Coconut Court Beach Hotel
- What's Included
We had the standard room in the hotel. Be prepared, these rooms are dated and are not decorated nicely, but that is all right. Also our room was big and bright. The bed was huge and nice, the room had a refrigerator, toaster and a mini oven and of course a kettle. These are a huge plus as we could prepare and store more meals. Every room faces the sea and have a balcony which is also quite nice.Though there were a few minor problems with the room. The wifi signal wasn’t really strong in the middle of the room, where the bed is. But in the corners of the room and on the balcony it worked perfectly. Also, because the rooms look at the ocean, the doors are open to the a very busy road. The problem is the room is not soundproofed and late at night it can be an issue. We had no problem fell asleep but bad sleepers may struggle. The staff, reception and services were excellent! The check in and check out are easy and fast, the receptionists all are really nice and helpful and smiling. The airport transfer is nice to have and worked perfectly. The big upside of the hotel is the location! A beautiful beach is right front of it and if you are not satisfied with it, with 15 minutes walk up or down you can find other beaches for your liking. We had the perfect place right before the Hilton. Only a few people around, no rocks at all in the sea and perfect white sand (pics included). The hotel also near to a lot of bars and a little walk (or a few bus stops) away you could find every kind of shops, restaurants etc. The bus stop is also in front of the hotel. We had a good time and seeing other places I wouldn’t have booked elsewhere!
This is a family run, and well run, hotel. While something that has existed as long as this hotel is bound to have some things that detract, on balance there are many positives, especially the outstanding beach. Skip it if you are looking for perfection, but if you want an overall positive experience with the friendly staff, great location, and above par amenities, this is a good choice.
Kept us waiting 90 minutes at the airport for pickup. We booked a ground floor room four months in advance and they put us in a grubby second floor room. Two days later after numerous complaining we got a slightly better room but not worth £220 a night. The wifi did not work half the time. The water was cold two of the nights. The beach lounges were grubby, no staff to assist and no life guard.Only allowed one free beach towel for the beach. No room service. No laundry service. The food in general was of a very poor standard. We loved the people and the beach was very good but these people are taking the Micky!Nardja & Glen Colson.
My wife and I stayed here for one week following our cruise, and we were very pleased we chose it.It isn't perfect, what hotel is, but for the price, especially in Barbados it is ideal with a good balance, friendly. not too stuffy and with some really good things going for it.We chose a superior sea view room and it was large enough to hold a dance in, super balcony with as good a sea view as you could hope for and a beach panorama. It deserves five stars for that. No scramble for sun beds here, loads of them, either by the pool or on the decking or beach itself.Staff friendly and helpful.Nice continental breakfast with fresh fruit salad etc and again no problem seating. We tried a couple of meals at night, they were perhaps a bit hit and miss, my sirloin on our first night was very good, but tenderloin on Valentines night was a bit tough, perhaps I just got a poor one, but no real complaints.Barbeque lunch on one day was very nice.We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return. No hesitation to recommend Eddie and Christina Mcalpine
Stayed at Coconut Court in early February and I think I can summarise the stay like another reviewer with pros and cons.Firstly the pros. The staff were on the whole excellent, friendly and helpful and in the main a credit to the complex. One or two could be surly but that's a bajan thing at times! The beach was wonderful; clean sand, wonderful natural inlet, plenty of sun loungers, great beach bar staff and plenty of happy hours. The Blu Sports Bar which is part of the complex and over the road was a real bonus. Again great friendly staff, reasonable prices, decent happy hours and the food (though typically bar type food) was tasty and perfectly adequate. Now the cons. I confess we were disappointed with our room at first sight. We were "upgraded" from an island view apartment (aka roadside) to an standard room. As others have said, the rooms do need updating and upgrading, they are tired and badly need refurbishment. I haven't seen a television like it for ten years (reminded of an old Bush portable you got from Argos). But you get what you pay for and all in all the room was comfortable and adequate for our needs. The bed was comfortable and the amenities although again basic served their purpose. By the way don't panic if your shower is cold when you first use it. If it is like ours it soon warms up and by the end of your first full day you will be scrambling for the cold tap! The second is the Deck Restaurant. We were wary given the reviews here and are at a number of other places (some recommendations follow) before giving this a try on our last night. All I can say is what a disappointment! We had the buffet curry. Priced at an outrageous $54 per head I had what is fair to say the most ordinary plain meal of the entire holiday. What made it worse is that you were only allowed one trip (like an idiot I didn't check first so had a few things as a taster thinking I would be back - no such luck). Whatever you do, don't have the buffet.Restaurant recommendations, in order of preference. Buzo's Restaurant ( best of the lot in my view - down the road 200m), Naru ( on the boardwalk - you need to like Asian food and learn to use chopsticks for this - don't worry you can get a fork!) Mama Mia ( over the road from the complex - Italian - great food but feels like a cafe) Tapas ( again on the boardwalk) Blakeys ( at the start of the boardwalk- straightforward Bajan food and burgers) Overall, we enjoyed our break by not getting hung up about a few minor things and instead focussing on the great location, wonderful beach and nice people. Now we know what to expect here, we would come back.
