Tropical Paradise

My wife and I went to Costa Rica for a change of pace from Hawaii. We stayed for a week at the Hotel Tamarindo Diria. We booked an Ocean View room close to the beach. The resort was very nice. The room shown on the hotel website was a lot different than the room we were given, however. The room was very small. We were staying on the ground level so I assume the larger rooms were upstairs. We ate at every restaurant at the resort and all of them were great. The staff at Nari were awesome as was the wood fired pizza. The highlight of our trip was getting to know Luis. He is a bartender at the Media Luna lounge next to the ocean view pool. Luis is a very energetic, entertaining, genuinely happy individual. We would return just to see him again!! The resort also has a small Casino that you need to check out. You might get lucky!

Chillax and enjoy

We had a room across the road from the main part of the hotel, but it was no issue - the grounds were beautiful and the pool with the swim-up bar was great!A very BIG special mention to our bartender Elman, who was friendly and charming, and mixed us some great cocktails!! Love your work!!Our room was big enough for two singles - we had two queen beds and space to move around. We had no problems with the air-con, the bathroom was fine, and the maids were very obliging. In fact, we found most of the staff efficient and pleasant, from the front desk to the gardeners, and they would always return a smile. The porter Randall also deserves a mention - he helped with our bags even though we we did not ask and he was just passing by.The breakfast buffet was fine, and the choices altered a little every day. The only suggestion we have is that all the food should have covers, as the birds are very cheeky and were helping themselves to everything, especially the baked goods. Not 100% hygenic...The hotel is right on the beach, and we had a lot of fun animal-spotting in the gardens. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping options surrounding the hotel, and it was not too busy as it was the start of the wet season - we had a little rain, but also some gorgeous weather.Overall we had a very laid-back and happy experience here.

Beautiful property - Motel Rooms

The good:- Landscape is absolutely breathtaking. Go to Costa Rica for the scenery it is amazing.- Rooms were cleaned daily.-Adult only side of the resort is extremely quiet! It feels like you are the only ones there.-Pools are NEVER crowded. Great after a long day on the beach.-Sitting area by the beach is beautiful with a great view of the beach.-Breakfast is great every morning with an amazing view.-You are right in the middle of everything. Location is great for restaurants.-Surf is perfect. Walk out with your board and you are good to surf all day.The bad:-If you have been to resorts elsewhere and expect this to compare you will be disappointed.-The rooms are comparable to an older Motel 6.-The bathrooms are very very old and worn down. If it wasn't for them being cleaned daily they would be awful.-No ventilation in the bathrooms, hot water is spotty, especially at night and in the mornings.-Resort restaurants are all insanely expensive relative to what you receive.-Be prepared to be approached hundreds of times throughout your stay by people trying to sell you things. Even when you are laying on the resort property you will be approached at least 10 times an hour. -You will be offered to buy a variety of ilelgal drugs from the locals.-This is not a family vacation. If you have kids you will not feel safe taking them out to eat after dark.I will be back to surf with friends, but would never consider bringing back my wife or children.

Surf Sand n Sunsets

Beautiful beach side location. Recommend the Sunset Village OVRooms Building 10 or Standard rooms. The Lagoon / Family pool is very relaxing although you have to cross the street to get to the beach from these rooms . Love the sunsets nightly and surf town vibe with walkability access to food.

Beautiful gardens, great ocean view

My family of 4 stayed four nights here in early May. The gardens are immaculately kept with lots of small animals my kids enjoyed. Our room had ocean view, stunning for sunsets. We enjoyed body surfing in the ocean as well as the small pool near our room and the large family pool across the road. The hotel offers several restaurants. We tried: Gallo Fino (rotisserie chicken), Nari (pizza & pasta) and Matapalo (beachfront lunch terrace). We had great meals at all three and were pleased with the prices. US$10 lunches and dinners. Rooms were clean with spacious balcony and shower. Comes with mini fridge, TV, safe and hairdryer.
