My best friend and I recently traveled to Jaco and stayed at Morgan's Cove. The first night we got there, the reception was closed and we had to sign in at the gate (something I wish they would have mentioned but we got our room very easily). The rooms were very clean and spacious. You could say the rooms were a bit outdated, but this is Jaco, not Fiji. Either way, the resort was very accommodating and honestly, really relaxing! During our stay, there was not many tourists which was fantastic because it made the stay that much less crowded. The restaurant had the most beautiful view of the ocean and it was great to hear it as you get an hour deep tissue massage. Food was of course delicious, but would always have the same items on the menu. So there wasn't much variety there. Either way, there are always other options in the center in Jaco. The staff was absolutely THE BEST! They were so friendly during out stay helped explain our benefits, since we went through Groupon. The beach area was pretty rocky but nothing too bad to where you could not lay down comfortably. We were able to find a nice spot that was clean, no rocks, and chill. The thing that I loved most about is was not completely populated by tourists. All in all, we are two American non-stop working women who got to experience a very beautiful and relaxing time. We do recommend the hotel as a small hidden getaway and you do get an awesome experience for a reasonable price.
We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of the resort at the time we went there (the end of rainy season). It rained a few days but was sunny for most of the day. The rooms were very clean and virtually insect free which was a surprise to me. There were a few mosquitoes around but not bothersome. We actually did not even use the repellent we brought. The resort is older but they are working on renovating some of the areas. Service was excellent at all times during our week stay. Everyone seemed to enjoy helping in what ever way they could - it makes you feel really special.Although there is a small casino, the resort was very quiet when we were there. During the week there were less than 10 couples although the weekends were a little busier. The restaurant has excellent dishes including a good, free breakfast. At times, we were the only ones there but always had good service. Tipping is not expected since it is calculated into the bill, but we always left a small tip especially with the free breakfast. Our menu for lunch/dinner had many excellent choices which were not included, but not that expensive. I do not think there were separate menus for the inclusive meals since our bill nearly always came as no-charge and they would have to redo it so we could pay. Although we ate at the resort several times, we enjoyed going to the town for dinners or lunches with a nice selection of restaurants with some very high class (and relatively expensive). Jaco beach is a medium brown sand when dry and dark when wet. Kids and families playing ball looked like they were mud wrestling! The beach was quite clean with no debris or trash as some reviews indicate. Perhaps they are cleaning it, but mostly people seem to be picking up after themselves. The rivers emptying into the beach area seem clean enough also. We enjoyed the wide beach and small waves. We recommend the $30/hour massages in the town area vs at the resort. They were great and relaxing.
We spent 3nights at Morgans Cove as part of an all inclusive groupon package. It was a very cheap deal, and thus we decided to stay here over the more luxurious resorts. Firstly the positives - the staff here are amazing, very attentive and friendly. We spent a lot of time at Mojitos bar and the guys there were the best part of the hotel. The resort is located on the south end of the beach, good location and en easy 10min stroll into town. The pools at the resort are quite nice, and the grounds have been kept immaculate. The beach is disappointing, dirty, rocks and shells everywhere, along with downtown. The Main Street is busy, dirty and a repeat of shops. As for the resort cons - it definitely could use a face lift, the rooms are old and run down, the tiles you walk around the resort on are slippery and a definite hazard. As part of our groupon we had ALL INCLUSIVE but the menu for food was so poor! 3 choices for dinner, 4 choices for lunch. We paid and ate out a couple of times just for some variety, thus not getting out value for our groupon. The most disappointing thing was the false advertising though. We read everywhere that the casino was open from 2pm daily... it opened at 4pm Sunday and Tuesday and didn't open at all on Monday. Likewise with the pool swim up bar, it was open yet unmanned on Sunday then not open at all on Mon and Tues. This is a big part of why we came here... convenience and a resort experience. Yet we did not receive this. We each had a massage upstairs and it isn't worth the money. Stroll into town for a firmer, better one at half the price.Overall we were quite disappointed with our stay here, would not come back. If I returned to Costa Rica I would go to another beach area (not Jaco) 😊
Landscaping was lush and green.Room needed several repairs. Bed was uncomfortable. The room had a general feeling that it had no been well maintained and was in decline. Food was uninspired. The mostly adult pool was clean and had welcome shade.
Stayed this past week with my friend. Very much need a facelift which I saw they are working on. The staff is very pleasant. The pools were warm and inviting. The beach is quite rocky so I couldn't enjoy the sands on my feet but if one is a surfer then it's your place to go. Hot water in the shower is a plus. The strip is not far, walking distance. The food is less desirable and we purchased the all inclusive. But they have two menus and I feel the one that you pay for probably is better. None the less we were there for 3 nights and it just became our sleeping grounds because we were out and about most of the time. I do hope they upgrade the rooms, grounds, and menu as the location is perfect.
