Melia Buenavista Cayo Santa Maria is an amazing luxury resort within Cuba's resort strip. All suites are spacious, modern, and elegant. The resort is also staffed with extremely attentive and personable staff. Melia Buenavista is also known for their breathtaking snorkeling locations. For those wanting to experience beauty within and outside of resort grounds, the Melia Buena Vista Cayo Santa Maria is the perfect destination.


This luxury resort is located in one of the most stunning areas of Cayo Santa Maria. Guests at Melia Buenavista will love the attentive staff and Royal Service pampering. Located in a secluded ecological environment among white sand beaches and clear Caribbean waters. This 5 star resorts features 104 suites and is an adults only resort.

Location: Directly on a beautiful white-sand beach. Approximately 110 km from the Santa Clara airport.

Amazing Honeymoon!!

We spent our honeymoon here and I have to say it was perfection!! We were well taken care of by our concierge and the bartenders by the pool bar (Lester & Ornesto)!! The staff was so considerate and helpful! We also purchased trips and travelled outside the resort, and everything was amazing!We will definitely be returning! (especially for the outdoor shower)

Absolutely wonderful hotel

Firstly let me start by saying what an amazing time we (family of 4 - 2 adults and 20 year old twins) had at the relaxing beachfront end to our fantastic cuban adventure.I am stunned to read some of the negative reviews recently posted about this hotel. I cannot believe some of the comments about the poor breakfasts, wifi, service ........ I could not fault any one of these during our 4 night stay. The suites are devine. Lounge area, minibar and coffee machine, large king size bed, tv and adequate chest of drawers, the walk-in wardrobe with safe, jacuzzi bath, separate toilet and outside shower - oh and the balcony with sofa seating area overlooking the gorgeous 'quiet pool'. Who could ask for more? My twins thought they had 'died and gone to heaven!'. Butlers were on hand to help with our needs - they had even pre-booked our evening meal on the day we arrived, for which we were so grateful after arriving around 5pm. No problems finding sunbeds by the pool or on one of the 3 fabulous beaches any day during our stay. Breakfasts were lovely. Good choice of fresh foods on the buffet table and really good a la carte section for eggs, french toast, etc. All served promptly by friendly, efficient waiters and waitresses. Lunchtimes either in the buffet restaurant or great pizzas (the best we have tasted in a while), kebabs etc by the pool bar. We took the shuttle bus to the other Melia resorts for 2 evening meals, which were mediocre by comparison - and we were so happy to be back in the more upmarket, elegant Buenevista resort at the end of the evening. The staff were so helpful if helping us retrieve 2 items we had accidentally left behind in the other resorts - making phone calls and personal journeys to get them back for us etc. One of the highlights of my stay was my morning yoga on the tranquil platform hut over the ocean - such a perfect setting for my morning meditation. The daily sunset serenade on the beach by a saxophonist was a pleasure to watch and listen to. The New Year's Eve gala dinner was superb. It was a set taster menu and they happily changed some of the courses for me, without any prior warning, as I do not eat meat or seafood. We were given large bags full of party favours at the end of the meal, to be taken outside by the pool for the new year's eve pool party. This upmarket resort is quiet and sophisticated and is beautifully maintained in a superb location between 3 beaches. Wonderful selection of cocktails in all the hotel bars - and helpful and friendly staff all around the resort. Would definitely return and recommend 100%. Was the perfect end to our holiday.

Amazing Trip!!!!

I went to Melia Buenavista this winter and had an amazing time! The resort is clean, rooms are very nice, and every one of the workers is friendly. The pool bartenders were awesome! We got to know the staff by name and the bartenders would bring us drinks to the ocean or to the other pool whenever we wanted. Loved the pool bar bartenders Laily, Orestes, and Lester- They were awesome and very friendly!

