Friendly Staff / Great location / Good food

We normally stay in the Eagle Beach area when we travel to Aruba. We almost didn't go this year because of stuff that came up unexpectedly, so our trip was booked last minute. The Mill is located near the other Hi-rise resorts, just walking distance from the shops and beach. The staff was very friendly, it did appear at times they were understaffed, this was more then made up for by their helpfulness. While on vacation, I expect to have to wait my turn when things are busy. The BBQ buffet was awesome, breakfast was hearty, the drinks from the bar were spot on! some of the best I have had in Aruba! The Pool was clean and the "wildlife" was survivable. It was no noisier than any other resort I have stayed at. We live way out in the country, so trust me, it doesn't take much noise to wake or keep me up. Slept very well. Our room was a little tired and dated, however we were informed that the updating of rooms was underway.

We had great time!

Prior to going I was reading all the recent reviews and felted bummed by all the negative comments of this resort. However, after my stay, I have to say I enjoyed my stay very much! The rooms were clean, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were modern and clean, and my favorite were the strong hot showers. My kids had a great time at the pool and the location of the hotel was close to everywhere we wanted to go; 20 minutes drive from airport, 5 minutes drive to superfood, 8 minutes drive to palm beach, 15 minute drive to aloe museum, about 15-20 minutes drive to the lighthouse/arashi beach. Those of you staying there in the near future... have a great time and enjoy The Mills.

Great staff makes up for some minor issues

ProsThe staff was friendly and helpful. Some only spoke the native language, but even then they would try to help you. My son got sick on the plane and we called upon arrival if we could check in earlier. The staff helped us to the room and we could do all the paperwork afterwards. They even lent us a wheelchair, because he was a little weak to walk during our vacation. The staff would also ask us from time to time how it he was doing, which we really appreciated.ConsThe housekeeping could improve some. The bathroom is very very small. I'm not a large person but while showering the shower curtain would "touch" me every time, which I don't like. Couldn't get the AC at the right temperature and would have to turn it of and on (so I wouldn't freeze or overheat)The hotel is wheelchair accessible but requires some strength and noise cancellation walking on the wood with small spaces between them.

Almost a Disasterous anniversary! We made the best of IT.

So my husband and I wanted to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary in Aruba. He made sure that we were going to have the best time of our lives. So let me begin. When we arrived at the Mill staff was somewhat annoyed in taking care of the customers. It was early afternoon, and there was only 1 attendant at the time in the front desk. Secondly, once we received our room, it was in HORRIBLE shape. Extensive mildew smell wreaked havoc despite having the AC unit running all night. The room itself looked like it was lost in 1960's/70's d├ęcor. Nothing upgraded, dorm size refrigerator and hardly any soap/lotion available. The final straw that broke the camels back was the Iguana's outside of our patio that happened to surround my husband and I while we were sitting on the patio and I got attacked (rat tailed) by one of the iguana's. That experience finally made my husband decide to move to another room, and Oh by the way we had to pay for an upgrade! Which was the room we initially thought we reserved. The pros to this vacation: was that its not a crowded hotel, its low rise, very nice swimming pool but I can do without the iguanas taking over the place. And walking distance to the beach, but thank goodness for the shuttle to and from the hotel. Nelson the bartender was Great! Very pleasant gentleman, and The cons to this vacation: FALSE advertisement on the rooms on the internet, poor customer service reps. Especially the gal that works the overnight shift. Very rude and disrespectful. We made our own food, because dining out can be very EXPENSIVE. As well as car fare....All in all the island itself is very beautiful, wonderful beaches, and atmosphere. We've been around the Caribbean. I'm pretty sure we'll visit other islands.Cab fare
