When I was looking at reviews prior to my vacation, I was a bit worried because of the negativity I was seeing. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, these people are clearly not happy about something in their lives. Both my friend and I were so impressed with the resort and will 100% return. The food is what you can expect from Cuba (but was still OK) - if you want a luxurious 5 star meal and to eat like a King or Queen, you pay the price for it in The Bahamas, Mexico etc. Manage your expectations when you pay a low price ;) The staff at Tryp were so lovely, the beach was top notch (best beach I have ever been to) - don't understand why people complain about seaweed, ITS THE OCEAN!!! Our room was great, I had zero complaints. There are some renos being done, but difficult to even notice this was happening! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT TRYP FOR A FANTASTIC 6 DAYS!!!!!! WE WILL BE BACK SOON :)
Stayed in the deluxe units , the aiconditioning did not work. The quiet area wasn't quiet at all.The food was tasteless. The place was alive with mosquitos from the swamp. We had to buy our spices and sauces to survive the week we were there
This was our first trip to Cayo Coco and it was excellent in many ways. The room. We were given an upgrade to room 209. It was in great working order along with a ocean view. We could not have had a better room on the resort. Thanks, The food. We had excellent food with great variety there for you to enjoy. Fresh omelets, fresh seafood and meats grilled while you wait. The croquets were a pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed the food. The drinks. The beer is good and cold and with your own insulated mug, you really can enjoy it cold. The pina colada was enjoyed by my wife and there was no lack of other drinks as well. No premium drinks, but we had what we wanted. The grounds. The grounds are well kept and they work hard to keep it looking good. We loved the cats, ducks and chickens. The beach. It was with seaweed, but this is not a problem, this is the ocean. The beach is quite narrow at high tide but beautifully sandy and wide at low tide. We enjoyed a moonlit walk at low tide that was one of the highlights of the trip.Excursions. We did a few such as scuba diving. The dive centre is closing at the end of this month. That is a great loss. The team there was excellent and thorough. My wife did here first dive and we enjoyed that together. Snorkeling we did right off of the beach as there is a small coral formation to snorkel on.We also went into Moron in a 57 Chevy Belair hardtop. Nice day and met some friends while there. Great time!My wife did the spa one afternoon and could not speak highly enough of her spa treatment. Thanks Jose! For what we paid, we had a great time and would go again. Is it getting old, yes, but the staff more that make up for that. We had great service from Julio at the beach restaurant, Ricardo and Eduardo at the cafe and others whom we only wish we had their names.
After our Wedding in Ontario Canada on the waterfront of Lake Ontario we headed to Tryp Cayo Coco for our 2 week Honeymoon! Greeted with an ocean view room for first week (our choice we declined a suite as we liked building 5) then we went to the suite for 2nd week...Loved it! Beautiful, spacious, clean! The food was good as always, in fact since our last visits they have gotten a new chef and with my food allergies he personally came and spoke with me about food choices and the meals I had were delicious! steak, pork chops and rice with a nice gravy, broccoli, carrots, warm fresh dinner rolls...breakfast was fresh made eggs, or french toast, a couple of times I had the guy at the grill make me a grilled cheese! We always had plenty to eat and enjoyed what we had. We went on an excursion into Moron and Ciego de Avila which was well worth the money and we had an entire day of fun and adventures and exploring. We visited a couple of Tryp sister resorts during the day and found them to be ok, we liked the beach and food at Tryp much more than the other resorts. Even visited Playa Pilar and must say I was Very disappointed to see it is no longer a virgin beach as it was in the past, yet now filled with tourists, may as well stay at Tryp beach. We Really enjoyed the foam party, what a blast that is! so much fun!the entertainment during the day around the pool was also fun and very entertaining...if we weren't into that some days, we walked along the beach and enjoyed swimming in the beautiful clear warm ocean. We enjoyed the glass bottom boat and snorkeling. The evening entertainment was great also...Micheal Jackson show is a must see as is the aqua ballet. Friendly, accommodating staff throughout the resort! Over all we had a Fantastic Honeymoon
It has its high and low pointsStaff is great; they work really hard to keep guests happy. The hotel is old and dated.Electrical plugs; for North American travellers; beware; I haven't seen a three prong plug; for something that plugs lets say; a laptop on 120v. Come to think about it; I haven't seen a three prong plug for Caribbean 220v.The pool is great; but with the winds; it is hard to keep to pool clean. Our bidet (the 2nd dunny to wash the backside) leaked; we addressed the problem to Guest services; it was solved in 4 days, they had to find the right parts from Ciego de Avila. The toilet doesn't flush properly. It takes 5 flushes to get the waste down. The cuban concept was to take the soiled toilet paper, and place it in the trash bin; or use the bidet; so it wouldn't tax the plumbing. No issues with the shower.Cayo Coco; the island; is a tourist zone; no cuban citizens live on the island; and some must endure a two or three hour trip. They have a big enough safe to store a 13 or 15 inch laptop. They are animals on the resort. Chickens; Ducks; and Cats. The cats are friendly. We've not seen cats in the main restaurant. The buffet is pretty much basic. Coldcut meats, cheese, salad, soup, cooking stations, broken toaster.Housing staff did a superlative job.The grounds are well maintained. The beach; well; it's windy; and sea weed; keeps coming in, therefore it's impossible to maintain. The alcohol. They have no premium brands. And when I say premium brands; I'm talking about your basic; Havana Club or Santiago de Cuba(10 CUC bottle) (or 35$ CAD in Canada). Instead; it's Ron Cubay and Santerro. What this means; is depending of your alcohol intake; you could get sick quicker. So... alternative... would be beer,Fitness centre is very outdated. Mainly free weights. They need to modernize cardiovascular equipment.I think I would go elsewhere in Cayo Coco.
