Coconut Court Beach Hotel
- What's Included
Just arrived home after 2 weeks in sunny Barbados. What a time we had, smashing. The Coconut is a great place with such friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.Nice big bed room with lovely firm beds, housekeeping spot on everyday. Big bathroom with good size shower with plenty of hot water. (i used cold most of the time just to cool down). Hotel on the bus route so was easy to get about. There are two bars and a shop on site, a restaurant on site and partner bar/eatery across the road.Beach very nice with plenty of loungers, sea lovely and there is a row of rocks placed a hundred yards out to break up any waves so it is very calm behind. Managers rum punch party every Monday with free punch for an hour ! There is also a band or singer on quite often on the little stage of an evening and Sunday night film on the beach....In summary a lovely family run place in a very good position where the staff are an asset.
The hotel overall was ok, but sadly, there were some negative points:* The hair dryer caused the circuit to blow repeatedly, which one could not be fixed quickly and we had to move rooms as most electric supplies had been affected.* The showers depicted on booking.com do not represent the showers in the standard rooms, which are very small in general with only a tiny shower head (the nice bathrooms shown on booking.com had been one of the reason why we chose this hotel).* For almost all days of our 7 day stay we had no warm water, even though we raised this with the reception couple of times (more guest had the same issue as we could overhear at the reception).Staff at the hotel were friendly and tried to help as much as possible, even though their response time was sometimes a bit slow (for instance, it took them more than 3 hours to pass on a message for a tour, we received the confirmation at 9pm for a tour the day after, even though it had already been confirmed around 5:30pm as we found out later). We can highly recommend the half day island tour with barefoot Ted! He is a genuinely funny and helpful guy who gives a very nice tour across the island. As mentioned at the beginning, the hotel is ok, but do not expect too much physical facilities.
We stayed here for 2 weeks in September. The free shuttle from the airport was easy to arrange and the trip was pleasant. First impressions of the hotel were good. A pleasant check in with a warm welcome. We had a Superior Ocean Front Room, and personally I think it was well worth the money. A clean, spacious room lovely big balcony overlooking the pool and the beach. Room only, we had a fridge, a microwave, toaster and a kettle. The room has great air con that is easy to use, unlike some places we have been to before. There is also a safe in the wardrobe that is included in the price.Throughout the hotel the staff are professional and really nice so I won't single out any individuals, tempting as it is. Snacks available throughout the day, loved the fish cakes. There are loads of happy hours throughout the day so if you want to you can time your drinks to get the best deals. The beach is a turtle sanctuary area so there is a little seaweed on the sand that I don't think they can rake away, no real issue though because they do clear a few paths to the sea. Oh and when you see the turtles please don't try to swim with them, these turtles are not used to people and you will only scare them away. Pay for an excursion where you can do this!Location is OK but this is a fairly quiet area so apart from The Blue Room, which you can charge to your room bill, and a couple of places on the boardwalk, there are not too many places to go to in the evening. This actually suited us.The only gripe I had was that we went for the Sunday Roast Dinner and expected what was on the picture, this is not what you get. If we had actually taken the time to read the menu we wouldn't have expected roast meat with 3 veg and Yorkshire puddings. The picture is a little misleading.Overall, if you are looking for a quiet beach location then the Coconut Court could be just what you are looking for. I can see why they have so many repeat visitors.
The coconut court is a mid range hotel geared more to budget holidays than business trips. It’s clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location on worthing beach, however, it is relatively expensive if booking privately and lots of rooms are not overlooking the beach.
We went in August for 1 week. On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded to a deluxe room and it was very nice. The staff at reception are lovely and very helpful. The rooms have everything you would need and are kept spotlessly clean. The breakfast which was free with the room was good. Each morning there was a choice of fresh fruit and juices and cereals and toast with preserves etc. The restaurant was lovely and we ate there a few nights and lunches. The beach is idyllic and one night we even saw a turtle come up and lay her eggs. There were plenty of sun loungers to go round and the sea was suitable for swimming at low tide as there is a small lagoon. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
