It was off-season, so we were offered the gold floor upgrade at a discount and decided to treat ourselves. We definitely enjoyed the extra privacy and better service levels on the gold floor as well as the extra amenities, especially the breakfast every morning and cocktails with hors d'oeuvres in the late afternoon. The hotel staff were excellent and we have no complaints. Special thanks to Kim and Thomas in the gold lounge for exceptional service levels that exceeded our expectations and John, the manager of the Gold Lounge, was always warm and friendly. Very frequent shuttles to the private beach as well as the other way to the Waterlot Restaurant and the frequent buses into town and towards the dockyards. Our main challenge was the bedsheets, towels, and robes. Although we requested hypoallergenic bedding, the bedding still caused an allergic reaction which affected our quality of sleep by making us itchy during the night and constantly waking. The towels and robes simply caused rashes on contact and we tried to avoid them as much as possible. Probably due to the detergent they use. If you have sensitivities to chemicals, then definitely take note. We have average sensitivity to chemicals but still reacted to it. Craig, the manager at the Front Desk, who was very helpful to us during our entire stay and even had staff pick up some bath products for us, mentioned that given advance notice, the hotel would be able to accommodate separate washing although I'm not sure what they would use. Also note that the walkway from the Fairmont Southampton private beach to Horseshoe Bay is closed for construction and guests are forced to walk all the way around on the road to the other end to reach it. Not a bad walk, but takes around 20 mins.We enjoyed our stay and without the issue with the bedding, towels, and robes, it would have been excellent. We didn't ask for it, but we would definitely have appreciated a discount on our final bill or a credit towards future Fairmont stays as a customer service gesture for the challenges with the bedding and towels. We would still recommend the hotel.
Home away from home! On our 4th visit to the Fairmont we decided to try out the Gold Level after reading all the great reviews on Trip Advisor. Believe the reviews is all I can say. We hesitated to pay the extra $$ but I would do it again. We are not needy travellers, and don't demand much, but trust me if you are they will take care of all your needs with a smile. The real reason I'm writing my first ever Trip Advisor Review is to acknowledge an exceptional Server in the Gold Lounge, THOMAS. It can't be easy day in and day out to serve customers, but Thomas went over and above with the most friendly professional attitude. When we asked for a recommendation for an offsite dinner, before we knew it we had a table at a fabulous restaurant within minutes. He's not a typical server and obviously has the skills to take on more in this company. This was just one a many helpful things. The manager of the floor runs an excellent team of professionals. Go and Enjoy! It was sad leaving Bermuda, but as always look forward to next year to our Home Away from Home!
My wife and I and our 2 adult daughters stayed at the Fairmont 3/17-3/21 and we all loved the hotel. We had an ocean view room, with 2 double beds. The entire staff was very helpful and courteous at all times. When we first arrived at our room we made a request for 2 extra deck chairs, a few extra coffee cups and additional towels. Within 45 minutes everything was brought to the room as requested. The restaurants and food were fantastic, and we really enjoyed our dinner at the Waterlot Inn, which was nothing short of perfect. Our Waiter Oliver did an awesome job and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. In summary, the Fairmont Southhampton is a wonderful hotel, with a staff that goes up and beyond to please.
The hotel was beautiful. When we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to upgrade our room for $25 a day. We decided to go for it and we didn't regret it. The view of the ocean and golf area was amazing to look at every morning. Sitting on the balcony in the mornings to watch the sunrise was spectacular. The spa was relaxing. My friend and I both enjoyed an hour massage. The staff gave bus rides down to the beach and the bus stop. The beach was wonderful for the few hours we got in before it got chilly. February is still considered their winter time. The staff was also amazing and helpful with any questions. We went to one restaurant in the hotel, it was a bit pricy, but delicious. Room service is another option, with a huge menu, reasonably priced. We would go back again.
We stayed at the Fairmont Southampton for a weeklong "babymoon" (accompanied by our 2 year old). The weather in March was not as warm as I had expected but we did get a few good beach/pool days. The hotel was AMAZING - our room was very large and our toddler actually slept in the crib they provided. The whole staff was amazing, but especially the pool staff who were constantly bringing out new toys and floats for the kids to play with. There were many other pregnant families with their young children there considering that Bermuda is still safe from Zika and the hotel staff was so great with accommodating the young kids. They also had beach toys at the concierge! Speaking of the concierge, they were so friendly and helpful and always gave great advice and had fun ideas for us! There were a few things closed at the hotel (beach restaurant, lunch burger restaurant, dock bar) since it was "off-season" but there were plenty of other places to eat and things to do that we really didn't even notice. The hotel beach is breathtaking and right next to Horseshoe Beach (which was closed for renovations). You take a short shuttle to some of the restaurants and to the beach, which was probably the most exciting part of the trip for our toddler. To no surprise Bermuda is definitely expensive but we enjoyed every minute, it was worth it! Bermuda is one of the safest, most beautiful islands I've ever been to! You can easily hop in a taxi (we didn't bring the car seat) and safely go to any sight seeing or restaurant. Would be happy to go back, maybe later in the year when it gets warmer!
