The Palm Terrace Restaurant at this hotel is closed until further notice, but the hotel is keeping very quiet about this. The Palm Terrace is the main restaurant at the Royal Pavilion so it's closure leaves only the Taboras restaurant which is for casual dining. How does the hotel justify it's 5 star rating if it is not providing one of the main amenities that make up a five star rating?
We stayed in the newly refurbished rooms which were done very nicely and are very comfortable. We were on the second floor room 227 which you do not want. The balcony wall is higher up from ground limiting view and since the linen closet is next door, every time I entered my room the housekeeping cart was in front of our door. Very annoying. Staff was pleasant, beach is great
Excellent site, staff and facilities. Our anniversary made memorable by the hotel's staff and attentiveness. All water sport facilities available. Good menu and wine choices.Only one of the staff did not have a ready smile and greeting. An island-wide power outage allowed us to see that their backup generator had insufficient capacity and low water pressure in the rooms for 3 or 4 days was a bit annoying. What looked like a piece of dung on the pantiles in front of our seaview balcony remained there for the whole ten days of our stay, despite me telling them about it on the morning after our arrival.
Our past experience has been amazing. The service this time was a disappointment. Except for Edwin and Dawn who as usual provided a great experience. The updated rooms are beautiful and the rest of the facilities remained the same.
I stayed in an Oceanfront Deluxe Room in the North building. They are contemporary in style with greys and blues. The decor is very light. They overlook the ocean and have wonderful views. The bathroom is large with a separate tub and new glass shower, giving it a modern feel. The shower is solar powered so isn’t the most powerful or hottest but does the job. The room features a large balcony with sun loungers too. There is one main restaurant in the centre of the hotel, offering Al Fresco dining, right by the beach. I had an evening meal here and chose the Blackened snapper which was probably the best fish dish I had whilst out in Barbados. The menu had lots to offer and the waitress was great at recommending dishes. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance in the evening as it was relaxing and calm by the sea with live music playing but remaining quite casual. I also had breakfast here the next morning. This is buffet style with an a la carte menu too. They provided me with a tea menu which was very unique in a wooden book style with all the different flavoured options.I loved my time here and if you're into a smaller, quieter hotel with an amazing beachfront location, this hotel is for you.
