Bahia Del Sol
- What's Included
We have stayed at Bahi del Sol in the past and it is a nice hotel with a good restaurant. However, we usually rent a condo since we stay for an extended period of time.We eat here at least once during our stay. We also go to the pool bar for drinks a few times. We were there 2 weeks ago, drinking and watching the sunset. We decided to go there last night and were informed we had to pay $50 each to use the pool. When we explained we would just sit at the pool bar for a few drinks, we were told we needed to spend a minimum of $15 each. Since it was happy hour, we could not possibly drink that much. We left. I could understand if the hotel was full, but there wasn't anyone there.
My wife, me and our two kids (ages 14 and 11) stayed here for a week in a family suite. The room was great - one bedroom and bath with a queen bed and then another bedroom with two twin beds and a bath plus a kitchen (with a full size refrigerator) and sitting area. The resort was smallish and that was terrific. Didn't feel like a factory. Breakfast was included in our price and that was a nice touch (fresh fruit plus nice selection). Beach was very nice (although the sand is more brownish / black, not a white sand beach). The staff was super friendly and when we had anything to fix, they immediately made it better. Would recommend this place to anyone.
My family and I recently returned from a 4 night stay at Bahia del Sol.Pros: The staff was friendly and courteous--Gabriela and Angeleo (wait staff?). The beach was quiet, at one time I counted only 23 people as far as I could see. Nice wave break for boogie boarding. Nice to have a separate sleeping area for adults and kids. The outdoor area of the Suite was spacious and comfortable. Near by mini market was great for purchasing beer/coffee. The grounds were nicely manicured and inviting. They had a full moon party with grilled meats and corn, etc...the best food we had our entire stay.Cons: Our room was loud from street noise and the restaurant right outside our window. The furnishings in our particular suite were tired and worn, as well as the kitchenette furnishings. I believe they are undergoing some renovations, alas our room had not been done. The breakfast selection was nice on day one, okay on day two, tired on day three (a daily special might be a nice option). The plastic beach chairs were more broken than not--we used rocks to keep the seat backs up. The beach water, while a pleasant temperature, was murky from the waves mixing up the sand. There was no hot tub Jacuzzi that was hot. Not a 3.5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination.summarized-meh- some good, some not so good-nothing horrible-not so sure I would recommend.
We stayed here for a week and hated to check out. The friendly employees really make the place. It is not a huge hotel which is a plus. The beach is beautiful and the grounds are lush with beautiful tropical foliage. The breakfast menu was varied and the food great each morning. My wife and I loved the location being so close to Playas del Coco, Flamingo, and Tamarindo. The restaurants in the area are really good, and many within walking distance. Try the snickers cheesecake at Castillo across the street, unreal!
There was a major mess up between our travel agents and this hotel, resulting in a very disappointing standard room which we refused to accept. We finally spent 2 nights in a suite - very nice - and 1 night in two of the refurbished rooms which was even better. The staff were really nice and most apologetic (they needed to be!). Food in the restaurant was good and not noticeably more expensive than most of the other restaurants in the area. The hotel is right by the beach, but as this wasn't particularly nice we didn't spend much time there, other than walking along it early in the morning. The hotel grounds were well tended and the pool was cleared of leaves a couple of times a day at least. It would seem the hotel management have been taking notice of negative reviews made on various travel sites as it was much better than we had feared!
