Coconut Court Beach Hotel

I'm an optimist, but will tell the truth if we experienced something other than okay. Warning...frank and honest review ahead. We had so many other great experiences on the island, that we'll just take this as a bad apple in the bunch. We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our 10 day island stay. Our group of 5 was split into 2 hotel rooms. We ended up in the "third class citizens" section and the others ended up in the newly remodeled, modernized, "first class " premium style rooms. We booked the same, so this struck us as odd. Not sure how this ended up. The SNOBBY front desk ladies said they could not put us together. We were even at two opposite ends of the hotel. Even more incredible, we were told they could put us together if we wanted to "pay more" to upgrade. what??? Odd, just odd. Also, there were adds in our sub-par room to "pay to upgrade" to a renovated room. Geez. Upon returning to our room the next day after our island adventures, we had no towels. Okay, so we call the front desk. Laundry is backed up and there won't be any ready for 2 days. In 2 days we would be gone, headed home!!! The kitchen and bathroom did not have proper blinds. It made me afraid to get naked in the bathroom and shower for fear someone walking by in the outside hallway would peep in. Theglass partial see-through wall of the shower is not conducive to staying with anyone other than your significant other. The fridge, A/C, and microwave all worked well. There was a large armoire for clothing, etc. The room was large. Small, nice patio outside. No comforter on the bed (was told none available by the front desk), brought us a "blanket" very thin and worn.No wi-fi (sign at the front desk said they were currently experiencing issues). Our friends (in the renovated room) had no trouble. We had no wi-fi. Other people at the resort we talked to, that have stayed here multiple times (why would you come back??) said this is the standard happening for this place. We ate lunch at the pool side restaurant on our arrival day. The food was just okay, and to get any service at all we had to keep flagging down a waitress, who was very busy with the fine diners at the restaurant next door.It doesn't end there. Several weeks after our return home we noticed the Coconut Court started randomly charging our credit card. I immediately called my friend who had no idea, but checked and was experiencing the same thing!! We both called the hotel, who was not initially responsive or helpful, to say the least. We both put disputes on our credit cards and we were both able to get resolutions that way. But geez, what a headache. Do yourself a favor, despite the nice beach and shade here, stay elsewhere.
Pleasant experience overall staying here over the New Years. I would more rate it a 3.5 if possible, but for what it is, I'm happy with giving it a 4/5. We had a beautiful oceanfront room--I think all suites are--with a kitchenette, small fridge and microwave too that was very useful to have. The free breakfast left a lot to be desired, but you could order from a menu ($), which we often did. The beach is beautiful and at low tide it is amazing for snorkeing!! Its not a large area, but a wide variety of fish to see. The best part of the beach is the beach bar--Antonio always makes happy hour very entertaining! We were shocked by how long it would take to request simple things delivered to our room (we offered to come to the front desk to pick them up!) like an extra towel or extra sheets/blankets. Sometimes it would take hours, other times it would take a whole day! Very strange. Also we had issues with our safe and had to frequently request help opening/closing it. The hotel staff was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The location is also great, in relatively close proximity to restaurants in the town. We would enjoy the 15-20min walk to our favorite restaurants. May visit again if the price is right!!
We stayed here for a week after having been on a cruise around the islands. It was fabulous, our room was large and very comfortable with everything you could want. It was a lovely surprise to find a full size fridge in our room and if we had wanted to make anything to eat there was a kitchenette in our room - perfect. Antonio at the beach bar makes the best Mudslide's in the world - to die for. Good job I had one towards the end of the week else I would have been having at least one a day and my waistline would have been vastly extended. All staff were friendly, couldn't really fault this lovely hotel. Would definitely return.
We spent a week at Coconut Court following our cruise, arriving Christmas Day and leaving New Year's Day. We had 2 Deluxe rooms as a family of four. The hotel is a little piece of paradise, right on the beach, sufficient sunbeds, natural shade from palm trees and a small reef to snorkel safely, the location made our holiday. You know you are in Barbados; it is not just another corporate hotel and we loved it. The rooms were spotless and kept that way for the whole of our stay. Service and food were good and the hotel staff worked hard to make New Year’s Eve a lovely event. Thank you Coconut Court for a wonderful holiday.
Great stay here. Accommodation really good and clean. Great location. Friendly staff. Antonio at beach bar is amazing and great fun. Ted's tours is a must to do trip from the hotel. Will be definitely be going back again. Great location.
