- What's Included
My husband and I and our three teenagers stayed in two connecting rooms at the Hilton Barbados. We loved the location and the layout of the resort. The beach was beautiful there and it was never overcrowded. We enjoyed the cabanas and the hammocks and never ran into difficulty reserving these when we wanted them. At many resorts these are always taken or very expensive to rent for the day. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the daily happy hour!
Our issue was with management response to our room having no AC. Though we were eventually moved the next day it set a tone to our trip that left us overall disappointed from the first evening. The hotel was otherwise nice, but I could not make use of the amenities. The room comfort was primary concern for this trip.
Let me start with a positive note. Room was very nice with high ceilings and recently remodeled. Don't expect your room to be cleaned before 3 if not later. The hallway had no air conditioning for the 1st 3 days of our stay and was very stagnant each time you left your room. They were remodeling some rooms as you walked on the sixth floor. Doors were dirty and most of the time unlocked. With exposed wires in the hallway. Don't think the carpet ever gets vacuumed. As far as the executive lounge... ants and nats all over the food. The food choices were disgusting and another room with poor air conditioning and not enough seating. We opted to eat out each morning. We went down to lighthouse restaurant and it had the same gross food and after waiting 15 minutes for our coffee we walked away! The beach is not private and they have creepy guys walking around offering massage, aloe and we believe one guy was trying to sell weed. The beach chairs we in disarray and ripped and torn. We stayed under the cabana and noticed a used condom next to the chairs. They don't clean the beach area. No real security to speak of. So we spent most of our time at Carlisle Bay and paid for a umbrella. The beach was nicer in Barbados standards. We walked the fort on hotel grounds and couldn't believe again all the exposed wiring and over all hazard! What a shame not to have the Hilton preserve the part of history. We walked over to the raddison lobby and saw a actives board each day letting their guest know about local sites such as George Washington house and garrison changing of the guards. Hilton just had a board listing what restaurant to dine in for the night... as if you wanted anymore horrible food. The guys up front were very nice. As long time Hilton Honors members we very disappointed and thought it could have been so much better. We will not vacation here again.
My stay at the Hilton Hotel was an excellent experience. I would recommend anyone to use the Hilton as whenever they travel. The room was extremely clean. The breakfast was delicious. The service was warm and hospitable.
The rooms, if you get the right one have a nice view, but don't expect anything better than a motel six with a high price. The food is very expensive and terrible. Eat out at the local spots!! I would spend my money more wisely and head to a less expensive and local environment away from the crowds.
