Iberostar Ensenachos is a resort suited for those who like larger properties and big resorts. The Iberostar provides top-notch luxury service and is the only 5 star in Cayo Santa Maria that accepts children. The resort is situated along one of Cuba's most beautiful beaches. The service from staff is extremely attentive and pleasant. First trip to Cuba

This was our first trip to Cuba. We travelled with a large group of 16 ( adults and kids). As stated in other reviews beaches are amazing! By far the best part of the trip. Grounds and beautiful. We found the service was good and improved with tips! Rooms were decent, you will need an adaptor for outlets. Food was just ok, lots of options but buffet was repetitive, and a la cartes hard to book. Exchanging money was also difficult. They really need to improve this process so their employees can receive the tips the deserve. Overall great introduction to Cuba!

Absolutely Wonderful Staff and Resort

This was our fourth visit and each one keeps getting better. We travelled as a group of eight and stayed in the Spa section. The winds were a little high for my ears to handle the beach for too long but with all the foilage at the pool it was protected from the winds. The Spa pool bartenders Damarys and Guerra, as well as the two Albertos attending poolside have become like family, they are engaging, work very hard, and are genuinely concerned that you have an excellent time. We also had great conversation, and the odd drink, with some fine fellow Canadians we had the pleasure of meeting. I have always found the food to be good but would have to say I think it is actually getting better. Check in was a smooth and very pleasant experience we arrived early and our room took no more than 15 minutes to be ready. Buffet breakfast was very good and we were always welcomed by Daimy and another lady who's name fails me but was equally attentive and pleasant. Lunchs we normally spent at the Spa pool restaurant where you could have had Lobster and Shrimp everyday with the added bonus of being spoiled by Dianaby - a superb waitress. Suppers are very good at the Asian and Cuban (International), but the biggest surprise was the Italian which prepared one of the finest steaks I have had. We did prefer the buffet at times due mostly to the happiest personality I have had the pleasure of meeting - Armondo - look for the tall fella with glasses and a great smile and you will enjoy your evening. Evenings in the lobby were nice; we had great service fromYaneidy and great conversation with Dany from entertainment staff. My suggestions; research the Q&A section here to see what you should bring - surge protector, pool lounger/ring, extra beach towel, etc. We tip, and in Pesos, just because it is all inclusive does not mean good service need not be recognized, you would tip for service at home-only difference is you've already paid for the product. That being said it is not required - you will get the same great service - only thing required is a friendly attitude from you and you will get the same thing back.Only Con I can think of is the "Sports Bar" - please open it up after 10 for adults only and give those of us who wish to stay up later somewhere to go and dance (and work on the musty smell). We will be back again next year and may increase the frequency to two annual visits if the Disco is provided (yes management, blatant bribary)

Gorgeous beaches, lush gardens, a bit of heaven on earth.

Enjoyed 1 week from April 8th to the 15th. Stayed in the spa section - adult area. Once again, great experience. Food was good in the past but noticeably improved with selections. Beaches were as always breathtaken, staff always friendly and courteous.

Going back next year! Fantastic!

We were in the Park Suites family area of the resort during (Nova Scotia) March break 2017. Arrived March 9 and left on March 16th and we will be returning next year. There were 5 adults ranging in age 38-67 and our 5 year old daughter. We stayed in bungaloo 40 and it was an excellent location. Close to beaches, pool, 5 min walk to lobby. Next year we will request to be in 40, 41 or 42. Even if we went with no kids, we would still stay in the Park Suites area. It is closed to the beaches, restaurants, lobby and is very very quite. The beaches....THE BEACHES...and the service on the beaches was awesome. We would go down at 7am to put our towels out. We did this not because you needed to to get a seat. If you showed up at 10am...10:30...you would still get a sheltered chair..we did it to get just where we wanted :). An attendant would be there to help you get the chairs where you wanted, dust the sand off and put your towels. TIP these men a peso or two...they are over looked for tips! At the pool also. If you want to sit somewhere and there aren't chairs there, the attendant will get some for you and set you up where you want. Tip him!The service on the beach (especiallly Megano) was awesome! JUNIELY was FANTASTIC. Charming, charismatic, impeccable service. We plan to go back to the Iberostar Ensenachos next March, and we hope he is still there!!! Juniely worked every day we were there at the beach and then would be at the pool in the afternoon. He is definitely an asset to the company! We did spend most mornings on Megano Beach because the service was so great but next year we will do an extra day at Ensenachos Beach since it is so incredibly beautiful! At lunch on that beach a man comes around with hamburgers and hotdogs...not need to leave your chair! Don't forget to bring snorkel gear. You can snorkel right off the beaches and see great tropical fish! The food at the buffet had something for everyone! We ate very very well every day. Morning breakfast at the buffet, lunch at the Megano beach grill and the supper at either an a la cart or the buffet. We went to the Asian a la cart and the Mediteranean and enjoyed both! The Asian grill went above and beyond to cater to our daughter's egg allergy and the show put on was entertaining for us all. Lots to eat! A little tip - the maid does not fill the fridge. So we left a tip daily for the maid and also a few pecos a day in the fridge. They work hard luging that stuff around all day and often get overlooked or people don't know the maid doesn't fill it. We caught him the second day to ask that we get two waters every day and tipped him and he always made sure we got what we want. (2 pop, 4 beers, 2 lg waters)...although we rarely drank all the beers...and we like beer! Don't expect that your fridge will be filled early. It was usually filled around 5 pm for us...but then we had that stuff to get us through the next day! What else, after dinner in the buffet there is always musical entertainment out in the lobby. Get a drink, sit back and enjoy! The entertainment was fantastic and I miss that Cuban music! Money - make sure on Friday you have enough small coins to get you through the weekend. The money exchange office is open on the weekend (lower level lobby) but, if he runs out of 1s, the banks are not open on the weekend, so you have to wait until Monday for him to get some more. I could go on and on... I love this resort and as I said I will be back.

4 Adults, 3 Children- Family Trip March 31-April 7

Our family trip consisted of myself, husband, my children- 8 year old boy and girl (twins) and a 4 year old girl and my parents. If you love nature and not leaving the resort- this place is for you. Pros- service, room, pool, beaches- especially ensenachosWe couldn't think if any cons- the food is not the greatest, but it was good. Always something to eat- and we only ate at the buffet. Didn't really use the kids club- But my son did play on the beach/pool with Johnny- and he was amazing. We thoroughly loved the resort and the vacation. Reading other reviews i thought that the walking for our just turned 4 year old would be too much- but it wasnt- but we love walking! We would love to go back- hopefully they will begin to accept family of 5 in the same room!
