Everything was great, no complaints...food was terrific, great staff, friendly. If you go make sure you ask for Delis Karina, a waitress in the restaurant. She will tend to you like she is your mother or grand mother. Beaches were stunning. Rooms were great. If you go get room 1123...ocean front view..not sure why there are so many bad comments about this place, there is nothing to complain about
This resort was far better than we could ever imagine, beautiful sandy beach, clear warm water. Three very large beautiful pools that always had chairs available to sit in.The food was excellent, just wish they would change the way you have to make reservations for the restaurants.
Short drive by air conditioned bus across the causeway from Cartagena. Hotel location was excellent as the beach area was great. Very clean, aqua water, easy to swim in as a reef offshore broke the waves. Soft, light coloured sand with ample palapas and beach chairs. The whole resort layout is good with short walks along pleasantly landscaped paths.Dining area was very clean, bright and food was excellent. Good variety of fresh, healthy food. Servers were pleasant. More English should be spoken by restaurant staff for simple items like "tea" since English speaking travelers are now visiting. Food at beach bar could be improved to include some items which are not fried. The restaurants at which reservations were required included an Asian Restaurant which was really beautiful design. Lobby bar had excellent tea, coffee, sweets available around 4-6:00 p.m. Rooms were adequate and bright but could include some English cable channels such as are included at the sister DeCameron in Cartagena.Overall an excellent place to stay for relaxing holiday for the price. Of the several pools there was an area with entertainment for those wishing more activity. The activities could use improved Yoga instructors. There are quiet areas available for those wanting a peaceful break such as on the beach or some of the other pools. Spa area was very inviting.Staff at the hotel were very pleasant and welcoming. Traveling alone I felt very safe while there and met other solo travelers.
Pros: three huge pools, very well maintenance, extensive property, beach, green areas, several restaurants, diverse buffet menu, nice roomsCons: it is 1h20m far away from Cartagena airport, but it is the price to pay for nature We'll be back!!
Okay quick caveat, I’ve always been skeptical of the all inclusive package and this is the nail on the coffin.Went here with hubby and two couple friends for what was a reunion of old friends. I loved Cartagena and the area was incredibly beautiful but the Decameron had less to be desired.Pros:*location right next to the bay and the playa Blanca *great tour options... don’t miss the bioluminescent nighttime swims! (Although keep in mind you could more than likely do this on your own)*Beautiful beach with umbrellas and towels included *Dancers were fun to watch, take the time to watch their showCons:*Room smelled like a Rastafarian convention on crack. Seriously I don’t mind the smell of pot but I don’t want to be high 24/7*Room was disgusting, yes we had clean sheets and towels but everything else was perfunctorily done and there was mildew all over the shower, the toilet was dirty, the room was in need of touch up paint*Food - you get allot of okay food the best place to eat was the dead fish and it was marginally better*Pools were hot, as in sauna level hot all day. Seriously I just want to swim in cool water!! Is that too hard to ask for?*Drinks the only thing good was the beer and wine, and the wine you could only get when eating. The mixed drinks were watered down and just gross.*Customer service was bad, I get that it’s a long wait to get a room. Totally empathize on that, but outside of those times the front desk was consistently rude, rolled their eyes when no one was supposedly looking, and super unfriendly Literally so many other amazing places to stay in the area so please don’t bother!
