Gorgeous Hotel!

This hotel is linked to the Island Inn near Bridgetown so we chose to spend the day here and we were able to use the facilities and eat there instead! The location was great, and near the expensive part of the island. the hotel pool is lovely and the sunloungers were very comfortable! There is plenty of shaded areas too. The food was a buffet and had plenty of choice for us and all very tasty! The beach was lovely and there was sunloungers just off the beach on a patio area which was very popular! The sea was warm and a beautiful stretch of sand! The hotel was lovely and can imagine how good this would be to stay at!

Absolutely fantastic.

If I could give this hotel 6 out of 5 I would, it really was that good. From checking into our oceanfront room the 10 days of our stay was one of the most relaxing of any holiday I can remember. The resort itself is small but beautifully set out and the staff are wonderful. The food was varied with a la carte every other day it make eating more of an occasion and the standard of food served was comparable with any top hotel anywhere in the world. The free catamaran tour and water sports were a great way to while away the days along with walks along the stunning beach front. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barbados.

wonderful

first time in Barbados, and we arrived on 2nd May for 8 days. On arrival we were greeted by a huge smile and a cool towel, the rum punch was nice too! the check in was easy and we were shown our room with our bags arriving within a couple of minutes. The room was clean & tidy, if a tad tired looking but the aircon worked and this was the first time the safe has actually worked correctly. We had a 4th floor room, and had the real delight of watching hummingbirds from the balcony. Staff were very friendly and my wife would like to thank Omar in the bar for the 'sex on the beach' cocktails. Surprised to see others commenting on the sunbed situation, we never had a problem with it, and even if the beach ones were reserved we only had to ask the pool guys and it was sorted. Food was lovely, although breakfasts were the same every day and dessert choices were limited. The beach was great, but had a fairly sharp drop off and it can be a little difficult leaving the sea, but top tip is take a snorkel and mask (you wont be disappointed) and the free trips are worth going on. Very happy with our stay at Mango Bay and would love to go back one day

Really dissapointed

We have been staying at this resort for a number of years and have enjoyed it very much. However we arrived 2nd May for a 10 day stay which was our third stay at this property in the last 12 months. We had booked a standard room and emailed in advance requesting a pool view room ( which was not acknowledged). On arrival we were allocated room 405 which must be the worst room in the hotel ! The room was dark and even with the lights on it was still dingy. The view from the balcony was overlooking the car park and the junk that had been left below . The air con was either freezing or off ( at least the rattling unit masked the traffic noise). If you like curry you could leave the balcony doors open and get the full benefit from the Indian restaurant next door!We requested an alternative room and as we has spent close to £15k on holidays to the resort in the last year we would have expected to be accommodated, but we were told no rooms were available even though the hotel was only 60% full. Obviously no one could be bothered to do the admin !. We have noted from contributors who were staying there at the same time as us how much they enjoyed their room upgrades and could see there were a number of empty rooms so perhaps our business is no longer wanted ?.Another real negative which a lot of gusts complained about is the rush for sunbeds particularly around the pool . On some mornings they were being 'bagged' with towels down at 5.30am in the morning and if you didn't get down by 6.00am forget it!. On the upside the staff are very thoughtful and generally lovely and do their best to ensure you have a great time, particular thanks to Marcia,Peter and Tanya and the house keeping staff who made the best of our room.Food is great and varied from A la carte to interesting buffets and changes regularly.Entertainment is a bit hit and miss but generally OK.Location is perfect on the beach and close to Lime Grove and other restaurants if you want to get out and about . A lot of returning guests like ourselves so not all bad.Our advice is book Superior room or better and be prepared to get up early if you want a sniff of a sunbed!

Still as it was 10 years ago...

We returned after a gap of 10 years and this was our third visit to Mango Bay. The positives were our bed in room 423, very comfortable, also located on the 4th floor with great views, and overlooking the pool and gardens. We also recognised the efficient and very pleasant members of staff, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms can do with an update, nothing much changed in 10 years, and the decor and bathroom could do with improvement. Food was on the whole OK, but no wow factor. The nightly entertainment is overdone. Less quantity but more quality would be my preference. This is a good value hotel, in a great location, and its key attraction is its staff dedication to the guests. We would recommend renting a car, which will work out cheaper than booking the trips with tour companies.
