Club Peace and Plenty
- What's Included
Hey guys, I highly recommend Club Peace & Plenty if you are staying in or near George Town Exuma. Now I am used to the Hilton, Intercontinental etc how ever when you are visiting Exuma islands you want to get a taste of Island life.Rooms: The rooms are spacious and clean. The vibe is "beach house" as expected. Bright vibrant colours to up your mood. The mattresses are ok but sleepable. The rooms are cool with a fan and air conditioning. There are no bed bugs!! Which was my main concern. The bathroom is nice. It's clean! The shower curtain is also clean with no mould.Ladies the hair dryers is a great little powerful dryer! Location: The location is in George Town. Next to the local shops and restaurants, cafes etc. It is a 2min walk to the docks where you can catch a 5min water taxi ride to Stocking Island.Next door to the pretty pink Police station.15 mins from Sandals.40mins to Barraterre docks. The locals all know this hotel. Staff: I can not fault the beautiful staff at the Peace & plenty. The team here were so friendly and welcoming they made you feel right at home. Honestly best staff I have come across. Price: $$ this hotel is not a resort but it was worth every dollar. It's not expensive and considering we stayed over the Easter period. This is worth your money.Over all: This is not a resort guys but what an unreal way to experience the real Exuma. With breath taking views, fantastic staff and quaint facilities. One of the original hotels on the island full of history, put your 5 star life behind and enjoy island life.
First the high points. Beautiful historic hotel with large lovely rooms centrally located in George Town. Small fridges and coffee makers provided. Restaurant was quaint and the food was good. Now the low points. I was there with a group of 8 and at our first meal at the restaurant, we discovered that they had added a huge tip/surcharge to each of our bills. We were fine with the stated 15% but there were $9 tips added to $20 bills. The server was quick to fix it once we drew it to her attention. Thursday night BBQ and band was wonderful, a lot of fun and reasonably priced. The downside was a bartender told my father the Bahamian dollar was only worth half the US dollar when my dad gave him a tip in Bahamian dollars. Fyi they are on par. Lastly, we were there for 3 nights and the pool was murky and algae filled when we arrived. I politely drew this to the attention of the front desk staff 3 times over the first 2 days and even told them one of our guys was willing to clean it if they gave him the tools. Finally, I spoke to the manager Charles early evening on the 2nd day and he was gracious and attentive and we had a clean pool for our third day.
We stayed here on the first and last nights of our visit to the Exumas. In between we were on a cat charter going up the island chain to Staniel Cay. The location in central George Town is ideal - it's a 5 minute walk to Government Dock and the water taxi to Stocking Island (Chat n Chill). The hotel is a good size (not large) and the staff know everyone on the island and can address most needs/questions. The rooms are standard hotel rooms with good AC and nice views of Elizabeth Harbor. There are two bars, but the poolside one may be dedicated to the Thursday night BBQ. The inside one just off the pool has a lot of cool historical artifacts and is very quaint. Best wifi is poolside or in the lobby. Did not eat at the hotel restaurant due to our schedule, but it had a fair number of customers for breakfast. All in all a comforting place without the annoyance of the large resorts and the downtown location is great.
Fantastic experience the second time around, Great staff, friendly and very helpful, spent three weeks in total from Boxing day through New year 2016/2017 enjoyed every moment, as we did the first time. The rooms are excellent, and very comfortable great place to stay for couples, families or solo's.
Just came back from a 2 weeks summer relaxation.Amazing place where locals and tourists comes together to have a nice time. It's a very historical, unique and charming hotel.Staff attentive to any guest needs.I would highly recommend as a wonderful place to relax and refresh.Definitely coming back soon.
