Coral Mist Beach Hotel
- What's Included
Great hotel a little dated but who cares when the ocean is on your doorstep ! Magnificent location a different world shame restaurants weren't closer but great location to get away from it all . Not far from the gap and on a bus route so you can see actual Barbados for around $2
Stayed only 2 nights in March. In for a funeral. Room was clean. Air conditioning smelled a bit musty at startup, but either we got used to it or smell went away. My son who is somewhat sensitive did not complain. Most rooms seem to have terraces facing the beach. Location is good. Short walk to another beach in Rockley. Also a Chefette over there and little beyond that a shopping center. A grocery was also a short walk away.Hotel workers were all friendly and polite.Wifi in room worked with no problems.Only negatives were back side of the room is close to the road and you can hear road noise during the day. Also we needed to call JetBlue with a toll free number, that no one in the hotel could help us with. We could not reach it with room phone or desk phone.Room had a working refrigerator, microwave stove... We only used the refrigerator. Stove looked dated but clean.
Spot on location - short bus ride to Bridgetown, Oistins, Gap. We booked a 1 bed studio and asked for a sea view, on arrival were given a huge 2 bed apartment with direct sea view - amazing! Had everything we needed. You need to put the key fob in to get AC. Loads TV channels. Nice lamps. Fully equipped, fresh towels. Wifi works well even on beach. Safe. Only complaint was shower head too low to stand under comfortably. Quiet beach in a good way. Unusual having two hotels as seems like one hotel with two receptions. Use of two pools which is a nice luxury especially when the sea waves are rough. Gardens beautiful. Exceptionally clean everywhere. Staff were at times indifferent yet professional, except 2/3 who always had a greeting or a smile. Checkout day could have worked out expensive (£45 per 3 hours after midday checkout, with no mention of shower / changing facilities, very strict about getting beach towels back directly at checkout time instead of departure time, a shame considering hotel wasn't busy). The restaurant lets the hotel down, sandwich ok to poor, coffee terrible. They need to set up a bar(s) for guests to charge pool / beach side drinks to their rooms. Needs some tweaks to details such as rusty white board at entrance - not great first impression, and rust running down wall on beach side - only needs a bit of paint. Overall would stay again, especially because of the location and views.
We have just returned from our second visit to the Coral Mist. Everything was perfect again. i see that some people complain about the road noise but we never found it a problem, also the sound of the waves crashing on the beach was one of the highlights for us...certainly not a negative .Staff are all very friendly and location is perfect For the price i do not think you will find anywhere better. (We have stayed in 3 more expensive hotels on the island and still prefer this one.) We have already booked to return again and are looking forward to another superb holiday at this wonderful resort.
We have just returned from Barbados & we stayed here for 16 nights. The whole place, beach included, was spotlessly clean. Housekeeper came in everyday n towels changed daily. The self-catering facilities were quite sufficient. The downside that I believe is not stated in brochures etc, is that all these rooms face the sea and back on to a very busy main road. It is very noisy, especially at night with no way of closing the noise out without resorting to earplugs. Also, and please do not mistake me, I love the sound of the ocean, but the sea crashes onto shore and does not gently lap, it does sound like thunder, though I preferred that sound to the traffic that hammered by, with a short interlude in the small hours. If u want a peaceful and quiet hotel, I do not recommend here. The pool and beach had enough sun beds etc, but be quick in the morning to stake ur spot before the Americans n Canadians take over and dominate their territory. Also there is no beach bar so getting a soft drink, water, sandwich, snack etc, you need to get at the local supermarket. By-the-way its huge and stocks everything. Personally, I wouldn't return here but u get what u pay for.
