Lot of my friends been to that same hotel and they all loved it even from 10 years ago. Yes it's old and they need some renovations but the room was clean and the food was good. Don't believe all the bad reviews. Cuba it's not luxurious so if you want that don't go there. It's cheap for a reason. Enjoy life and make the best of it!
I recently returned to Tryp with a friend for the 6th time and it was a wonderful week. Tryp is an older resort and is by no means perfect but Cuba is Cuba and your vacation will always be what you make it.I stayed in block 8 for the first time and I was happy with the room. The rooms are a little run down but it was close enough to the pool and the beach and always clean so I had no complaints. We also had the opportunity to see a model of the new rooms that the hotel will have in the next couple years and they're gorgeous I can't wait to stay in one!I find that the food at the resort is constantly improving, there is a large selection of items at the buffet and the a la cartes always have something delicious! Only 2 restaurants were open this time as it's low season but they offered different menus on different days so it was perfect. The main reasons I continuously return to this hotel are the beach and the staff. Tryp has a beautiful, clean beach with plenty of chairs/beach huts for everyone. You can walk up and down the beach to a couple other resorts and the beaches are either rocky or have no places to sit as the water comes all the way up to the bush. I can never say enough about the staff at this hotel, they're all wonderful and they all work so hard to ensure that you have a great vacation. I've never encountered a rude employee or had them demand money as others have said... if you take a minute to talk to them whether it's the maid in the morning or the waitress at the buffet you'll quickly learn that they're all such kind happy people and they'll always go above and beyond to help you. Give Tryp a chance, the atmosphere of this hotel is fantastic and I'm looking forward to returning next year!
Hotel is in need of modernisation. It's dated and dirty and dangerous in some areas. With the exception of a few, most staff are rude. Tje gardeners are constantly bothering you to either buy thier tatty souvenirs or fill up thier flasks with beer. We even had our camera stolen while we were there! The list of issues with this place is endless and I'm so dissapointed that we waisted our money to go here. The only real positive is the beach. It's beautiful but unfortunately doesn't make up for all the negatives.
This hotel used to be really nice! Now it is run down to the point where there is mold on every corner is totally falling apart. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because of the employees which are very nice
The only thing we went to Cuba was the beach, and thus place delivered that. Beautiful beach and lots of activities on the resort. Resort itself could use some updates, very outdated rooms and buildings. Food was just alright, but Cuba is well known for bad food, so no surprises there. Staff was very friendly. Word of caution to beach goers: grab the beach towels as early as possible, they tend to run out. Overall had a good experience and would go back. Highly recommend to have the currency exchange at the resort (if you haven't already exchanged at origin) and not the airport. And dont forget to take bugs spray with you, in the evening times, certain areas have vicious mosquitos.
