We stayed in the standard rooms around the big pool and we loved this hotel. The rooms need some updating but they are clean and really spacious. The gardens along the river are very beautiful. The new owners are really doing a good job with the gardens and the restaurant food is amazing. I took 2 surf lessons and this was the highlight of my trip. Ricardo is a excellent teacher. We can walk to the town and the area is quiet and safe. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to learn to surf and eat great food.
We spent a week here, with a 16 person group, ages 9months-66 years old. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the resort was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, with a range to choose from on the buffet. It was right on a perfect segment of the public beach, and provided space for "the littles" to dig in the sand while the older grandkids (and adults) took turns jumping in the waves. Also an excellent location to try out surf lessons, as the waves were accessible and not too overwhelming. The two pools (each with a smaller kids' pool) were great focal points for relaxing when not on the beach -- and each had shade spots that we could seek out during the hotter times of the day. The fact that there was NOT a night club, or casino, was EXACTLY what we were looking for -- and since the sun sets at 5:30pm, it was easy to have quiet time for the kids at age-appropriate times. Thanks, BBR, for the perfect location for our first trip to Costa Rica and Jaco!
Everyone there was always smiling, super kind with us! The place is beautiful, it's even next to the beach, which is really awesome. The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5/5 is the wifi that needs improvement. But honestly, the employees are what makes it nice to be there. They did special things for us which is really appreciated.
We stayed at this place with my extended family which were 9 adults and 7 children ages 10 mo. to 14 yrs. We loved it! It was right on the beach but also had 4 outdoor pools, one with a swim-up bar. Two of the pools were shallow toddler/little kid pools --and when our younger ones weren't playing for hours in the sand, they were in the pools. Our older kids took some surfing lessons right on our beach. We had the all-inclusive package, which included three meals a day and unlimited drinks. The food was very good. We especially loved the fish. Good coffee, tea, fresh fruit juice too! The staff was wonderful! It is a small enough place that you get to know the people working there fairly quickly, and they took the time to learn some of our younger kids' names too. They were super helpful and very friendly. Most of them speak English but also humor you if you're wanting to try your Spanish.Apparently, they've changed ownership in the last year or so. It is not a casino resort anymore, so don't come looking for that! If you want a relaxing place to hang out with good food and beach, and especially if you want a place to be with your young children to have lots to do, this is the place for you!If you just stay in town, from the Beach Break hotel, it's about a 15 minute walk into town where you can find ATM's, shopping, food, etc.
The service is incredible. The food is really good even if it is simple. The wi-fi should be ameliorate, because it is not working all time and it is not working everywhere. Also, the wi-fi is not really good in the rooms. Everything is clean :) I would give a 4.5/5
