An amazing hotel. Arrived during Hurricane Maria. Staff were brilliant. They kept us fully updated of the storm's progress and provided us with lamps during the power cut. They also kept the restaurant up and running and served the most delicious food. This is our third visit to this hotel and we will definitely be going again. Thank you everyone at Royal Pavilion
Stayed here for one week in September. I usually stay elsewhere on the island but that hotel was closed for 2 weeks and we were in Barbados to attend a wedding and could not re-arrange.Before I review the hotel and facilities, I will say now that there is a thief amongst the staff. I left an i-phone on the bar one evening right next to the staff. The next morning,the find my i-phone app located it as on the premises until it died. The phone was not returned to me. This could admittedly have been a guest or a member of staff and on the basis that I could not determine this either way, there was no mileage in making a formal complaint even though I did make it clear that it had been taken and Management did "search" for it.What I can and will blame the staff for is missing clothes. My wife bought a brand new pink Odabash bikini in Spain 4 days before we flew out to Barbados. This cost more than £200. She packed it in its clear bag and took it with her to wear for the first time. When she tried to find it whilst away, she had only an empty bag. Now she has a number of these bikinis, all taken in their bag so it wasn't the only empty bag. During the holiday we both discussed this and decided to wait until we were home to be 100% certain that she hadn't left it at home (she was adamant that she had brought it and not taken it out of its bag). When we returned home there was no bikini. She had taken it to Barbados and it had been removed from our room. Furthermore, a pink Burberry polo shirt is also missing. This was worn on holiday and definitely was not left behind. Given the phone issue, this has not altogether surprised me but I am very disappointed and I would urge the management (Ryan) to take this seriously and check who was cleaning our suite on a regular basis because these items have gone missing at the Fairmont. Perhaps the culprit has a thing for pink! Now for the hotel. Desperately in need of renovation which is happening right now. The images for the new rooms look fantastic and I am certain that in a couple of years, the accommodation will be very good. The suite we stayed in was OK, it needed to be renovated but it was a decent size and had a fantastic position overlooking the beach. It is not just the rooms that need a renovation however, the whole site does. The restaurant and bar area need to be improved. The pool area is fine but the staff there are either lazy or disinterested. By the third day we had to ask one of the three men stood around doing nothing (not even making customer sunbeds up!) to clean the pool. It is located next to trees and leaves and branches naturally fall into it. Only when we asked did they bring a net to clean it. Imagine having to wade through this debris everyday and see the staff looking on doing nothing. They did not however think to get out a brush and sweep up the poolside as well and they did not clean the pool again while we were there.It also took five days for us to convince the staff to allow us to open a bar tab for drinks by the pool. Why? The staff say policy. I don't know what the truth is but I do know that i do not want to get out of the pool to sign for drinks every time they are ordered.Breakfast was poor. Tinned fruit not fresh on Barbados which is unbelievable. Other choices were not appealing to us. The lunch menu on the other hand was good and the quality of food delivered was good. The 2 gentlemen staff serving lunch were also very helpful and proactive, ensuring that we had chilled water when had lunch etc. Top marks for these.The hotel location is wonderful but more needs to be done with the beach area. The Beach Club as they call it needs to be developed beyond a couple of beds and umbrellas adjacent to the car park and a shack. I might be doing them a disservice here as the beach had been largely taken away by Storm Maria just as we arrived and maybe there are plenty of beach facilities normally.In summary, I would not return because the hotel and facilities are simply not up to scratch and certainly not comparable to many of the competitor hotels on the West Coast. The wedding we attended was at the Colony Club which is just 5 minutes away by taxi and altogether more impressive. The fact that we also lost a phone, our negligence admittedly (but you would absolutely expect to have this returned to you the next day in most hotels) and more seriously, had clothes taken from our room means that I could never return or recommend this hotel. Many of the guests we spoke to when we were there had been going for years but did say that this was their last which I think reflects exactly what we experienced.
We stayed at Sugar Hill and had access to the beach club. The facilities are good, very casual and relaxed. The food was great for lunch and the service fun and friendly. Nice and secure beach area to swim and really chill out.
Spent several days at this hotel. The hotel is located on the beach and if you are located on the ground floor suites, you can walk from your room onto the beach. The service from this hotel was very good. Breakfasts were great. The lunch menu was a bit limited after a few days but the food was certainly good.This is quite an expensive hotel especially as Barbados is a particularly expensive country to vacation in. My biggest gripe is unclear pricing. The hotel and its affiliates do not provide transparent pricing with taxes and services fees thrown into the price at the end. If these fees are mandatory, then include them in the price.
What can I say this time - accompanied by our whole family for the first time trip to our favourite hotel did not disappoint. Our daughters did not understand why we kept returning to the Fairmont Royal Pavilions but they do now!!!! Fantastic site, right on a beautiful beach with the most friendly people you could every wish to meet. Both daughters are now hooked and can't to return to enjoy everything this hotel has to offer - Taboris restaurant, What more can anyone wish for besides sun and crystal blue sea.The hotel is closing as the end of September this year for a complete refurbishment and upgrade - we wish everyone well and look forward to returning soon to see new look hotel.
