Hotel Tamarindo Diria - EXCELLENT VACATION!

My husband and I had a terrific time at this Hotel. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Bartenders were awesome and friendly. We were extremely pleased with the 3 tours that we booked at the Tour Desk. Martino Solis, who not only picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at the end of our vacation, was a terrific tour guide. He is top-notch! I'd also like to mention, Luis the bartender and Esteban Alvarez, also one of the wonderful, friendly and awesome bartenders at the lagoon pool. Karen, our server at the Flying Bull Restaurant was terrific - we had a fabulous dinner there and she helped make our night truly wonderful and delicious! The beach and pools were wonderful as well.

The pictures don't truly represent this hotel . Amazing ocean view, the pools are incredible , the room is large and very clean . It's really beautiful and the perfect stay in Tamarindo . The breakfast is the only thing that Doesn't impress , i was expecting more , since it's such a beautiful and special place. But you eat with the ocean view, which is great .

Very nice hotel on the beach in Tamarindo.

Hotel Tamarindo Diria is the nicest hotel on the beach in Tamarindo. There are rooms with ocean views and rooms on the other side of the street near the main and adult pools. I had a room on the ocean side on the second floor. When I first arrived my room was on the ground floor but I wanted to be moved to the second floor so we could have a better view of the ocean. The ground floor is nice, but wanted to be higher. Beds are hard so had a difficult time sleeping. The staff was very accommodating. Staff is super nice and the rooms are serviced daily. The hotel offers free breakfast which offers a variety of food and you can get custom eggs dishes. The food is OK.The main pool is beautiful and the bartender very friendly. The hotel is about one hour from the airport and shuttles can be expensive. I rented a car and had no problems if you are worrying about renting a car here.Rained every day but I enjoyed the change from Los Angeles.Beautiful country and would recommend a visit to Tamarindo Diria!!!

Mostly good

My wife and I stayed here for three nights as part of our three week holiday self driving around the whole of Costa Rica. Up to this point we had been staying in Tica's so this was a bit of luxury. First the location is great with the hotel split between the sea front and the main complex across the road. The lady who served us at the check-in was really nice and explained everything very well. Sometimes you fell like you're on a check-in conveyor belt but not this time. Our room was across the road and looked out over the main pool. It was very clean and a good size with a good range of English TV channels. The pool was quiet and well maintained. The only bad experience we had was with the pool bar staff. My wife went up to order two drinks and the two guys were chatting among themselves for a good minute before turning to her and basically said "what?" in a very rude way. There was no need to that rudeness and it put a downer on the good encounters we had with the staff. Unfortunately it was the same chaps on the pool bar for the three night we were there and they didn't smile or say thank you once. Breakfast was a bum fight as others have mentioned, either get there early or late. We didn't eat in any of the hotel restaurants as they looked very expensive and had people on the entrance trying to drag you in, I hate that. Skip their steak restaurant and try the Patagonia Argentinian Grill 2 mins down the road.

will definitely need to come back!

We chose to stay at the Diria for 2 nights as an add on to a groupon vacation. My friend and I wished that we had stayed at the Diria for our the entire time we were in Tamarindo! We absolutely loved it. It's location is absolutely perfect, right in the center of everything. The beach is beautiful. The pools are amazing. The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. We had a first floor sunset view room, the view was amazing! Loved being able to wake up to the ocean-- highly recommend this room! Quite a few mosquitos in the room but that is to be expected for the location & climate. The free buffet breakfast was nothing special, but it was good. Gallo Fino for dinner one night was DELICIOUS. We got lunch one day at the pool bar from Matapalo which was really good, too. We got personal pizzas at Nari-- very yummy. Venezia had delicious gelato! We were very unhappy that Flying Bull was closed on Friday night-- we were very excited to go there-- but never got the chance. There were signs saying it would be closed on Wednesday, but nothing mentioning Friday. We spent most of our time in the scenic pool; we actually didn't even go in any of the others. Because it was low season, we had it to ourselves a lot of the time. We had so much fun at the Lagoon Bar in the scenic pool with our favorite bartender Esteban. He put a lot of effort into the drinks he made, even making flowers out of strawberries for our drinks. Everything was delicious. He taught us some Spanish and we taught him some English :) He definitely made our days special. That being said, every single staff member we met during our quick stay was so friendly and helpful. The ladies at the front desk were soo welcoming and sweet-- which I feel like I have to mention because there are so many reviews saying the opposite, but maybe those employees no longer work there! Overall, such a great experience, wish it wasn't only 2 nights! We will be back :)
