Arrived off the BA flight and check in was quick and efficient. I was offered a rum or fruit punch. I did have to wait as the room wasn't ready. The room 133 was clean and tidy and well maintained. Very similar to most Caribbean hotel rooms. The bathroom had no bath but a large walk in shower. The wash basin has a large high tap which doesn't move so obstructs washing. The door into the bathroom is on the narrow side and made more restrictive by a coat hook on the back of the door that hits the wall. The main bedroom is equipped with a/c, TV, fridge, radio. The patio door opens onto an enclosed patio with access to a sandy walkway with access to the beach and pool. Two niggles were that the evening dress code wasn't enforced and neither was the request not to reserve beach beds. I used to go for a swim about 06:00 and there were beds already reserved with the reserve's not turning up until mid afternoon. Yes they had children so had at least 4 sunbeds and a couple of upright chairs. With so many staff walking around the property they should have been aware of this and removed all the items. Overall the services here is good and the hotel well maintained with the manager walking about regularly and checking detail. She was also readily available to chat and genuinely concerned that you enjoyed your stay.
Even considering all the glowing TripAdvisor reviews, Tamarind by Elegant Hotels exceeded our expectations. After a rather tiring travel day, the welcome we received by the Tamarind staff set the stage for the entire week. Cold white towels offered on a silver tray. A beautiful view of the sea from the open lobby. A delicious rum drink in our hands just as we began the check in process. And it got better from there. The hospitality is world class. The ocean front room had lots of space with open windows that showcased the Caribbean. The balcony was perfect for viewing spectacular sunsets. The Tamarind is a clean, well managed property. Breakfasts with Ether were a treat. The complimentary water taxi and water sports are an excellent feature. The beach is beautiful and there is excellent snorkeling off of the beach. We did not hire a car. The buses are easy to use. Taxi service is available. I highly recommend hiring a driver. Paynes Island Tours & Taxi Service is excellent. Paul Payne is safe, gentle and dependable. 251.1771. Paynes Bay is a great location to holiday, with easy access to Holetown and Speightstown. We will be back to the gracious and beautiful island of Barbados. And we will definitely stay at Tamarind. Highly recommended.
As expressed by many of the reviewers on TripAdvisor (which I used , of course), The Tamarind could not have been any better. Everything about our stay was perfect - from the super staff, to the beautiful room, to the ideal beach, the restaurant and bar, the pools and, of course, the complimentary water-sports and daily breakfast buffet. Also, the location is perfect - not only for the beach which is great for snorkeling, but for what is around in the area. There are a few other restaurants, both formal and casual, within walking distance and there is a convenience store right across the street. We didn't rent a car but we found it easy to get around using local buses (the stop is right outside the hotel) and taxis. The concierge staff was very attentive (thank you to both Shontonia and Joy - their service was top-notch and always with a smile) and all of the staff could not have been more accommodating and cheerful. Finally, while heading home at the airport, I spoke to other travelers who stayed at other hotels/resorts and heard their complaints. I had none to tell them. I just told them that our stay at the Tamarind was perfect!! Thank you for making our vacation so wonderful and memorable!
We have recently returned from a 10 day stay at the Tamarind hotel. From the very beginning of our stay with a welcoming Rum Punch and a welcoming greeting from Anthony and the reception staff we could not find fault with anything.Shontonia at the concierge desk was always there to help with a lovely smile and most helpful and knowledgeable at booking our restaurants for us.Our ocean front room was lovely overlooking the beach and always kept spotless.Ether , who cooked our eggs to perfection every morning , with such a happy disposition also deserve praise. We celebrated our anniversary whilst here and we're spoilt with a bottle of wine and dessert to mark the occasion! Thank you Olivia!!We were recommended by my daughter and we will certainly be recommending others.Big thanks to all!!
having just returned from our 4th visit to Tamarind we canhonestly recommend this hotel. It's true that the staff make this hotel what it is- nothing is too much trouble and this is true of all levels of staff. Rooms are clean and spacious with huge comfortable beds. We stayed on a b and b basis as we like to get out and about and try different places although we did eat in the hotel and used their excellent room service a few times. The hotel is quite central with a garage over the road where you can buy snacks etc and a bus stop outside where you can get a bus around the island (1 US dollar each). We used the hotels free water taxi several times to visit other elegant hotels. The beaches are clean but be aware that sometimes the waves can be strong making access to the sea difficult some days. Overall Tamarind offers value for money and a fantastic holiday is guaranteed.free
