Relaxing spot on the beach

Great location right on Jaco beach with surf lessons, a couple pools ( one with a swim-up bar), open-walled restaurant facing the beach, nice simple rooms. Drinks available all day, with 3 buffet style meals served. The food was OK but not the best, you;ll want to check out some of the local restaurants for sure. Had a problem with a shower head falling off, and brown water running for a minute in the bathroom.

Costa Rica is beautiful and if you plan to adventure a lot Morgans Cove is ok

The room was fairly clean. Furnishings are not in great shape. It is not well maintained but it did seem that updates were being done as we were leaving. The casino is closed, which was a bummer. Food was average. Our breakfast was included in the room and was good. I would not recommend all inclusive unless you want to drink a lot only at the resort. Bar tenders/servers are very nice. Probably the nicest you will encounter at the resort. Go into town for dinner. It is walking distance by beach or road and has lots of choices for food, shopping and entertainment. There are tons of activities around that are amazing. There is a hike up the mountain walking distance from the resort that was great (and free). Nothing about Costa Rica is inexpensive, but it is definitely worth visiting. There were many families at the resort and a relaxed atmosphere. I am not sure what classifies a "resort" but this seemed more of a hotel to us. My son rented a surf board in town for the week and enjoyed the surfing. The weather was great!! (The safe did not work in our room which is why the below score on room security)

Nice resort

The resort was nice, not anything too special. It is right on the beach which is very convenient. The food was pretty good. The rooms were about average. But overall it's a pretty nice place for the money.

Costa Rica is beautiful, hotel.. not so much

The only thing that made this trip amazing was the location!Costa Rica is BEAUTIFUL !!! I recommend visiting this fabulous country, as it will take your breath away. As for the hotel.. I was so disappointed. After doing research, i decided to go with Morgans Cove because it offered a lot of great amenities, location, casino and it was reasonably priced. Well.. we found out that a lot of the things promised on the website were not true. Rooms: Beds are uncomfortable. Outdated and old good AC wifi in room, sometimes slow limited tv options Ran out of water ( Yes, in mid shower no water.. had to wait until morning) Limited hot water However, I wasn't in Costa Rica to stay in my hotel room, so i didn't mind that the room wasn't the nicestHotel:- Old, most of the time people were always doing maintenance such as painting or fixing tiles - No casino ( this was a big let down, one of the reasons we booked here) - Promised free surf lesson, but apparently only certain rooms come with this. - prices changed everyday, one person would say things are one price and another person would say no.. seemed like no one knew what was going on. Got ripped off a lot for money -Poor organizational skills between Air Transat and hotel staff.. no one knew what times things were happening at for ex dinner times Food: AWFUL.. spent money in Jaco to buy a good meal. Not sure why i bought all inclusive Jaco: Cute little town, really enjoyed that you could walk there Surf lessons: - Only good part of the hotel.. really enjoyed them. Rented a board almost everyday to surf. - was told lessons came with booking of hotel.. but then told had to pay $40 a person but then surf instructor charged $50.... Bar: -Some of the staff is really nice. An older gentleman though on my last day was very rude to me. Not sure if he was tired from new years, but he was very rude. I asked for drinks and he refused me saying i wanted too many drinks. Considering Jaco is plus 32-34 everyday, i should be able to have as many glasses of water that i like. Air Transat Excursions: OVER PRICED paid $133 CAD to go to Manuel Antonio national park just to have my tour guide walk around on his cell phone all day. Then for lunch, the tour guides sat and ate their meal with us like it was a double date. Nothing against the gentlemen.. they were very kind. But not sure if the cost was so much because i pay for the drivers and tour guides meal as well..Not worth $133. Overall, Costa Rica is beautiful. Would I go back? YESWould i stay at Morgans Cove.. HELL NO!

Second visit to Morgan's Cove

Great location and 'all inclusive' value resort. The all inclusive buffets are simple without large selection but the food was always good with always selection of meat (port or beef) with chicken or fish and buffet breakfast included omelet bar.The rooms were clean and air conditioning worked well. The hotel is located on the southern part of the beach and is a short walk to the main street where all types of restaurants and souvenir shops could be found as well as several ATMs and supermarkets. The hotel has recently undergone some property improvements around the beach pool. All staff were friendly.
