Iberostar Playa Blanca
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
Please note that hotel standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other Sun Destinations. Unless travelers are familiar with the resort or Cuban hotels, we typically recommend that travelers book a minimum 4 star resort when traveling to Cuba.
Feel your cares drift away in this relaxed setting amid palms and Cayo Largo's resident turtles, gulls and pelicans. Kick off your shoes and stretch out beside the pool, discover the beauty of the island by bicycle, enjoy the basketball and volleyball courts or go snorkeling and explore the undersea wonders of the offshore coral reef.
Location: Beachfront, 10 minutes from Juan Vitalio Acuna International Airport.
This was our first hotel to stay in Cuba. The staff was very nice and they tried their best to give us a great time. There is a small bus that goes into the local marina if you need money or other sundries. The people in the area are very nice and helpful. I would recommend this as a first hotel if you are going to stay in Cuba.
Well, from my previous review (2010) I thought this was such a horrible place to go. Now I am redeeming this resort due to the numerous renovations and addition to the resort. My husband and I travelled June 16 to 23. More polished and villas were painted. We arrived and were upgraded to Villa Bellarena (Turisanda area) from my understanding, this part of the resort was exclusively for Italian Visitors, but had since been opened to the rest of the tourists.I can not begin to express how beautiful this part of the resort was. We were put up in gorgeous wood cabins that occupied a comfortable sofa, king size bed, 2 shower bathrooms, another sitting area, a hammock in the balcony and 2 tanning beds, you have to honestly see it to believe it. It was more like an executive cottages. Extremely gorgeous and clean. Our chambermaid Rosa really took care of us. We always came back to our room spotless. The Buffet Restaurant was delicious. The chefs were Italians, I recommend the Grilled Chicken and the pastas. So tasty. Flans and empanada desserts were our favourite and of course the seasonal fruits. Overall I am impressed.
Horrible Hotel, avoid(flee) and not to metter never feet. Horrible food, not functional air conditioning, no beach(range), infiltration of water through windows in case of rain, filtration of defective swimming pool. After 5 different trip in Cuba, the worst that I have never had all my life
Friendly staff, great drinks, music and beaches. This resort is small and budget priced with many repeat visitors. Guests tend to be younger tourists enjoying a week in Cuba. The food is good and I enjoy the dancers entertainment team.
This was my second trip to Cuba, first time to Cayo Largo... Stayed at the Iberostar Playa Blanca, travelled with my 21 year old daughter. We were looking for somewhere to relax and take a short break between completing her university exams and starting work for the summer. We decided on this hotel for a five day stay, and we were pleasantly surprised. The Hotel,It was in decent shape, we stayed in an ocean view bungalow, and would choose a bungalow again. The beds and pillows were very good, the room and bathroom were spotless! There is a safe in the closet. The common areas were also extremely clean. The pool was in need of having the liner changed. The restaurants and bars were also kept very clean. The hotel was closing for renovations the week after we were there, apparently correcting the problem with pool and redoing all the bathrooms etc...Food & BeverageBreakfast was decent, cheeses, deli meats, sweet rolls, fruit, omelet station and more. Expresso is available at all the bars. The Ranchon for lunch was closed while we were there so there was only the snack bar open at midday, hot dogs, chicken, salads, cheese, deli meats, etc pretty basic but easy to find something to eat. We were visited by the resort cats and 1 very large iguana.Ranchon for dinner once, a la carte, the food was good, but felt rushed.Buffet for dinner, was very good, pasta bar, pizza bar, we had excellent turkey, fish...Bar service, I wish the bartenders were trained on how to mix a drink, and that they were consistent throughout the resort. The bar staff and restaurant were always friendly and eager to please, a small tip goes a long way!My biggest concern would be the flies in the buffet restaurant, they really need to address this!BeachOk, we all know that there is no beach at the hotel, wasn't an issue for us. Shuttle is provided to the Beach or you can take a cab for 2 pesos per person each way, and travel on your own schedule. They have bars at both beaches. The beaches are gorgeous, a must visit! The beaches are clothing optional. General, there is wifi in the lobby for a small price, we couldn't seem to get on in afternoon, but mornings and evenings were fine. The shows at night are worth a look-see, you have to admire the enthusiasm! The staff resort wide is to be commended! Be warned if you are looking for an activity packed vacation this is not the destination for you. The island is small! The village consists of 1 store, 1 bank (if you to buy pesos you will need to do a cash advance), 1 bar, (that is open during the day), marina, some souvenir shacks, dive shop and the turtle rescue. Go and see the turtle rescue they rescue and release thousand of sea turtles every year! Please make a donation while you are there!Overall this was a much better destination than our previous experience. We would return!
