Coco Beach Hotel & Casino
- What's Included
small hotel right on the coco beach main strip, the hotel it self is not that bad .the rooms are very average but comfortable. the pool is nice but not much room on the pool deck, some of the staff are very friendly and some seem like they would rather be somewhere else then there.
Very nice place for enjoying the weekend! The restaurant and the swimming pool are great! The only issue, its that it has no parking lot! The place is nearby great restaurants and the beach, which is really nice as well!
My husband and I vacationed here for a week from February 4-11, 2017, just to get away to tropical weather for good Ol' fashion R & R (and not have to worry that it'll cost a fortune). This was the perfect place for us!! It's great that it's centrally located, for an easy (couple of blocks) walk to the beach and close drive to/from the airport. The Hotel was clean and accommodating to my health condition, which was a big factor in my book! I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the hotel, staff and patrons staying there. The restaurants' food was always served hot and delicious, at a reasonable price ($4.00 for a local breakfast!) We thoroughly enjoyed sightseeing, with 'SPECIAL THANKS TO COCO CAMBRONERO" whom is an awesome, trustworthy tour guide whom really showed us the countryside & culture with his expertise. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND COCO!! (The Coco Beach Hotel staff can locate him for you...just ask) He was extremely knowledgeable of the tours, sincerely friendly which made us feel "right at home". We did not choose to do the full all-day canopy tours and what Coco took us to was perfectly relaxing, yet fun! As for doing any water activities, Captain Ney is a trustworthy local and will happily take anyone snorkeling (for a reasonable fee...remember to barter)
Stayed at the Coco Beach with friends for the weekend and we weren't satisfied at all. Not everything was bad though. When we arrived we were greeted with delicious drinks and friendly staff, unfortunately our satisfaction didn't last long because when we entered the room we found dirty sheets with holes in them and our shower didn't work. After we went to get maintenance they "fixed" our shower but hardly any water was coming out, so again we went to get help and that time they finally fixed the problem. The pool wasn't very clean and a couple of times the lights in the room kept flickering on and off or didn't work at all.Besides this, the staff was always friendly and helpful, too bad that the hotel itself isn't in good shape. For breakfast we had the typical option and although we had to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive, it was very good in taste and presentation.
Stayed at Coco Beach Hotel Restaurant & Casino 25 February to 4 March 17.First of all the Hotel is more of a Motel. The rooms are nothing special but the AC worked and the bedding/towels etc were clean. The only issue was that the shower area had a buildup of mold/mildew but that was rectified by a quick trip to the grocery for some cleaner. Was not an issue worth complaining about. If you have seen any of my other reviews I am not all that hard to please. I don't travel for fancy rooms but to enjoy the beach weather and culture. Staff at the hotel were all great and we were well looked after.I traveled with 4 family members/2 rooms. The hotel is centrally located on the main strip at Coco. There are a variety of restaurants/bars on the strip and only a 5 min walk to the beach. It is a beach town so expect to see a lot of shops selling kitschy souvenirs and such.Food was great no matter where we ate. We sampled a couple of the Sodas as well as the hotel restaurant and others. Food in CR is pricey but you can get a decent meal for a good price at the Sodas. The main restaurants are more expensive. You should budget for about $30 USD per day for food per person or more if you like to have a few drinks. My only disappointment personally was for a country that is known for it's coffee it was difficult to find a decent cup. There is a guy across the road from the hotel who roasts coffee daily that you can get a good cup from and also purchase some to take home. I took 2 bags.I recommend Playas del Coco for a reasonably quiet and laid back Sun escape. We also went to San José for 2 days = not recommended. I will write a separate review for that trip.Note. DO NOT buy food at the airport on the way home! It is prohibitively expensive. We had 2 bagels w cream cheese and 2 coffees - USD 26.00. There is a nice little bakery in Coco that we went to for breakfast each day so you could get some pastries the day before to take to the airport.
