Crane - truly stunning, must-see Caribbean resort!

Crane's cliff-top locale is stunning. Villas w rooftop private plunge pool, have luxury feel, with cool breezes; a wonderful, unique experience. We love option of cooking in the villa (nice kitchen and rooftop grill) or visiting one of the restaurants (Zen is our favorite). Grounds are beautiful; staff super friendly and accommodating. Tiered pools are featured attractions. Resort could take it to top resort level w a few extra touches, in our view: AC just fine, but US guests want ability to make cooler; private pools should be kept even cleaner; rooftop lounger pads overly worn; reception can be uncomfortably warm if waiting for room on check in.

We actually live in Barbados on the West Coast and sometimes need a break, a total change of scenery and peaceful surroundings - that is when we head to the Crane for a three/four night stay! Every thing we need in one place and the service keeps getting better and better as time goes by.

Our stay at Crane Resort

WOW ! This resort is absolutely gorgeous, the grounds are kept well, the beach is amazing. We visitedd this resort through RCI Exchange, we were not satisfied with the room that RCI had assigned for us and the resort quickly changed our room to a 5 star suite. The restaurants at this resort are great, the food is amazing.. I would go back to this resort in a heart beat... love this place.. thank you Crane for making our vacation a wonderful memory

3.5*-4* - Good but some changes needed

We stayed at The Crane for 10 nights, we had some amazing experiences and not so good experience at The Crane. Amazing points:* The grounds are stunning, so many staff on every day to make this look beautiful* Staff, aside from reception (which I'll discuss later) were always so friendly* Food, aside from The Carriage House (which I'll discuss later) was incredibleThe not so good: * Our air con broke and we had to be moved - we initially spoke to 2 people on reception who were snippy and unhelpful, it was only when Tamara and Sandra Cumberbatch got involved did it actually get sorted out. They are both a credit to The Crane and we'd like to thank them for their help. Lots of people were having issues with Air Con so the apartment blocks really need upgraded with better systems* Reception - several reception staff could be friendlier. We had a particular pregnant lady on reception who was rude every time we spoke to her and didn't once make eye contact. I understand she was bound to feeling uncomfortable at work, but it really put us off asking anything when she was on the desk so we avoided it.* The Carriage House - Terrible Food, the BBQ was awful and very very overpriced at $77 minus the Service Charge* Although the grounds are stunning and really well maintained, I would have liked the indoor areas to be the same. The windows were filthy and hadn't been washed from the outside in what looked like months (you couldn't actually see out of them), lamp shades with big burn marks on them, fridge seals dirty with crumbs and still contents from the previous guest. When we were moved the room was perfect, so maybe just poor housekeeping in our original block, but it wasn't up to the standard expectedA final note from me and this might be just a very British thing, but there was a few stray cats in the resort - 2 of which were quite poorly looking and one cat was injured and limping. When mentioned to the staff they didn't seem that bothered. It doesn't seem the done thing to help an animal in those circumstances and that was a bit disappointing.Overall we enjoyed our stay but some upgrades needed.

Absolutely beautiful place!

Paid for airport transfer, it was well worth it. Very short wait and a quick and easy trip. Checkin was quick too. I had requested a plunge pool room in building 5, seeking the peace and quiet of that building. Unfortunately, the a/c was not working so we asked to be moved. We were told we would be moved to building four but at 9 pm we were moved to building 3 which was overlooking the pool and near the bar. This would never have been our request as this room was very tired, had no safe and needed some additional cleaning from previous guests. The resort is absolutely gorgeous and lives up to all the hype. The food was great, beach was lovely and pools awesome. I am convinced from everything I have read and experienced that the a/c is not the same as what you expect at most hotels. I do feel from my experience, that the rooms could use an update, having stayed here 10 years ago, however, it would not stop me from coming. Front desk was very helpful. They offered to move us again, but we were already unpacked. The Crane is a beautiful place, has many amenities and now has many eating venues it did not have 10 years ago. Also, it was nice to have the general store to pick up things you need. Ate at Azure for breakfast and it was delicious. The Carriage house offered great sandwiches and had the pizza at the D'Onofrios and it was great too. Had nachos in the bar and they were delicious. It is so beautiful here you could take pictures all day. We did not leave the resort for the whole week. Easy to find solitude. If it was too noisy by one pool, we just moved somewhere else.:-)
