Coco Beach Hotel & Casino
- What's Included
A friend and I stayed for the last week in January. First let me say the staff was INCREDIBLE. I just don't get the complaints I've read in some of the other posts. Also incorrectly stated is the price of breakfast. A continental breakfast of fruit etc is included in the price of your room. If you want the American style which is bacon, eggs, toast juice and potatoes, coffee the cost was 1000 colones. That is a whopping two dollars. The wait staff was very attentive, filling coffee cups and willing to substitute rice and beans for the potatoes each morning ....NO PROBLEM. BTW 1000 colones = $2.00 US. The staff is fully dressed and running around to keep you satisfied ( thank you Adrian, Gloria, Fabiana, Jorge and others) and yet very few people tipped. Might I suggest you leave a ??? each morning with your breakfast. The front desk staff ( Iveth and Katherine) could not have been nicer and eager to help. I had many many questions and they always answered with a smile and knowledge of the local area. We caught Tuna one day and brought back fillets for the staff and to have some for dinner. The Chef only charged us a meager plating fee and that was because he added some side dishes. He made one of the best tuna tartars I've ever had and he cooked some of the other fillets four different ways. We were embarrassed because we couldn't eat the whole meal. The manager lives on site and and everything is kept running smoothly. We stayed in room 207 because we wanted a quiet room with two beds and a fridge. No view but we weren't there to hang out in the room. A special thanks to Aida for keeping the room neat as both my friend and I made a mess. Again we left 1000 colones a day for her, just as I would leave something in the USA. The hotel is a little bit aged, but it is kept clean. The AC and fridge worked fine, we never turned on the TV. The bar is reasonably priced. I typically stay off the grid but the staff made me happy to be there. You are in the center of town and an easy walk to the beach or the supermarket and the various eateries. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
My friend and I stayed there for a week in Jan 2017 and were pleasantly surprised by how much the hotel service and staff had improved since my last visit 2 years ago. The service was excellent and all the staff were exceptionally cordial and professional (including reception, waiters, bar tenders, maids, night guard, etc) as they took care of all our needs in a timely and friendly fashion. The room was very clean, comfortable, quiet, and secure. The hotel has an excellent location in the center of town and within easy walking distance of shops and beach.
Spent a week here Jan 18th to 25th with my 2 best friends and had a good time.Check in was friendly, quick and smooth with a nice refreshing welcome drink. Our room 206 was nothing fancy but decent and was clean. No real view from your room but why would you other than to change, shower or sleep.Very pleasantly surprised it had a small fridge with freezer as well a digital safe. Good working ACNo issues with shower pressure or water temps.Toilet flushed slow all the time. Clogged on us but we figured out how to deal with that :)No hair dryer (we did not need one)Flat screen tv with most chanels in Spanish and a few english.Coffee maker in room.Maid service was excellent every day.We had a breakfast plan included with our booking. All breakfast we had was good.We had the fruit plate one day and all fruit was tasty and nice presentation. Costa Rican breakfast was good and nicely presented. Americano was also good and nicely presented. Our breakfast server was Gloria and she was great. Very friendly and knew what we liked and was ready for us when she saw us. Pool area was nice and good sun shade mix with loungers for seating. Location was a short walk to the beach and other bars and restaurants as well as a grocery store/super mecado. Extremely loud at night into the wee hours due to bars and karaoke bar trying to drown each other out. We had no issues with the noise but i am pretty lt positive people that cannot handle this will be upset and should not consider this hotel at all. Not the hotels fault at all but we all know some people will blame the hotel for this problem which is beyond their control. If you have a rental car we just parked out front with no issues other than guys in fluorescent vests hussling for cash (everywhere we drove in this area of Costa Rica actually) to watch your car like they were official parking guys lol pay them or not it is your choice. I would not but my friend is a sucker so i let him.Overall the grounds were ok and felt safe there. They did check that we were guests so that was reassuring that they paid attention to who was entering the property. The casino was ok,won some cash. Slots and some table games and texas holdem. While not perfect it was pretty good for what we paid and I would return to the Coco Beach Hotel for the right price.
We spent our last night in Costa Rica after a 11 day vacation at Coco Beach Hotel. We did not go into the casino, partly because it turned into a hang out for prostitutes after 8:00 at night. I made our 14 year old son stay in at night for exactly this reason. However, the hotel did not feel secure either and it made nervous to leave our valuables there. Upon arrival, the staff were not friendly at all. They offered no suggestions for parking (there is none) nor allowed us to put our bags somewhere while we waited for our room to open up. They actually seemed to delight in the idea that we had to wait for a room. The welcome drinks we eventually got were very warm and tasteless. The rooms themselves have a view of the roof below. They are small and outdated with peeling paint and leaking AC. The bathroom is so small you can barely turn around in it. The pool is a nice size and many children were enjoying it. The location of the hotel is an advantage as it is right downtown with an easy walk to everything. For what we paid we expected so much more.
Me & 3 friends went in this hotel for the last day of vacation in Costa Rica. The hotel is nice but we were very disappointed due to the breakfast. We paid for the breakfast in the tariff and in the morning we understood that the kind of breakfast was the worst. If you want a normal breakfast (americano) you have to pay 5$ per each person in addiction. I believe this is not correct. Moreover please do not came here (playa coco) because nothing worth to be seen.
