Our Opinion

Iberostar Ensenachos is a resort suited for those who like larger properties and big resorts. The Iberostar provides top-notch luxury service and is the only 5 star in Cayo Santa Maria that accepts children. The resort is situated along one of Cuba's most beautiful beaches. The service from staff is extremely attentive and pleasant. For those wanting top-notch luxury and the most out of their all-inclusive experience, the Iberostar Ensenachos is the perfect destination.

This stunning resort, set on a spectacular white powdery sand beach that stretches over 2.6 kilometres, offers all the luxury one expects from a hotel of this class. Experience some of the finest facilities anywhere in dazzling surroundings!

Fifth visit to Ensenachos

Our last visit to Ensenachos was February of this year, and we've just returned from another stay from November 24 - December 1. Bus ride from the airport was swift, with no stops along the way, thanks to everyone thoughtfully moderating their cerveza consumption. Although we did not get a room in any of the buildings we had requested, nor was the cot for our daughter in the room upon arrival - check in was otherwise fine. ROOM: The daily maid service was excellent. I was a little surprised that the room appeared to not have been fully checked over during the quiet season - for example, the plastic seal on the shower stall had come off the glass door and the curtain on the balcony door was broken. Not big deals in the grand scheme of things, though, as the air conditioner and plumbing was working perfectly. The cot brought in for our daughter, however, was in dire need of replacing - the headboard was ripped up with chunks missing and the mattress was in poor shape. FOOD: We've tried the various a la cartes on previous visits, so didn't bother going this time around and just stuck to the buffet. We really missed the lobster night that they used to have in the buffet once a week. They did have a taco station set up on two nights and a sushi station set up on another night. Unfortunately, the person making the sushi had just been shown how to do it (we observed her being trained as the dinner service began) and you can imagine the result. All that being said, we always found something to eat, even my mother, who is gluten-free and doesn't eat much meat. Special thanks to chef Lazaro for specially cooking up some amazing sea bass for my mother and pre-shelling prawns for my daughter. DINING ROOM SERVICE: The servers in the buffet are top-notch and we'd like to particularly note the incredible work of Roberto Carlos, who set up incredible dinner experiences, and had my mother wishing we could bring him back to Canada with us. Other servers that will take great care of you: Yuri (the man who NEVER stops moving - watching him serve is like watching a dance), Yunexy (incredibly sweet), Osneil, and Vania. I am hoping that the dining room management could consider working on the problem of the constant disruptive loud scraping noises caused by the dining room chairs and tables not having sliders. During our meals, it was extremely unpleasant - particularly when paired with the loud behaviour of some members of a large wedding party that was also at the resort while we were there. BEACHES: The beaches, as always, are incredible - if you are a beach lover - you will not be disappointed! We only go to the further beach (Ensenachos) as this is the quiet beach, while Megano is the activity and music beach. On two of the days we were there, every single shaded area and lounge chair on Ensenachos was occupied, which is quite something, considering they have built extra shade structures recently. I ended up waking up early every morning to go down and hang out at the beach so that we'd have a spot for the day. Special thanks to life guard Alejandro for keeping everyone safe, including the star fish that tourists kept trying to take out of the water. The new boardwalks to the beaches are fantastic, major kudos to the resort for putting those in! GROUNDS: As usual, the grounds are lush and well-kept. We were delighted to see our favourite gardener with the great big heart, Felix. It seemed to me that the paths are well-lit and care is being made to replace burnt-out lights promptly. All in all - our fifth visit to Ensenachos was truly wonderful and we have only a couple of suggestions to management for improvement, as noted above. We look forward to our next visit, hopefully this coming year!

Terrific vacations, great hotel, wonderful service!!!!

