Coconut Court Beach Hotel
- What's Included
Never done this before but here it goes (will be long). King room - bed is two doubles joined together - hard - like sleeping on floor. When arrive they give you one beach towel, tell you to use it for entire stay, if you want to change it (and you will) it cost you $5. We had no water for 5 of our 9 days. They give you 2 water bottles and a bucket of water to flush your toilet. We had 2 muggings on our beach and one police chase. Rented a car for one day - once off main roads people would jump in front of you trying to get you to stop to get money from you. Food so bad we had bread and bananas in room at night. hard to walk on streets in front of hotel streets had little or no sidewalks and people kept asking you to buy drugs or just give them money.
Stayed here for 7 nights at one of the hotel apartments in the Annex building. The apartment was clean, and had all the basic amenities stated on its website (fridge, cooker, toaster, hairdryer etc). Upon arrival, we were met by friendly staff, received a complimentary beach towel during our stay and escorted to our rooms. The was air con in only the bedrooms which worked perfectly fine, and the wifi access is limited to the living room. The hotel had bus stops situated right outside which made it easy to travel around the island.
After reading countless reviews, i chose the coconut court hotel. the hotel is very clean, the rooms were nice, but the beds a little hard. It had a kitchenette mini fridge and microwave, that's very helpful to keep from eating out for every meal, and keep in mind Barbados is expensive if your eating out for every meal.when we arrived our room was upgraded! and since this was a trip for my birthday we were also given a complimentary bottle of their rum punch, which is fantastic by the way. the restaurant onsite has pretty good food and reasonable prices, and also the sports bar across the street. the beach and pool area was kept spotless and the security guard kept you from being bothered while on the beach. i hated that the pool and hot tub closed very early for my liking, and the birds in the trees at night are loud.the road noise can be a bit loud due to the traffic, but it was bearable.we were here when hurricane matthew was in the carribean and we lost power for half a day, but the staff opened the restaurant for the guests since all of the businesses were closed, they did a fantastic job given the weather!outside of the pool/hot tub closing early my biggest complaint was the WiFi..which was awful and really did not function the 5 days that we were there.we tried a few restaurants in the St.Lawrence gap, we went to Dover beach and felt totally safe everywhere we went! you can catch the little white vans called (zr) for 1 dollar and will take you where your headed, they are raggedy and crowded(my lady was on my lap one time) but that's the fun of different cultures and and countries.Barbados is a beautiful island, if your going to visit stay at the coconut court!
We have just returned from our first visit to Barbados, and a wonderful stay at the `Coconut Court beach hotel`. We had a great stay and the most enjoyable time spent there. The hotel staff; from reservation up to GM`s were very attentive, helpful and friendly towards us. The facilities are in good order, the WIFI signal is excellent(even on the beach) and the Manager`s cocktail party on Monday is not to be missed!! Location was a plus point for us, within walking distance to other bars/restaurants and nightlife and also shopping centers. Also remember to pay Merle a visit at the hotel`s lobby gift shop (warmest person we`ve ever met). And while your at it, book your tours with Vaida (activities desk, very helpful), do take Ted`s tour, you will not regret it. Also pay a visit to Harrison`s cave (magnificent wonder of the world). And in closing I would like to mention that with people like: Gia/Keshia/Leonard/Tyrone/Joel/Margot/Arcene/Anette/Antonio/Merle/Vaida/Ted/Lance/Mark/Donna and Sonia we will definitely return to Barbados and stay at the ``Coconut Court beach hotel``!!!!
I will not delve too long on the pros and the cons of this hotel, suffice to say I will not visit it again. Why you may ask...Well, for me the presence of water in the rooms so as to wash and etc is paramount to a hotel stay especially in a hot & humid climate as in the Caribbean. In general, the overall stay from June 6th until 5pm on Sunday 11th June was relatively acceptable.Unfortunately due to a mains water burst pipe in the area, water was not sufficiently pressurised enough to scale up to the top floor, where unfortunately I was staying.Staff were providing info re this failure to the whole area, where in fact this was not entirety true as the hotel apposite ( Marriott by the courtyard ) had absolutely not a problem. Why is that you might ask. Well, the Marriot, like most hotels and indeed homes of majority of people have a water tank! You would've imagined that this establishment would've done the same ( considering the fact that it seems that the area is generally prone to water supply disruption..as was confirmed by staff members of the Blu sports and Mamma Mia's pizzeria both apposite the hotel ) and that they have been around for around for 40 odd years, an investment in this department would've given the hotel an uninterrupted supply of water.Indeed, rooms at the ground level was gratuitously provided for washing facilities...but it still didn't alleviate the fact that one may need to use the facilities in the middle of the morning...I only feel sorry for the elderly clients who somehow had to endure this trauma.Apart from this major disruption, the jacuzzi was emptied, and tile were been removed.and the beach bar was dismantled on Monday the 12th June.Needless to say, hammer drills, along with metal grinders/cutters,etc was not mentioned as part of the renovation works on their website.Usuage of the swimming pool was not enjoyable or peaceful due to the noisy works. How long these will be off the menu is anyone's quess! Some of the staff were exceptionally professional with a few been unattentive. I commend the efforts made by the duty manager,Mr Maurice who was extremely helpful in my hour of need.Sadly one cannot say the same about the owners (Blades) who seemed to be more concerned about the rebuilding works of the beach bar than trying to sort the water issue.one positive note, very good Wi-Fi all over the compound.Overall and due to this water fault , I decided to to leave the hotel, and thru Mr Maurices' assistance booked in at the Radisson, further up the road, to continue on my vacation .My advice to the Blades ....invest in water tank and positioned at the top of the building ! Simple ! No doubt, they will now respond to this review negatively..
