A JetBlue 8 day Vacation proved to be the absolute BEST Getaway for us...From beginning to end our trip was outstanding!...Everything worked out beyond our expectations..The shuttle to the beach was no big deal and the beach was one of the most beautiful beaches we have seen (including Hawaii)....Hotel Dining was awesome and the Service was like no other...Can't wait to go back!!!
We wanted one more real vacation before baby #2 comes in a few months, and Bermuda checked all the boxes for us: Warm, nice beach, flight not too long, low or no risk of Zika. JetBlue had a pretty good price on a vacation package, and the short flight from NYC sealed the deal. It seems we were not unique in our Zika avoidance as we saw literally dozens of pregnant women around the hotel. The Fairmont Southampton has a lot going for it, starting with a stunning location high above south shore beaches. I recommend the shared ride airport transfers, which were efficient and required no extra thinking/planning. Service through and through was helpful and friendly, in and out of the hotel. Is friendliness in the Bermudian water? The concierge especially was super helpful and we relied on them to help us plan and make connections. Our room was clean and bright, and everything worked well. I agree with a previous reviewer that calling it 'seaview' is charitable at best, but we weren't there to stay in the room. I mentioned that the hotel is on a hill - that means you have to take a shuttle to the beach and a few other far-flung parts of the property. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for a shuttle, and the drivers were very friendly (one nicknamed my 3 yr old son BEEP BEEP). Once we called for a shuttle from beach station courtesy phone, and it came within a few minutes. The beach itself is beautiful and well-maintained. Towel and wait staff, bar nearby, snorkel and diving rentals... if only the portuguese man o' war didn't keep us from going in more. Horseshoe beach is right next to the Fairmont's beach, and is even larger and more visually striking. If you want to feel like you're in a movie, walk all the way east down the beach and explore the beaches/coves between the rocks. The beauty is unreal. Restaurants were mostly good and mostly very expensive:BURGER BAR AT WICKETS: We had a great poolside lunch. Excellent fries and onion rings.NEWPORT GASTROPUB: Our first trip there was great; second time they were really hopping and the service fell off noticeably.BACCI: Delicious and great service. I had the squid ink pasta - recommended.COFFEE BAR: Good for a quick breakfast. Most things were OK on price, a few extra ridiculous, e.g. $5 for a cup of sliced watermelon.CABANA BAR: At the beach... $8 for a virgin mango daquiri for my kid???We saw lots of families there, and the Fairmont does a good job of catering to them. A new-looking toddler room on the lower level was great for killing some time (and burning some kid-energy) while we waited for our room to be ready at check-in. All restaurants had coloring books and crayons, and kids below a certain age (12?) eat free. Yes, parents, FREE even at a hotel of this caliber.Overall we made great memories at Fairmont Southampton and Bermuda in general. They make it feel very good to spend a lot of money. We don't know when exactly, but we will be back.
Excellent property for our babymoon stay! The staff was kind enough to leave nice welcome chocolates and a bottle of sparkling water for my pregnant wife, a very sweet gesture! The room was excellent and the hotel was quite convenient to get around the island, as we were visiting friends and traveled around. I highly, highly recommend this property for your stay!
We stayed at the Fairmont Southhampton for our honeymoon last week and it was wonderful! We had a great room with a view of the sea, we tried most of the restaurants and all of the food we had was delicious, staff was incredibly friendly. We went on a fishing expedition and the hotel cooked our fresh fish that we caught that day! The spa service was great and the beach area was fantastic. I'm not sure if we just picked a good week/time of year to go but it really wasn't very crowded which was so nice. The hotel was located pretty centrally and there were always taxis available. The only downside was we were supposed to get a private airport transfer with our honeymoon package and we never got onto a list, this happened for both the ride to the hotel and from. It was taken care of right away but made us a little nervous right as we got there.
This is the first time I've commented on Trip Advisor. The staff at the Fairmont Southampton are outstanding. They are friendly, accommodating, and professional. I can't say enough about how well we were treated. The resort has a lot to offer: pools, hot tubs, beach, very well equipped gym, courtesy ferry to Hamilton, golf, tennis and multiple restaurants that really makes this a very appealing spot. The food was a quite pricey but the service was first class. Our whole party noticed the quality of the service including the many little things that enhanced our stay.