Is the first time I have been in a hotel in Cuba without things to complaint about, finally I could enjoyed my stance 100% happy. Also all my family I was being had the same feeling. I need to say that I have my doubts before arriving, but Iberostar did definitely their job great in this hotel, I hope they continue like this. The service in this hotel is amazing, you feel so good, you feel like home, they help you in everything, the check-in with Yarivet was very smooth and she was very kind helping me in every request I had. The service room also wonderful, they make my room the best, just a shame I didn’t took her name. At restaurant the same, to light a name, Maydelys in the buffet restaurant was very special, thanks to everyone. It’s a colonial hotel but that make him special and is kept in great condition, very clean. Also suit for every age, for families you have the main buildings with two big swimming pools, and a water park that kids will be crazy about it. For couples that want intimacy and peace, you have the village that is an area 18+.Plus:The beach is one of the most amazing beaches in Cuba and in the world. All inclusive hotel, including room service, catamaran, water bicycles and more good services Great cocktails in all the bars, the lobby bar the bestEntertainment all the time in different parts of the hotel, lobby, theater for kids, swimming pool with foam parties and more. The restaurant has variety dishes and is open with snack after 23:00, big plus!!!!Minus: (only two small things to improve)The romantic breakfast, is a good breakfast at room but not romantic at all, not flower or something else, disappointed with that. The japanese restaurant, they mixed all the food and you don't have option to choose what do you want to eat, they should inform to the client that before the reservation.

Particularly Par

First time at this resort though I have been to Holguin in Cuba several times before. I found this resort to be sub part for a five star, I have had considerably better experiences at four star resorts.Positives: Beach, landscaping, general elegance of aesthetic, Negatives: Service, amenities, nightlife, foodThis resort has a relaxed and family friendly atmosphere. It is great for older people and young families, and the kids part looked particularly fun. However our party found the general quality of service to be quite poor. We would often have to fight to get drinks, and it took over 3 hours for members of our party to get towels after the maids took every towel in their room. At one point a member of our group injured their foot while walking on the resort, and staff continued to walk by her despite her being in clear pain and unable to move by herself. They then told us they did not have a medical facility until we asked for a third time and they suddenly remembered that they did have one. The general impression was that the staff could not care less unless you were holding money that you obviously intended to give to them. There were two notable exceptions to this trend. Yuri in the main dining room was absolutely amazing. A true standout, he would be an exceptional server in any restaurant anywhere in the world. Prompt and friendly he went a long way towards making the trip better. Alfredo in the main bar area was also excellent, he was the only server who made rounds regularly to ensure that his tables were well tended. In general I have found service at four stars to be considerably better. The food was tastier than other resorts I have been to and the buffet offered a good selection, but the food made every member of our party sick at one point or another. While we were there a large wedding party came to be married and over half of them were laid low by gastro-intestinal distress. I (and other members of my party) have never had this issue at other resorts, and despite how tasty the food was, we grew reluctant to eat for fear that we would be incapacitated as a result.The beach is absolutely amazing, but the resort does not rent an kind of snorkeling equipment so make sure to bring your own. One of the pools was under construction the whole time we were there which was disappointing. The other pool was clean and well maintained. The resort is quite large and moving from one end to the other could be a 20 minute walk or more.If you are looking only to relax and have a hearty stomach (maybe bring meds anyways) this could be a good experience for you. I feel that this resort could be considerably improved by a general increase in quality of service.

I'd recommend it, and I'd definitely return!

I had an awesome trip and I'd definitely recommend this resort. The beach and resort are beautiful with very friendly staff, awesome Cuban music in the evenings. I visited with my mom and we both had an amazing time. There were a lot of people who had stayed there in the past and returned-- I'd definitely go back again!

Excellent hotel

My husband and I just came back. We stayed November 25-30. This was our first trip to Cuba. We LOVED this hotel. The staff are the friendliest people I have ever met. Our housekeeper was amazing. I can't remember her name but we stayed in room 2929. The food was way better than expected. I've heard so many stories about how terrible the food in Cuba is so needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. There is something for everyone. In the buffet if you can have Liliany or Vania as your server grab her. They greets you with a smile every day and are very tentative to your needs. Breakfast buffet was pretty much the same as every other all inclusive you will go to. The lunch and dinner buffet had a fresh fish station, a meat station and pasta station. Plus all the regular things you'd expect in a buffet. The resort is huge and the beach is a little ways away. There are two beaches and like all the other reviews the Ensenachos beach is the nicest. You will want to take their trolley to this beach. We were there during their nine days of mourning so all night time entertainment was cancelled. So I can't comment on this. We went on the fishing and catamaran excursions. Both were amazing!! The nexus rep was also awesome!!My only complaint is that there should definitely be more trolleys going back and forth to the beach. You can sometimes wait a half an hour for one to bring you back to the hotel. If we weren't so lazy we would have walked back quicker. Lol.
