This was our second holiday in the Tamarind with our family and we were not disappointed. After an issue with Virgin with our original hotel not actually being built we opted to return to the Tamarind as we knew how good it was. Staff are welcoming, polite and very helpful. We ended up with two suites on the ground floor overlooking the gardens which were both spacious and well equipped. Hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the bars and dining areas are of a high standard. Meals in the A La Carte are a little pricey but no more than you would pay for similar quality out and about in Barbados. Happy hour from 4:30 is the time to get your cocktails as the drinks are also a little pricey. Beach is picture perfect and we never had any problems getting sun beds. Free watersports for the kids was a big hit and the guys that run the activities are friendly and professional. Lots of guys on the beach selling jet ski rides, jewellery and paintings but most of them will move on if you politely decline.Would definitely recommend this hotel for couples and families alike as there is nothing you can really fault. Only issue we had was with a large party that were staying while we were in resort getting drunk, swearing and intimidating guests on a daily basis. Management tried to deal with this but in my opinion they should have done more. However, like the weather you can't plan for this and it would not stop us going again. We had noticed prices at the hotel and in Barbados had increased quite a lot since our trip the previous year and this wasn't helped by the weak pound against the dollar. If you've got the budget then try the Tamarind !
This was our first time visiting The Tamarind, Barbados and it definitely won't be the last! The hotel is amazing and right on the beach front, perfect location! We found the staff made our holiday. Just to name a few who made a big impact was Arden, Mark C, Tito, Anthony and Mark. They always had smiles on their faces and couldn't do enough for us. We were all treated like royalty throughout our stay and they go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you to all the staff and hopefully see you soon!
Stayed for a week in the Tamarind Barbados. The hotel is fabulous all round. The main thing that has prompted me to leave this review though is the staff. I have quite simply never experienced anything like it. They are unbelievable people and made our holiday. All of them are friendly and fantastic but in-particular I'd like to thank Mark C, Mark and Arden. You are a credit to your hotel and to Barbados. One reason alone to come back would be to see these lovely people again. Amazing stay. Can't recommend highly enough.
This is our second trip to Tamarind and it was great to see all the same faces there, especially Mark C behind the bar, so welcoming and great banter, it's not the same when he is not there!Food was exceptional as was the service. Our only problem was our room but that was resolved very quickly.Looking forward to our third visit next year
Apart from a couple of small issues, we had a very nice holiday at this hotel. There are many good points & nice touches that outweigh any negatives. We had standard rooms which were a decent size, very well equipped, very much in keeping with a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was a good quality buffet with an egg chef so freshly cooked eggs and omelettes were always available. The beach & pool areas were excellent, never once did we have an issue getting sun loungers in good spots, the tailored made sun lounge towels were a very nice touch as was the delivery of a small piece of fresh fruit in the morning and an ice lolly in the afternoon to where you were on the beach. The water sports availability was fantastic, with sailing, kayaking, paddle boards, water-skiing, banana rides etc.. all being included. The hotel also has an excellent Gym & Spa. There were many other small touches that were a pleasant surprise, like beach towels & bottled water being delivered to the room everyday & happy hour at the bars at 4.30 each afternoon. The only issues we had were a long wait when checking in, we arrived at 12.30 & couldn’t get our rooms until 4pm, (on leaving they let us keep the rooms until 2pm at no extra charge), & parking. The car park reserved for guests is very small, however there is a slightly larger area reserved for management which I found extraordinary as it was never full. One evening I arrived back to be told to park across the road by a fairly rude staff member, (there was nowhere across the road to park except on the verge), the management car park was empty. The manager did resolve this by letting me park in one of their empty spaces but I did feel the whole complaint should not have been necessary. Whereas most staff here are excellent, there were a few that were indifferent or bad and this is, in my opinion, the major reason this isn’t rated higher. However, I would definitely recommend The Tamarind & will return here.
