Location:On the unspoiled Cayo Ensenachos in an area of natural beauty, 80 minutes from Santa Clara International Airport.
Just back from a great vacation at this place. The beaches are absolutely amazing. The resort is beautiful & the staff are all very friendly & accommodating. We stayed in the Villas & that was a great experience to say the least! The rooms in the villas are very well maintained, large, bright & beautiful. The staff at the villas are amazing, very accommodating & truly go out of their way to ensure that you are having a great vacation. The Concierge staff at the Grand Village are exceptional! I referred to them as my Genies- these guys make things happen! The food at the buffet is very good with a lot of choices. The Oriental Restaurant was excellent & we had quite a few meals at the El Colonial at the Grand Village. This restaurant is excellent. My husband & I had a very nice dinner there on Valentine's Day, it was so good. Our kids also enjoyed their vacation & want to go back
Just completed our seventh visit to the Villas. Why the Villas? The Accommodation, the Food and Beverage, and above all, the Staff! Thanks Yan, Super Maitre D. Thanks Marichal,Yandry and Maikel. Concierge, Butler, and Friends. These three have it all! The front office lady is wonderful.Even Yansi the cleaning lady is a star. The day before we left I missed a step by the pool and did a three point landing, wheels up, on to the concrete. I know what you are thinking but the answer is NO! I was "cold sober". Within minutes the acting GM Jorge Saez was there with his car to take me to the local Cuban Clinic. To make a long story short, saw a Dr., X Rays taken. Then taken by ambulance to Santa Clara regional hospital, another Dr. and more X Rays and back to the Villas, about a three hour round trip. One of the many things we enjoy about the Villas is that it is a small community and you get to know the other guests. For more details on the Villas and Ensenachos refer to my previous submissions. We look forward to visit number eight next year.Questions answered on the Villas rather than main area.
We stayed at the Iberostar Ensenachos 2 years ago and decided to come back this year (8-15 February) based on our previous positive experience and we weren't disappointed! We've been to resorts in Cayo Coco and Varadero and although they were very nice the Iberostar still stands out in our minds as the best we've been to. This year we brought another couple with us and they enjoyed it as much as we did. The resort itself is still clean and is being maintained as well as possible (considering there aren't any Home Depots around, they do pretty good). The villas at the Grand Village are still the most unique accommodations we've encountered, the grounds still have that lush, tropical look that really makes you feel like you're in the Caribbean and both beaches (Ensenachos and Megano) were clean and well equipped with lots of beach chairs and plenty of palapas for shade. The food was very good both at the buffet and the à la carte restaurants with the exception of a lobster and pasta dish at the Italian restaurant that all 4 of us ordered and found quite dismal (the tiramisu desert partially made up for it). What really helps the Iberostar stand out is it's wonderful staff and we (all 4 of us) wanted to make sure their efforts were acknowledged: in particular, Maikel Alpizar, the concierge at the Grand Village who quickly addressed a few issues we had with our room and got us quickly moved to a different villa and managed to secure dinner reservations so the 4 of us could sit together at the same time which we know isn't always easy. The staff who cleaned our room, Ernesto and Choo (hope we spelled that correctly!) always made sure we had plenty of water and beer in the fridge, and always made an entertaining and creative design on the bed with the towels, blankets and pillows. Roberto, the golf cart chauffeur, who drove us between the Grand Village and main building or beach, was always cheerful and goodhearted, regardless of the time of day or night. The staff at the beach restaurant were outstanding: the chefs, Ernesto, Yordanis and Diego, (great calamari!), and the waiters, Rogelio, Santiago and Danay, we're all terrific. A big thanks to the bar staff at the beach, Eduardo, Amaury, Camilo and Jorgito, who were incredibly organized and worked hard to keep up with all the drink orders, but still had time to chat with us (Eduardo in particular always managed to keep a bottle of Clan Campbell available for my friend and I for our afternoon sipping). Cuba is still a great vacation deal, with great weather, great beaches and most of all, great people. The 4 of us are already talking about returning next year, hope to see all the staff at the Iberostar again !
This is not a Sandals but in Cuban terms this is not a bad hotel. It is though in danger of resting on its laurels and if it does that it will start to decline. The bedrooms are sizeable, clean, comfortable and well serviced. However in our block the room fans didn't work and that state seemed to be an accepted norm. The outside of the blocks need to be painted to reflect the paint quality of the inside walls of the blocks where the room entrances are which looks good. The quality levels of the themed restaurants need upgrading particularly the Cuban restaurant. The Internet is poor but that is normal in Cuba however it does seem worse than other places here. Whether that is a general problem on the Cayas I don't know. There are though major positives in the pool facilities, the beaches are beautiful and well looked after, the gardens are particularly well managed and the major positive is the attitude and friendliness of the staff.I think one thing that struck me though is the lack of visibility of management walking the job and I think this needs addressing if this hotel is going to remain one of the top ones on the coast.
We love this resort. The beaches, the adult pool and the people is why returned for a second time. We'd never been to the same resort twice but this time we made an exception and returned to Ensenachos. Eduardo, Danay & Camilo at the beach, Joani at the newly added Megano beach bar and Damarys who we initially met at the pool bar were some of our favourites. Alexis was an excellent entertainer by the pool and we loved reconnecting with Orlei from last year while trying out the archery. Alberto D made every visit to the pool awesome just as he did last year. Thank you Alberto!!!!! Restaurant and lobby bar servers like Pipo (best dry martini and chocolate martini all week with added entertainment while serving) Greter, Vangie, Alberto, Danibey, Fany (who served my morning coffee on the patio with smiles daily!) all added to the value of our week at the resort. Thank you so much. We hope to return again ❤