First off, I was a little worried by the reviews given by some because we were coming here for our honeymoon. Wow were they way off!!! They go out of their way for honeymooners. They brought Champagne to the room, drew a special bath in the jucussi tub, turn down service and the butlers here will arrange a special breakfast or dinner wherever you want. The food is amazing, the staff outstanding and the resort absolutely beautiful. There's no buffet but you can order room service 24 hours a day (except to wait up to a hour when ordering at night). Internet is better than my last few visits to Cuba. Bar staff is so friendly, we had them up and dancing with us in the piano bar. If you're looking for a party this isn't for you. Think more of a relaxing spa setting than resort however you can spend the day at one if the other resorts if you want both worlds. Overall best vacation we have had.

3rd time - great !

Just came back from our 3rd trip to Melia Buenavista. We visited in december 2014, december 2015 and now december 2016. This place is like our home in Cuba.This place is the perfect spot to relax. Some entertainment but small and intimates at the lobby bar. If you want more, go visit the other Melia hotels. Beaches :3 lovely beaches to choose from. Pedro De La Terre is a nice worker that will help you place your towel and remove the sand from your chair. This man, is very nice and always there to help you. Great beaches to do some snorkeling. We saw many different type of fish and even a nurse shark !!! Wow !Butler :We had Gerardo and Edel for butler. They were both very nice. Gerardo make sure to arrange everything for us since we were leaving early (5h am) on the day of departure. He had breakfast, coffee ready for us. We even had a nice bubble bath with flower petals on the last night we were there. Such a nice gesture. I would definatly ask for Gerardo the next time we go to Melia. Staff :We are repeat customers (3rd time) not only for the beautiful hotel, great beaches but mostly because of the great staff such as : Osmany-pool bar (likes to make jokes, laugh, learn a bit of french and always smiling)Lester-pool bar (professional, polite, a real gentlemen, on top of things)Orates-pool bar (great bartender)Pedro De La Torre, beach (very polite and he will help you at all times)Pidi and Bouru at the BBQ near the pool (both of them amazing-they make great meals). Lester (turn down service maid-very nice and room always super clean)Gerardo, butler : nice, polite and always making sure we had all that we wanted.Room :No ocean view this year for us, but the room had the same layout. Coffee machine, small fridge, AC, extra blanket, a safe, different pillow. You tell your butler what you like and they will make sure to have it for you in your small fridge. Restaurant :The restaurants are good. It would be nice to have a better variety of meals and deserts. More seafood and different choices would be better. You have access to the other Melia hotels located near by. Transportation is available at the lobby. They are also building a sidewalk for people that like to walk from one hotel to the other.The restaurant (Los Marinos Ranchon) near the beach use to have tables outside. It was nice to sit outside and have a great meal. Now, this year…no tables outside. I was very disappointed because, we travel to the south to enjoy the weather….not to be seated in the AC (air conditionning). Especially when you just came back from swimming in the ocean, you much prefer to sit outside and not freeze under the AC. Management should revise this decision. Because of that, we always went to the pool BBQ were the selection of food is limited. That’s really too bad !Cats : Always did like the fact that there was cats at this resort, it makes me fell at home. This year, there was fewer cats. Someone told me that some customers complained. I believe this resort should have a small cat house and a little sign for clients to feed them if they would like. The (APAC) canadian organization could possibly take care of them like they do at Royalton Varadero. They give them vaccination and get them neutered. For us, animal lover, it would be a very nice addition.WiFi :WiFi is available at the reception only. They will give you a card that gives you access for 1 hour. Internet was fonctional and better this year. You have to sign a paper everytime you get a card. The card is at no fee.Management :Ana used to work for quality control, but she is no longer there. That’s too bad because she was fluent in french, english and spanish. Here are just a few things I wanted bring to your attention. By all means, this is not a complaint but some constructive comments in order to improve.First year, we saw the manager David Salgado. Very nice and would talk to everyone. Second year, we had David Nunez Alvarez, also very nice. Now, this year it was Carlos Rincon and while we were there….he just left. No management. Why can’t Melia Hoteles be able to find a good manager that would stay there, get to know the staff, make appropriate changes in order to improve this place. To us clients, this does not look good ?? we wonder why the management is always changing.We did enjoy our stay at Melia Buenavista and that is because of the wonderful staff that I mentionned. They are like my second family now. Keep up the good work all of you and hope that the Melia company find you a great manager that will stay there longer then 6 months.
