I booked a last minute birthday trip with my sister and decided to stay at Fairmont. This was my 6th trip to the island and first to Fairmont. My family and I usually stay at Pompano but since they were fully booked decided to try something new. The staff was friendly, and the facility was clean, which were all pros. The beach (which you need a shuttle to get to) was very pretty and scenic. The beach is a little small in comparison to the size of the hotel and the amount of people they accommodate but, we were able to find a decent spot on the beach daily regardless. There is food entertainment in the hotel and this is a great place for a family vacation or a group of friends. The cons of this place is the price of the food. The grill at the beach is a total rip off. I've stayed in Bermuda many times and have eaten at other hotels and my burger didn't cost me over $18 dollars! Breakfast was also expensive for a very mediocre food selection but dinner was decently priced with more options. Another con is that you have to pay to rent out noodles and floating beds none of which I've ever had to do at my stays in Bermuda. I felt like this place was charging you on all the little things and those little things add up. I would stay here again if the resort I usually go to is booked, and next time I would bring my own noodle.
Stayed here for my birthday weekend. The best place to stay when you visit the beautiful island Bermuda! Super relaxing and luxurious at a reasonable cost! Lots of amenities. Staff was very attentive and nice. Too bad we were only here for 2 nights. Would've loved to stay here longer but had to get back to New York! Would definitely re-visit... :)
Our experience on the gold floor was first rate. Robin, Kim and Rolly were genuinely friendly and made us feel like VIP. The resort is beautiful and I can't imagine there's a better view on the entire island.
A really nice place, but it can be expensive. No fault of the resort. Everything is imported to the island. So if you want to have a good time, figure out how much money you're going to need to eat, etc. Multiply that by the members of your family, or friends, and save before you go. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the rooms are nice. Also, you get free access to a private beach, which you can ride to on a shuttle from the hotel and backwhen you're ready. There's something that everyone will like about this place. But you do need to understand that you're pretty far away from Hamilton. and the dock yard. My advice is, if you want to go to the city, or the dock yard, learn how to link the ferries. They're quick, and comfortable to ride in. Taxis are handy, but you can expect to pay upwards to $40.00 to get a ride back to the hotel. Some people like the busses, but I skipped them altogether..
We stayed on the gold floor right before Christmas. It's the best deal then, almost half the normal rate. Check-in was a bit confusing and we received multiple calendars of general events in Bermuda, in the hotel, and then another specifically for holidays. This got even more confusing when planning routine events, such as taking the ferry to Hamilton or playing tennis. The schedule is different around the holidays and some of the staff was confused.Nonetheless, we had a very pleasant stay. The room was very beautiful and clean, despite being fairly outdated, especially the bathroom and balcony. The beds were very comfortable and I slept really well. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially in the Gold Lounge. The food was delicious and we still talk about the fried meatballs and grilled cheese, as well as the excellent wait staff, namely Rolly and Pascoal. I also loved the Christmas themes throughout the hotel; it felt very festive and inviting. This Fairmont also has a private luxury yacht that shuttles you back and forth to Hamilton. It typically runs once in the morning and once at night but during the holidays, there's an afternoon run as well. Some guests just rode the yacht for the views and didn't even disembark. This was definitely a great perk, since it can cost a lot for cabs around the island. There is also a private beach and tennis courts, which the front desk claims is a 7-minute walk away from the property. As a native New Yorker, I can tell you that it's at least 10 minutes at a fast pace downhill. They also have a shuttle bus that takes you there but it can be quite a wait. The walk down is simply beautiful and sometimes, ducks will just walk with you. The private beach is certainly worth checking out but Horseshoe Bay, which is literally footsteps away, is the real gem.
