Coco Beach Hotel & Casino
- What's Included
Stayed at the Coco Beach with friends for the weekend and we weren't satisfied at all. Not everything was bad though. When we arrived we were greeted with delicious drinks and friendly staff, unfortunately our satisfaction didn't last long because when we entered the room we found dirty sheets with holes in them and our shower didn't work. After we went to get maintenance they "fixed" our shower but hardly any water was coming out, so again we went to get help and that time they finally fixed the problem. The pool wasn't very clean and a couple of times the lights in the room kept flickering on and off or didn't work at all.Besides this, the staff was always friendly and helpful, too bad that the hotel itself isn't in good shape. For breakfast we had the typical option and although we had to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive, it was very good in taste and presentation.
Stayed at Coco Beach Hotel Restaurant & Casino 25 February to 4 March 17.First of all the Hotel is more of a Motel. The rooms are nothing special but the AC worked and the bedding/towels etc were clean. The only issue was that the shower area had a buildup of mold/mildew but that was rectified by a quick trip to the grocery for some cleaner. Was not an issue worth complaining about. If you have seen any of my other reviews I am not all that hard to please. I don't travel for fancy rooms but to enjoy the beach weather and culture. Staff at the hotel were all great and we were well looked after.I traveled with 4 family members/2 rooms. The hotel is centrally located on the main strip at Coco. There are a variety of restaurants/bars on the strip and only a 5 min walk to the beach. It is a beach town so expect to see a lot of shops selling kitschy souvenirs and such.Food was great no matter where we ate. We sampled a couple of the Sodas as well as the hotel restaurant and others. Food in CR is pricey but you can get a decent meal for a good price at the Sodas. The main restaurants are more expensive. You should budget for about $30 USD per day for food per person or more if you like to have a few drinks. My only disappointment personally was for a country that is known for it's coffee it was difficult to find a decent cup. There is a guy across the road from the hotel who roasts coffee daily that you can get a good cup from and also purchase some to take home. I took 2 bags.I recommend Playas del Coco for a reasonably quiet and laid back Sun escape. We also went to San José for 2 days = not recommended. I will write a separate review for that trip.Note. DO NOT buy food at the airport on the way home! It is prohibitively expensive. We had 2 bagels w cream cheese and 2 coffees - USD 26.00. There is a nice little bakery in Coco that we went to for breakfast each day so you could get some pastries the day before to take to the airport.
I have read the reviews before i made my booking to stay here,im sure glad i didnt listen to those winers that have nothing better to do than complain.the management & staff were exceptional,my room was always clean lots of hot water 7 english channels on t.v. food was excellent, the pool was always clean i had the privilage of staying at this hotel for 1 month and i would recamend this hotel to anyone.about the music across the street you dont like it then get up and go join them your there to have fun these people that complain check your own back yard first. On a scale of 1 - 10 i give this hotel 9.9 because their is no such thing as a TEN come on trip advisor this hotel is a 4 star plus in my books
A friend and I stayed for the last week in January. First let me say the staff was INCREDIBLE. I just don't get the complaints I've read in some of the other posts. Also incorrectly stated is the price of breakfast. A continental breakfast of fruit etc is included in the price of your room. If you want the American style which is bacon, eggs, toast juice and potatoes, coffee the cost was 1000 colones. That is a whopping two dollars. The wait staff was very attentive, filling coffee cups and willing to substitute rice and beans for the potatoes each morning ....NO PROBLEM. BTW 1000 colones = $2.00 US. The staff is fully dressed and running around to keep you satisfied ( thank you Adrian, Gloria, Fabiana, Jorge and others) and yet very few people tipped. Might I suggest you leave a ??? each morning with your breakfast. The front desk staff ( Iveth and Katherine) could not have been nicer and eager to help. I had many many questions and they always answered with a smile and knowledge of the local area. We caught Tuna one day and brought back fillets for the staff and to have some for dinner. The Chef only charged us a meager plating fee and that was because he added some side dishes. He made one of the best tuna tartars I've ever had and he cooked some of the other fillets four different ways. We were embarrassed because we couldn't eat the whole meal. The manager lives on site and and everything is kept running smoothly. We stayed in room 207 because we wanted a quiet room with two beds and a fridge. No view but we weren't there to hang out in the room. A special thanks to Aida for keeping the room neat as both my friend and I made a mess. Again we left 1000 colones a day for her, just as I would leave something in the USA. The hotel is a little bit aged, but it is kept clean. The AC and fridge worked fine, we never turned on the TV. The bar is reasonably priced. I typically stay off the grid but the staff made me happy to be there. You are in the center of town and an easy walk to the beach or the supermarket and the various eateries. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
My friend and I stayed there for a week in Jan 2017 and were pleasantly surprised by how much the hotel service and staff had improved since my last visit 2 years ago. The service was excellent and all the staff were exceptionally cordial and professional (including reception, waiters, bar tenders, maids, night guard, etc) as they took care of all our needs in a timely and friendly fashion. The room was very clean, comfortable, quiet, and secure. The hotel has an excellent location in the center of town and within easy walking distance of shops and beach.
