This was our return visit to Iberostar. First trip was so wonderful so we had invited another couple and my daughter and her fiancé to come to this wonderful resort to celebrate our anniversary and enjoy the Spa section. We arrived with a few disappointments but it was taken care of promptly. Thank you Jorge and Diego!! Front desk was so helpful and accommodating. Now onto the review: The resort is breathtaking, staff is wonderful! Mavely in dinning room * hugs * Thank you for taking care of us your smile was so great to see each day!! Adonis~ so nice to see you again and attending to us at the bar!! xo , Dalmaris? sorry name incorrect. Spa pool and Alberto at the pool.. xo. Wonderful young gentleman at the Spa pool restaurant was so attentive and great service. Wonderful lady i think is Ana ? attending to the main lobby and washrooms such a sweetheart! Our maid was excellent and no issues at all with our room! All around great service tips or not~ Rooms are large and beautiful, we had a corner unit , king bed.. second floor as we requested. Resort made the extra effort so our friends and family were all in the same unit! The cart drivers were excellent always taking care of us and asked when they could return for pick up at the beach! Beaches were beautiful.. this time around due to the storms the waves were higher but you could still enjoy the beach , water was warm , liked the addition of food offered at Ensenachos *Hamburgers or Hotdogs*.Buffet: The food was not as good as our last visit., however you could still search out to find something you liked. This time around we found there was not as many tourists so maybe they did not have the same selection of foods available as last time we visited in October 2014. They use to have lobster one night a week in the main buffet which was not offered this trip. Based on the food selection and lack of seafood my rating dropped from 5 to 4. Al la Cartes: Japanese was very good and great show! Loved it! Cuban Restaurant was very good as well, only downfall was no air conditioning and the "mosquitos" were dining on us as we ate. LOL So we ate fast and rushed out. *this was located by the Spa pool" . We only did 2 of our 4 al la cartes. El Colonial: we found the food to be ok. Not as good as we expected it to be based on previous reviews. Shows: previously we had seen a few shows except the "Flamenco" . The Flamenco dancers were wonderful, great show! All in all .. we had a wonderful trip and we look forward to coming back next year! Thank you Iberostar Staff!
Fabulous all inclusive resort with secluded coves and also plenty of activities. Rooms are very comfortable and minibar is stocked with local beer and rum. Room service is available but a little slow, though not surprising considering the distance some rooms are from kitchen. A great place to escape after a tour of the island.
It's been a long time coming since we've written this review as it has been two years since we got married here in October 2014, but we have been back since for our one year anniversary last October and the place was still amazing. We stayed in the grand villa area both times and they sure make you feel like royalty there! Plus the food is so good in the restaurant there, we would definitely recommend staying on that side of the resort for sure. So on to the wedding.. Our wedding was a great experience over all. We came with a group of 35 for our wedding and after some initial mess in the early stages of planning with Sunwing cancelling our wedding booking with only a notice by email, we quickly switched our travel agent and still got to have our dream wedding at the Iberostar. This resort was a perfect setting for our vintage style wedding, and everyone was so accommodating to our wants and needs. If our memory is correct the name of our wedding coordinator was Yennis, and she was amazing and very helpful with all our requests. We had our ceremony on the private beach and our private reception at the restaurant on the water, luckily since we had brought most of our decorations for the reception we were able to set up before the ceremony even though it was cutting it close, luckily we had lots of family and the staff who were there to help. Maybe in the future if it is possible to come in the morning to set up it would make things easier and less stressful, just a suggestion for future weddings either way everything worked out in the end for us. They were even able to accommodate the groom's gluten allergies and made us a gluten free wedding cake with flour we brought from Canada, it was delicious! Everything turned out so beautiful for us, I cannot thank all of the people who worked so hard to make this day so special for us, specially the staff behind the scenes who we never really got to meet. Our families had a spectacular time and everyone still mentions how much fun it was for all of us when we all get together. All the staff at this resort are such hard workers and do such a great job at enhancing your experience we wish we could name them all but we know we would forget people. We wish we could of gone back again this year but we're going to be visiting a different spot for our second anniversary as the price of the villa went up exponentially compared to last years prices and unfortunately this was just too much of a price hike for us. Hopefully the prices go down and we are able to visit this resort once again in the future for another anniversary, as it will always remain a special place for us and a second home.Thank you Iberostar for such a great experience both times! We hope we will be able to visit again soon!
Having been to this resort 8 years ago and having had an excellent experience we wanted to repeat and revisit this resort with are two children. Unfortunately we were disappointed in every possible way. First and foremost, the cleanest and basic hygiene were unacceptable. Washrooms were filthy "including toilet bowls, walls and floors", toilet paper and soap were almost impossible to find. The food quality and restaurant cleanliness had deteriorated remarkably and the beautiful prestin beach lack proper maintenance. The restaurant at the Megano beach was infested by birds who shared the same food as we were served. These birds at the buffet often landed on the clean plates that we were offered. The rooms are in desperate need of uplifting including upgrading linens, towels, and bathroom plumbing. The employees remain as welcoming as 8 years ago however we sensed some sort of lack of Cuban authenticity. We still enjoyed the beach that we fell in love with 8 years ago although we missed the parrasols that used to be there since this time around we had to arrive on the beach very early in the morning to reserve a shaded spot. The daytime and night time entertainment was still pleasant and appreciated including the children's activities. The landscaping was still impressive and well maintained.
