The Bottom Line- solid 4 star hotel. Good location and solid overall performance. A few limitations keep it from 5 stars. Room stayed in - deluxe kingThe Great - location is minutes from the train. The Deluxe room was quite spacious in size and appeared to be recently renovated. Bathroom was large and modern. Staff was extremely friendly. No charge for early check in which was a godsend. The Good - The breakfast buffet was serviceable. Decent variety, but nothing overly special about it except the excellent espresso drink machine. As the property didn’t have an executive lounge, status members received drink vouchers for the bar, which is always appreciated. The not so good - Despite being recently renovated, the room did not have many accessible power outlets. Most outlets were occupied with lights, and the desk area only had a single outlet, no USB chargers. The bathroom, despite being new, had some mold growing on the caulk (which I reported to an apologetic staff, but no action was taken during my stay).
The Hilton Brussels City is a nice hotel. The Lobby, Bar and Restaurant is very nice and inviting. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way make you feel welcome and appreciated. The room was a bit small but comfortable though the furnishings a little dated nothing a splash of color and a new piece of furniture or two couldn't cure. The location is great a short walk from the train station and a 3 to 4 minute walk to the city center. The Hilton is close to everything/everywhere you want to go in Brussels. When I return to Brussels I will stay stay here again...
A lovely hotel staff are always helpful. Food is always good. My only slight critique is that as there are tour groups using the hotel it would be nice to have an executive lounge as an escape especially for breakfast.
I checked in on 14th April for 2 nights. The hotel is well located a very quick walk to the North Train Station and right next to Rogier Metro Station. You could walk to the main square in less than 10 minutes.The reception area was quite nice and the staff were very helpful indeed. They allowed me to check in at 10am which was much appreciated and duly handed me 2 drinks vouchers explaining they were my diamond benefit in lieu of an executive lounge.I was allocated room 427 which was located at the end of a strange twisting corridor. It was a corner room with views over the botanical garden (although it didnt look very appealing :-s)The room was very small and dark and the bed was betwen a single and a double size - I'd say about 4 foot wide. As others have noted the matress was very strange - the main bit of the mattress was under the valance and the sheet was made up around a thin matress pad - see pics. The bed was a bit too soft but otherwise quite comfortable.What was extremely dissapointing was the cleanliness of the bathroom. There was mould all along the shower tray on one side (the side you only see inside the shower) so obviously the cleaner just cleaned the bit you could see. Also the plug hole was caked with masses of digusting hair which meant teh water backed up and you were soon standing in inches of water (which had been touching all that hair I guess - quite gross).The bathroom light came on automatically when you entered the bathrrom which was a bit annoying if you wanted to pay a visit to the toilet in the middle of the night as it was very bright.The room itself had peeling wallpaper and a missing curtain - see pics.Breakfast was average and I thought the bacon was very tasty. As was the freshly squeezed juice.If I returned to belgium I would stay at the Grand Place which whilst more expensive looks a lot more up to date. The room is certainly not up to a standard to call itself a Hilton and as I say in the title there is no excuse for filth!
