Very acceptable hotel in excellent location

A big busy hotel, popular with tour groups. It's a bit impersonal but was basically fine with decent sized rooms, good views out over the city, very comfortable beds, a notice by the bath explaining how to operate the shower (helpful as hotel showers are often very counter intuitive in the way they work!), The pool was also fine though it was a bit weird that the changing room was the toilet for people with disabilities.Unable to comment on value as it was booked by our tour organisers. The hotel's great plus point is its location, just a few minutes' walk from the museums and central streets. The ground floor restaurant is nothing to write home about as far as the buffet was concerned; however a la carte dishes were well prepared and interesting. We tried to order white wine by the glass but they didn't have any (they did look, just to check!) There's a more formal restaurant on the top floor which we didn't try and which other members of our tour group reported to be good.

unsatisfactory customer service

Although in a great location, this hotel suffers from a lack of customer service. We had booked an executive room (and paid more to do so) but found that there were absolutely no benefits to doing so. The executive lounge was only stocked on our first day and when I asked about it the following days I was given different answers by each of the three people that I talked to (that they would immediately restock it - they did not; that it was never stocked on the weekends; and that it was never stocked period!). That is perhaps a minor aggravation but the real upset came with the attitude and lack of customer service offered by the front desk staff. Our woes only continued as they later messed up our billing and, yet again, treated us with great attitude. I would note that one of the people in our party had retired from working at the front desk of a Holiday Inn so we are sympathetic, if not empathetic, to that position but the attitude given, combined with the lack of paid-for benefits, made this experience unenjoyable.

A bit tired, but OK

The room was clean and spacious. Unfortunately, it's getting dated. The carpet has stains, the bathtub's enamel is wearing off, the formerly white towels are greyish. We tried to make coffee in the coffee maker, and had to do some manipulating to get it to work properly. The wall paper is starting to come off. The room staff is friendly. The location is good if you want to be downtown. We had breakfast included in our stay...the food was poor, prepared in advance and kept too long under a heat lamp. Coffee was very weak.

Great location / great service

Fourth time staying here - this Holiday Inn is always consistent! The rooms are spotless, beds comfortable, and lots of cable tv stations too. The morning buffet has something for everyone. The cafe con leche is amazing. I would definitely come back.

A has been hotel

Oh dear. We stayed here 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and again on our last night. This tired ol hotel needs modernising. The basin was cracked, the bedside light glowed all night despite being turned off. The worst of all was one of the room's bathroom floor was swimming with half an inch of water. Maintenance did come up and bail out, he worked hard to rectify a leaking cistern. We had to ask for toiletries and there was only a bath towel each in the rooms. The breakfasts were hard work because the dining room is too small. The breakfast staff were not interested. Reception was manned by one trainee. However the door staff were really helpful and the only people who came to our rescue as we had been let down over our transfer to the airport. It would appear the hotel relies on conferences and outside events. A plus point, the hotel is very central so walking was easy.
