We had a great stay at the fairmont. The view from the rooms is just WOW and the sea is crystal clear. Loved the afternoon tea and a special thank you for Ryan for helping me master the paddle board and the hobi cat. Having the free water sports is a great addition. Also the hotel was great in giving us a courtesy room due to a late flight.
A gorgeous hotel in a fantastic location with wonderful staff. From the moment we arrived (following a week at the Colony Club) we were made to feel special. We stayed in a beach suite with butler and it was truly great. Dawn (one of the butlers) unpacked for us and arranged everything beautifully when we arrived, then throughout our stay was always on hand (along with Peter and Edwin) to make reservations for us, iron clothes and generally help out in whatever way we needed. The beach and pool area are lovely and unlike other hotels there is never a problem getting a sun be. It was lovely to wander down to pool or beach whenever you were ready without having to worry about those holiday makers that had been up since 6 reserving their beds, no one did this. The afternoon tea and evening canapés are a lovely touch, and on the whole the food was of very good quality. The only issue we ever had (and I think it could be sorted easily) was the wait for breakfast every morning. Tables were never ready and each day we were told to sit and wait. With more staff this issue could easily be resolved. Would like to make special mention of the pool attendants, particularly Simon, who couldn't do enough for you, whether it was bringing fresh towels or drinks whenever you wanted them or getting floating beds for the children, they were simply fantastic. We will definitely be back.
We stayed here for four nights following two weeks at Waves Resort and Spa.Location is good, you don't really need a car (although we had one), it's probably a 20 minute walk into Holetown, and thankfully, there are a few nice restaurants very close by, which is needed, as the food and service in Toboras is shocking. The waiting staff are rude and miserable, we waited 45 minutes one morning for breakfast, when it arrived it was cold and undercooked. No apology. We had a ground floor, butler service room with patio, very nice, but no dressing area, or well-lit area for hair/make-up. I believe they are closing at the end of August for a re-furb. Air-con did not work properly and sounded similar to an Airbus A380 pushing back for take-off! Hopefully this will all be rectified during the re-furb.The gym was large and very nicely air-conditioned, with all the equipment you would get at Nuffield. The Butlers and Beach Ambassadors were always around asking if you needed anything and being very attentive. If the service in the restaurant was greatly improved, I would definitely return, but would be reluctant without that happening. Although there are plenty of very deserving restaurants nearby, sometimes you just want to chill in your own hotel grounds after a hard days' snorkelling, and that is not an option with Taboras.
The location and beach was great! We stayed in the villa and it was really nice, perfect for a family needing 3 bedrooms. The staff was everything from great to poor. Those that were great like Samantha, Toni-Marie and Peter, were really great. The food at Taboras was really not good and it is the only real option on property as The Palms is only open one night a week. The hotel needs an update.
If you're after an unpretentious tropical experience, this is the place. If you're of an ostentatious bent, go elsewhere. The rooms are spacious and well cleaned. The staff are extraordinarily friendly, helpful and fun. The grounds are lush and tropical and well kept. The pool, restaurant and bar area forms a sociable central area that links to a long and spacious beach with a cordoned swimming area. Non-powered water sports are free and well supported by an encouraging team. Breakfast lunch and dinner are very good, although Lonestar, nextdoor is extremely good.
