This luxury resort is located in one of the most stunning areas of Cayo Santa Maria. Guests at Melia Buenavista will love the attentive staff and Royal Service pampering. Located in a secluded ecological environment among white sand beaches and clear Caribbean waters. This 5 star resorts features 104 suites and is an adults only resort.
Location: Directly on a beautiful white-sand beach. Approximately 110 km from the Santa Clara airport.
The service at the Melia Buenavista was by far the greatest either myself or my fiancé have ever received at any resort we have vacationed at. Lester and Orestes [pictured] at the pool bar were definitely the highlights, and a special mention goes out to Manny and Laily who were also incredibly friendly and right there with our drinks. I honestly can’t recall a time that our glasses were less than half empty before another one was being delivered with a smile. One thing to remember is that just like people in the service industry back here at home, these people rely on tips as part of their income to survive. So with that in mind, bring some extra cash for tips when you’re hitting the pool bar, they certainly deserve it! Food at the resort was on par with any other resort in Cuba, if you know what to expect going in, you’ll be fine.Breakfast is à la cart style with a small buffet for meats, cheeses and small pastries. I stuck with the crepes off of the menu for the most part, but the eggs and bacon were also pretty good. If you’re looking for a larger buffet selection there is also a bus that travels between the 3 Melia resorts starting at 10am and you can head to one of the larger sister resorts for the breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet over there. We did not try the à la cart lunch as we were always at the pool area eating the pizza from the snack bar, it was incredible! There are 2 dinner à la cart restaurants, Las Caribes, and Las Navigantes. The Navigantes is a set menu every night, we suggest the lobster tail. Just be sure to request it cooked medium (and tip: you can ask for 2!)Unfortunately we didn’t have terrific dining experiences at La Caribes, simply because the food wasn’t as good as Las Navigantes. My finace sent her appetizers back twice, and ended up leaving with an empty stomach. Room service saved the night!ALWAYS remember your Off Menu Drinks coupon when you head out for dinner! The House Wine isn’t great, so the coupon gets you an approx. $20 bottle with your meal for free. Our room was beautiful and enormous; we booked the Romance Suite w/Ocean View and it was certainly worth it. It rivalled the size of my apartment at home and included a sitting area, balcony with an incredible view of the ocean, king bed, walk-in closet, jacuzzi tub and outdoor shower. It was cleaned twice daily and the fridge was always stocked with beer, water and soda.Room service was available 24/7 with options such as hamburgers and pizza, just don’t expect the same quality as you’ll receive at the snack bar. You can also request a bottle of champagne or red/white wine at anytime to your room. Keeping in mind that we were there while the country was in mourning, entertainment is normally a daily/nightly activity. Having said that, the staff ensured that the clientele had some active options. Some of these options included: Sunset Champagne Toasts on the beach (with a musical guest of sorts), volleyball in the pool, aerobics, and Mariachi bands at night (who were absolutely fantastic!). We had a couples massage one day (book early! the spa fills us fast, it was always booked for at least 48 hours in advance) and they were great. It’s a very relaxing way to spend an hour of your vacation, we wish we had had the foresight to book 2nd one earlier in the week, but as I said, it fills up fast. If you are used to massages, and need a heavier hand, say something to the staff. They are focused on making it very relaxing - but we both wished that the massage itself was more intensive. A quick shout out to the manager, Carlos, who made a point to not only introduce himself, but check in on us every so often. He also asked for feedback -- and was wholesome in this request. Leaving was very difficult as we enjoyed our experience and made connections with some of the staff. Even staff we had not had the pleasure of meeting throughout our stay went out of their way to say hello if they saw us and to shake our hands. We WILL be returning to this resort!
Second time at this hotel and we found the same relaxation and rest atmosphere. We decided to go again to this resort for these reasons: Beautiful beaches (3), great snorkeling directly on site, comfortable rooms, exterior shower, cleanliness, great staff, access to other Melia Hotels. They have improved on the food, so our stay was perfect! The weather was very nice as well.Excellent quality for the price!
Beautiful place to spend a few days. The complex is all inclusive and it is pleasing to note that they are very generous in all aspects.Staff are very friendly and accommodating ( nothing too much trouble) Rooms and facilities very cleanWe visited a couple of sister hotels in the area but this was head and shoulders above the othersi
We were upgraded to the buena vista from the santa maria on arrival so had no idea what to expect as we hadn't trip advisored it first!! The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are lovely and very well kept. The beach is a lovely with shallow waters stretching far out.As mentioned in other reviews the staff are amazing particularly the boys at the pool bar and the pizzas do need a mention of their own!! Breakfast was also really nice with a good buffet selection plus freshly cooked hot menu available. However I do have to echo some of the other reviews regarding dinner, most nights it was really not very good. This is not my first time in Cuba i knew not to expect great culinary delights but the two restaurants here were not great. We did eat at the buffet at las dunas one night and that was infinitely better with a massive range of food on offer all hot and tasty being cooked on a much larger scale. The Buena vista just seems to be trying too hard to be a la carte which doesn't work with the ingredients available to them.
Our stay at Media Buena vista was above and beyond our expectations! The staff were very accommodating and the villa was spotless. Beaches and staff were beautiful and the food was amazing. We are planning our next trip back to this wonderful resort for spring 2017!!! Can't wait to see that great staff again Highly recommend!!!!
