The Melia Nassau Beach Resort is located on a beautiful stretch of white sand on spectacular Cable Beach, featuring a seven acre waterscape with several swimming areas, waterfalls and jacuzzis amongst lush tropical foliage. The resort is adjacent to one of the Caribbean's largest casinos.

Location: Directly on Cable Beach, 15 min drive to downtown Nassau or the airport.

Great time

We spent a week here in December, really good relaxed atmosphere. The beach is great, we seen numerous types of fish and rays while snorkeling right at the reef in front of the beach.Rinnon and Cedric at the level made sure we were well taken care of and the one bartender made the ladies the best Pink Sand and mudslide drinks they have ever had.We only had one problem when we were here, they were doing renovations and our room had a really strong smell of floor glue in it, we reported it and they came right away and confirmed, moved us to a different room. It was our third time here and it seems to be getting better every time. Our tour provider asked for a room upgrade for us as it was our third time there but we didn't get it which was a little disappointing as it wasn't really that busy.

I'm trying to be objective here

Reading previous reviews I was both excited and nervous; a lot of bashing about the condition of the place, those people didn't quite know that this was a Sheraton property and is being renovated constantly. Even newer properties, i.e. Atlantis has rust in places, it's the Bahamas.Upon arrival, everything was smooth, lobby was awesome, clean etc. Our room wasn't ready yet so we opted for a ground floor pool view. Yes, the hallway carpet does need work but it would be the last thing I worried about too if this were my hotel. The rooms were clean, yes, the "fully stocked" mini-bar was stocked with a few cokes, 2 beers and chips, oh well, it was expected. The bed was very comfortable but be warned, they're platform beds and the corners tend to jump out and bite your knees, duly noted.Now we didn't get the "level" package, just the normal AI, this was my first one. All the restaurants were booked and the buffet was closed due to a broken pipe, so we ate again a O Grill. Yah, I'll forewarn you, stay away from the burger or quesadilla. One of the nights there was a Bahamian themed night and dinner was served out at the O Grill, not too sure what we ate but the braised short ribs were all fat and bone soooooo no. We did get to eat at Cilantro which was a pleasant surprise. Service was awesome, food great, drinks plentiful, the following night we ate at Aqua, Italian food in the Bahamas not a great idea, way too salty.It is true if you opt for just the AI, not all menu items are available unless you pay for them, okay, just know that. Overall, the staff at the restaurants indoor, the pool bar and service was great. I recommend the Tapas after 5pm, that was a welcome retreat. The pool area is clean, the beach sand is Florida soft and at least for us, was very clean too. I believe this property is on its way to being a great place, just not quite there yet.

Not likely to return

Beautiful beach and property, but isolated. Not close to shopping, nothing within walking distance, etc. This resort has over 700 rooms, but never more than 2 people at the front desk. As you can imagine check in/out is VERY slow, plan on wasting 2 hours of your first and last day to check in/out. Phone in my room didn't work, reported it 3 times no one ever attempted to fix it. Room service is included, but tough to order without a phone. One night we wanted room service, so I had to go down to the front desk to order since our phone didn't work, it rang over 20 times and no answer. I let the person at the front desk know that they didn't answer and asked what to do, she dismissed me with "have a good night sir" then turned her back and walked away. We lost power to the room one night and couldn't call to report it because our phone didn't work. Had to dress and go to the front desk to report it. Every day housekeeping would take all of the towels and then forget to replace 1/2 of them, we would have towels but no wash cloths or wash cloths and no towels. Mini bar also included in package, however ours was empty when we checked in and remained empty for our entire stay, as we were packing to leave they finally came to stock it. 3 of the restaurants require reservations, but are never more than 1/2 full. We didn't eat at O'Grill until the last day because the hostess told us it was for Level members only. I'm not sure if these things are a tactic to save money by limiting access to items that are supposed to be included, or if the property is just that poorly managed. On our first day we noticed a pizza box and empty beer cans in the stairwell, we checked out this morning and they are still there. On 3 separate occasions staff discouraged us from leaving the resort by asking us why we wanted to go to town, then told us that everything was closed. We finally ignored them and took a taxi into town and learned that we missed the Christmas parade and celebration and that everything was open and had been open. I'm guessing they didn't want us to spend money anywhere other than at the resort. I don't think I would stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel. The location was beautiful with a very nice beach, The staff was very pleasant as well. I would like to see them improve the quality of the food at lunch and dinner. If your culinary needs are simple I would definitely check it out.

Not a star more than 3!!

Stayed for 2 nites though wish I had booked for 1 as was not able to get refund for second night when we wanted to leave. The food at this resort all tastes the same. The place where I had most problems with was The Market Place. The service was very poor. A lady sits at the door and grunts to you ..HOW MANY? when you enter and than says ...wait. Thats all... just wait. When we asked to sit outside in the dinning area that is part of the market place she looked at me like I was crazy and said no. As we like to come to an island sit outside....Also the eating area around the pool service was very slow. All the tables around us that were sat after us were served first. Then 12-15 pigeons landed on the table beside us and ate the left overs for about 15 min ...kept coming back and forth...flying in and around us and the staff did nothing. The rooms need updating carpet is torn and the Balcony had an old metal type kitchen chair nothing else. If you sit on the chair all you can see is the high cement balcony wall in front of you no view of the beach unless you stand. The balcony was concave so there was always a pool of water in the middle. There is smoking all over and very often I could smell marijuana when I was on my balcony.
