Could be so much better...

First of all, we had a great holiday; the Barbados sunshine and the Caribbean sea make it impossible not to. We relaxed on the white sand beach and read lots and enjoyed some, but not all, of the hotel.Here are the positives first:Beautiful beach; lots of sun loungers and parasols; really nice pools (although the hawkers were a pain at times)Great staff in The Watersedge Pool bar and the Lighthouse Restaurant. Most of the reception staff were helpful too.Happy Hour in the Watersedge pool bar!Good sized room behind the lighthouse.Fantastic breakfasts in the Lighthouse restaurant.Brilliant gym with a wide range of equipment, we used it every morning.Unfortunately, here are the negatives:The Executive Lounge - as Diamond members we were upgraded to access the lounge. Never have we experienced one like it. We accept that all Hiltons are different and this one charges for alcoholic drinks (6 US Dollars for a glass of wine) however, the service was not good. This is with the exception of Stephan, who was head and shoulders above the rest, and a really nice lady who went on holiday for the whole of October (unfortunately I cannot recall her name). The other staff made us feel uncomfortable for drinking in there; they reduced the sizes of the wine glasses and then said they hadn't! Stephan brought them back a few days later and gave us some drinks vouchers.. There is a camera pointed at the bar and sometimes a member of staff stood over the bar watching and pointing to the slip of paper where you record what you have consumed. This lounge works as a honesty bar where you help yourself and then are billed. We have never felt so uncomfortable in an Executive Lounge! We did mention our concerns at reception a couple of times. Stephan was the hero there for us! Having said that, they accidentally forgot to inform us about a weekly complimentary cocktail party on Wednesday; to compensate they gave us complimentary dinner in the Lighthouse restaurant on the Saturday, which we really appreciated. This leads me on to my next concern...Communication - there does not seem to be a consensus of understanding and knowledge among the staff. We were able to take breakfast in the restaurant, instead of the Executive lounge. The breakfast in the latter was not very good, we eventually discovered what we were entitled to eat in the restaurant - continental and some hot food, basically anything except the 'live' egg station. We had to sign a bill for each breakfast, which we were assured was just procedure. We met several guests who had no idea they could eat breakfast in the restaurant and were so grateful when we told them.Careenage bar - also linked with communication, there is an under advertised Happy Hour between 8 and 9 pm, however the drinks included are not indicated, which led to some confusion at times. The bill - I would highly recommend guests check their bills every few days. We kept all our receipts and were very glad that we did. When you get a print out of your bill, it is pretty long - they itemise everything and tax and service charge is added to everything. The bill is of course in Barbados dollars. We found a number of mistakes, we are sure they are mistakes and not at all deliberate, however, we felt we had to be savvy and all over it. we were wrongly charged for a few breakfasts; a bill from the hotel shop and we were not allocated our daily resort credit on one occasion. Although just errors, we felt a little stressed at having to check everything so meticulously.Renovations - The noise during the day did not bother us as we were on the beach; however it was much more of a disturbance around the pool. I could not understand why they didn't shut off the whole floor that they were working on. We became one of about 4 rooms being used on a floor which was being renovated. One day we had to pick our way round entire bathrooms in the corridor! We did not ask to move as we were not in the room during the day and at least we did not have any neighbours at night! However it did give it a strange ambiance.I am aware this review sounds very negative, but I hope the number of stars indicate that there was a lot of good too. As I said at the beginning, we enjoyed our holiday. The Operations Manager was quite present and was very lovely. She was also fast and efficient, not at all the Bajan way! Our big test is...would we go back? Sadly, we do not think we would, maybe if there was a revolution in the Executive Lounge!

Perfect place to unwind

Perfect place, unfortunately we were there during Hurricane season, much as Barbados wasn't affected, 3 of the 4 days we were there it rained. The staff was great, at the Front Desk; (Natasha was superb, gave us late check out, understood our position & was considerate of my membership tier. Katrina was the person who checked us out & cant think of any better departure experience than that. Melissa B was engaging but nothing exceptional, that's why i had to go to Natasha where i needed more understanding). Jaleesa at the poolside bar was marvelous!As fort the rooms, they were clean, & sizeable i must admit. The only downside is lack of HD channels & i cant stand tv without HD feed. Overall, i dont think i could have found a better place to stay in Barbados.

Busy bodies

Was here for a Smooth Jazz Festival and the Hilton was the venue for the concerts. Although many of the staff tried to be helpful in directing us to bars, restaurants, and info desks, they in fact ended up giving conflicting information. Needless to say we felt like we were ping pong balls in a games - being bounced all around! Our other issue was that the restaurant and bar for their "top" restaurant, the Careenage was not good. They had run out of a lot of things, and it took well over 45 minutes to get our bill and get it straightened out! The chef was touted as the best in the Caribbean! Really?!๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Paradise Found

My husband and I have just left after 10 days of bliss . Weather wonderful , beautiful white sandy beach and 3 pools , one infinity . What really makes this hotel is the outstanding customer service . Every single one of the staff do their utmost to make your stay as relaxing and happy as possible . We ate out most nights but there Are several restaurants on site and a lovely omelette station in the lighthouse restaurant . Special thanks to Gina and her team in reception , Janice at the waterfront restaurant and Cheryl our room maid , who always kept our room spotless . Michelle who wrapped my banana cake to bring home . Not forgetting Shirlene , who made our stay outstanding . We will be back . The best Holiday and a great way to celebrate a special Birthday . ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿพ

Great people and great location

I stay at the Hilton Barbados for every visit in Barbados. Everyone in the hotel is so welcoming and friendly and helpful. The views are gorgeous. Thereโ€™s lots of room on the beach and the bar by the pool is great. You can choose from 2 pools, One is an infinity pool, and there is even a pool for the kids. Itโ€™s close to lots of food shacks and restaurants. You can also walk along the beach in both directions and feel very safe. I believe every room has a balcony either facing the ocean or facing the pool area. And there are lots of activities if you want. There is also a spa and fitness center, and various fitness classes every day.

Vacations packages include round-trip flights, accommodations, round-trip transfers (unless outlined below) to and from the hotel, and tourist cards (if required, unless outlined below).

If selecting an all-inclusive resort option, the package will also include the all-inclusive features as outlined by each resort.
