Overview
On a great beach, conveniently located next to a shopping centre, Mango Bay is relaxing and intimate. Great for couples seeking a low-key, laid-back holiday.

Location: West Coast, 20 minutes from Bridgetown, 45-minute drive from Grantley, Adams International Airport and located directly on the beach.

Best part about this hotel is the staff. Every one of them were genuinely friendly and wanted to ensure we had everything we needed. Location on the beach is great however the entry to the sea is not the best as there is a steep shelf at the very edge of the water and a lot of shingle. You know there’s a problem when they anchor a rope from the beach to pull yourself back onto dry land with. The first few days all the sunbeds were reserved by 7:30am (which the hotel tell you not to do). We were told by one guest that a member of staff put their towels out for them. Tut Tut Management. By the end of the first week most of these guests had gone and there were plenty of beds available at 9am which was good. Food is lovely but a lot of things came on a bed of mash of one sort or another and I get very sick of mash after 2 weeks. Also, too many dishes with cheese of various types on it. I would have chosen a lot more dishes if it hadn’t been covered or cooked in a cheese sauce. Rooms are of a good size, we were in a separate block which is apparently used as an overflow when the hotel is full and they rent them from the owners for the hotel guests. Ours had more than we needed including the dust and dirt. Lamps had to be propped up against the wall to avoid them falling over. Several electric sockets didn’t work and our kettle had to be plugged in on the floor as there wasn’t a socket near the table it was on. Very dangerous to boil a kettle on the floor. Another annoying thing was that housekeeping wanted to turn down the room and swap towels just when we were wanting to rest or change for the evening. I gave up trying to nap before going to dinner. Why can’t they come when everyone is out?? The fogging gave me the fright of my life. We arrived around 5pm and were shown around then taken to our room. I decided to shower before dinner and when I opened the bathroom door it was full of smoke. I thought the building was on fire so shut the door and ran out of the room. It later turned out that they spray a chemical once a week to keep the mosquitos down. Nobody told us! The bar is nice if not small, furniture needs replacing as several chairs were broken. Entertainment suited the age group of the guests which were 65+ on average which was disappointing as we were looking for a bit more life. Carpenters album was continuously played so I am well sick of them now. Many people commented on their room and the noise. These rooms were nick named Cell Block H by the guests we spoke to so I would avoid any of the rooms at the front of the hotel. All the other reviews about these rooms and the noise are true as we went to the street karaoke on Sundays and yes, its loud, very loud but great fun! I didn’t feel I had value for money here. This hotel is a bit run down and needs updating and when that is done it will be a lovely place.

Second visit... just as good

We've just returned from our second visit to Mango Bay, we traveled at the same time as last year Jan/ Feb and we very happy with our stay.We are fortunate to travel frequently and we really feel this hotel represents excellent value for money. The location is excellent, on a beautiful sandy beach on the Platinum Coast with close proximity to shops, bars & transport links. We had a deluxe room, which was well maintained and beautifully cleaned daily, and we experienced none of the disturbing noise some complain about. The staff are great, friendly and nothing's is too much trouble, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and enjoy your stay. The food is plentiful and of good quality, there's a BBQ one evening and an international buffet one evening, and the occasional lunch time buffet, but otherwise it's predominantly waitress service, and there's plenty of choice. The hotel is very socialable, and there's live music most evenings, so you can dance under the stars if you wish.We like to take this opportunity to thank the management and staff for their excellent hospitality, we look forward to seeing you all again.

A wonderful place to stay

I'll get the bad out of the way first. As mentioned in other reviews the noise from neighbouring bars at the back of the hotel on the weekend is unwelcome. But everything else more than made up for it. The food for an all-inclusive offering was exceptional and there is plenty of choice on the drinks front too. Highlights for me were fish sticks at breakfast, beef stir fry noodles and the amazingly spicy Bloody Mary. The trip on the catamaran to swim with the turtles is a must. We will be back Mango Bay!

Lovely honeymoon stay, great beach, nice staff and delicious food!

Mango bay is a lovely relaxing hotel as it's a small hotel so it's quiet and don't feel crowded around the grounds. There are a few bars which are noisy on the evening but they did not keep us up at all, we could barely hear it if door was shut except from karaoke night on Sunday but it still didn't keep us up. The food is exceptional, lunch and dinner choices were good, always a vegetarian a fish and two meat dishes to choose from. The desserts were my favourite, the assorted trio each night were great! There are two casual evenings, Wednesday and Saturday where the dinner service is a buffet and Sunday and Tuesday the lunch is buffet service. Afternoon tea is also tasty. The bar is great, lots of tasty cocktails on menu but will also do any cocktail you ask for! Waiter service on the beach and around the pool so you don't have to get up and wait. The reception are very helpful and booked all our trips and dinner reservations. All staff were friendly and enjoyed a joke! The rooms are spacious with clean pool towels everyday! Beach area is great, 20 metres out is rock reef with lots of different fish so snorkelling is fun! Also free water sports activities and 2 complimentary boat trips provided by the hotel. We had great wifi all around the grounds of the hotel and on the beach too. We will be back at mango bay sometime in the future!

Sadly Not What It Was

I've been to Mango Bay several times and have previously thoroughly enjoyed it. However, we went again this January and were totally disheartened to find that a loud group of about 20 guests partied noisily until late, blatantly blocked almost all of the sunbeds on the deck each day - at least half of the beds they reserved were never used and those which were, were occupied by heavy smokers and loud talkers.Several guests complained to staff but to no avail. I've seen the same group of people at Mango Bay previously, and in the past staff have had a quiet word with the offending parties, behaviours have improved and Mango Bay standards quickly recovered. Not this year though. On our departure we discussed our concerns that Mango Bay was more interested in retaining the income from large groups than ensuring individuals and couples can enjoy their holidays. Nobody disagreed.A friend has just returned from Mango Bay this month and had a very similar experience to us and has said they will not return.I don't think we will either. It is very sad to see that standards have slipped so much. Poor show Mango Bay.
