Morgans Cove Resort & Casino

Stayed one week January 8-15, 2017. Enjoyed the beach and the town with local flavor, however, the resort could use some upgrading. General maintenance is ongoing daily but no major renovations appear to be ongoing. Casino does not exist but you may choose to be transported free to another casino in town. Food lacked variety and was at least filling. Drinks were average. Beach is close but chairs are limited and basic. Will probably return to Costa Rica but not this hotel.
This is an older hotel/resort and is showing it's age a bit. The staff are the bomb! They are supurb at what they do. The staff are very fast a fixing the infrastructure. The food was local fare and was great! The bar staff were professional at all times and made our stay enjoyable. The only down side was no fridge in the room for my meds. They reception staff allowed me to keep it in their fridge.
The hotel is a bit run down, however if you need anything they are quick to respond. This resort is right on the beach and has very easy access to town. The meals were standard and the wait staff was quick to help get a drink as soon as they saw us walk in. The large round pool was nice(there are 4 pools on the property - 2 kiddie pools), this too is a bit old and has paint off in some areas. But the pool was clean and looked after, the tiki bar was a good relief from the hot sun. When all the lounge chairs were occupied the staff went to the beach area and carried 2 back for me. So the staff is very attentive and helpful.I also played tennis there and the court was in the shade and we were able to rent equipment for $5 USD, very reasonable. They do recommend that you book the court 24 hours in advance, which we did not know but it was available for us when we went to the front desk. There is also a volleyball area that is well kept and clean, massage tables on the upper level of the dinning area that overlooks the beach (beautiful to do at sunset) and surf lesson within the resort. The resort has put a lot of options to do different things for the guests. It is very easy to wake up and do something without the pre planning at this resort.
Guards eye you as if you could be doing something wrong the whole time; front desk and guards unapologetically rude to my groups and other groups staying; black tinged water one day from sink & toilet
Our 1st week in Costa Rica was staying at this resort..the room was in a perfect spot..1st pool, away from the bar. Air conditioner worked GREAT..actually chilly, but sleeping was great.Breakfast was included each day..great to having that 1st meal and then running around beach, town or going away for the day. It's a buffet..but I can't figure out why they don't let you get your own instead of having ONE person serve each person..this only makes the lines long. The resort REALLY needs to get new, and more, lounge chairs. They are all broke (very few were not) and there are not enough for beach or pool areas! 2nd half of trip was spent heading south and into Panama!
