Jaco is a town past its prime. If you want a quick place to land and get your bearings it's got great food and great staff. Drinks and snacks all day and safe very safe for kids. The town is all about tourism an d tours and buying stuff. It is not a true picture of Costa Rica or the wonderful people. Very little happening in CostaRica in term of environmental ethics. It is an advertising ruse. Good parks but no general ethic shared by the ticos in town outside of tourist zones
I booked Best Western Jaco for proximity to San Jose airport on our way down the pacific on a spring break surfing extravaganza and was quite put out on their front desk procedures. I booked a room online beforehand and stayed the first night. three people for less than 200 dollars. We checked in late in the afternood and left just after at sunrise the next morning. On return, we decided to make the drive back up from Dominical and when we returned, they wanted to charge us triple the cost of the first night. I asked to speak to a manager and she insisted she could not give us the previous rate of 5 nights because I did not book online. They had plenty of availability and I felt it was rediculous. Needless to say, we went down the street and found a wonderful boutique hotels just steps away from the life of Jaco,
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Best Western between January 29- February 5 and we had an awesome time! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the hotel was clean and well kept, the food was excellent (a little repetitive at times- but still really good). We stayed in a standard room but it was on the far side of the resort on looking the beach and an empty lot. It was quiet and the housekeeping showed up every day to clean our room. The beach is probably the best part of this resort... I can't even describe the views... I've attached photos. The tide comes in 4 times a day and the BW is situated fairly close to the end of the cove, with the exception of a few condos- so it's an incredible walk to the cliffs during low tide. We saw wild macaws everyday and one even landed at the edge of the pool! There are also kapuchen monkeys at the far end of Jaco beach on the mountain- just incredible! If you're into hiking and exploring, you always find so much in Costa Rica. A few things that we didn't know prior to booking this trip- there is no smoking on the entire resort. You have to walk to the gates of the hotel or to the beach to smoke. Also, the first week of February was the last week of summer holidays for Costa Rica. So.... there were families everywhere. The BW is family oriented but it was packed with kids who were allowed at the beach bar well after 11 pm.We really had an incredible vacation :) The weather was hot... about 32°C daily, no rain...barely a cloud in the sky! Keep in mind there are no palm trees or cabanas on the beach- so its easy to get a sunburn if your not careful :)Definitely recommend this hotel- Thanks to the staff for a wonderful stay!
Location is great, facilities are good, staff are friendly. Its an older property that for the most part is kept in very good condition. Food is good large choice. Room 510 ac doesn't work well and the elevator is iffy. Needs some updating with new windows and a new ac system. Part of the room is cold part is hot. Adjoining rooms had to pound on the adjoining door to tell the neighbours to shut up at 1am???? Glad we tried it. Enjoyed the food but won't stay here again.
I travelled with three friends to Costa Rica Feb. 26 to Mach 5 and stayed at Best Western Jaco Beach. The location is ideal for adventure trips to some great national parks to explore. The hotel is small with only buffet, but the food was amazing. The menu changed up every day and plenty of selection. Every inch of the complex was kept immaculate and all the staff were friendly and outgoing. During the week, it is fairly quiet and very relaxing. It got a little busier on the weekend, but never felt over crowded. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, well maintained place for a good price. And while you are in Costa Rica, make sure you take in Monte Verde, some local national parks, some zip lining, and the beautiful beaches.
