Our Opinion
Royal Decameron Marazul is a bit out of town but still close enough to go in for shopping and nightlife. Although, with one of the best disco clubs on the island and a 24 hour dock-side open bar, you may not even have to go into town for entertainment. Watch a moon rise over the Carribean while listening to Creole music amidst a tropical ocean backgdrop! This resort is great for divers as it offers transportation every day from the resort to the beautiful crystal water keys, Aquarium and Haynes Cay. The Sea Garden diving academy is really near to the hotel as well. A great resort!

The beautiful first-class Royal Decameron Marazul resort is far from the hustle and bustle of the town center, but only 10 minutes away from the airport. Hidden between the ocean and the jungle in the area of Orange Hill, this hotel has a spectacular beach surrounded by gardens, bars, sports areas, and all the essential luxuries. Absolutely delightful and one of the most sought-after resorts on the island, the Royal Decameron Marazul offers extraordinary quality at every day prices. It's a beauty!

Location: On a man-made beach, 15 minutes from downtown, restaurants, nightclubs and shopping, 15 minutes from the airport.

The No No hotell

I was really looking forward to this trip to san andres. I was told that marazul was the best decameron hotel in the island: what a desilusion. Terrible experience, poor service, no internet (you have to pay for it and only works in the lobby). Everything is NO NO NO. They staff doesnt make things easy and you end up feeling like a monkey, to sat the least. This hotel should really look into improving their service or accept being demoted to a 2 star hotel. Very sad. Will never come back here.

Good Hotel but many things to improve

If you are looking for a luxurious resort like the ones in Caribbean, then don’t come to San Andres; this is a lovely little island that offer very good old style accommodation. This Hotel is apparently one of the best in the island but nothing luxurious. The rooms are spacious but with old fashioned style, we had a problem with the toilet as it wasn’t flashing properly and the bathroom was very smelly. Someone came to fix it but basically we were told that the yellow water was normal. Also, the water pressure in the shower was really low. The buffet food was really good even better that the one from the “A la carte restaurant” The cocktails were really nice specially the one called San Andres. We didn’t try the pool but it looked nice. The beach is good for sunbathe but not to go inside the water, that is why the Hotel offer to take the guest for free to the “Cayo Acuario” where you can enjoy a beautiful beach and crystal clear water while you swim with the fishes. If you want a relaxing holiday come to Mar Azul as it is in a very quiet area, far from the centre. If you need to go to the centre you need to take a taxi that will cost you $15.000 (colombian pesos) Also, you need to pay for Wifi, we paid $30.000 (colombian pesos) for 12 hours. In regards of the staff unfortunately the only nice lady is the one that is the pier bar, I think her name is Mary, the rest are really rude and if you need to ask information don’t expect them to be nice or smile.Overall is a good Hotel but it is a shame that Decameron hasn’t invested money to refurbish it and make it more appealing to International Tourists that will expect same quality as the Hotel in the Caribbean.

Nice experience

I was with my wife at this resort five days, everything was very good, the food was buffet style, "everything you can eat", also the beverages, "everything you can drink", people at the place is very nice and polite, the shows at night are cool and funny. The beach is very small and there's no much sand, but the view is awesome and the sea is very beautiful, near there is a mangrove where you can sail by kayaking. Downtown is 15 minutes near. The rooms are big and quite, the air conditioning is good but little noisy, and the plumbing needs to be fixed, sometimes water flows out through the floor. Another not so good thing, if you want to eat something different in another restaurant with a menu, you will need to wake up very early to get a ticket. This is an excellent place for family vacation but it needs effort to be perfect.

Rude staff, always the same food.

Too many things to improve: most of the staff was rude, the food was always the same, the drinks were subpar, hotel beach is unusable, toilet tank take hours to fill, no security box, horribly slow wifi (paid) and very slow mobile phone data in the hotel.

There are many things to improve

There are A LOT of things to improve! The rooms need reform ASAP! Mold and stains all around the rooms, and the smell is horrible ( specially in the bathroom). The toilet seat is not totally flushing, a lot of pee residues are making a horrible smell! The light is entering the room from the porch as there is no curtain in the door. VERY IMPORTANT: DONT GO INTO THE WATER in the beach of the hotel! Is full of jellyfish! However, there are many positives sides to the hotel, the pools are amazing and the food as well. The bed itself ate really comfortable and they contrast with the incredibly smelly room. I would definitely go back to the hotel if the improvements were achieved! Good luck! ~luana
