We stayed at this hotel from Feb 10 to 17 2017. The weather was sunny and hot the whole week...very pleasant. There was no entertainment and, if they have a casino, it was closed. The service at the hotel is quite good. Jose and Marlen the bartenders are very attentive and work quite hard. Angy and Crystel are not only bartenders, but they also serve food, clean the restaurant and clear out the tables. They were absolutely fantastic. There was also another server that was good but unfortunately I can't remember her name. There is only one restaurant but the food is very good. We're not fussy eaters so we had no issues with the choices. There are only 2 bars, pool and beach. The pool bar closes at 6pm while the beach bar closes at 11pm. We arrived late at the hotel and a drink would have been nice. Good thing we brought some wine with us. We didn't have an updated room but, to be fair, our room was a place to crash and have showers. We had an issue with the air conditioner and the hotel staff was in my room within 10 minutes to fix the problem. The curtains are not thick so you might want to bring night shades to sleep. There is wifi over most of the hotel but, in our room, I had to be close to the balcony. This hotel is right on the beach and very close to town (10 minute walk). The prices in town (restaurants, souvenirs, etc.) are not that great but you have to keep in mind that the cost of living is very similar to the US or Canada. The beach is ok, with some rocks between you and the water but it was not a big deal. I brought water shoes which I hardly wore. The water is quite warm and, if you like waves, you will be impressed...very similar to Puerto Vallarta. The pools are also quite warm but we prefer to spend our time at the beach. One complaint I do have is with the pool and beach chairs. They are uncomfortable and half of them have the seats broken. If you want unbroken chairs you will have to get up early to reserve them with your towel. I recommend bringing a pillow or an inflatable mattress to sit on. Also keep in mind that all the beaches are public so there are locals that wander through. While in town on our second day, we decided to stop by a small fast food place to have tacos. They were absolutely wonderful. The next day we went to the Morales Grill restaurant where I ordered the filet mignon. It was nervy and I'm not convinced it was even beef but probably horse meat. To be fair, that section of the menu call it "red" meat, not beef. We did an excursion to the Manuel Antonio National Park and our guide Michael was very friendly and knowledgable. I was a little disappointed in that, in order for you to see most of the animals, you have to look through a telescope that your guide brings along. You will see more monkeys and racoons when you get to the beach of the park. They will come right up to you and steal your belongings if you are not careful. The hotel is at least 1.5 hours from the airport, longer if there is traffic. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will probably return. Not sure we'd do 2 weeks at this hotel but it was a pleasurable experience none the less.
Nice place with good security, stayed in a Pool side room, which had two beds and large bathroom. The rooms were clean and quiet except some afternoons the music at the pool bar was way too loud for the sound system. The resort itself is dated but clean and well kept. Breakfast was included and very good. I stayed there for 4 nights. The front desk employees were good to average and most of the guests were European or French Canadian with some from the USA. My only complaint was that the room phone didn't work and neither did my friend's in the adjacent room. I spoke to the desk girl and she made a few calls and said the phone was working now. It wasn't. I spoke to her again and she said someone would be there some to check the phone but they never showed. I went back to the desk and she offered to change my room but I had already unpacked so I continued to stay in the room. Can't understand why this wasn't taken care of. The price for the room was $93 and the location of the resort was away from the noise in Jaco so all in all I liked the place. The phone situation baffles me as to why after they knew about it wasn't addressed but besides that I would say its a nice place, fairly priced and has 3 pools and is on the beach, so I would recommend it especially for the price.
We went there on the week of January 16, 2017 without any expectations and we got deceived. The resort is old and dead (there isn’t any ambiance). There are NO shows/entertainments. The rooms are acceptable, the buffet is very small and has limited options (one kind of salad, rice…).Even though the food taste better than Cuba but don’t expect to have a wide selection like in a Cuban resorts. For coffee lovers, there is only one kind of regular coffee, don’t expect to have an espresso or cappuccino on the resort. The resort is understaffed, the same employee would be working at the bar and buffet at the same time so you will have to be patient when ordering drinks. The beach is rocky but really nice. Hope this review would help you all.
5 stars - Huge surf waves for surfers. Amazing sunsets. Beautiful birds on crocodile river shores. Diverse Costa Rica forest with the rare Mariposa butterfly and small monkeys.4 stars - 3 clean pools (one with integrated bar). Many different well prepared alcoholic drinks. Personnel friendly and aims to please. One à la carte diner. Grounds well maintained.3 stars - Not enough variety at buffet and small desert portions. No entertainment, only background music at diner. Bed covers used, lamp shades coming apart, etc.2 stars - River next to resort flows to ocean and brings broken dishes, glass, ceramic, etc. and both side of highway are lined with garbage.1 star - Shore with rocks and garbage, bottles, caps, cigarettes, bags, food, etc.Note: Casino closed for two month's renovations.
Rooms were clean and air conditioned, most of the staff were friendly. Only 1 restaurant, with very limited selection. No activities or entertainment at all. Beach is mainly for surfing ($$), big waves and no option of any other water sports or life jackets. Rocky patches, so shoes are needed to get on/off the beach. Public beach, so no shade or chairs etc on the beach. No monkeys at this resort.... just sayin..... I was disappointed in this!It is walking distance from town.Beautiful sunsets!
