighbors who came in at 2:00 a.m. and turned on the TV and talked loudly until 4:00. We were in a room very far from the front desk and our key cards would not work. We had to go back to the office on many occasions to have them reactivated. I should add that we were always polite and professional when we requested anything. The staff just lacked direction and training. There was a kid's club but it was never open. There was parking but it was very limited and we often had to park in out of the way spots which were not designated for parking. The last few days, we had to contend with the smell of raw sewage around our room.
Just back from 2 nights and I'm happy to share our experience at the Mill. Hotel was easy for the taxi to find, and it is within minutes of the developed areas of Aruba. Check in was quick and smooth, but nobody to show you to your room- "it's over that way". We found the room large and comfortable, bed was fine and it had a small jacuzzi tub that worked as it should. TV (all American channels like everywhere in Aruba), Good A/C, good water pressure and good hot water. Safe, iron and board. Minibar but useless as it had nothing in it to consume. Pool looked nice but we didn´t have tome to use it. Poor bar quick service for overpriced drinks. My only negatives about this hotel would be: room noise, walls are too thin, rooms to close, way too many noises. 2nd night party somewhere nearby and people talking too loud and hollering into the night. We only used the restaurant for breakfast one time, average buffett and way over priced. The prices of the rooms is fair, as all the big hotels are WAY over priced. Lots of talk about this Diana's pancake house in front of the hotel- for me it was useless, what they serve are basically crepes with different toppings, I would call it a dessert rather than a real breakfast. What kind of restaurant doesn´t offer eggs for breakfast? Ahh and 10us for a thin little crepe with chocolate sauce seems like a rip off to me. I would stay at this hotel again, good overall value as everything is Aruba costs 2x what it is worth.
Cheap, explains a lot. Not the best location, not the best beach access, did not like being around the all inclusive hotels, very rude people, beds were not comfortable, room was adequate. Pool was good, did not eat there so don't know much about the quality. Dianas pancakes is close which is fabulous. Just no atmosphere with staff, although they were ok, just no interaction. For the price it was acceptable. We paid next to nothing and got nothing. so I am not saying don't stay here, if you want to see aruba and are strapped for cash this is a great way to do it.
