We arranged for a car service to take us to The Ocean Club from the airport. The drive up to the small hotel was lovely with beautiful plantings. When we arrived at the hotel, we walked in and immediately admired the art in the common area. There was a bar, three seating areas, a baby grand piano, and a view of the lawn and water.We were told that we would have a welcome lemonade when we arrived, but nobody ever gave us any.Each couple in our party had access to a butler 24/7. That sounded wonderful. The first butler assigned to us took us via golf cart to our room. He didn’t explain much, and when I asked for a coffee maker to be brought to the room, he said he would take care of the request right away.After the second day with no coffee maker, I asked a lady what I should expect with this butler service. She was very apologetic and said she would take care of the issues we had in the room. She never followed up to see that the standards were met.These are a few of the things we experienced during our stay at this very expensive resort:One evening we had to call for wash cloths.Menus were not consistently left in the room to order breakfasts.Once the coffee maker was brought to the room, the used coffee cups were taken and not replaced.Some nights we had no turndown service or champagne and strawberry delivery. When service was provided we got two bottles of water.The butler service was not consistent. We had three butlers in a five day stay.The trash in our room was not removed for two days.Our television lost the signal, and when someone came to repair it, many of the channels we had watched were no longer available.The food and drinks were very expensive. The $20 glass of wine was $17 in the states for an entire bottle. They were charging $100 a bottle. The rooms were in need of a remodel and the outdoor lawn furniture was dated too. The spa was located in the main building unlike some of the rooms. It was easy to schedule a service, but there was no common relaxation room to use before or after the service. We were told to wrap a towel around us rather than wearing a special garment most spas provide. There was also a push to buy products used in the treatment.Most high end hotels provide a listing of the next day’s daily activities. Not this place. For what we paid, the level of service and the accommodations should have been much better. Our group felt that booking this location was a mistake since others in our party experienced most of the same shortcuts that we did.
Sadly did not live up to expectations. From booking, to arrival, to stay, right through to leaving. Resolved with Management after our visit. However not the outcome we wanted. Rather be posting a positive review. 😢
Changed from one and only to four seasons mid way through our stay so a few hiccups but the room was lovely beach lovely and staff very attentive it was a nice 4 night break after crossing Atlantic on queen Mary 2 to New York easy hop over to bahamas. Clearing us immigration in Bahamas for the Return is a real asset and the airport staf so helpful and happy for immigration department on arrival and departures!Food at hotel quite expensive but good quality the lobster burger at lunch was amazing.
This is simply one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Up there with the best of them for sure. The food, the rooms, the service. All spot on and befitting of the perfect location. When I retire I’d like to move in! By the way, the artist who did the paintings in the lobby lives locally. I went and bought one of her paintings. Beautiful.
We booked this trip for my 40th birthday back in September 2017. When we booked this trip it was a One and Oy Resort. My friend flew all the way over from Germany for this celebration. Upon checking in we were given our room that we had upgraded to an ocean view. The room was fantastic. The bell boy told us our butler would be over to explain to us the amenities in the room. Butler never arrived, ever. The following day we tracked down a housekeeper to explain to us how to use the coffee machine. We went out to the pool for the day to return to our room and order room service. The room service menu was gone, the phone was gone, anything with the One and Only logo on it was gone. Apparently as luck would have it the hotel changed ownership on the second day of our stay. Not one person mentioned this at booking or checking in. It was only after listening to other people at the pool did I learn that there was a nightly champagne / chocolate strawberry service by the butler, water bottles were in each room and robes. We had NONE of these. We learned the hard way that drinking the tap water wasn’t a good idea. ( so sick we got by day 3) I booked a manicure at the spa and was told it would take too long and they could paint over my existing polish for $40! I left a sweater there and have been trying to get it back since the moment I left the hotel. No one ever gets back to me. It’s infuriating knowing we booked a one and only resort which turned into a four seasons and no one told us, the staff was just as confused. The service was horrendous. 45 minutes to get lunch at an empty restaurant. Oh I failed to mention the $45 mimosas. FORTY FIVE DOLLARS FOR ONE BADLY MADE DRINK. Awful. I want a do over.
