Great Value Great Staff Great Atmosphere

We were a lil apprehensive before booking after reading a few negative reviews but as always we decide to make our own decisions. We will write our review based on sections. But all in all we would recommend and go back in a heartbeat if we go to Cuba again.Check in:Was very quick, friendly and very helpful. Arrived at 1030am and we were checked in and in our room, unpacked and in the pool by 11:15. Property: It is dated and some parts could use a great paint job BUT make no mistake, the property is very clean in all areas. Rooms, bars, pools, restaurants etc. Very clean. *if you are looking for a marble shiny 5 star resort with gold and not go to is a poor country and even if you pay hundreds for a 5 WILL NOT get better service or food anywhere else. Our room was lovely (stayed in bldg 2..ocean front room, king size bed, shower (tons of hot water)..very clean. Air Conditioning was so goid we turned it off for a bit at night as it was chilly. Weather did not rain at all the while week and was 80 to 94 daily. Chillier in late evening.Staff:Wow... all I can say is there was not 1 employee that did not greet you with a smile, hug, or wonderfulmhappy conversation for the whole week. Shout out to the folks we saw daily.. Eddie in snack bar and Oriental retaurant, Yuri in Buffet, Yunior is Pool bars, Santiago in Pool Bars, Oreste front desk Mgr, but these folks are only a very few..all staff are amazing ♡ Food:If you are expecting the Keg..then you will be disappointed. The food is ok..and if you cannot find something to eat you are fussy and difficult..(i say that lovingly but its true) I am as fussy as you can get.Breakfast Buffet: made to order omelettes , made fresh french toast, tons of fruits, bakery biscuits, smoothies made fresh with whatever you bring to the smoother barBuffet or Beach Snack Bars:We tried both but spent most lunches at Snack Bar as we were at beach or pool dauly and it was easier. Poutine, chicken nuggets (but were actual chicken fingers) made to order pizzas, squid, and many other choices. We had poutine and pizza daily and quite enjoyed it.Dinner: Specialty Restaurants as well as Buffet daily. You must book your daily restaurant al a carte frim 830 to 1230 am daily. GO asap as it fills up is located by the buffet entrance. We tried International and Oriental. Loved the Oriental and International was just ok for me (but i am not a big meat eater..the folks we were with quite enjoyed it.) Many folks raved about the BBQ al a carte but we did not try it.Dinner buffet was good..many choices but i went to made to order pasta station often. The bruschetta was soo delicious.Hubby went to the fresh meat grilled station and all kinds of meats available and they cooked them how you want. He also enjoyed the lasagna alot.Snack bar in lobby downstairs was open 24 hours and they had a few choices but always something to eat.Beach:OmG. Clean...warm..and amazing..thats is all! We went in a small catamaran ride. And the resort filks take you and it was great. Also took out paddleboats on ourbown and also included. Beach Bar was awesome and hopping.Pools..big pool in 3 sections..had alot of fun..2 deep sides and center only 3 feet by the swim up. There is also a kids pool and a quiet pool by buildings 9 which was quiet, no kids and no music..(bar there also) great place to chill with friends or just read..not the party area.It is a family resort but if you are young and wanna will have a great time.We found exchange at hotel better than airport. Bring canadian and exchange at either airport or hotel. Will cost more to exchange usd. We walked down the road to the market..(12 min walk) or grab a 2 or 3 peso cab.We also took the double decker bus (5 pesos for the full day) to Pilar Beach. A must see..BUT that bus stops at all resorts so the 40 min ride turns into 90..better to take a cab. Night life was fun shows and something to do. There is a disco open but most folks just have drinks in bottom section of lobby where shows are. U can make ur own fun in disco but it wasnt anything special. All in all this resort was great for the value, very clean and staff amazing !! Dont expect the world and you will have an amazing time. Photos below are ones we took ourselves.

Wonderful staff great beach, room was ok, security was not a problem, the food was always plentiful and satisfying. Enjoyed walks on the beach and off the resort. Weather was 80f with little rain usually at night.

Great time back in 2014!

Travelled to Tryp Cayo Coco in March 2014. Travelled with my husband on my reading week and we had a blast. The staff and grounds were great. The room average and the food... well it's food in Cuba. But the beach was one of the most beautiful I have ever been on! Water was warm with lots of little schools of fish and the most gorgeous powder sugar sand!We had an amazing time and met great people! The 24 hr bar never got sick of us and we had late night parties on the beach. My biggest advice is to bring some snacks from home and your own towel. Mine was stolen from a chair and I had to pay 20 dollars before they would let me leave the resort to fly home.I probably wouldn't go back to Tryp, but it's more that I get sick in Cuba then about the resort...

Friendly staff

Nice area, resort was clean but needs some maintenance, we didn't have hot or even warm water to shower all week, also paying for the upgrade experience aside from 6 ala cartes is not worth money. Staff is friendly, bars seem to need some morning help or maybe a specific coffee bar as its always a long wait for coffee due to espresso machine orders. Over all the resort was ok, but we did not feel we were getting our value for the amount we paid compared to other resorts we have visited in Cuba.
