Accra Beach Hotel
- What's Included
Location: 20 minutes from Grantley Adams International Airport and 10 minutes to Bridgetown.
stayed here for 3 days before going to St Vincent. I enjoyed it so much I ended up leaving st Vincent and coming back to this hotel. hotel is a bit dated but for the price I think its value for money. the newer part of the hotel is really nice, I was upgraded to ocean view suite which was amazing. never ate their as I thought it was extremely expensive however the restaurant are plentiful in the area. The beach is beautiful but be careful of the waves as they nearly took me out one afternoon. st Lawrence gap is a $2 bus ride away which is convenient also. I would happily come back here.
Check in was slow and room was not ready at 4.30 pm. Staff not very warm and welcoming and did not preauthorize credit card for meals and other charges. Hence next morning I could not charge breakfast to my room. That was very embarrassing and took 15 minutes to fix.
The hotel is situated in an area convenient to all. Lots of amenities around and is very easily accessible. The Rooms are just contemporary and quite comfortable. The pools are very inviting. Only thing if you're going as a couple the pool area is a general area which doesn't offer much privacy if that's what you're looking for as well! I ordered room service breakfast and was great!!! Generally the hotel is ideal for families with children or groups.
We booked Accra trough a JetBlue vacation package and I was a little hesitiant since the reviews on here were mixed. But it turned our great! I was expecting an older hotel, not a a brand new 5-star Sandals...so make sure your expectations are on par. The room was spacious, clean and inviting. We arrived early around 11:30am and they let us check in right away. Jamal gave us the best advice all weekend long, including where to go see the turtles if you don't want to spend money on a catamaran tour, the best spots for local food and places to stop when you're driving around the island. He is fantastic and always had a smile on his face. One night we were having a nightcap at the bar by the beach, and Dwight from Pacifica went above and beyond our expectations. The night was so beautiful that we didn't want to spend it indoors, so he delivered our dinner to the beach side bar! Give Accra a shot. Its more reasonable than any other hotel I found on the island.
Walk out back to the lively waves, umbrellas and white sand. This resort-style hotel has that relaxed island feel and decent food. You can walk to local stores, or catch a "ZR" (local mini-bus that stops anywhere) to Bridgetown for $1US a head. Our room was large, comfortable and ocean view. At the bell desk, Jamal is great, he took the initiative and arranged a reservation and taxi for us that worked out perfectly for a special occasion. Thanks so much! Two things to bear in mind, from our experience: 1. The check-in is 3 pm, and they really mean it. If you are coming or going from a cruise you can end-up sitting most of the day in the lobby. Take your swim suit, and personal bits in a bag you can carry by hand. 2. Barbados isn't cheap. Neither is the Accra. That's just the way it is.
